00:03two of the greatest comedic movie stars,
00:07and she was right there, non-intimidated, fearless,
00:11and went into it with such a passion and commitment to her character.
00:18And I think she completely stands out in this movie,
00:21and I'm so proud of her performance and of her
00:25because, you know, she brought it. She brought it.
00:30I'm such a big fan of Alan Alda's as an actor.
00:33And as a person, he's such a likable guy.
00:36I didn't want a guy that you can say,
00:38oh, that's the villain. He's the bad guy.
00:39He's, you know, he's going to end up being the bad guy in this movie.
00:44He's so likable, so charming, so warm that when he does it,
00:48I want the audience to be like Josh's character.
00:50He doesn't quite believe it. There's no way.
00:53Pinched myself when I was working with Eddie Murphy
00:55because when the camera was on him,
00:58I mean, you know, he could be on the side of the car,
01:01in between takes, telling me a joke,
01:03doing a character, laughing, having fun,
01:05and all of a sudden the camera's on him,
01:07and he's like, he becomes that guy instantaneously.
01:11And there's nothing like a close-up on Eddie Murphy.
01:14I can tell you that right now.
01:15I mean, he brings it.
01:17He's so committed. He's so focused.
01:20I believed in the big idea.
01:21I felt like it struck a nerve.
01:23It was a huge idea because it was a genre that I loved,
01:27that I was a big fan of.
01:28I've watched almost every single heist movie ever made,
01:31you know, and I really understood
01:35that there was nothing for me cooler,
01:37for me as a filmmaker,
01:39to make a New York, a quintessential New York heist movie
01:42that was grounded in reality,
01:44that had great characters,
01:45that had comedy, that was fun and everything,
01:48but that had a heart.
