00:00All right, Magic City. So I thought it was a brilliant promotion. Magic City is not just a gentleman's club
00:09in Atlanta. It's like a focal point. If you're traveling to Atlanta, people always say it. Now, of course, I
00:16go to the varsity, but, you know, I'm looking for a different type of grease.
00:20But you go to Atlanta, everybody knows Magic City. I really don't understand the outrage. It's solely because it was
00:29a promotion with a gentleman's club?
00:31Yeah, that was it. Because the day that it happened, we were ecstatic. We were like, I hadn't been to
00:36a Hawks game all year because, you know, most of the year they won a fun product to watch, even
00:41though they're playing good ball right now.
00:42As soon as that happened, our digital engineer or digital manager texts me and home team who does mornings with
00:49me and goes, and he's actually an African-American man.
00:52They just considered me like, you know, I'm invited to the picnic, as they like to say. So they text
00:59both of us, hey, we're going to Magic City night to cover this.
01:03Hell yeah, man, I'm going to be there. Now I'm not going because there's no reason to.
01:07There was a lot of outrage and you know how it is. Social media, people start to run. Well, what
01:12if my kids are gone?
01:13Well, let me tell you, Diamond and Sapphire weren't performing at halftime.
01:17They didn't have Porsche walking up and down the aisle in a thong, handing out free passes to Magic City.
01:24They were selling the lemon pepper wings, which are world famous.
01:27They were selling a hoodie for $125 and T.I. was performing.
01:32We saw guys like Luke Cornett, Al Horford. They wanted to come out. This is an outrage.
01:36It's selective outrage because the NBA, we have enough people that are doing enough bad things to women and they're
01:43allowed back in the league, whether it's playing or coaching or whatever it may be.
01:47Yet suddenly, because a gentleman's club's name is on the marquee on a day that you're playing the Orlando Magic,
01:54folks are up in arms.
01:55It's ridiculous. I hate that it's going away.
01:57But such is today's day in the world. If one person gets upset, 7,000 people get upset.
02:04They want to write letters and texts and everything else.
02:06When I say I got called all kinds of names for supporting Magic City Night, it was ridiculous.
02:13And let's make it clear, John. Diamond and Porsche are in nursing school.
02:17So they're going to be taking care of you sooner or later. Let's just make it clear.
02:22We talked about it. It's a landmark.
02:25The landmarks of Atlanta were Piedmont Park, Stone Mountain. That's not in Atlanta.
02:30He brings up the varsity. Magic City is an Atlanta landmark.
02:34It 100% is.
02:36And if you go around the NBA and ask the guys that are actually playing almost to a man when
02:42they land here, they go to Magic City.
02:45We used to always joke, and Buckhead isn't Buckhead anymore, but Crowder, you can understand, Buckhead used to be our
02:51party district.
02:52And when teams would come to Atlanta, we'd be like, they either have the Buckhead flu or the Magic City
02:57flu, meaning they were out till 6 o'clock in the morning.
03:00They're partying. Back when South Beach was a fun place to go to, people would come play the Heat, and
03:04they'd talk about the South Beach flu,
03:06where your superstar suddenly would come up with a back injury or a hamstring the next day.
03:11No, it was called a hangover, is what it was. And Magic City is still that spot.
03:15Now, I haven't been. I'm married 10 years. I probably haven't been in 15 years to Magic City.
03:19This just makes me want to go now. Now I want to do some show research and see if Diamond
03:24has got that nursing degree as of yet, or she needs a $50 or $100 bill.
03:28I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think it's so analogous to the Marlins doing Flanagan's Night every year,
03:35because Flanagan's is like this local sports bar. Again, it's a little bit different at Flanagan's than Magic City.
03:41But it's like this iconic brand in South Florida that we all love. And correct me if I'm wrong, Solana,
03:49the Flanagan's Night is one of the few nights at Marlin, at Lone Depot Park, that's slammed with people
03:56because they've got this little collab with Flanagan's. Of all the things for Adam Silver to take a stand on,
04:07while we're watching tonight, the Heat game with no Trey Young and no Kalil Ware and no Andrew Wiggins and
04:16no Norman Powell.
04:17And like, fix that, Silver. We're going to a basketball game to have a little fun. I mean, this isn't
04:25Sunday school.
04:26You know the ticket prices before the announcement of the Magic City game, you could have got in on the
04:31secondary market for like $10.
04:33Soon as that was announced, they went to like $150 for get-in price. I'm going to tell you,
04:39if I'm somebody that bought something on StubHub or SeatGeek, I want my damn money back now
04:43because the promotion I was going for is out the window. And I thought that was some dirty pool by
04:48the NBA.
04:49But again, selective outrage, they said they used stakeholders, executives, and players around the league.
04:56I only saw two players that were upset. There weren't no damn players around the league.
05:00I can promise you Paulo Banqueiro was going, oh, no, I'm not going to play because it's Magic City night.
05:06I'm protesting. What's our guy's name? Franz Wagner wasn't going to play.
05:10Hey, Franz Wagner would probably be like, hey, Paulo, let's get to Magic City.
05:16Hell with this game.
05:17Man, just outrageous. Outraged at this.
05:22I picked my battles. This is a battle I won't play.
05:27You guys are a show of moral standing. We've all known that.
05:30You know that Varsity is a mile away from Magic City.
05:34I know. I just get so full there. I can't even make it over.
05:38I'm just – I'm in a food coma.
05:40I was just saying, I could make such an off-color joke about –
05:49John Michaels from 680 The Fan in Atlanta, home of Tua Tonga-Vailoa.
05:55We'll see you, John.
05:56I'll see you, guys.
05:58Before you get in trouble, get out of here.
06:00Get him off the feed, would you?
06:02It is outrageous.
06:03It's so selective of all the things for the NBA to make a stand on.
06:08Hey, Terry Rozier, yeah, we'll give you a second-round pick.
06:13You're fine with that, even though they sold you damaged goods.
06:17But Magic City, I mean, we're talking about, I'm guessing,
06:22predominantly a male-dominated audience.
06:26And I don't know.
06:28I just – I'm having such a difficult time figuring out why on earth
06:33that would need to be canceled.
06:34Didn't some company break Bernie's nose?
06:37They had somebody punch him.
06:39Yeah, it was –
06:40And that guy was charged – allegedly committed rape.
06:44Conor McGregor.
06:45But it's not even that.
06:47Alcohol, advertisements, everywhere in the arena,
06:51they literally are in bed with gambling websites,
06:53pushing gambling on fans.
06:55And don't get me started on the music that's being played
06:58throughout NBA arenas while the game's going on from rappers.
07:03And by the way, I'm not complaining.
07:04I just think it's a crazy double standard.
07:06These rappers that literally incentivize mistreating and demeaning women.
07:11That's the music Adam Silver allows in his arena all the time
07:15with terrible word selection and rappers who are awful role models for kids.
07:21That's okay, but we draw the line at adult work.
07:25Like, no joke.
07:25I think it's a crazy double standard by the NBA.
07:28Magic City is a junior college of nursing school.
07:31That's all it is.
07:33They're great people.
07:35I used to get Playboy for the articles.
07:37Plenty of people go to Magic City for the food.
07:40They really do.
07:41They do.
07:43It's the same way with Tootsies.
07:44There are so many people that go to Tootsies to eat wings.
07:47Half the time, you don't even realize.
07:49Like, you're like three-quarters of the way through the meal,
07:52and you're like, oh, this is a gentleman's club.
07:54I didn't even notice.
07:55Oh, she's naked.
07:57Well, look at that.
08:02Will you look at that?
08:05When did that happen?
08:09Garcon.
08:12All right.
08:13We got to make a break.
