There is “enormous” damage following the fire at a building next to Glasgow Central station and disruption will be significant, John Swinney has said.Scotland’s First Minister also said the Scottish Government was willing to help the city council with the 'immediate, significant and unexpected' financial consequences of the blaze.

00:00This has been a very, very serious fire in the proximity of Central Station in Glasgow
00:06and I want to express my warmest thanks to the emergency services for dealing with a truly horrific incident,
00:13a very severe incident, and doing it with such pace and such effectiveness.
00:19The fact that there are no serious injuries reported is a huge relief,
00:23but the damage is enormous and the disruption will be significant to the travelling public
00:28and around the city centre.
00:30So I'm going to travel to the site just shortly, I want to see it for myself
00:35and I make clear the government's willingness to work with Glasgow City Council
00:39and to support Glasgow City Council in the recovery that's going to have to be taken forward
00:44as a consequence of this incident.
