00:00While in 1990, one-third of Europe's electricity came from nuclear,
00:06today it's only close to 15%.
00:11This reduction in the share of nuclear was a choice.
00:17And in hindsight, it was a strategic mistake for Europe
00:21to turn its back on a reliable, affordable source of low-emission power.
00:28However, this should change, for two good reasons.
00:35First, because nuclear and renewables have a key role to play,
00:41this is not an either-or.
00:44It is in combination that they are most powerful.
00:50Because what we need is the best overall energy mix,
00:54clean, affordable, resilient, European.
01:00We need to mobilize investment.
01:04And today I can announce that we will create a 200-million-euro guarantee
01:09to support investment in innovative nuclear technologies.
01:16And the resources will come from our emission trading system.
01:21Not only will we de-risk investments in these low-carbon technologies,
01:27we also want to give a clear signal for other investors to join.
01:32We'll see you in the next few minutes.
01:32We'll see you in the next few minutes.
01:33We'll see you in the next few minutes.
01:33Vielen Dank.
