00:01You know, I am the daughter of a craftsman, carpenter, Gary Delarios, and he
00:07recently retired and he gave me all his old tools and I kind of feel like he's
00:11sort of sad that no one's gonna carry on his legacy and sadly I never really
00:16learned any of those skills because I was too busy running around the woods
00:20with my dogs. My dad, he is a true craftsman. I'm more of a crafts, man I
00:27should have read that manual type. I want to carry on the legacy, so today I'm on
00:32the lookout for a fixer-upper and I'm determined to teach myself how to
00:38refurbish and upcycle something that would have ended up in the trash and I'm
00:43gonna make it into something magical. Make my papa proud.
00:50When storage units are abandoned,
00:54the treasures within are put up for auction.
01:00I think I scored on this.
01:00Stop it, you ain't!
01:01One!
01:03Whoa!
01:04Ha ha ha!
01:06I'm on any ride!
01:08Are you excited for the auction?
01:13Yeah, I'm excited.
01:14I think I'm gonna focus on classic trash into cash.
01:17Well, let's not try to find trash. Oh, I want it to be good to start with.
01:22Yeah, exactly.
01:23But you know, sometimes the best things are the things that you can't see.
01:27There's usually a hint that tells you that there could be something good.
01:31Call it the tip of the iceberg.
01:33Yeah, I want to make that my slogan. I buy tips of icebergs.
01:37I'll be trash Houdini and you could be the ice queen. That's a pretty good one.
01:41It is a good one.
01:42I make trash disappear.
01:45Trash Houdini.
01:47Going to an auction today in West Covina, hoping to recoup some of my concert money
01:53because I went to Red Rock in Colorado and drove there and it was a freaking blast.
02:00I am running on fumes and adrenaline and I decided at my age I'm gonna just do cool s**t.
02:06Kids are grown, like why not, right?
02:08So I just gotta make more money so I can keep going to concerts.
02:12I only have one life, right?
02:16Well, at least we're early.
02:18As a trash wizard, a trash magician, where I can wave a magic wand over a pile of garbage
02:24and turn it into money, that pile we bought here last time...
02:27There's your wand.
02:29It's not a wand.
02:30That's like one of those things to find gold, you know?
02:33That starts vibrating.
02:34I mean, I would take one of those.
02:36So here comes a fisherman.
02:38Why are you touching the weeds?
02:39Hi, fisherman.
02:40Do I pound or hug?
02:42Um...
02:43Boom.
02:43Because I want a side hugger.
02:45Good, sir.
02:46Good morning.
02:46You shouldn't answer my question.
02:48Oh, I told her I needed a magic wand that could turn a pile of garbage into money.
02:51That doesn't work.
02:53I get it.
02:54Watching me do this all the time must seem like magic to him.
02:58Hey!
02:58Hi, guys.
02:59Don't mind me.
03:00Why do you have a hammer?
03:02Why do you have a hammer?
03:02My dad, he's a carpenter, and he recently gave me all his old tools, so I'm gonna...
03:08Fix stuff?
03:08I'm gonna fix stuff.
03:09Thank you, Lupe.
03:10So basically, you're letting us know that you're gonna pay money for scratched-up dressers.
03:15Bingo!
03:16Sorry.
03:16She's already showing her deck of cards.
03:18Yeah.
03:19What are we looking at, Lupe?
03:19What would this tell you in a storage how deep the storage is?
03:22This will tell me a lot of important information.
03:24How tall are you?
03:26Sure.
03:26Yeah, we can get that information.
03:27I always wondered how tall I am.
03:29I'm putting her tools for the tests.
03:31We're looking at 67 inches tall.
03:34Does that mean anything to you?
03:35Cool.
03:36That's obviously a number, but what does it mean for a human?
03:42You know what?
03:42I got a gift for you gals.
03:44I have a little fan, and it gets hot.
03:45You don't have to use it now, or if you want to do it when you get in the car
03:48or whatever.
03:49I like it.
03:49But what color do you like?
03:51Hmm.
03:52This one.
03:53Perfect.
03:54Purple it is.
03:55Purple.
03:55You're welcome.
03:56Lisa, I have a present for you.
03:58You have a present for me?
03:59Yes.
03:59So do you like pink or green?
04:01Laura!
04:02Yes, it's a little thing.
04:03Well, maybe green.
04:04It matches your glasses.
04:05No, green, green, green, green, green.
04:06I'm your number one fan.
04:08Wow, Laura.
04:09It's almost like a comforting mosquito.
04:12A comforting mosquito?
04:14Brandy!
04:15Welcome to the auction.
04:17Wow.
04:17You get presents.
04:18This is for you.
04:19Oh, I love you for this.
04:22Yes, you're welcome, girl.
04:23Is this my menopause special?
04:25Yes!
04:26Cheers to that, sister.
04:27Ivy, this is a gift for you.
04:28Wow.
04:29Aww.
04:30Wow.
04:31Ooh, I love this one, too.
04:32No strings attached.
04:34I love it.
04:35You didn't say it.
04:36Spoke.
04:37All right, let's go.
04:38I can't wait to go.
04:39Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
04:40Oh, wow.
04:44All right, welcome to the auction.
04:46We're Dan and Laura Dawson with American Auctioneers.
04:48Before you go through the East Gate, you need to know the rules.
04:50You're going to go to the unit, remove the lock, open the door, and give you five minutes.
04:52Take a look around.
04:53You can't go inside.
04:54You can't open any boxes.
04:56And if you've ever got the most money in their pocket, can own it today.
04:58Are you ready?
04:59Yeah!
05:00Yeah!
05:00Let's go, let's go, let's go!
05:02All right, let's go!
05:03Woo!
05:13Oh, easy, open.
05:14Bye-bye, Ted.
05:15Good job, Laura.
05:20Okay, first, jewelry.
05:22That's not jewelry.
05:23That's Christmas.
05:23You have a toaster oven.
05:24Yeah.
05:25There's a hope chest.
05:26I love hope chests.
05:27You never know.
05:28I mean...
05:28Potential.
05:29There is a hope chest.
05:30Does it give us hope?
05:31Yes.
05:32Look at that.
05:32Looks like a few little random things.
05:35Household items.
05:36Trunk.
05:37All right.
05:39How's that?
05:40Is that good?
05:41I like that it's kind of tidy in here.
05:44I like the rug.
05:45I like this little basket, too.
05:47I could carry my littles in that.
05:49Okay, we got a little piece of furniture there.
05:53Looks like it could use a little coat of paint.
05:55You know what they say, measure twice and bid once.
05:58But you know what the Japanese say.
05:59No.
06:00The nail that sticks out gets hammered.
06:02Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
06:05I think I might have broken Dan's brain with that one.
06:08Okay.
06:08We got some photos.
06:10A couple of purses.
06:12Tabletop.
06:13Oh, a beautiful big rug.
06:14So I'm gonna bid on this one.
06:16All right.
06:17We gotta make a nice rug unit.
06:19Here we go number 20.
06:19What's your pleasure?
06:20When are you gonna pay a scene?
06:21How much?
06:2125.
06:22I got 25.
06:2250.
06:23Right there.
06:24I got 75.
06:26I got 100 bucks here.
06:27I got one and a quarter.
06:29100 and a half.
06:29I got 150.
06:30175 now.
06:3175.
06:32I got 200.
06:33Two and a quarter.
06:33Two and a quarter there.
06:34Two and a half.
06:35I got 250.
06:35I got 250 here.
06:3675 now.
06:37And 250 up front.
06:38One, two, 75.
06:39Oh, and one, twice.
06:39One, two, 75 and a half.
06:41Don't do it, Lisa.
06:42You got it.
06:44That was nice of Ivy to not bid against me again.
06:47I mean, I did give him a gift.
06:50What?
06:50No.
06:51Of course I didn't do it on purpose.
06:54I think this locker might have a little bit of everything.
06:57I got a trunk I can fix up and a really, I think it's a good rug and all sorts
07:02of mystery.
07:02All right.
07:04I'm excited.
07:06Mmm.
07:09Hey.
07:11Fan abuse.
07:12Don't be jealous.
07:14You're my fan.
07:16She's jealous because you don't have a fan.
07:19Something wrong with you.
07:26The moment of truth.
07:27All right.
07:28Inside unit.
07:3010 by 10.
07:31Wow.
07:32Oh, wow.
07:32There you go.
07:33Oh, yeah.
07:33There you are.
07:34There you go.
07:39Smells like a pack of hot dogs in here.
07:41It smells real weird in here.
07:43It's got tools.
07:45Lawn mowers?
07:45They're not cheap.
07:46No, but people use electric now.
07:48That's the problem.
07:48What's that?
07:49Speakers.
07:50I'm trying to find the iceberg.
07:51No, there is no tip in this one.
07:53If I need to start a gardening business, this might be good.
07:57What's in that cool suitcase?
07:59Pulp Fiction .
08:01What do we got here?
08:02What does Carpenter Lisa see?
08:04Can't fix up a TV.
08:06Tires.
08:07But, I mean, the bike's kind of cool and funky.
08:09Oh, God.
08:09I almost touched it.
08:10Got ahead of myself.
08:12Oh, yeah.
08:13Yeah.
08:13If I keep using this thing, eventually it will make sense.
08:17It's an odd unit.
08:18You got high heels and tools.
08:20Usually you don't see that.
08:21They don't go together.
08:22Ooh.
08:23I bet you that's a $300 beach cruiser.
08:24Weed Whackers look to be in decent used condition.
08:27Motor.
08:28Got an electric chainsaw there.
08:29This room is small, but a lot of money in it.
08:31I wish I knew what was under that blanket.
08:33All right.
08:34I got a big, nice heel and Weed Whacker unit.
08:37Here we go.
08:37Now, how much money?
08:37What are you going to pay?
08:38Say it.
08:38Come on.
08:39How much money?
08:39It can be $100 for one there.
08:41$150.
08:42$150.
08:42$150.
08:43What about you, Jane?
08:43What about two?
08:44I'll get two, there, and a two and a half, two and a half, two and a three.
08:46$300.
08:47Three.
08:47What about three and a half?
08:47I'll get three and a half, two, back.
08:48What about four?
08:49I got $400 bucks.
08:50$400 a quarter.
08:50$425.
08:51$425.
08:52Going once, twice, $425 and a half.
08:54You got it.
08:55Ivy.
08:55$400 bucks Ivy.
08:58I've seen your yard.
08:59You weren't weed whacking nothing.
09:00Nope.
09:01Some guys play the market, but I prefer a long-term investment.
09:04it. Well, let's dig into it and see what we got. Lights, lens, candles, shoes, CDs, probably
09:11a $10 box. Pots and pans. Another $10 here. Ooh, an edger. Or what we say in the hood,
09:21a little minibike engine. This right here will sell really quick for $100 because everybody
09:25where I live puts those in minibike engines and they're the thing right now. Size 17 is
09:30a little small, but still a good $50. Ooh, a Toro. Good brand. All righty. That's a good
09:37$100 right there. Old school beach cruiser. Got a place to put your beer or your non-alcoholic
09:42beverage. Got the old school pedal brakes, which everybody wants. Even got the fender with
09:46the light on it. Bam. They usually go about $300. All these tires right here, $20 a pop.
09:52$20, $40, $60. This is a combo lock. Not good. Ooh, that's not good. When you can pick it up
09:59with a pinky. Oh, wait a minute. Hey, secret compartment. Unsecret compartment, I guess you
10:08could say. Hello? Anybody in there? It's broken, so no money. It's a good looking TV. Nice
10:18and thin. Probably about a 48-incher. Easy $150 there. All righty. I'm in the black. On the
10:27black. And black. Always bet on black. Ugh. What we got in there? Something good? Something
10:33maybe. Well, and no money. Three speakers. $40 easy. Ooh. This looks like it might have
10:42been an old school blower that you put in your back or something. I don't know. Maybe
10:47I can turn it into a flamethrower. Maybe it'll wind up jet packs. Got a propeller back here
10:52and you fly. Well, $50. This one right here open up. Oh, kind of cool. Kind of slides back. Something
11:01slides back too good, but it does slide back. Wow. What we got here? Ooh.
11:10Oh, kind of cool. Kind of slides back. Something slides back too good, but it does slide back.
11:14Wow. What we got here? Ooh. Childhood days. Oh, damn. Got a guy woken up the way before
11:23the drive home. Guess I get to go home sleepy. Back in my day, we used to lick batteries for
11:28fun.
11:29The internet wasn't invented yet. Well, this and the whole case, everything in it, $50.
11:35Transmissions are sought after GM products. $30 on that one. $25 on that one. Electric edger.
11:41Looks pretty good condition. $25. And these guys, weed whackers. It's summertime. Weeds are growing
11:47like crazy. They look to be in really good condition. That one missing the cover. $50 there.
11:51That one missing the cover. $40. Ooh, that's a good looking one here. $25. And last but not least,
12:01no money there. Oh well. Take my little profit and be on my way. Decent locker. Good profit. But I
12:08didn't come here to stop it. Good. Time to get back.
12:17Woo! Okay. Looks like my closet.
12:24Very, very odd unit. Some bikes, clothes, jeans, baseball baths. Very, very interesting unit right here.
12:32Yeah, those look like actually some vintage Levi's. I'm not really seeing any refurbishing projects,
12:38but I see a lot of mystery. I might just grab those jeans and run.
12:43There's a lot of stuff hiding in here. There's a lot of items. I see a folding table. Then there's
12:49furniture on the bunk, a bicycle. I don't know. I'm leaving it up to you. Oh, there is a Chicago
12:55Bears hat. I am a fan. I don't know if you knew that. I didn't, but I'm glad you are.
12:59A drumstool.
13:01Maybe there's more instruments in here. You could put the whole band back together. We're getting the
13:04air band back together, you know? Right. I'm going to play the jugs.
13:10I'm not touching that. Nope.
13:15All right, here we go. Number 20. When do you get a pay? Say it. How much? How much? How
13:17much?
13:17How much money? Where? We got 100 there. 100 and a half. 150. 150 there. Now 2. What about 2
13:21to do?
13:22I got 200 up front. 2 and a half. You're at a 2 and a half. Now 1 to 3.
13:253. 3 there. And 3 and a half.
13:26I got 350. I got 350. 400. I got 400. I got 450. I got 450. 4 there. 4 to
13:31half.
13:31I got 450. 450 there. 75 where? 450 here. 475 now. 475 going to one surprise at 475 and I
13:37sold it.
13:38Joey, Brandi. You got it for her. 450. Woo! You got it, Brandi. There you go.
13:45I'm giving headliner energy and I didn't even break a sweat. Something's good. I know it. I just know it.
13:55Uh-oh. These are big doors. These are granddaddy lockers.
14:03Oh! Big door! All the way up. Yes! Wow! Cleopatra. He's got some antiques, some goodies for ya.
14:12Wow, that's gothic. Furnitures! Big door, big deal.
14:19Oh, man. Look at all this antique furniture. I like this old dresser here. That could definitely use
14:25a little sanding and polishing. Those little Tiffany lamps. A cart to tote it all home in. This is a
14:32really good locker. Actually, the only thing that I don't like about this locker is it's going to be
14:37really expensive. All right. Got a lot of old, expensive furniture in here. Love the granny cart.
14:43One of my most favorite things on earth. A little yoga mat. Love those. Ooh, I love that old pot
14:47right
14:47there. That is the sweetest statue I've ever seen. I put that in my front yard and just watch birds
14:52land on it all day. And definitely you, sweetie. Love angels. Angels remind me of myself.
14:57I love the ottomans. The wardrobe is amazing. These Tiffany lamps in the back.
15:04It's going to go for a lot, but maybe I'll dabble and see what happens. I like it.
15:10There's a little bit of boxes. There's an art piece. There's a lot of potential. You like it?
15:16Yeah. It's interesting. All right. I'm going to be going nice. 12 by 20 unit full of furniture.
15:21Here we go. What a bunch of money. Who give you a hundred bucks? We've got a hundred bucks there.
15:24A hundred and a half way. A hundred and a half there. Now two. Two right there.
15:27A hundred and a half. A hundred and a half there. Now two. Two right there. A hundred and a
15:29half. A hundred and a
15:39half of them. Seven and a half. Seven fifty where? Seven hundred. Going one. Seven and a half.
15:42Going twice. Lesson. Find a call in. Seven and a half. All in or through. All through. All done.
15:45Got it. Got it for seven hundred. We stole it. I feel like a thief.
15:52Only seven hundred for that locker? I can't believe they got it for that.
15:56It's like he just pulled that out of thin air. That's not just a win. That's wizardry. Magic.
16:02Folks, that's the end of the auction and don't forget to pay the ladies. See you in the office,
16:06everyone. You ready to see what we just stole? Yeah, I can't believe we got so cheap.
16:10Look at this box. It's empty. That's nice though. 75. It's decorative angel. 50 bucks. Yeah,
16:18definitely. It's kind of heavy, but not as heavy as it looks. I mean, it looks like concrete. 50 bucks.
16:24Good old campfire beans. Nice. Nice little cast iron kettle. 50 bucks.
16:31They're scarves. Designer scarf. That's at least like 150. Ooh, these are bags. I love these little
16:38jewelry bags. When these bags have jewelry, they always have really good jewelry. This one actually,
16:44I hear noise. Oh. You're dropping stuff. Oh. Really? Oh, it looks pretty good.
17:05Wait a minute. Ooh. This looks real. Yeah. Wow. Look at this one's 22 carat. 22? Look how dark the
17:15mustardy color is. It's going to be 22 to 24 carat, this bracelet. Wow. You're excited. Oh, yeah. There's
17:21more. Ooh. I'm like, yeah. This one's really nice. Let my broken head calculate this math real
17:29quick. The pretty earrings and the sellable pieces. Easily 40 grams. This is 2,500 minimum. Really?
17:36At today's gold price. Did I not say these bags are my favorite? I do. I know. These type of
17:41bags
17:42always yield sweet, precious metals. Oh, here's like a treadmill we got your mom. Easy to store. You
17:51Oh, this looks nice. Sides are lacquered, little brass embellishments. I would say it's at least
17:55from the 60s or 70s. We'll price it 300. Oh, we got a nice crystal. What brand is it? Gorham.
18:02Gorham's a great brand. This is not cheap stemware. I think I could get at least 200 for all this.
18:07This is actually a really good brand. This is all Royal Albert. Ooh, from England.
18:11We have two 20-piece sets. It's 200 a box. Christmas stuff. Ooh, people like nutcrackers.
18:17Don't scare me. They scare you? Yeah, I'm terrified of nutcrackers. Oh, you're not, really?
18:22They crack nuts. 50 bucks worth of stuff. These are new decorative Tiffany-style lamps. 100 bucks
18:28a piece. Antique mirrors, framed artworks. There's at least another 100 bucks right there. Okay.
18:34Oh, this one looks fun. What is it? Little handbags. Look how you got me on the old ball and
18:40chain.
18:41I do. Want some grapes? Hold these purses. How much? You're the purse expert.
18:46Mm-hmm. 250. What about these? Those are nice. They're heavy. It's stained glass.
18:52Wow, those are really cool. If they're a real Tiffany, they'd be signed, really.
18:56Those are nice. The whole in the sun. Are they all the same?
18:58Yeah, and then none of them are broken. No cracks. I made at least 500 bucks.
19:04What's that? Christmas decor. Probably make 100 bucks off all those. Okay.
19:09Dishes? 20 bucks? Easily. The carts, there's two carts. $15 each. This one looks old.
19:15The folk art-style lamp. I like the patina. Yeah, it's cool. At least like 100 bucks.
19:20This is like a Tiffany-style lamp. You can just feel it. Ooh. $75.
19:24So how about this piece of furniture? Well, you know, honestly, I'm seeing
19:28multiple things in here that look like older furniture, but I know just the perfect person.
19:35Our friends from the Pasadena Antique Center. Oh, yeah. They'd be perfect.
19:39Well, let's analyze everything we have here, and then we'll give them a call when we go to lunch.
19:44Okay. Yeah. And I'm hungry. Oh, yeah. Good job.
19:49All right. I paid $4.50 for this bad boy. You better end up being a good boy.
19:59All right. Is this someone's leftovers? Ew.
20:06Gross. Oh, I probably should have got some gloves, huh?
20:11Where are you going to put that? Bend over and I'll show you.
20:15All right. Oh, look. It's like a little baby one. It's so cute. It's my size.
20:21Wait. That's perfect. Five dollars.
20:27Lay on the jugs. All right. Let's see what we got in our suitcase.
20:36Oh. Hair's jersey. Who we got? Who we got? Who we got? Oh, Walter Payton. 30 bucks.
20:41All right. This is a nice chair.
20:45Oh, $40. I don't know where one acquires a giant orange mattress cover. You think it wasn't orange
20:52when they got it? It's got a little patina on it. Oh. Ugh. No value.
21:02Oh, I like this. This is very innovative. Here's a little beanie for seat cover. Keep your biscuits
21:07soft. Soft. No money. A little air conditioning unit. Probably get $40 for the AC.
21:13Lisa thought she was the only one. Guess what? Look at that. I can keep mine up.
21:20Five bucks.
21:25Oh, my God. Did you see that reflex? Because that was embarrassing.
21:29Does anybody want a pizza? It's a pizza hut. That is a first, ladies and gentlemen. I have
21:38never found a pizza in a locker. Definitely good appraisal on this bad boy.
21:43Folding table. $20 for that. That's a nice one.
21:50Sturdy. Oh. It's a very nice bag.
21:58Oh, . It's a very nice bag. Oh, . Hold on. Look at this. Look at this.
22:14These are beautiful. I love boxing. Grew up with it. My grandpa was a boxer. The bell looks like a
22:24T. All right. Maybe this locker is starting to redeem itself. Got a T. Bell. This bag is super nice.
22:34It's boxing gear, but it's old. It's nice. I bet that this is worth some money, and I am definitely
22:42going to find somebody to tell me about this because I got to make my money back. That was the
22:46whole point of this day. I came here to recoup what I lost on my trip. Let's see.
22:53This is garbage. Cast irons. Oh, these are cool. I love these. Look at these. These are great. $75.
23:08Talk about a junk drawer. I think we might be at the end of this. So, phone a friend about
23:16the
23:17boxing gear and take a shower. I got to find out what these items are worth, but maybe I should
23:24take
23:24up boxing. I think I know a guy. Ivy. Oh, thank God you're still here. Yeah. I got some boxing
23:33gear. I
23:33just wondered if you wanted to take a look at it and tell me if you know anything about it.
23:37Sounds good.
23:38Look at this. Head gear. Real leather stuff, too. With the mouth protector. Look at this.
23:43Oh, old school head gear. Wow. I know. Look how pretty these gloves are. I don't know if they're
23:48pretty no more. Okay. I'm going to set it right here. It's working. So, you know the first thing
23:54about boxing, right? What's the first thing? Chin down. Oh, yeah. That's the most delicate part.
23:58Keep your chin down, so no matter what happens, chin down, you're safe. Well, you take this stuff,
24:02find out what it's worth, then come by Grandma's attic, and I'll show you how to use it. Okay. I'm
24:07down.
24:13$2.50 for this locker. I don't need a hammer to tell me that I nailed it.
24:20So little and tidy. I love it. Okay. Let's just dive right in.
24:27Okay. I might just start with this fun rug because this rug really caught my eye.
24:33It's giant and antique rugs. Go for quite a bit of money, but let's just see how it looks.
24:40Woo. That's why Mama does Pilates.
24:43Ooh. Yes. This is definitely a nice rug. We got some nice colors. There's clearly no stains. Just
24:52clean it up, and it's almost in mint condition. This is $700 rug. Slam dunk. Well,
24:58I really pulled the rug out from underneath them, didn't I? What's this? This looks kind of funky
25:03and old. Ooh. Is it a sewing machine? Free the machine. Ooh. 50 bucks.
25:11Okay. Box. Oh, DVDs. 50 bucks.
25:17Toaster oven with all the fixings. 65 bucks.
25:22Huh. It's like circle time. It's a circle time, Matt. 10 bucks.
25:27All right. Children's bucks. 50 bucks for the bin of children's books.
25:33Hey, look. These go with my outfit. These are pretty new. Cute little sneakers. 25 bucks.
25:39There's anything in here worth looking at. All right. What's in this?
25:46Uh, I hope this isn't a fruitcake.
25:50Oh, that's kind of cool. It's like a lucite pyramid. Yeah. And then this, um, this is kind of a
25:59cool
25:59box. I don't... It's made out of some sort of stone. Ooh. Kind of gem jewelry. Who doesn't love gem
26:08jewelry? It's California. I like to call this crystal woo-woo power, but you know what? These could be
26:14super valuable stones. I just don't know. So maybe I should find some
26:19woo-woo-ologist who could tell me how much these are worth. Whoa, whoa. I am not disparaging the
26:24woo-woo community. Don't come after me, witches. Moving on. Oh, Lego kit. $25.
26:34This looks like workout DVDs. 50 bucks. Hmm. An assortment of items in here. A little puffer coat.
26:4320 bucks online. And the lady clogs. 40 bucks. Hell yeah. We got some cowboy boots. 60 bucks.
26:55All right. Here's some girly dunks. Nikes. 25 bucks. Some more cute lady clogs. 40 bucks.
27:04Mary Jane's. 25. Hush puppies. 25 bucks. All right. This box is less exciting. Ooh. Hang on. Hang on.
27:21I was wrong. What the heck? I'm guessing some Middle Eastern carafe. Oh, it's like the genie lamp.
27:32How do you get a wish out of a container? Do you rub it or do you spank it? I
27:36guess it depends on what
27:46I'm going to say. I'm going to say $1.25 for the whole set. I love this little bag. Take
27:51it to the
27:51farmer's market. But that's a $20 bag. Christmas decorations. 20 bucks. Ooh. Oh. Oh. This is
28:00something I like. I don't know if it's a knockoff or what. It says it's a coach bag and it's
28:05got a
28:06number on it. So this is actually a real coach bag. $75. That's cute. Five bucks. Ah. There we go.
28:16Take a little mid-locker nap. Some sort of really cool tapestry. Definitely vintage. I'm going to say
28:25$150. Okay. Here we got some pottery. Little ceramic carafe. More pottery. Okay. It does have a stamp.
28:34It looks like Arabic. For these two, I'm going to say $100. Ah. My fixer-upper. Okay. Well, first,
28:44let's see if there's anything good in here. Bunch of stuffed animals. 20 bucks. This is actually the
28:48main reason I bought this locker. So I know exactly what I'm going to do with this trunk. I'm going
28:53to
28:53repurpose it, refurbish it, upcycle it. And I definitely made my money back and then some.
28:59I've got my fixer-upper. And then I've got my woo-woo jewelry that I can find out how much
29:04that's worth.
29:05And I'd say I pretty much crushed it, nailed it. This gal did not get screwed.
29:16Oh, look, they're here. Yay! Yay! We made it!
29:19Daryl Fisher and Leah McNabb are here from the Pasadena Antique Center to check out our locker.
29:24These two have probably forgotten more about antiques than I've ever learned.
29:27Absolutely. We got some furniture. Only the finest for the Pasadena Antiques Center.
29:32There you go. Yes. We only take the finest. That's right.
29:34Step into my office. Nice Italian chest. That's a beautiful armoire.
29:40Probably 1890s? 1910? Yeah, late 19th century, for sure.
29:45Oh, wow. Why does it have all these little holes in it?
29:49That's European wormwood. Really? From Europe.
29:52That's what you want to see. Yeah.
29:53If it's not there, then you have to ask questions.
29:56So it's not like moth holes on a sweater? It is not.
29:58It's just something that you'll always see on good early pieces.
30:02There's no worms in it still, is there? No.
30:04No, they're going to be pretty dead. Yep. Okay.
30:07This is the mirror for the dresser. A set is really nice to have because people oftentimes want the whole
30:13set.
30:13But if you wanted to make the most of the money, you'd break them up.
30:17Does it ever make you feel sad to break up something that's been together for like 100 years?
30:20We usually don't break them up. Unless they offer us money.
30:25The dresser, 20s, 30s American, with lots of carving and design, fancy mirrors, fancy parquetry patterns.
30:34This is really nice. It's a Victorian oil lamp. You can see the font where the oil would have gone
30:39in.
30:40Look at the chain. It has little wheels.
30:42What the chain does is the lamp's hanging from the ceiling and you move that weight.
30:47It's a counterbalance. Yeah.
30:49The lamp will come down.
30:50You can light the oil lamp and then you lower it and the lamp goes up.
30:54Oh.
30:54And this is really amazing that it still exists because obviously it's glass.
30:59And original.
30:59It's going to be original.
31:01So the fact that they're not broken is pretty good.
31:04It's a miracle.
31:04Yeah.
31:05Well, what about this bench? Is that something that would sell in the center?
31:09Absolutely. Decorative sells all the time. And it's beautiful shape. The size will fit in so many
31:17places that big items won't fit in.
31:19Wow.
31:19I really like this.
31:21It is decorative. It's clean. Maybe 60s or 70s, would you think?
31:26Yeah.
31:27It's complete. It's a great little set. I would definitely have it in my shop.
31:31With everything you've seen, with the bedroom sets and the small sets and the lamp,
31:36what would you say for everything?
31:38All of it together?
31:41All in good numbers.
31:43I'd say that you have...
31:487,000.
31:49Wow. We didn't get bamboozled on this one.
31:52Get it, Lupe.
31:53Congratulations.
31:55It's always a pleasure. I'll bring it in.
32:02I'm taking a day trip to Topanga Rocks and, of course, Topanga Canyon.
32:08Author and spiritual teacher Elizabeth April is going to give me a mystical masterclass.
32:14I hope she vibes on these crystals I found in my locker.
32:17Are you Elizabeth?
32:19Oh, hi. Yes, I am. Lisa?
32:22I am Lisa.
32:23Nice to meet you.
32:24I'm actually Elizabeth. That's my birth name, but I go by Lisa.
32:27I love that name.
32:27Yes, right? It's a great name.
32:30Yeah.
32:30Well, I have some kind of groovy items.
32:35All right. Let's check out what you got.
32:37So, are you aware of what any of this is?
32:41Rocks?
32:42Gems?
32:43Oh, you're close.
32:44Let's just take a look at this. This is called Organite.
32:47Okay.
32:48So, this is man-made. You've got resin, which kind of brings everything together.
32:52And then you've also got crystals in here as well.
32:54Typically, they use copper, aluminum, sometimes brass.
32:58And that's because they're very conductive.
33:01Oh.
33:01So, the point of Organite is to move the energy from a room.
33:05Okay. So, you're trying to get energy out of a room.
33:08Yes, you are.
33:09I like that.
33:09Yeah. So, if you're having a bad day, you know, just some bad vibes,
33:13this is going to do the trick for you.
33:15Maybe post-breakup?
33:16Yeah. Post-breakup for sure.
33:18Okay.
33:18Get the ice cream, grab some Organite.
33:20Or both.
33:21Or both.
33:21Yeah, that works too.
33:23This looks like selenite.
33:25You can tell by the shine on it.
33:27Selenite is a crystal.
33:29What's really cool about selenite is that it will clear its own energy.
33:34Oh.
33:34So, all these other crystals have to be cleared either by sage or moonlight.
33:40That's why they make containers like this out of selenite.
33:43And you put all your crystals in it to clear the energy of those crystals.
33:47Oh, so it not only clears its own energy, but it clears the energy of other things.
33:52Of other things.
33:52Of other things.
33:53Yes, absolutely.
33:54If only I could fit in that box.
33:55Yeah, exactly.
33:56So, I guess selenite is like a tool that refurbishes your soul.
34:02Far out, man.
34:04Now, what do you have here?
34:07Jewelry.
34:08Wow.
34:09This is absolutely incredible.
34:11It is?
34:12Grab a flashlight here.
34:14This looks like Moldavite.
34:16Look how green it is.
34:18Yeah.
34:19So, if you see that coloration there.
34:21Wow.
34:22It's a really good indication that we've got some authentic Moldavite here.
34:25And these are really big pieces.
34:28So, even though people consider Moldavite to be one of the most powerful crystals out there.
34:32Oh, is that right?
34:33It's actually not a crystal.
34:34Okay.
34:35It's considered a tektite because 15 million years ago, right?
34:42A meteor hit southern Germany, and that's where all of the Moldavite comes from.
34:47One location from one major meteorite.
34:50It's scarce.
34:51It's super rare.
34:52Oh, Elizabeth.
34:54This is exciting.
34:55Although, I'm also curious, what are the powers?
35:00So, people experience some very weird things when they hold Moldavite.
35:06Oh, I like this.
35:08Because it is the offspring of meteorite, and meteorite comes from space,
35:12a lot of people claim that it has connection to extraterrestrials.
35:18People have claimed to hold it and get something called a Moldavite flush.
35:23So, they'll get super lightheaded, or maybe get a hot flash, or a tingly sensation across their body.
35:29Not menopause.
35:30No.
35:31Moldavite.
35:31Yeah, exactly.
35:32Okay, okay.
35:33Okay.
35:34Well, so, now that we've gotten the supernatural stuff, what are you thinking about the monetary,
35:42the green aura of these goods?
35:45You've got some good stuff here.
35:47Moldavite is super rare, hard to come across.
35:50And you've got some absolutely beautiful pieces.
35:54So, for everything here.
36:01You've got some good stuff here.
36:03Moldavite is super rare, hard to come across.
36:06And you've got some absolutely beautiful pieces.
36:10So, for everything here.
36:14You've got about $1,300 here.
36:19Thank you so much.
36:20You're welcome.
36:21Thanks for coming in.
36:24I feel it.
36:25I feel it.
36:31This is exciting.
36:32I'm at Brick City Boxing to show my retro gear to owner Joe Hanks.
36:35He's a former professional boxer.
36:37And frankly, kind of a big deal.
36:44Hey.
36:45Hey.
36:46Joe.
36:46How you doing?
36:47Brandy.
36:47Pleasure to meet you, Brandy.
36:48Nice to meet you.
36:49Is this okay right here?
36:51Absolutely.
36:51This is perfect.
36:52This gym is great.
36:53How long have you been here?
36:54We've been about four years here in Pasadena.
36:57Brick City is actually North, New Jersey where I'm from.
36:59So, that's where the name comes from.
37:00Okay.
37:00So, I'm going to bring that old east coast here to the west coast.
37:03My grandpa was a boxer.
37:04Really?
37:05Yeah.
37:06Yeah.
37:06He was featherweight, but he was really good.
37:07Oh, cool.
37:08Yeah.
37:08Boxing is just my world.
37:10This is my life.
37:10Oh, I love that.
37:11So, what do I got here?
37:13The suede bag is really cool.
37:14I mean, they don't even make bags like this anymore.
37:16Only guys who make in the big bank, they're using these now.
37:20Look at that.
37:20Look at this fella.
37:22Sparring headgear.
37:23Yeah.
37:23The quality of it.
37:24Even the craftsmanship.
37:25I mean, they don't really make them as sturdy as this.
37:28They're doing that kind of mass producing now.
37:30They don't make anything like they used to.
37:31Yeah.
37:32And we got a couple of gloves.
37:35Old sparring gloves here.
37:36This is like bunting in here.
37:38This is my own sparring glove.
37:39This is like some kind of gel or something.
37:41Yeah, so those, they don't make them with the same quality as they used to.
37:44Yeah, I know.
37:44These are kind of whack.
37:46Wow.
37:46These are big.
37:48Is that for your big old hand?
37:49I got a lot of room in here.
37:50I could put two of my hands in here.
37:53And we got this bell.
37:56Mm-hmm.
37:56We don't use this bell anymore, but this is a really cool vintage piece.
38:00But now we have electric bells.
38:05But still works.
38:06And I got this.
38:07Older sparring headgear.
38:09It's got some mouths on it.
38:10Now it's a little roughed up.
38:11Obviously, it was used.
38:12Does that give it more value, or do you think it's less value?
38:15It gives it more character.
38:16It shows it has history.
38:17It tells a story.
38:18So you'll see these things go up at auctions.
38:20As a showpiece, some guy put it up in the gym, put it up in the man cave.
38:24Hell, even a bar.
38:25Yeah.
38:26How old do you think this is?
38:2730s, 40s.
38:28So this is actually my own personal headgear that I would use,
38:31because I like the old school look.
38:33As you can see how we evolved, there's no padding here.
38:36Right.
38:37This has a lot of padding here in the front.
38:38So now this one actually evolved into one of these.
38:42So now we have them where you have the bar going across the whole face.
38:45Okay.
38:45So you'll see literally how the headgear has evolved over time.
38:49All right, all right.
38:50Don't pull any punches.
38:52What do you think I got here collectively?
38:54When you're talking about being a collector,
38:55and you're talking about a purist of the sport, these things, they're gold.
39:00Collectively, I think all together, if you write collector,
39:03I think we can get about 700 bucks for everything.
39:10Okay.
39:11So nice meeting you.
39:12I appreciate it.
39:13And thank you for welcoming me into your gym.
39:15Well now, the only real way to welcome you to the gym is by going and getting the ring.
39:21All right.
39:23Open those fingers up for me.
39:24There you go.
39:25Good?
39:26Yep.
39:26All right, so let's start with a little jump rope.
39:28And you're on, champ.
39:29That's your bell.
39:30Okay.
39:31I haven't jumped rope in a long time.
39:32There you go.
39:33I was told there would be no jump roping.
39:35At the boxing gym?
39:35Okay.
39:36Now, we're going to work on the boxing stance.
39:38Hands up.
39:39Show me the one.
39:39Show me the two.
39:41Let's put it together.
39:41One, two.
39:42All right.
39:43You're going to give me one, two.
39:44You're going to duck down.
39:45One, two.
39:46Go around.
39:46Beautiful.
39:47Again, one, two, duck under there.
39:48Come on, that right hand.
39:49Beautiful.
39:51There you go.
39:52You got this, bro.
39:55You got this.
39:56You can do it.
39:57Get out.
39:57Come on.
39:58Get out.
39:58There you go.
39:59One, two.
40:00One, two.
40:01One, two, duck.
40:02Oh, good.
40:03It'll work, champ.
40:04Okay.
40:05Grandpa be proud.
40:11This chest I found in my locker is so cute,
40:14but I'm going to upgrade it.
40:16Okay.
40:17Let's see.
40:17We're just going to give it a good standing.
40:19Get your surface real smooth.
40:22All right.
40:23Voila.
40:24That's it.
40:25Right there.
40:27Oh, yeah.
40:29Oh, look at that.
40:32Oh, yeah.
