00:03Photographing the Milky Way is a hobby for several photographers.
00:06But what Selene and her friend never imagined was what they were about to see in the sky.
00:11Saturday night.
00:13At one point I see a glow to my side, between Azopardo and Bordenave.
00:19And when I look over there I see it clearly, something, but a very strong light, like it's falling like this.
00:24At that moment I didn't say anything, I was a little scared, but I didn't say anything.
00:28I don't know if I would have seen it; we even had the lights on to take the photo and I didn't associate it with it.
00:34nothing at that moment.
00:35The other boy didn't say anything, so I said, well, it would have been me who would have seen it, it stayed there.
00:41An event that could have passed as just another one among so many rural stories,
00:45It took on a new significance when the next day they encountered a surprise a few meters from the main house of the ranch.
00:53Victor comes and tells me that he had found a dead heifer.
00:58He stayed there and after a while he told me that he had eaten part of the wheelbarrow.
01:03Did that catch your attention?
01:05That caught my attention because there have been several cases of mutilation here in Bordenave.
01:09never in our field, but they had appeared.
01:11When she told me that, I came to see her right away.
01:15The wheelbarrow part was missing, as you can see, it has nothing, not even its tongue or eye, they removed it
01:22clean and with the ear cut off.
01:24And he had a cut in his groin that can't be seen now, but it looks fine in the photo.
01:29It was as if they had removed part of his skin, because they had removed it.
01:34And well, it has holes in the back.
01:36At that moment, and seeing the images, the question we all ask ourselves is, what happened?
01:42Was it an animal? Was it a person?
01:45I've lived in the countryside all my life, my family too, for years, and we'd never seen anything like it.
01:50So.
01:50If they had been animals, I think we would see cases more often.
01:53Because dead cows turn up frequently, and never anything like this.
01:58Too meticulous to be an animal?
02:00Sure, too verbose.
02:02The cuts on the face, the ear, and most of all the cut on the groin.
02:06It was as if it had been cut, not even with a knife, either.
02:10because only the leather part had been removed.
02:12There was nothing marked at the bottom.
02:15"I want to burst," as the saying goes.
02:17If, based on her experience, Selene confirms that it wasn't an animal,
02:20and that even a knife cannot cut with such precision,
02:23What or who was it?
02:26I honestly think they might believe several things,
02:29And I've heard many things about mutilated animals,
02:33And it's one thing to be told, or to see photos,
02:37And seeing it in person is another thing entirely.
02:38It's the same thing that happened to us with the dogs.
02:42We have many dogs, and today they are coming closer.
02:45But yesterday when it happened, the only things that accompanied me were two dogs.
02:50one who follows me around all day,
02:52He didn't even come close; he stayed about 50 meters away, over there where the cows are.
02:56It was more or less there, it didn't even come close.
02:58And the other one must have come closer, I don't know, to within 3 meters,
03:02and he wasn't even looking in the direction of the animal,
03:05He was looking that way, and I wanted him to come closer.
03:07The only way to get closer, I grabbed him.
03:09I put it next to me to see what it would do,
03:11and the dog looked scared,
03:14and began to walk backwards,
03:16And he left, he didn't even want to come near.
03:18And as I was saying, here the animals eat bones all the time.
03:23They hunt, they're not delicate at all.
03:25They always eat bones,
03:27And I don't know, no one came near me yesterday.
03:30Now everyone will form their own hypothesis about what happened.
03:33But the doubt about the existence of extraterrestrial life remains.
03:35It will always be there,
03:36or perhaps not always.
03:48Okay, now we've recovered the audio, Mati.
03:50You were there, at the scene of the events.
03:53What was your feeling afterward?
03:54It's strange, because, well,
03:56Some people don't know much about animals.
03:59But start with logic.
04:01If it was an animal,
04:04Really, why only one part?
04:06If one animal is really going to eat another,
04:09First, it's not known how he killed him,
04:12And second, he's only going to eat the face part.
04:16from the animal's head,
04:18And he's going to drop everything else, it's strange.
04:19And if you think of a person,
04:22First, it's important to keep in mind that,
04:24According to what Selene and the people from the countryside say,
04:27The cuts are not made with a knife.
04:30The perfection of the cuts the animal had
04:31They are not made with a knife.
04:34Let's assume it was done by one person.
04:36Why did he take the parts he took?
04:39The eye and the tongue were missing.
04:42everything that was one side of the face,
04:45and some cuts, as they called them,
04:47on the side and the back.
04:49Nor does it make sense what.
04:51In other words, he didn't take the leather.
04:52He didn't take the meat.
04:54that one normally consumes from the cow.
04:56In other words, very strange things that don't add up.
04:59And if one analyzes, on the one hand,
05:01the light that the boys saw on Saturday night.
05:04Then, also, off-camera,
05:05The boys were telling us,
05:06That night the cows could be heard
05:10who were from that sector, let's say, the countryside,
05:14that they were complaining, that they were moving around a lot,
05:17and not those that were on the other side of the field.
05:21A mystery.
05:22It would be good if they intervened,
05:24perhaps veterinarians, specialists,
05:27to see what happened,
05:28because now people in the countryside are afraid,
05:29They don't know what happened.
05:31They have no rational explanation for what happened,
05:34And then myths are also generated
05:36mixed with some truths.
05:38Exactly.
05:39Mati, beyond that,
05:40Celene takes such beautiful photos.
05:42Yes, well, this is part of the job.
05:44what were they doing that night
05:46along with a friend who is from here in Bahia,
05:48Celene is from Bordenave,
05:49And they were taking these photos,
05:52They are called photos of the Milky Way,
05:53with a specific lighting
05:56and special cameras for that,
05:58They take these kinds of photos,
06:00And in between, between photos,
06:03They ended up seeing that light,
06:04that they both saw her,
06:05but at the time they didn't say anything to each other.
06:08The next day, when they found the cow,
06:10The friend tells him,
06:11I saw a light last night,
06:14And between which photo and which photo did you see her?
06:16And when we finished taking this photo,
06:17And I, yes, I saw it at that same moment too.
06:21Questions that surely everyone will have their own explanation for,
06:24or will he believe an explanation,
06:26but that we are unlikely to have,
06:28at least in the short term,
06:30a certainty of what happened
06:32Saturday night,
06:33Sunday morning,
06:34in that field of Bordenave.
