00:00you know to julia i could just go that was kind of bad or and she'll flip me off
00:22first of all how much do you lie during interviews
00:27uh i don't think i lie in during interviews actually no i just you know if i have to lie
00:33i
00:33just won't say the thing right okay go ahead give me give me something well perfect um in your opinion
00:43how much is the right amount of honesty um in a relationship because if we we say a white lie
00:51maybe we think it's good but it can be not so good if if we lie we don't lie maybe
00:59we can hurt
01:00somebody's feelings or how much is the right amount of honesty i'm still figuring it out clearly
01:07i'm not quite sure it's like i want someone to um i suppose if someone is gonna lie to me
01:13i want them
01:13to lie to me really well so that i believe them you know if someone doesn't like my film
01:19you know fake it fake it you know big time um otherwise yeah it's it's worse to be lied to
01:27and you can tell it's a lie so i don't know it's um it's a it's a fine line i
01:33think yeah so it's it's
01:35good for you that you really work with actors they can lie to you really well the actors yeah
01:45yeah yeah and um it's interesting how um this summer um many people uh were saying after uh watching
01:56barbie that they were considering um reconsidering their relationships i think that this can happen
02:03also with your movie so in european why we are more keen to consider our relationships
02:10after watching a movie then maybe after doing therapy i don't know why well i think if something
02:17gets under your skin like some you know some artistic um thing um then it moves you in a way
02:28emotionally emotionally unconsciously and i think you know obviously i think movies can be incredibly
02:34powerful and how they affect us and if they affect us a great deal it's going to inform our lives
02:40so
02:40um i think that's why i i do yeah and and a movie ticket is cheaper maybe maybe that's the
02:48reason
02:49you know you can have a bad therapist you know obviously in my film um you can have a bad
02:56therapist
02:57but you know you either like the movie or you don't you can always walk out yeah and um i'm
03:05why in your opinion are we so afraid uh to talk to each other even people that are really close
03:12to us
03:12like um father mothers sons daughters why are we so afraid to talk to each other
03:20well gee you're kind of talking to the wrong person because fortunately or unfortunately my family
03:28tells each other everything and um you know we we talk to each other uh probably a little too much
03:35and
03:35too often and uh certainly i wish you know my mother's comments uh could be kept to herself more
03:44frequently um and sometimes sometimes actually i can be a little uh too honest or too blunt with people
03:54and uh that's something i'm working on for the rest of my life um you know i want things to
04:00be said
04:00i hate secrets i i hate um innuendo or passive aggressive stuff that it's like just say it and
04:09sometimes i just say it and i hurt people's feelings and yeah and and i'm curious um and
04:20the chemistry between all the actors is amazing in this movie what is your working method are you
04:27honest with them or it's better to live to actors sometimes to get what you want tricky thing you know
04:34it's uh i'm mostly honest especially with the actors in this movie we had such a good rapport um
04:41and they loved working together so much i could you know to julia i could just go that was kind
04:48of bad
04:48or and she'll flip me off um so we can't joke around like that but usually i'm more um delicate
04:57uh with actors when i give them direction like you know that was a good way to go let's try
05:03it this
05:04way which really means like that stunk do it this way
05:10so so it depends on on the relationship that you have with okay okay and i'm curious was the song
05:18script any good oh um i don't know i didn't just i didn't decide i just knew it was going
05:27to be hard
05:27for them when they finish no matter what right yeah and and um i'm also curious since the main
05:34character um really puts her life into her work and do you do the same thing with your movies and
05:42your scripts do you put characters of your real life into your work absolutely yeah all of my scripts
05:53have been fairly personal um and i think that's what gave me the idea for this movie was how vulnerable
06:00i feel because my scripts my movies are so personal and i am in the characters and just like the
06:08character in the movie thinks you know she is her book um i often feel like i am my movies
06:16and if you
06:16don't like my movies uh-oh what about me you know um and of course i know that's not true
06:23but uh i wanted
06:26to explore it from an unconscious way really because that's how it affects me yeah and has ever happened
06:33that maybe somebody that you know recognizing itself or herself and and what was the reaction
06:40are they glad wait say that again oh they recognize themselves um yes it's kind of a mix a lot
06:48of people
06:48think they are in the movie and they're not like i know i'm that character and it's like sorry you're
06:53not
06:54um but certainly my my really close friends who i i often just quote you know them sometimes and
07:03they'll recognize it um yeah i do have a friend whose husband kept buying her leaf earrings and
07:14she had a laugh and so did her husband um yeah i didn't i didn't tell them in advance so
07:20it was a
07:21little awkward but yeah think about that the v-neck thing it's it's really true the same thing happened
07:28to me so i can relate i totally realized yes yeah it's like what yeah i gave him the v
07:37-neck he's
07:38like mom you gotta stop buying me v-necks i'm like why and i just got right into the movie
07:43i don't
07:44understand it do you no me neither but it's it's it's a real thing so thank you so much thank
07:52you
07:52i really love the movie thank you thank you
