Intervista a Michael Engler, regista di Downton Abbey
Trascrizione
01:04un bel staggianto,
01:04di più optimistica di quel universo.
01:09Questo perché è tutto stato fatto all'idea
01:12sulle giorni,
01:13è sempre la fiducia.
01:15C'è sempre fatto usare da dire,
01:16perché abbiamo so praying andato,
01:47Assolutamente.
01:48In general, drama, theater, film,
01:52I think that aside from entertaining,
01:55I think it really does,
01:57it brings people more into contact
02:01with their own complicated feelings
02:04and then also with other people's.
02:06And I think the sense of sort of bringing people
02:07that you are not familiar with
02:10and kind of understanding from the inside
02:14what they're going through, I think it does.
02:16because it makes very political things very personal.
02:19It's important in the movie understand
02:22what is important to fight for.
02:25How can we understand it every day?
02:27Because it's difficult.
02:28I think that's true.
02:30And I think one of the interesting things
02:33about Downton always is that everybody,
02:37whether they're family, you know,
02:41and very entitled and have a lot of, you know, everything,
02:45opportunity, money, and the servants, the workers,
02:49the people at every step of the ladder of society,
02:53they all have to find a balance between
02:55how can they be part of the bigger whole,
02:59the greater good, and contribute to that,
03:02but also how they can be happy themselves,
03:06how they can find meaning.
03:08And sometimes there's a real tension in those things.
03:10And I think that's probably the core of what it's always about,
03:16which is how you can be true to yourself
03:17and still fit in and be part of a bigger world.
03:21Women in Downton Abbey were strong before
03:25the Me Too movement was cool.
03:27So how great are these women in Downton Abbey?
03:30Well, I think that's one of the things
03:33that I think Julian has always been interested in,
03:36which is in every period, even when women were not as powerful,
03:42not as vocal, whatever, there were always smart women.
03:45There were always talented, creative, powerful women,
03:48and they just had to find different ways to express it
03:51and to use it.
03:53And that, I think, is his gift in that way.
03:56And it's very subtle and it's not overtly political,
04:00but I think all of his writing in that way
04:03is actually quite feminist.
04:05One character says,
04:06I'll be fine until I'm not.
04:08It's a very strong way to see life.
04:13So how can we do it like that character?
04:16Well, I think what she's talking about there is,
04:19you know, we all have struggles to deal with,
04:21and the most important thing is to just keep moving forward
04:25and being engaged with other people
04:29and trying to create meaning with other people
04:32until you can't.
04:34Okay, thank you so much.
04:35Thank you.

04:48Thank you.

04:50No va sitten.
04:50Oh,arettes Il mesmocka!
04:51Do you feel like here's a theater
04:51on a background here?
