01:15especially as these tyres seem to be going off quite quickly. Vettel's stop was a planned stop,
01:19so his tyres were going off. Obviously the top cars there, Lewis Hamilton as well, he's also in,
01:26but nothing from George Russell, nothing from the other cars as well. We've got some other people.
01:31It's a bit too early for some people, Crofty, but if you're in trouble with your tyres,
01:35it's worth coming in now.
01:36What about Lewis Hamilton's base? Hamilton behind Esteban Ocon, the Alpinas look racy,
01:41but I tell you what, that Mercedes skipping over the bumps and the bouncing a little bit,
01:45almost on a par with Ocon going into that corner. Hamilton will get a decent exit and has got a
01:51decent exit on the fresher tyres and is racing Ocon now down towards turn one. These two have collided
01:57and tangled together in 2022, but not on this occasion. Lewis Hamilton gets himself past Esteban,
02:03Ocon takes the applause of the crowd and is up into fifth place. And now going through the gears,
02:08with DRS active up to 200 miles an hour, Fernando Alonso is waved goodbye by Max Verstappen.
02:16And this is Mick Schumacher. Mechanical problems affecting the Haas.

02:29As Carlos Sainz makes his pit stop and will come out behind Alonso and almost behind Lewis Hamilton.
02:36Well done to the Ferrari crew. That was good work from them.
02:41Fernando Alonso hasn't been into the pits yet. These tyres are a lot older than Hamilton's.
02:46Hamilton moves out from behind the rear wing of the Alpine and then moves past the Alpine by the
02:51time they put the brakes on. It's a nice straight forward pit stop and the hard tyres are on for
02:57Max Verstappen.
02:58Two and a half seconds as he comes out into the first corner. Lewis Hamilton's taking the long
03:04way round there. This is going to be pretty tight. Verstappen has the outside line though. Hamilton on
03:09the inside. Lewis Hamilton ahead of Max Verstappen. And despite a speedy, rapid pit stop from Red Bull,
03:18Hamilton there. Wow. Half a foot, Martin. Clear of Max Verstappen. That could be crucial.
03:23You have to assume that Red Bull thought they could clear Hamilton there. So that'll put a smile
03:29on the Ferrari pit wall. Of course, Sainz, his tyres I mentioned earlier on were 12 laps younger,
03:35but you'd have to think he might still have to stop again. But how much time is Verstappen going to
03:41lose now? Might be the best thing or the first thing to make the Ferrari pit wall smile this
03:46afternoon. Didn't have the pace. That did not put a smile on Max Verstappen's face whatsoever, but an
03:57overtake on Lewis Hamilton here would certainly help him as he makes his way down the main straight.
04:03Hamilton's not fighting this one. He's not defending it. He knows the Red Bull has got a faster pace.
04:07And for the moment, Hamilton can come into the pits as well. As Charles Leclerc has Daniel Ricciardo as
04:15the next car he wants to try and overtake. And he's going to try and find somewhere a little more
04:18unusual to make that move stick. And he does make that move stick into turn eight. This was the move
04:25on Yuki Tsunoda. Down towards the first corner, Joe Granue is passed by Charles Leclerc on the medium
04:35tyre now. And that's why we've got yellow flags. And it is Yuki Tsunoda in the Alfa Tauri.
04:41Sorry, I'm out. Now that's surely going to be a virtual safety car or a safety car. Safety car,
04:50safety car. This has absolutely worked in Carlos Sainz's favour because I think he's coming into
04:56the pits. He is coming into the pits. While we see the replay, Tsunoda came into the pits, went straight
05:00on as he came out on cold tyres. But Carlos Sainz, who was told his safety car window is opening,
05:06has now got to the pit stop at exactly the right time for him, losing less time by making his
05:13second
05:13pit stop than Max Verstappen did and having fresher tyres than Verstappen to run to the end of the race.
05:19Verstappen might have just taken the lead here, but Sainz should have less of a gap between himself
05:25and the Red Bull driver when we go racing once again. And we are now going green. When does
05:31Verstappen want to release the rest of the pack? Right out of the final chicane. And Carlos Sainz has
05:36gone right with him as well. Verstappen leads him then down towards the first turn. Fernando Alonso
05:42right on the heels of his teammate Esteban Ocon as Verstappen leads Sainz, leads Hamilton, then leads
05:48Russell, Ocon and Alonso through those first couple of corners. Charles Leclerc right behind
05:53Fernando Alonso, then comes Bottas, Vettel and Joe Guanyu. That's the top ten.
05:59That is Fernando Alonso getting passed by Charles Leclerc and that's gone down very well
06:04for those that bought a red t-shirt this weekend. This is Esteban Ocon and Charles Leclerc into the
06:11hairpin. Neat little move there by Leclerc who's having a much better end to this race and he's
06:16now up into fifth place. Max Verstappen can just start to relax and to rest a little bit as for
06:23the
06:24first time he starts a race in Montreal on pole and for the first time he sees the chequered flag
06:29and will know what it's like to win the Canadian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen comes home in first place,
06:36Carlos Sainz pushed him all the way and takes the fifth second place in his career and it's Lewis
06:41Hamilton back on the podium once more for Mercedes in third. Max Verstappen back on top of the podium
06:48for the first time here and not for the first time this season. He extends his championship lead.
06:54It was another thrilling Canadian Grand Prix and another fine performance and a win for the champion,
07:01defending champion Max Verstappen.
