01:03Tally ho!
01:07Tally ho!
01:07Sweet symbiosis!
01:15Hey, Hal, we need some more sand over here!
01:18I got you, baby!
01:22Thank you, Hal!
01:27I love the beach!
01:29The ocean air!
01:31The sand!
01:36But the water!
01:37Why does it always have to be water?!
01:40Come on, Nature Cat!
01:41We've gotta finish the sand seahorse before the waves wash it away!
01:50Oh, man!
01:51Nice!
01:54Quick!
01:55Let's take a picture!
01:57Cheese!
02:04And there she goes!
02:06Bye-bye, seahorse!
02:07We barely knew you, but we had some good times, man.
02:10Good times!
02:11Hey!
02:12Since the tide's coming in, let's check out the tide pool to see if any new visitors
02:16showed up!
02:16Hello!
02:17Yes!
02:17We love tide pools!
02:20Why?
02:20Oh, why is there always water?
02:24Yuck!
02:25Stick with me, Nature Cat!
02:26We'll walk on the rocks in dry patches so you won't get wet!
02:33Whoa!
02:34Gotcha!
02:35Aw, thanks, Daisy!
02:36You're welcome, Nature Cat!
02:38Now come on!
02:44Look at the shell!
02:45I love shells!
02:47Look at the mussel!
02:48I love mussels!
02:49Look at the sea star!
02:51I love sea stars!
02:52Tide pool!
02:53Ooh!
02:54Look at these hermit crabs!
02:56Hi, hermit crabs!
02:58It's me, Hal!
02:58I'd shake your hand, but...
03:00I love hermit crabs!
03:02Man, oh, man!
03:03Look at their shells!
03:05Very unusual!
03:06How festive!
03:08It looks like the shell has streamers!
03:11Huh?
03:14Oh, no!
03:15Oh, dear!
03:16This isn't happening!
03:18You okay, Nature Cat?
03:20If being soaked and miserable is okay, then yes, I'm okay.
03:29Well, hello there, little hermit crab!
03:32I'm Nature Cat!
03:34What's your name?
03:36I'm, um, uh, Bridget.
03:38Aw!
03:39What are you doing over here by yourself, Bridget?
03:41Yeah, why aren't you wandering around like those little crabbies over there?
03:46Well...
03:47Come on, Bridget!
03:48You can tell us!
03:50Okay.
03:54I ended up in this tide pool earlier today, and things were going great!
03:58I love this little spot, you know?
03:59There's plenty of food here.
04:02But then, an octopus attacked me!
04:06I barely got away from its long arms!
04:12Now I'm just waiting for the tide to start to go out again.
04:15The octopus may leave then.
04:17It's pretty shallow around here at low tide.
04:19Is the octopus still here?
04:21Ah!
04:22There it is!
04:24Ah!
04:25Don't let her see me!
04:27Those other hermit crabs are walking around, but the octopus isn't attacking them.
04:31What gives?
04:32Nope.
04:33It only comes after me.
04:37Huh!
04:38Why does that octopus just have it in for you, Bridget?
04:41I don't know!
04:42Well, you can't live like this!
04:45Afraid to wander around just to look for food?
04:49No, you can't!
04:50So, we have a plan, right, Hal?
04:53Yeah, a plan!
04:55A plan it is!
04:56And I always love how a plan comes together!
04:58And I have one tiny question about this amazing plan!
05:02What was the plan again?
05:03The plan is...
05:05We protect Bridget by taking her to a place where the octopus can get her!
05:10Wonderful dry land!
05:13But...
05:14But...
05:14Tally-ho!
05:19Ah!
05:21Isn't this better?
05:22Out of that wet water and here on the nice not-wet sand!
05:28No!
05:29I'm a marine, Herbert Crab!
05:31I need to be in the water!
05:33Bridget!
05:34Bubbler!
05:35Why didn't you say so even?
05:37Well, I tried...
05:39Hmm...
05:40We need another plan!
05:43I got you, Bridget!
05:44We're going back to that tide pool!
05:51No one messes with Bridget unless they want to mess with me!
05:55Hey!
05:55Hi-yah!
05:59Don't worry, I got you, Bridget!
06:03Uh-oh!
06:04Hi-yah!
06:05Whoa!
06:07Oh, why'd you take me out?
06:09I almost had her!
06:10Although she did look a lot bigger when I was underwater.
06:14But...
06:14Still, I almost had her!
06:16We have to think of a way to get that octopus to stop trying to eat Bridget!
06:21Oh...
06:21Well, thanks for trying, everyone.
06:23I guess...
06:24I'll just have to hide...
06:26Forever...
06:27Hmm...
06:28I wonder why that octopus only chases Bridget and not the other hermit crabs!
06:32I know!
06:33So hurtful!
06:34So insulting!
06:36Hmm...
06:42Oh, hey!
06:43The only difference between those hermit crabs and Bridget is that their shells are much more fancy!
06:49Whoa!
06:50Check it out!
06:51Those shells have moving parts!
06:53Whaaaaa!
06:54What?
06:55What?
06:55Can your shell do that too?
06:57Wait, Hal?
06:58Those aren't just shells.
06:59Those are sea anemones!
07:01Ooh!
07:02So-na-na-na-na-na-ma-na-na-ma-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
07:05-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na...'s..
07:06No,
07:07Hal! It's
07:07sea-ba-ba-ma-ni! Oh,
07:09Squeaks! I believe
07:10it's pronounced sea-ba-ba-ma-ma-mas! It's
07:13sea-a-na-m-ma-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.
07:21Hmm, it looks like a plant!
07:24Oh, they look like little squishers.
07:26Oh, wait! Don't touch them!
07:28Sea anemones aren't plants, they're animals,
07:31and they can give a painful sting with their tentacles.
07:34Say what?
07:36That's how they hunt for food and protect themselves.
07:39But the sea anemone couldn't hurt you
07:41if it were on your shell, right?
07:43Nope. It's hard for a sea anemone to hurt me
07:45because my shell and exoskeleton protect me.
07:48Hey, maybe that's why the octopus
07:50doesn't attack those other hermit crabs.
07:56It doesn't want to get stung by the sea anemones
07:59that are stuck on the crab's shell.
08:02Hey, I think you're right.
08:04We gotta get you some of those sea anem...
08:07anem... man... man... man...
08:09Oh, you know what I'm talking about!
08:11Well, why would the sea anemones want to hang on Bridget's shell?
08:14What's in it for them?
08:15Hmm, Squeaks does have a point.
08:17Hmm, these sea anemones are just sitting on that rock.
08:22But those sea anemones are getting a sweet ride around the tide pool!
08:28Yikes! That hermit crab is a really messy eater!
08:32No offense, Bridget.
08:33Hey, none taken.
08:35Look! That sea-ma-na-ma-na-ma is catching some of that extra food!
08:39That must be what the sea anemone gets!
08:42A free ride so it can hunt for food wherever the hermit crab goes!
08:46Plus some extra scraps from the hermit crab's meal!
08:49How cool is that?
08:50I think I remember Cranny Bunny telling me about this!
08:54There! It's called symbiosis!
08:59Symbiosis-es-es-es!
09:01So many fun words in this episode!
09:03Gosh, kids learn so much! We should get an Emmy for this!
09:06So you're curious about symbiosis, huh?
09:09Sometimes two living things have a relationship where one or both of them benefits.
09:14That's called symbiosis!
09:16For instance, when this cow moves around, it turns up dirt and some very tasty insects.
09:22By staying close to the cow, the cattle egret doesn't have to work very hard to find a meal.
09:29Sweet!
09:31Tiddy!
09:32Hey, that's me!
09:33Hi, Hal! It's me, Hal!
09:35Oh, hi, Hal! It's me, Tutu, also!
09:37How come your voice sounds different from mine?
09:39I don't know.
09:40Think about a dog that has fleas.
09:42That's another kind of symbiotic relationship.
09:45Well, I sure don't like that relationship.
09:48Right, but fleas get a lot from living on a dog.
09:51They get food and can lay their eggs in the dog's fur.
09:55And all I get is itches.
09:57No thank you, fleas.
09:58But it's still symbiosis.
10:01Two different kinds of animals living together for the benefit of at least one of them.
10:06So, the hermit crab and the sea anemone are in a relationship that helps them both survive.
10:12So, if I get a sea anemone to stick to my shell, you think the octopus will leave me alone?
10:18That's worth a shot!
10:19Why don't you try that?
10:22Excuse me. Hi, sea anemoneese. I'm Hal.
10:26Would you please hang out on my friend, Bridget?
10:31Well, that did not work.
10:33Hey, Hal. Maybe we should let Bridget handle this.
10:37If you say so. And you did.
10:44Excuse me. Hi, I'm Bridget.
10:47Wanna hang out on my back.
10:48I'll give you a ride on the ocean floor. You can have all of my leftovers.
10:53Okay, so, take that as a yes.
11:04Oh no, here comes the octopus.
11:08Oh, I'm so Minerva-nervous-ness.
11:11Oh, Bridget.
11:13Beep, breathe.
11:18Did you see that? The octopus swam right past her.
11:21Toodaloo, octopus. You'll have to find her dinner somewhere else tonight.
11:27It worked. Thanks for your help, everyone.
11:30Don't thank us. Thanks, sweet symbiosis.
11:33Bye, everybody.
11:35Bye, Bridget.
11:36Bye, sea anemoneese.
11:38Never gonna get that right. Miss you already.
11:41Okay, keep in touch.
11:43Send a postcard, okay?
11:49Uh, can we go back to sand sculptures now?
11:53Let's make a sand hermit crab.
11:55With a sea anemone on its shell.
11:58How about that for taking this episode full circle?
12:01Onward and...
12:02Whoa!
12:03Thank you, Daisy.
12:05Onward and yawnward!
12:07Woo-hoo!
12:10Woo-hoo!
12:11Woo-hoo!
12:12Strawberry fields forever.
12:17Strawberries! Woo-hoo!
12:19Yeah!
12:20Ah, there's no place like the strawberry farm in summer.
12:24Eh, what?
12:25Mm-hmm!
12:26Man, oh, man!
12:28You got that right, Nature Cat.
12:30These strawberries are super sweet and so ripe!
12:33Strawberry fields forever, baby.
12:37A gorgeous plate of strawberry and cheeses.
12:40I could weep!
12:43Sadie!
12:44Hi, you guys.
12:45I miss you all so much.
12:47I thought I'd say hello.
12:48Oh, we miss you too, too.
12:50Also, also, also, Sadie.
12:52A third also!
12:53To show you how much we miss you!
12:55Wow!
12:55Where are you guys?
12:56It looks so beautiful there.
12:59We're at the strawberry farm.
13:01Yes, yes.
13:01Just look at how many beautiful,
13:03fresh and tasty strawberries there are.
13:09I wish I was with you guys at the strawberry farm.
13:13Strawberries are my favorite fruit, you know.
13:15Wait, aren't there some in the city, Sadie?
13:17Eh, it's a sore subject, actually.
13:20There is a farmer's market near my apartment
13:23that sells really delicious strawberries.
13:28But yesterday, I woke up late,
13:30and by the time I got there,
13:32no more strawberries.
13:34Crazy, right?
13:37Do not sweat it, Sadie,
13:39for your strawberry trouble shall be no more!
13:42Really?
13:43How?
13:43For I, Nature Cat,
13:45with the help of my furry fruit-finding team,
13:48we'll bring fresh strawberries
13:50back to you in the city!
13:52You'd do that for me?
13:54Of course, Sadie.
13:55We'd love to.
13:56We'll pack a box
13:57and bring them over first thing in the morning.
13:59Aw, you guys are the greatest.
14:01I can't wait to taste the strawberries.
14:03I'll see you tomorrow morning.
14:06Okay, let the collecting continue!
14:16Interesting.
14:17There are some soft strawberries in here
14:19with the firm ones.
14:20They still taste good,
14:22but they're like mushy.
14:23I noticed the same thing.
14:24I wonder why some have become so mushy.
14:28Beats me.
14:29Mushy.
14:30That's a funny word.
14:32Mushy.
14:33Is that even a word?
14:36Mushy.
14:38Man, oh, man.
14:39There are so many strawberries left to pick
14:41before they go bad.
14:43No, I wonder what will happen
14:44to all the berries that don't get picked.
14:46Poor berries.
14:47I don't know how there's so many of them.
14:49Maybe they're just left to rot in the field.
14:51Well, no matter.
14:53Let us box some up
14:54and bring them to Sadie in the morning.
14:56Tally-ho!
15:00Sadie!
15:01No way!
15:02It's you guys!
15:04Here we are, Sadie.
15:06Strawberries at your service.
15:07Tally!
15:10What is that?
15:12Ew!
15:13What happened to all the strawberries?
15:15Man, oh, man.
15:16It looks like they got moldy.
15:18I guess that's what happens when fruit gets too ripe.
15:21Oh, yeah, like once I left a peach out to ripen,
15:23only ripened too fast and got this green fuzzy stuff all over it
15:26and smelled really bad, but I ate it anyway,
15:27and then I felt sick.
15:29Ew.
15:29Yep.
15:30That was mold, Squeaks.
15:31Mold?
15:32I knew it.
15:33I always do not like mold.
15:36Ew.
15:36Mold.
15:37Mold.
15:37Mold.
15:37Ew.
15:38But one teeny tiny question about this mold that I do not like.
15:41What is mold?
15:43Mold is what happens when food sits for too long.
15:47It says here that mold is a type of fungus, like mushrooms.
15:50The fungi are too small to see.
15:53But when there's enough of them, we see mold.
15:56And mold likes fruit.
15:58The fruit has what mold needs.
16:00Water and food.
16:01Mold can look fuzzy or green or white or yellow or brown.
16:06Oh, gross.
16:08I feel horrible, Sadie.
16:10I'm so sorry.
16:11We didn't mean to get your hopes up only to bring you moldy strawberries, Sadie.
16:15It's cruel.
16:16It's okay, guys.
16:18I mean, what can you do, huh?
16:19Would have been nice to taste fresh strawberries, but mold is mold.
16:25Oh, hey.
16:26I gotta go in now for my afternoon nap.
16:28Hey, thanks for trying, guys.
16:30I cannot take seeing Sadie so sad.
16:32This is not over.
16:33We will not give up.
16:34We will march straight back to the strawberry fields
16:36and bring them right back to her first thing in the morning.
16:39Neither mold nor mush shall defeat us.
16:42Tally-ho!
16:45We don't get these strawberries to Sadie fast.
16:48They'll be overripe and extra moldy.
16:50Yuck.
16:50I know.
16:51We can't wait until tomorrow morning.
16:53Well, what's the fastest way we can get the strawberries to Sadie now?
16:57Hmm.
16:57I think I have an idea.
17:00I give you the strawberry slingshot.
17:04The strawberry slingshot?
17:06Precisely.
17:07It's simple.
17:07We'll put a box of strawberries on top like so, then pull this part back like so, and let
17:13her fly like so.
17:14Three, two, one!
17:20Okay, now what?
17:21I think this calls for some magic.
17:24Magic.
17:25Magic.
17:26Step right up.
17:28And what is your name, little fancy cat?
17:31You know my name.
17:32I'm your best friend, nature cat.
17:34What is your request?
17:36You know my request.
17:37Play along, man.
17:38Just make him happy.
17:39Come on.
17:40Okay, very well.
17:41We'd like to send strawberries to our friend Sadie in the city.
17:45This is your lucky day.
17:46Because the great Haldini can make anything vanish and then reappear wherever he wants.
17:51At any place of his choosing.
17:53And all by using his mind.
17:56But how?
17:58Shish!
17:59The great Haldini is focusing now.
18:01Oh, sorry.
18:01Focus away, Haldini.
18:04All the great Haldini must do now is say the magic words.
18:09Abradal.
18:10Do a little bit of this with the pop.
18:15And voila!
18:16It's amazing!
18:18Say what?
18:23Nothing like some fresh strawberries in the summertime.
18:27Steve-O, hit the jackpot, baby.
18:29Woo-hoo!
18:31Ta-dee!
18:32Well, we obviously can't do this ourselves, you guys.
18:34We're gonna need some help.
18:35I know just the pigeons for the job.
18:37Did you say pigeon?
18:39Yeah!
18:40I got some pigeon pals who could make an express delivery for us.
18:45Hi, guys.
18:46Would you mind delivering this to Sadie in the city?
18:49No signature required.
18:51Hey, no problem.
18:53You can trust us.
18:57Get back here, you strawberry scoundrels!
19:00You berry bandits!
19:02Man, oh, man.
19:04Sadie's never gonna taste these strawberries.
19:06There just doesn't seem to be any way to get Sadie those strawberries fast enough so they don't go bad
19:11again.
19:12Ha!
19:13There is a way.
19:14Huh?
19:15Howdy.
19:16And there is a way to keep these here strawberries as tasty as they are now.
19:21What do you think I do with all those?
19:23Just let them go bad on the plants?
19:25Ha-ha-ha!
19:26No way!
19:27Are you sure?
19:28What about the mold?
19:30Let me get this straight.
19:31Are you saying you know how to keep mold from growing?
19:34Ho-ho-ho!
19:35I sure do!
19:36Come on, follow me!
19:39The best way to keep mold from growing is to take away the water from these here strawberries.
19:43Water?
19:44Why does it have to be water?
19:45So when you take away the water from food, you know, dry it, that makes it less likely that mold
19:50will grow?
19:51Yep.
19:52Drying food is one way to preserve it and that happens to work great for strawberries.
19:57But how do you dry out the strawberries?
19:59Yeah, do you like to throw strawberries in the dryer or like hang them on a line like you do
20:04clothes?
20:04I mean, that would be weird.
20:06Nope.
20:06I'll show you how, though, by making strawberry fruit roll-ups.
20:10I'm sorry.
20:11Are you saying you can make your own fruit roll-ups?
20:14I'll believe it when I see it, pal.
20:16Oh, yeah!
20:17You just need a baking sheet, one quart of fresh strawberries, washed and steamed.
20:21No problem there, Farmer Mousey.
20:24One tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and a cutting utensil.
20:28Y'all ready?
20:28But of course, Farmer Mouse!
20:30Onward and dryward!
20:33So first, line the baking sheet with paper.
20:36Put the fresh strawberries in a blender.
20:38Add lemon juice and blend it until you've made a smooth puree.
20:43It should be liquid enough to pour, but also thick enough to spread with a spoon.
20:48And if it looks too watery, well, you just add more fruit.
20:51No problem there, either.
20:56And when it looks just right, spread the mixture onto a baking sheet.
21:01Thank you so much, Farmer Mouse.
21:04We're hoping to get Sadie her strawberry treat real soon.
21:07Yeah, she was so disappointed this morning, it was sad.
21:10How soon will they be dried and ready?
21:12Well, usually I dry them on my kitchen shelves, which takes a few days.
21:16But we can use my oven at a very low temperature to dry them today to speed it up.
21:21A brilliant idea!
21:23To the Farmer Mouse's house!
21:25Alley-ho!
21:34Once the strawberry's cool, test them for dryness by peeling back an edge of the fruit spread.
21:40If the edge lifts cleanly, well, it's dry enough for slicing and rolling.
21:43Oh yeah, baby!
21:49Now roll each strip and store in a clean, dry, air-tight container.
21:54Okay, all done!
21:55Now what?
21:56Well, now we taste!
22:00Amazing!
22:02Yummy!
22:03Come on, you guys, time to bring these over to Sadie!
22:05Thank you so much, Farmer Mouse, for showing us all about dried fruits!
22:10Well, no problem!
22:11Bye-bye, y'all!
22:12Onward and strawberry fruit roll-ups to Sadie word!
22:17Sadie!
22:19Hey!

22:20You guys are back!
22:21You betcha too, Sadie!
22:24Did you bring fresh strawberries for me this time?
22:28Eh?
22:28We're sorry, Sadie.
22:29We weren't able to bring you fresh strawberries.
22:32But we brought you something just as special and just as delicious!
22:37Sadie!
