00:00Oh ragazzi, ragazzi!
00:18So, hi, nice to meet you.
00:20How are you?
00:22First of all, I have to ask,
00:24how often do you think about the Roman Empire now?
00:30How do you think about it, Mo?
00:32I thought about it so much that I thought this show came up with that whole movement,
00:40because we were filming during the time that it actually came out.
00:43But now I still think about it nearly every day.
00:46I think I was thinking about it until the show comes out, actually.
00:49So, constantly.
00:50The show has definitely made it more frequent,
00:54but prior to the show, I think I maybe thought about it,
00:56or reflected on it maybe once a week.
01:00It's interesting how the show, yes, is set in ancient Rome,
01:06but I think that really speaks about today's world,
01:09because politicians are corrupted,
01:12and people only want to see games and to be entertained.
01:17So, how important was it to you to really enlighten this theme,
01:23how entertainment is today something that maybe distracts us from the important stuff?
01:29I mean, that is one aspect of what the show tells,
01:33and looking at it now, for me, when I...
01:35Because when you're filming, you're very focused on the storyline that you are in,
01:40and for me, that's mainly the fighting and the gladiator aspect.
01:45But then you see the show come together,
01:47and you see what all the other actors and the other stories have done.
01:51It's such a rich world.
01:52And like you said, it's the politicians, it's the emperors,
01:56it's everything that happens in the underbelly,
01:59the bedding aspect of it,
02:02the common guy,
02:03the foreigners that come in.
02:05It's such a rich environment and story,
02:09and speaks to sort of every aspect of our modern world today.
02:12Tanax says that he teaches the kids things that they need to know.
02:18Do you believe that this TV show really can teach us something important,
02:23and what it is, in your opinion?
02:25Well, it depends on the characters.
02:27You know, some characters show you the importance of family,
02:31and the importance of sticking together as family,
02:33and what it means to fight for each other
02:36and do whatever it takes for your family.
02:38So there is that aspect of it.
02:40But 100%, it teaches you, you know, friendship.
02:44It teaches you that in the most,
02:46you never know where you'll find a friend, you know.
02:49And sometimes, just like how our friendship in the story comes together,
02:53it comes in the most unlikely, uncanny of places.
02:56And just to be open to someone who, you know,
02:59you might not have a story or background with,
03:01and you never know what could happen in that friendship.
03:03You are two of the characters that really have so many fight scenes.
03:09So how was the preparation?
03:11And do you really put down a lion with your bare hands?
03:16Yeah, you've seen me do it.
03:19I've done more.
03:20I've done lions, I've done leopards, I've done, you name it.
03:23I've been there, I've done it, you know.
03:24There's a reason I become one of the main gladdies.
03:29But no, the training aspect was,
03:31we were so lucky to be in Rome way before we filmed.
03:34And we were working with the EA stunt team in Rome.
03:38And they, I mean, everyday training, rehearsing our fights.
03:42And it kind of, as they would say,
03:44it became like a dance choreography,
03:46where we were kind of basically going to dance classes daily,
03:49working on our footsteps.
03:50And then there's the physical aspect of it, for sure.
03:53Yeah.
03:53It's a lot of time that goes into it,
03:55but a very enjoyable time.
03:57And those stunt guys are absolute world class.
04:00Do you believe that in this TV show,
04:03fists are stronger than words?
04:06Well, Martin Ford's fists are stronger than words, definitely.
04:12Yeah, yeah.
04:13He's the only, those are the only fists.
04:16Since you shot in Rome, in Cinecittà,
04:20do you know some Italian words now?
04:23Ragazzi, that's my favorite word.
04:26Oh, ragazzi, ragazzi.
04:27Mine is piano piano.
04:31Piano piano.
04:32No, it's not good for your character, piano piano.
04:35It's not, but it needs a bit of piano piano.
04:39I loved, I loved on set when they,
04:42instead of saying cut, they say stop in Italy.
04:47It's such a, it's such a definitive word.
04:51Yes.
04:52Stop.
04:52Like, what?
04:53It just stops everything.
04:55Because everywhere else in the world,
04:56I think they say cut,
04:57but in Italy they say stop.
05:00It doesn't have to be good.
05:00It's too much.
05:05It's too much.
05:05It's a kitschy.
05:05The rumor mig bonito is not samma.
05:05Grazie.
