00:38Like many TV shows, now we have VandaVision, some years ago, Legion, all the action is in the mind of
00:48your character.
00:49So when your opinion on television is exploring more and more the mind of their main characters, Queen's Gambit, everything
01:00happens in your minds.
01:02Why? Why are you so fascinated by minds?
01:07That's an interesting question.
01:09You know, Steve Yockey, who helped create this show, he had a very brilliant, he brought that idea of the
01:19mind palace for our show, for Cassie.
01:22And being able, because in the book, you know, this is based on a book that I optioned many years
01:26ago.
01:26And in the book, obviously, Alex dies very quickly and he's gone.
01:29So he was trying to figure out a way that we could keep Alex alive and keep Cassie kind of
01:36fighting with herself, in a sense, right?
01:38And so he thought up this mind palace thing.
01:41And it definitely, it was a leap of faith because I didn't know how it was going to look or
01:46how it was going to be.
01:47And was it going to look silly or how do we manage to make this look realistic?
01:51But we kind of invented our own little thing.
01:54And yeah, it requires, it required a lot of acting, I guess.
01:59There was a lot going on in there.
02:00And then even for season two, I'm curious how we're going to, we want to make sure we keep that
02:05mind palace alive.
02:07And basically, instead of her facing Alex, I think it's really going to be about her facing herself.
02:13I'm the opposite of Cassie in that, that I am early to everything.
02:17I'm never late.
02:18You will never, I'm never late.
02:19In fact, I am the annoying girl that's early for dinner, which is just as annoying as someone being late.
02:25I'm the first, I'm always the first one there.
02:27I've never had a problem with that.
02:29My dad used to say, if you're not 10 minutes early, you're late.
02:32So that's just kind of in my soul.
02:34I can't help it.
02:35So that's, I think, where we differ.
02:38And I definitely enjoy alcohol, but not the way Cassie does.
02:43She's an extremist.
02:45Penny, too, was judged by all her co-stars.
02:50What's your relationship with judgment?
02:52Because we do that a lot.
02:55And you were saying, especially about women.
02:58Yeah, we do that a lot.
03:00It's very easy to judge anything, anyone that anyone's doing.
03:03And I think being an actor, that's the hardest part.
03:06That's what acting is.
03:07You're literally being judged on a performance, how you look, if that person's better than you, prettier, thinner, whatever it
03:13is.
03:13You're always being judged.
03:15And I've gotten used to that for so long.
03:17And it's like, I also found being a producer in this process and seeing the true, truly what goes into
03:24creating the show.
03:25I've said this multiple times, but my judgments have gone down.
03:31It's like when we're watching a show, we're like, oh, why did they hire that person?
03:34Or, oh, my God, I hate how they did it.
03:36That has all gone away.
03:37Because I know how hard it is.
03:40I know, I'm sure there were a million problems up to that point.
03:43Or maybe someone quit.
03:45Or there's so many issues that go on to get a project up.
03:49I mean, it's hard to make crap.
03:51And by the way, no one wants to make something mediocre.
03:54Have you ever heard?
03:55Like, no one wants to make something that's just okay.
03:57So my heart, I definitely wish I had known this sooner.
04:01Just even as a producer, seeing the difficulties that it takes.
04:04So coming back to judgment, my judgments are way lower.
04:08We're all guilty of it.
04:09But there is, I don't, the minute, if anyone makes anything now and it gets on TV, I'm like, you
04:13win.
