00:03The NBA season is officially here as the Dallas Mavericks took on the New Orleans Pelicans for
00:08their first at-home preseason opener, but unfortunately finishing with a loss with
00:12a final score of 101-97. In terms of this matchup, Dallas trailed for majority of the game as New
00:18Orleans got out with a quick momentum with Jeremiah Fierce, who was able to gain and
00:23maintain the Pelicans lead. On the Mavs side of the ball, the three-pointer was not on their side,
00:28other than John Pulikidis, who capitalized almost every time his teammates found him at the three
00:33and finished four from eight from beyond the arc, with a collective percentage of 20% for the Mavericks.
00:39Dallas dominated the rebounds, accumulating 63 to the latter 52 from New Orleans, but it's still
00:45very early to tell how the Mavs are getting into rhythm, considering that there is a new head
00:50coach and also a new group of guys. We got a chance to speak with head coach Dusty May, and
00:55he said
00:55to not shoot the ball well and to turn it over and still have a shot at taking this game
01:00over,
01:00that is a testament to finding new ways to compete. All of our success depends on each other,
01:06each other, and so these guys are getting some extremely valuable reps, especially as you get
01:13into late NBA seasons, and it seems like lineups change every night, and so it gives us a snapshot
01:18of where these guys are now, but also where they need to be. The Dallas Mavericks will return to
01:23American Airlines Center on Friday for their next preseason game to take on the Atlanta Hawks.
