00:07Working with Gonzalo
00:08was particularly rewarding
00:10for me in this whole process and
00:12we sort of established very quickly
00:13that we had a kind of creative chemistry
00:18I really respect
00:19Gonzalo as an artist, I think
00:22that's really why I wanted to do the film, I think
00:23he's going to make something that's different
00:25in the very least, he's going to be
00:27a different spin
00:29on a genre that you
00:31have seen before
00:46Gonzalo
00:47Lopez Gallego, he was obviously
00:49a major part
00:51of bringing the talent to the movie
00:56Gonzalo is the king
00:57he is one of the most
00:59extraordinary people I've ever met
01:01Gonzalo is brilliant
01:03one of the best directors I've ever worked with
01:05Gonzalo is a very gifted filmmaker
01:07I think
01:09his idea for this film was
01:11death and beauty and the references
01:13that he started to send us
01:15that supported what he wanted to do
01:17were kind of mind blowing
01:18in a way we never thought about how to make this film
01:21What was really nice on this film
01:23is that Gonzalo
01:24really took the time to rehearse with us
01:26before we got on set
01:28and before we did anything else
01:29and we were lucky to have that time
01:32to find our characters
01:33we didn't immediately
01:35jump into rehearsing pages
01:37or rehearsing scenes at all
01:38he was much more interested in us developing
01:40these guys
01:42Gonzalo and I talked a lot
01:44beforehand and we did a lot of improvisation
01:47which is so helpful
01:49just with Gonzalo
01:51and then also with the other characters
01:52we did long talks before we shot the movie
01:56and
01:56he really helped me a lot
01:58he wanted me to practice
02:00not to talk at home
02:02and be an observer
02:04just try to get into the mute character
02:14more and more
02:16as we go on filming this
02:18I realise that it really is an actor's dream
02:21I'm not just saying that
02:21I don't think I've ever worked with a director
02:24who is that open
02:25who gives us that much freedom
02:27and yet somehow still kind of manipulates it all
02:30to get what he wants
02:31it's really
02:34I'm really thoroughly enjoying it
02:36the trust is so high
02:38amongst all the cast
02:39I mean we all have a love affair with Gonzalo
02:41because he's just incredible
02:42and you just talk to any of us
02:44we're all like that
02:45he's the best
02:47actually the second I met him
02:49I knew that I want to work with him
02:52I worked with a couple of great directors
02:54and my favourite thing on
02:56while shooting a film was
02:57watching my directors working
02:59and I haven't had that for a long time
03:03for a couple of years
03:04and I have this now
03:05and I have this with Gonzalo
03:07and also
03:08it's so beautiful to watch
03:10them both going guerrilla style
03:12him and his DP
03:14across the room
03:15Gonzalo thinks something
03:16he'll look and you'll see
03:17Jose and he'll call him Pep
03:18which only he's allowed to do
03:20Pep
03:22that's all they need to do
03:24and they know
03:25they've worked together so long
03:26and they have such a shared
03:29concept of visually what they're trying to achieve
03:32that it's a joy
03:34because they're just like that
03:36they come as a pair
03:37and I would never take them apart
03:38because they work beautifully together
03:40and having seen some of the stuff
03:42that they've been shooting
03:43I think we're going to have a very pretty picture on our hands
03:46he makes it visually appealing
03:47as well as emotionally appealing
03:49I see what Gonzalo has been seeing this whole time
03:52and seeing his vision come into fruition
03:54watching the dailies
03:55that are phenomenal
03:56it's just the contrast of the beauty
03:58with the horror
03:59is something that
04:01is going to add a lot to the element
04:03to make this film an exciting motion picture
04:06we wanted to make something that was special
04:08and could break out
04:09and we needed a great storyteller
04:11we're trying to make a film
04:12and not just a horror film
04:14his background as an editor
04:15helps when he's shooting
04:17because you know
04:18in these sort of sized movies
04:20you have to think quick on your feet
04:22and therefore he can edit
04:26put the you know
04:27put the movie together within his head
04:29so you know
04:30we can you know
04:31we can move quickly
04:32if you give me
04:33some more fight
04:38before
04:38the final moment of threat
04:41maybe I can use it
04:43some moment
04:53I was really I suppose just inspired by
04:57Gonzalo's kind of vision for it
04:58and the things he was describing to me
05:01and so I would say
05:02I mean it's really just to you know
05:03the chance to work with him
05:04it was a really you know
05:05fun and sort of challenging process
05:14that was beautiful
05:15that was beautiful
05:17that was beautiful
05:23Grazie a tutti.
