Una divertente featurette del film Isle of Dogs.
Trascrizione
00:07Cheef è un uomo strumento che è rounded up with all the dogs in
00:14the city of Megasaki, and he's been exiled on this island to live out his
00:21days in discomfort, because there's a fear of dog flu, it's not real, but
00:29the rhetoric and the propaganda against dogs is believed, so every dog from the
00:36city is put on this island called Trash Island. It's the island where they dump
00:42all the trash, and symbolic of that is that the dogs are treated like garbage.
00:51Well, a mascot is someone that gets taken along for the ride, where there's
00:56going to be a great success, the chance of a great success, when there's the
01:00chance of a great success, you need a mascot, someone that's going to be with
01:05you when things get tough, but someone that you're really going to want to be
01:10there when things go well.
01:15Rex describes himself as sleeping on a lambswool beanbag next to an electric space heater.
01:21He's probably comfortably middle class, maybe upper-middle class, but he has a
01:25work ethic. He's scrappy. At the same time, psychologically, Trash Island, it's difficult for him.
01:38I admired Spots. I thought Spots was a very nice dog. I would love to have a dog like Spots,
01:49and it was very strange to think about how to play him.
01:52I just, um, I just felt like he had a real sense of duty, and a real sense of honor,
01:58and, um, really cared about people.
02:02Um, because I, you know, I don't normally get to play those kinds of characters.
02:07I was stroking this, uh, Scotch terrier, and he bit my thumb, and I started to pull it away, and
02:14I couldn't, he wouldn't release.
02:16He didn't growl, he just simply bit it and held it, and I almost fainted.
02:21But, uh, it didn't instill in me a terror of dogs, but I understood from that experience how it could.
02:31And I love his name, Duke. It reminds me of, uh, would you know who I'm talking about if I
02:38said...
02:45Would you know who I was talking about? Of course, Duke Ellington.
02:52That's right, Duke Ellington.
02:54What does nutmeg see in chief? Sort of a survivor. Um, she knows what it's like to lose something and
03:03come back stronger and not be afraid of what lies ahead.
03:07You know, she, she knows what it's like to be that, that kind of dog. Um, and plus he, you
03:14know, he's just the right amount of bite.
03:18When I was little, my, my, uh, grandfather and my uncle each owned a kind of a movie studio.
03:24Uh, at one point, when I was about 10, I broke my arm and nobody knew what to do with
03:29me.
03:30So we took a train to Los Angeles.
03:33And the day after I got there, they put me in my nicest outfit.
03:37You know, I looked like little Lord Fauntleroy or some, or a Jewish little Lord Fauntleroy.
03:42And I showed up at MGM to watch the filming of a movie called meet me in Las Vegas.
03:48And I got to sit in a special chair with my name on it.
03:50And I think probably after that, you might as well have exposed me to some crystal meth or something at
03:58the age of 10,
03:59because I craved it ever since that day.
04:04And dogs are, they're given by God in a way.
04:08And they're, uh, they're a responsibility to, to use, not as a servant, but as, uh, as a, as a
04:16sounding board,
04:17as a, uh, demonstration of what your obligation is to life that you must serve.
04:23You know, when you wake up in the morning, you know, the ranchers say,
04:26you got to take care of your cattle before you feed yourself.
04:30Oracle is a pug, specifically a companion breed pug.
04:35Uh, this breed is often described by the Latin phrase, multum in parvo,
04:42or much in little, or a lot of dog in a small space.
04:49The heart of a dog is a bottomless thing.
04:52Oh, yeah, well done.
04:52Yeah.
05:07Very big.
05:08You're excellent.
05:13Okay.
05:13Grazie a tutti
