00:00:01How would you explain the seemingly unexplainable?
00:00:05It's even hard to make yourself believe it.
00:00:07What if it was a story so far-fetched nobody would believe you?
00:00:12Lo and behold, here this thing is again.
00:00:14Would you keep it a secret?
00:00:16I don't know what it was.
00:00:18Or would you share your experience with the world?
00:00:21When you talk about it, it makes it more real.
00:00:24It was kind of like a humming noise, just one of them made it.
00:00:30And what if that experience was with the extraterrestrial?
00:00:34I'm going to describe some of the creatures that was aboard the craft.
00:00:42This is the curious story of Charles Hickson and Kelvin Parker,
00:00:46whose tale of alien abduction in 1973 gripped the nation.
00:00:52Everybody's mouth fell open, it was like...
00:00:54And when more eyewitnesses surfaced over the years...
00:00:58Suddenly there's an insurgent of a whole lot of reports.
00:01:01There was just a huge number of UFO sightings, everybody was singing.
00:01:05It begged the question, are we really alone in the universe?
00:01:11And are we even ready for the truth?
00:01:15I think we maybe all seem to have the same kind of feeling of validation,
00:01:18that we didn't make this up.
00:01:20How could that many people imagine the exact same thing at the same time?
00:01:43Welcome to Pascagoula.
00:01:46Nestled along Mississippi's Gulf Coast, this unassuming city harbors a mystery
00:01:52that has endured for decades.
00:01:55Beneath its quiet streets and scenic charm lies a story that shook the world.
00:02:01A tale of unexplainable encounter that forever altered the lives of two men
00:02:07and those who bore witness to it.
00:02:09These three figures was coming toward us and there wasn't nowhere to run.
00:02:20When Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker decided to go fishing after work,
00:02:25nobody could have predicted what would happen next.
00:02:28We was fishing right where the power poles are.
00:02:31There's a little pier.
00:02:33But the fishing spot they chose was on private property.
00:02:37I said, Charlie, we gonna go to jail for trespassing down here.
00:02:40He said, no, I fish here all the time.
00:02:43I was fishing and I noticed a reflection off the water, some hazy blue lights.
00:02:49And that is the color of the lights that the law has around here.
00:02:54And of course, there's no trespassing signs up.
00:02:58And I figured me and Charlie was going to jail.
00:03:01In hindsight, going to jail probably would have been the better option for the pair,
00:03:07as what they went on to experience altered their lives forever.
00:03:12You know, my skin was kind of standing up.
00:03:16So I don't know if I was afraid of going to jail or afraid something else was gonna happen.
00:03:23This case primarily features two very ordinary men.
00:03:29But on the night of October the 11th, 1973, on the Pascagoula River in Mississippi,
00:03:39these two ordinary men encountered the extraordinary.
00:03:46And I come here and I think about Charlie and his bad thoughts
00:03:50because I don't like to think about what happened to us or him breaking the story.
00:03:58I feel betrayed by him because we agreed we was gonna keep this quiet and we didn't.
00:04:12I never spoke to my dad about it until I got home from the Marine Corps.
00:04:17And the night we sat down and talked about it, he was telling me what happened
00:04:22and all of a sudden he had tears and it was just flowing down his face.
00:04:30And I asked him, I said, what's wrong?
00:04:32He said, son, I spent 20 months and 16 days in combat in Korea.
00:04:38I was scared.
00:04:40He said, I've never had anything to scare me like these things did.
00:04:44It scared the hell out of me because I just knew I was going to jail
00:04:47and it's gonna cost money to get out for trespassing.
00:04:51It got our attention, let me put it like that.
00:04:53I now firmly believe that this case, when it comes to close encounter cases,
00:04:58is probably the best documented case on the record.
00:05:05I have no doubt about that whatsoever.
00:05:08But just what did these two men see?
00:05:11What had they experienced on this fateful night in 1973?
00:05:18The craft came out of the west and landed just about where that big pilot is out there,
00:05:24which was laying.
00:05:26It kind of shocked their eyes there for a little while.
00:05:31You could tell that it was oval shaped.
00:05:33It had two portholes on top and you could see lights coming out of that.
00:05:41It has the ability to change colors.
00:05:44This started out in a hazy blue.
00:05:47Then it kind of a bluish green.
00:05:50And then I seen some red somewhere and I'm not for sure that the red come from the craft
00:05:57because there was a car parked over there and it might have been the brake lights off the car or
00:06:03something.
00:06:03But it was a little bit of red.
00:06:05But then the door opened and the lights got bright because the lights was coming from the inside.
00:06:13They was blinding.
00:06:15The lights were so it kind of shocked their eyes there for a little while.
00:06:22But the door just slid open and the lights was from the inside.
00:06:26And almost immediately they seemed like the end of the craft opened up some way.
00:06:33And three things came out of it.
00:06:36These three figures was coming toward us.
00:06:39You could tell they was bulky looking creatures like football players or something.
00:06:43And they was gliding across the swamp grass.
00:06:48And there wasn't nowhere to run.
00:06:50There was debris on the left, debris on the right, water on the front.
00:06:54With nowhere to run, the men froze in fear as three figures from the aircraft floated towards them.
00:07:02Two of them got a hold of Charlie.
00:07:04One of them got a hold of myself.
00:07:06And they gave me a go to hell shot.
00:07:10I didn't care.
00:07:11I know they gave Charlie one too.
00:07:13He said they did.
00:07:15They gave us the shot in the left arm here.
00:07:20And that calmed us down.
00:07:25Just what were these beings that Calvin and Charles saw that night?
00:07:29Why were they here?
00:07:31And where did they come from?
00:07:39These three figures was coming toward us.
00:07:46You could tell they was bulky looking.
00:07:51They was gliding across the swamp grass.
00:07:58There wasn't no separation in the legs.
00:08:01And the feet looked like a pair of work boots.
00:08:05The only moving parts was their arms.
00:08:08And their hands was like crab claws or mittens.
00:08:13Couldn't really tell what it was.
00:08:16And believe me, I wasn't looking that hard.
00:08:18I was trying to think about getting out of there.
00:08:21He said I didn't know what they were, where they came from.
00:08:24And I was so afraid they were going to take me away.
00:08:28And nobody would ever know what happened to us.
00:08:31There'd be you, your mom, your brothers and sisters.
00:08:34And they would never find Calvin and I.
00:08:38And so I knew right then my father was telling the truth.
00:08:44Fact or fiction?
00:08:45The close encounter story of Calvin Parker and Charles Hickson
00:08:49is one of the most compelling in history.
00:08:52When it comes to cases like this, the argument goes three ways.
00:08:57Not sure what it is, you know, leave it open-ended.
00:09:00The argument that it's extraterrestrial.
00:09:04Or that there's some kind of psychological explanation for it.
00:09:09You know, take your pick.
00:09:10When it comes to the Pascagoula case specifically,
00:09:14it's even been claimed that it was some kind of military experiment
00:09:17that took place that night.
00:09:20But, you know, the list is endless, it really is.
00:09:23And if witnessing a UFO wasn't scary enough,
00:09:27what happened next would stay with the two men
00:09:30for the rest of their lives.
00:09:39And I seemed to just raise up to the level that they were,
00:09:45which they were about a foot or a foot and a half off of the ground.
00:09:49And they carried me inside of the spacecraft.
00:09:54Once aboard the craft, the two men were separated,
00:09:57with each taken to a different room by the beings.
00:10:00And what they had to experience next was more fitting for a sci-fi movie.
00:10:05I didn't see Charlie no more when I went aboard.
00:10:08They took a left turn, went about 10, 15 foot down the hallway,
00:10:13and then they turned right into what I call an examination room.
00:10:21And he said, they took us in that thing.
00:10:24He said, I'm assuming they took Calvin in.
00:10:27He said, they took me in first.
00:10:29And he said it was like being in an extremely bright light bulb.
00:10:36He said it was blinding.
00:10:39And he said, I remember seeing this thing.
00:10:42I guess it was a wall come out and to my face, went down my body.
00:10:51Because he said, I felt like I was suspended in air at a 45 degree angle.
00:10:56And went around my body twice and came back around and back to my face
00:11:02and just disappeared back into wherever it came from.
00:11:07Charles' experience brings up some questions.
00:11:10Why had he been chosen?
00:11:13What were they examining him for?
00:11:15And where was the information they were gathering going to go?
00:11:23And he told me they got a hold of him and took him back out.
00:11:29And he said Calvin was standing out there by the river with his arms outstretched facing the river.
00:11:41And he said that he was in a state of shock.
00:11:44When I seen him, he seemed to be going in shock.
00:11:47I've seen many men in shock.
00:11:49And he seemed to be going in shock.
00:11:55Just what had Calvin experienced that night that had left him in such a state?
00:12:00What did he see?
00:12:02What did he witness?
00:12:04And how did it affect him?
00:12:07He laid me on my back and I was facing this ceiling.
00:12:12When I was laying on the table, this big ugly thing that brought me in went to a corner and
00:12:17just shut down.
00:12:19And then there was something about the size of the neck of the car to come out of the ceilings.
00:12:24It come down within a foot and a half of my head.
00:12:27And it rotated around my head.
00:12:29But each time it would go around, you could hear it click, click, click.
00:12:35And what he experienced next stuck with Calvin for the rest of his life.
00:12:42I was laying on the table and that thing that clicked was running around my head.
00:12:47And that's when I noticed I heard a noise, which wasn't a loud noise, but I just felt a presence.
00:12:56And that's when she come out of another room and put her finger down my throat.
00:13:09I started bleeding and there was a lot of blood on me.
00:13:14She kind of, she, I called her a she, backed up out of the way and made a noise like
00:13:21a baiting call on an alligator.
00:13:22Like a gunk, gunk.
00:13:25And the big ugly one that I called him, like a jack-in-the-box come alive.
00:13:30And he come over and picked me up by the arm again.
00:13:34And I felt an injection go in my arm.
00:13:37And I heard a noise like that.
00:13:41And I was relaxed again.
00:13:43He carried me out.
00:13:45I was on the pier.
00:13:46But I was facing the river with my arms stretched out in front of me.
00:13:51And that's where I felt Charlie.
00:13:54Charlie was there and he said, you all right, son?
00:13:57You all right?
00:13:58I told Charlie, well, hell no, I'm not all right.
00:14:01And we agreed not to mention that nobody would not tell nobody.
00:14:08Remember, this was 1973.
00:14:11And they put you in a nut house back in just for thinking it, much less saying it.
00:14:17But imagine if, on that night in 1973, several individuals experienced a similar phenomenon.
00:14:25What if Charles and Calvin weren't the only ones to encounter the unexplainable?
00:14:31Their story wouldn't be so crazy, would it?
00:14:38Down through the years, there have been reports of unidentified flying objects.
00:14:43With the dawn of the space age, the frequency of these reports have increased.
00:14:47Many people believe that these UFOs are indeed space vehicles from outer space,
00:14:53manned by living creatures sometimes called humanoids.
00:14:56On rare occasion, actual contact with these creatures from space have been reported.
00:15:02Alien abduction stories have fascinated and puzzled humanity for decades.
00:15:07Yet they almost always share one curious detail.
00:15:12The experiences are deeply personal with little to no external eyewitnesses.
00:15:17Most encounters remain confined to the memories of the individuals involved, leaving skeptics to question their legitimacy.
00:15:27But the Pascagoula case is one of few where multiple independent witnesses came out over the years, reporting phenomena that
00:15:36aligned with the central story.
00:15:38Friends in my family think I'm crazy.
00:15:40It's even hard to make yourself believe it.
00:15:43I didn't admit what I had seen for years.
00:15:46Back in that day, if you'd seen a UFO...
00:15:49It was almost taboo to talk about something like this.
00:15:52I didn't go out and get on TV or interviews or anything.
00:15:55I kind of kept it, me and my wife kept it to ourselves what we'd seen.
00:15:58Back in those days, nobody believed in UFOs.
00:16:01You really had to be crazy if you said you'd seen one.
00:16:04Was it mass hysteria?
00:16:06A series of coincidental misidentifications?
00:16:10Or could these eyewitnesses offer further proof of Charles and Calvin's story of abduction?
00:16:17It was a warm night, as it is here in the South.
00:16:21We were at the red light, waiting for it to turn green.
00:16:25After a few seconds, I said,
00:16:29Hey, guys, do y'all see what I see?
00:16:34And they said, Yeah, man, it looks like an airplane.
00:16:39And it's awful low.
00:16:41It's very low.
00:16:43We just assumed this airplane was in trouble.
00:16:46And, you know, hey, man, that thing looks like it's gonna crash.
00:16:49And then it was on top of us.
00:16:51I looked in the back window, like looking straight up through the back window.
00:16:58And I watched it go straight up.
00:17:02Not side, not back and forth.
00:17:05Straight up.
00:17:06And completely disappeared within seconds.
00:17:11In 1973, I was 32 years old.
00:17:13I remember that part.
00:17:15I was a crane operator at Walker Shipyard, the night of the UFO excited.
00:17:23And I seen this thing, it just eased right over.
00:17:26It looked like it stopped right in the middle of the Pascoe River.
00:17:29Just stopped, dead still.
00:17:31Maybe a tiny bit of movement, not much.
00:17:33It was an egg shaped looking thing.
00:17:38You really couldn't tell that much about it.
00:17:40You could tell that it was oval shaped.
00:17:44You'll never understand totally until you've been there.
00:17:50You know, I was a senior in high school.
00:17:53And I was 18 years old.
00:17:55And this was October.
00:17:58So it had to have been a Friday night or maybe the Saturday night,
00:18:02which would have put it at the 12th or 13th.
00:18:05We were on SB Avenue fixing to turn east onto Pineville Road.
00:18:10And we just got a little ways around on Pineville Road.
00:18:14And all of a sudden, boom, the whole inside of the car lit up blue.
00:18:19I'm shocked.
00:18:21I don't know what's going on.
00:18:22We were coming from Pascagoula to Goche.
00:18:25And as soon as I got up on top of the bridge,
00:18:29I seen these very bright lights.
00:18:31They were not rotating.
00:18:33It was just a wide span of bright lights.
00:18:36Never thought of the fact that it could have been a UFO.
00:18:39If I had, I would have turned off on the port road
00:18:41and went down there to see what was going on.
00:18:43But we came on to Goche.
00:18:44And like I said, didn't hear it on the news until 10 o'clock.
00:18:46But it was pretty amazing to see that, you know, to witness it.
00:18:51And then not realize what I was even seeing at the time.
00:18:54It seemed like quite a few people had seen something
00:18:57that was unexplanatory, you know, that evening.
00:19:03I had walked outside to take out the trash.
00:19:07I looked up above the house and there was a red, white, and blue flashing light.
00:19:14It has the ability to change colors.
00:19:18It had no wings.
00:19:19It had no manner of propulsion that I could tell.
00:19:22No vapor trail.
00:19:23We watched this thing make some of the most, some of the most incredible turns you've ever seen.
00:19:33They would make 90-degree angles at just such a fast pace that there's no possible way that a human
00:19:39being could, you know,
00:19:41could be in there because the g-forces would be so bad.
00:19:44But it was like you would take the arrow on a computer screen and just take the mouse and just
00:19:51wiggle it all around.
00:19:52That's the way this thing was moved.
00:19:53You know, I was always, I've been interested in astronomy for years.
00:19:58So I always kind of watched the sky anyway.
00:20:01I had taken my dogs out in the backyard and just idly waiting on the dogs.
00:20:06They got their evening run and I noticed something in the west.
00:20:12But first, of course, I thought it was a plane.
00:20:14I realized that's not a plane.
00:20:17I have no idea what I'm looking at, but it doesn't look like any plane I'd ever seen before.
00:20:23I want to use the word hovered.
00:20:25It kind of stayed in one position for, oh, several minutes.
00:20:32And then it slowly started to move to the south and it stopped.
00:20:40And then it moved slowly to the north and it stopped.
00:20:44It moved back toward the south and it stopped.
00:20:47It did this probably at least three or four times.
00:20:50And then before I could even recognize really what was happening,
00:20:56the only words I can use is it shot off to the north and disappeared.
00:21:01This was in the afternoon.
00:21:02I was riding my bicycle down the street and it caught my eye.
00:21:09There was this green smoke.
00:21:12And I ran inside and told my mother and finally got her to come out there.
00:21:16And she saw it too.
00:21:18And maybe, I don't know, 10 to 15 minutes, it just sort of faded out.
00:21:23And after it did, all of a sudden this thing appeared out of nowhere.
00:21:28It just looked like it just popped out of thin air.
00:21:34And I assumed we were looking up at the bottom of it.
00:21:41What makes this case different to most, if not all the others,
00:21:47is the fact that we have a growing number of independent, first-hand eyewitnesses.
00:21:58And that is like unlike anything I've ever come across before.
00:22:07Whilst these eyewitnesses took decades to reveal their stories of that night,
00:22:12for Charles and Calvin in 1973, they had to make a decision.
00:22:18Would they keep their encounters secret or try to convince the world of what had happened to them?
00:22:24Charlie wanted to call somebody and tell them.
00:22:28I said, no, let's not. I didn't see nothing.
00:22:33I'm just going to act like I don't remember nothing, like I was blacked out.
00:22:38I couldn't see, you know, distinctly because I was at the point where I passed out.
00:22:44Which, at the time, that was probably the best thing I could do
00:22:48because I didn't like people. I didn't like pressure.
00:22:51I didn't want nobody to know. I had just started a job with him.
00:22:56So we agreed on that. We wasn't going to mention nobody.
00:23:00But unknown to Calvin, Charles had other ideas.
00:23:05I think Daddy's the one that made the decision that, yes, they should tell someone.
00:23:12And I can understand Calvin not wanting to get in the limelight and everything like that.
00:23:18My father, I guess, just thought it was too important to ignore.
00:23:25Directly after the alleged happening, Charles told Calvin to drive to the Mississippi press room
00:23:31to share their news with a reporter, going against what they had agreed.
00:23:36Once there, the two men met with accusations of being drunk to craft such an unbelievable story.
00:23:44Now we have social media, seeing comments online that,
00:23:48oh, what were these two Southern guys drinking?
00:23:52Well, you know, A, they weren't drinking, but even if they had, you know,
00:23:58anybody watching this today, have you been drunk at any point?
00:24:01Did you hallucinate an alien abduction?
00:24:04I don't think so, you know.
00:24:06So, but they weren't drinking anyway. It's as simple as that.
00:24:10The press office directed them to speak with the police,
00:24:13as their story was impossible to believe, and therefore wasn't newsworthy.
00:24:19So we called the sheriff's department, and they told us to wait, to wait right here for them.
00:24:30I was on patrol, and I heard some chatter on the radio, and I heard some officers talking about it.
00:24:37And I didn't understand everything, but they were talking about someone had been abducted by a UFO and everything.
00:24:48And personally, at that point, I thought it was just a joke, or the guys were just talking about it.
00:24:55Officers at night, late at night, and we all did, we would do funny things.
00:25:03We'd get bored, and you know, we'd put out different traffic on the radio,
00:25:07just to make everybody laugh and keep them awake.
00:25:11And they showed up just a few minutes later, and that's when they, of course, we was in my car,
00:25:20and I was driving, and they walked up to the door.
00:25:22They looked in the car.
00:25:24They asked me to see the driver's license and to step out.
00:25:29I stepped out of the car.
00:25:31They told me to stand on my left leg, raise my right leg,
00:25:36and bend my head back, touch my nose, close my eyes,
00:25:39and count to 200 backwards and jump up and down.
00:25:44Of course, I told them I couldn't do that sober, much less if I was drinking.
00:25:49But they put me through the meal.
00:25:52There's a little sobriety test.
00:25:54We walked the line and all.
00:25:56And finally, Glenn Ryder said,
00:25:59You sober enough to drive, anyway, follow us to the police sheriff's department.
00:26:09Walking into the Jackson County Sheriff's Department,
00:26:12the two probably knew their story would be tough for anyone to believe.
00:26:15But for Charles, it was a story he needed to tell.
00:26:25I was with the Pascagoula Police Department in 1973 when all of the UFO stuff happened.
00:26:39Yeah, this was my riot shotgun.
00:26:42It gave a lot of people religion.
00:26:44Bill Gennaro worked for Pascagoula PD,
00:26:47and then later on he worked with me in the Jackson County Sheriff's Department in the early 90s.
00:26:54Yeah, in some places, I was referred to as the MF with the silver shotgun.
00:27:01Pretty good investigator.
00:27:03I can't tell you nothing bad about the man.
00:27:08He was right here in the midst of everything.
00:27:11And I'm sure he'd know things I'd never know.
00:27:18I'd never met Calvin, but, you know, Charlie, due to his drinking,
00:27:23was pretty well known to the law enforcement in the area.
00:27:27Probably if he'd have been the only one that came in reporting the abduction,
00:27:31they probably would have just laughed at him.
00:27:34But Calvin, no.
00:27:37He, you know, straight up, not a drinker at all is what I understand.
00:27:42And that lent a lot of credence to it.
00:27:45When inside the Sheriff's Department,
00:27:47the two men were taken to separate interrogation rooms
00:27:51where they were questioned on what had happened.
00:27:53They kept saying, well, Calvin, you can tell the truth now.
00:27:57You won't be in no trouble right now.
00:27:59But if we keep on, you're going to be, this is a hoax.
00:28:02You're going to be in a lot of trouble.
00:28:04Of course, it wasn't no hoax, so I wouldn't tell them nothing.
00:28:08Whilst Calvin stayed quiet,
00:28:10Charles was in the other room,
00:28:12relaying his story of abduction to the police.
00:28:14You know, you see something like a spirit of that.
00:28:18And I couldn't believe it.
00:28:21And, you know, you'd think you're dreaming about something like that, you know.
00:28:26And Calvin just, he wasn't as terrible, you know.
00:28:30A spirit of that.
00:28:32Two of them just running around behind me
00:28:37and lifting me off the ground.
00:28:40He just had some kind of hands for my own spirit.
00:28:43I've seen instruments that I've never seen
00:28:47nothing like that before in my life.
00:28:49There ain't no way to describe it.
00:28:52I didn't kind of communicate with you.
00:28:53You know, like a big eye.
00:28:58Unsurprisingly, it was hard for the police department
00:29:00to believe what they were being told.
00:29:02The story of two men being abducted by aliens
00:29:06felt more like a Hollywood movie plot than a real-life event.
00:29:10I personally never saw any physical evidence
00:29:15for me to be convinced to believe it.
00:29:19I'm not saying it's not true.
00:29:21I'm talking about me.
00:29:23Unconvinced by their story,
00:29:25the police devised a plan to get the men to admit
00:29:28that this was all a hoax.
00:29:30They set up a secret audio recorder in an interrogation room
00:29:33and sent both Calvin and Charles in.
00:29:36And they wanted to hear us talk to each other.
00:29:38They thought we'd laugh and tell how we got off on them.
00:29:43But neither the sheriff nor his deputies
00:29:45could have imagined what would come next.
00:29:48I never heard it, but I understand it would stand a hair
00:29:51up on the back of your head.
00:29:52The way they were talking, it was no scam.
00:29:55They were scared to death.
00:29:59I was absolutely right.
00:30:00All I remember is the blood.
00:30:02Just like you.
00:30:03Look through that wall right there,
00:30:04see ghosts or something come through.
00:30:07It's just how I was scared or what?
00:30:09When they get through it through the weather,
00:30:10they gotta get you something.
00:30:12Set you down and need some time to sleep.
00:30:15I can't sleep without that.
00:30:16You got one dust,
00:30:17I'll just land your cradle.
00:30:19I remember my arms,
00:30:20it just froze out just like it.
00:30:22I couldn't move,
00:30:22just like and stepped through a damn rattlesnip.
00:30:26They were surprised when they heard us talking.
00:30:30You know, Calvin's literally crawling up the walls, almost crying.
00:30:34I think he says a prayer at one point.
00:30:36And it was that that convinced the sheriff and his deputy
00:30:41that something, you know, unusual had happened to these two gentlemen.
00:30:47They weren't lying, they weren't hoaxing.
00:30:49You know, it's a powerful piece of evidence, it really is.
00:31:15I'm Dr. Irina Scott.
00:31:17I'm an investigator of the Pascagoula case.
00:31:21I've been investigating some aspects of it since about the 1980s.
00:31:27There was a big supply of mysteries in 1973 in the fall,
00:31:32much more than at any normal time.
00:31:36And so Pascagoula wasn't exactly strange
00:31:40because it was happening all over the country.
00:31:45In UFO circles, we use a term called a flap.
00:31:51And basically what a flap is, is a high concentration of UFO sightings
00:31:58from a particular area or geographical location over a certain period of time,
00:32:04like an increase in reported sightings.
00:32:09And 1973 was the year of such a flap.
00:32:14One of these reports was coming from over 200 miles away.
00:32:19And this one was just as strange and extraordinary as Charles and Calvin's encounter.
00:32:26I don't know if it was the same craft or it was a different craft,
00:32:30but it did happen that same night.
00:32:34There were constant sightings being reported from California,
00:32:40through Oklahoma, through Texas, through Missouri, through Arkansas,
00:32:47that there was a good chance if we went out, we would see something.
00:32:53And not beknownst to me, that night happened to be October 11, 1973.
00:33:03I told my friend, if we go out tonight, we may see something.
00:33:08So we went way out, away from the town where we live,
00:33:12away from the city lights.
00:33:14There was no distractions.
00:33:17We ended up way, way out in the countryside,
00:33:20where there was an abundance of cow pastures
00:33:24and no paved roads, just gravel roads.
00:33:28And we stopped on the gravel road in the middle of nowhere.
00:33:32We got out of the car and I looked up and there was a red light
00:33:39and it was moving from west to east across the sky.
00:33:43All of a sudden, it stopped and it turned a green, an emerald green with no sound
00:33:53and it started to come down on an angle, about a 45 degree angle.
00:33:59When we came up the other side, it was coming down across the road and it turned yellow in front
00:34:08of us.
00:34:09I told my friend, drive faster.
00:34:11He was driving so fast, it was like we were hydroplaning on the gravel.
00:34:16I told my friend, blink your lights off and on.
00:34:21He said, it looked like something dropped out of it, it turned purple, and I didn't see that.
00:34:27He stopped the car, we got out of the car, we were on the side of the road again.
00:34:33There was a ditch and a fence, there was another cow pasture,
00:34:36and this, whatever it was, was above that cow pasture, no more than 50 yards from us,
00:34:44not more than 100 feet in the air,
00:34:46and it was pulsating green, red, orange, green, red, orange, in the most vibrant colors.
00:34:56It has the ability to change colors.
00:34:59And you couldn't make out the shape of the craft,
00:35:04because when the red would go, the orange is there,
00:35:08and when the oranges go, the green was there.
00:35:11I mean, it was blood red and emerald green.
00:35:14It was incredible, and there wasn't a breeze, there wasn't a sound.
00:35:20We were standing in total darkness, watching this amazing thing,
00:35:25and I'll never forget the words.
00:35:27I turned to my friend, and I said,
00:35:30you're looking at something from another world.
00:35:35Even further afield was Rosario Nail,
00:35:39who on the same October night in 1973,
00:35:42witnessed something extraordinary in the night sky.
00:35:47It still scares me to talk about it.
00:35:50I mean, I feel my heart rate, you know, picking up and stuff.
00:35:58Because I just don't know what it was.
00:36:01Her encounter with the extraterrestrial marked an eerily similar resemblance
00:36:07to what Charles and Calvin witnessed.
00:36:10Were they connected, or was it just a coincidence?
00:36:15I was 20, 21.
00:36:21I had gone to a girlfriend's house.
00:36:25And so we're sitting on her porch, and it's about,
00:36:29it had gotten dark, so it was about 8.30, 9 o'clock.
00:36:34And in that part of the country, it's pitch black.
00:36:39There's no street lights, because it was very rural.
00:36:42We were out in the country.
00:36:44And so when I say we're sitting on the porch looking at the stars,
00:36:48I mean, you could see
00:36:51the stars are brilliant,
00:36:53because there's nothing to interfere with that.
00:36:56So we're sitting there talking,
00:37:00and we're looking up.
00:37:04And all of a sudden, I went,
00:37:06oh, wow, look, do you see the fallen star?
00:37:09And I pointed to it.
00:37:12And she said, yeah, I see it.
00:37:15Well, then, as it's coming down,
00:37:19then I realize it's going across the sky.
00:37:22And I'm like, wait, that can't be a fallen star.
00:37:26But it was big.
00:37:27And then all of a sudden,
00:37:30three lights emitted from it.
00:37:35But you could see three figures coming out of the light.
00:37:39And I'm like, oh, wow.
00:37:42Because then I'm thinking that it's a meteorite,
00:37:45and then it exploded or something.
00:37:49But what happened next would prove
00:37:51that whatever Rosario was looking at,
00:37:53it definitely wasn't a meteor.
00:37:58But these three separate walls
00:38:03emitted from it,
00:38:05and they went that way,
00:38:09which would have been south.
00:38:11It comes down,
00:38:13and the farther down it comes,
00:38:15I mean, it literally looked like the sun.
00:38:19It was that big.
00:38:22And then as,
00:38:23when it's coming down,
00:38:25I could hear dogs in the distance,
00:38:27like everybody in the country has a dog.
00:38:30But these dogs
00:38:34were barking
00:38:35like they were trying to attack something.
00:38:44and then it moved across the sky,
00:38:47about that far,
00:38:49and then it shot straight up.
00:38:52I mean, like,
00:38:53like that.
00:38:56I'm like,
00:38:57holy crap.
00:38:59Didn't have any kind of weird feeling or anything
00:39:01until it went in reverse.
00:39:05Then I was terrified at that point.
00:39:09I don't know why.
00:39:10I knew it wasn't normal,
00:39:12and it wasn't a natural phenomenon.
00:39:18But that's what happened that night.
00:39:22I did not know at the time,
00:39:24but the next day in the paper,
00:39:26there was an article printed
00:39:28about a whole family
00:39:30in a small community to the north
00:39:32of where we were standing
00:39:33that saw the same object.
00:39:36Another sighting of a UFO
00:39:38was reported to the DI,
00:39:40which is the local paper
00:39:41called the Daily Iberian,
00:39:43by an area resident Friday.
00:39:47New Iberia is approximately,
00:39:49probably about 200 miles
00:39:50to the west of Pascagoula
00:39:54in coastal Louisiana.
00:39:55It would be west of New Orleans.
00:39:59Curly Miguez Jr. of Lydia
00:40:01said he and his wife,
00:40:04Kenneth Robichaux,
00:40:05and a host of Robichaux neighbors
00:40:08sighted a UFO Thursday night.
00:40:11Miguez said he observed
00:40:13what was certain to be
00:40:15some type of aircraft,
00:40:17which increased its speed at times,
00:40:20hovered,
00:40:21and sometimes even zigzagged.
00:40:251973 was a very busy year
00:40:28for UFO activity
00:40:29all over the states
00:40:32as well as the world.
00:40:34And also the interesting thing
00:40:35about that is that
00:40:36sometimes these flaps
00:40:39seem to appear
00:40:40when there's a lot
00:40:41of geopolitical things happening.
00:40:43For example, in 1973,
00:40:45you had Watergate going on,
00:40:46you had issues with Iran,
00:40:49and you had the energy crisis
00:40:51was beginning.
00:40:52All of these things
00:40:53were happening,
00:40:54and there's a UFO flap
00:40:55that's sort of underneath it,
00:40:57under the news
00:40:58of everything that's going on.
00:41:02Well, in 1973,
00:41:04if you said you saw a UFO,
00:41:05you were immediately
00:41:06considered a crackpot.
00:41:08You know,
00:41:09oh, those crazy people
00:41:11that see UFOs.
00:41:12Yeah.
00:41:13No, we don't want
00:41:14to talk to you.
00:41:15You know, we don't,
00:41:16well, thank you, see ya.
00:41:18No one wanted to admit
00:41:21they had seen something.
00:41:22I didn't admit
00:41:23what I had seen for years.
00:41:25I'm J. Michael Long.
00:41:27I'm a documentary film producer
00:41:29in Waco, Texas,
00:41:30but I grew up
00:41:31in Ellisville, Mississippi,
00:41:32which is about 90 miles
00:41:34north of Pascagoula.
00:41:37I was 12 years old
00:41:38when this happened,
00:41:39and we had gone
00:41:42to Laurel, Mississippi,
00:41:44to Sears,
00:41:45and I bought a,
00:41:46I got a football.
00:41:47By the time we got home,
00:41:49it was getting dark,
00:41:50and I couldn't get out
00:41:50in the yard
00:41:51and play with the football,
00:41:51so I just went out
00:41:52into the street
00:41:53in front of the house
00:41:54where there was a streetlight,
00:41:56and I was throwing the football
00:41:57up in the air
00:41:58and catching it,
00:41:59and at one point,
00:42:00I threw the ball up,
00:42:01wind blew it or whatever,
00:42:02and it landed over in my yard,
00:42:03so I walked up the little slope,
00:42:05and I reached down
00:42:07to pick the football up,
00:42:09and as I did,
00:42:09I looked to the north,
00:42:10and there was this orange
00:42:12ball in the sky,
00:42:13and I didn't know
00:42:15what that was.
00:42:16I mean, I was 12 years old.
00:42:17I didn't know anything
00:42:17about UFOs
00:42:18or anything of that nature,
00:42:20and this ball
00:42:21was moving very,
00:42:22very slowly,
00:42:23but it was just tracking
00:42:24across the sky,
00:42:25and I remember
00:42:27as I stood there
00:42:28watching it,
00:42:29I was riveted,
00:42:30and I couldn't move,
00:42:31and I was watching it,
00:42:32and when it got directly
00:42:33in front,
00:42:34I remember thinking
00:42:35to myself that
00:42:36you could put
00:42:37my mother's car
00:42:38inside this thing
00:42:40at least twice,
00:42:42I believed that
00:42:43there was probably
00:42:44something solid
00:42:45that was emanating,
00:42:46you know,
00:42:46illuminating the light,
00:42:48but it was so bright
00:42:49it was difficult
00:42:49to see anything
00:42:50that might have been
00:42:51inside it,
00:42:52and he said
00:42:53it was like being
00:42:54in an extremely
00:42:57bright light bulb,
00:43:00and it continued
00:43:01to drift and drift
00:43:02and drift
00:43:03until finally
00:43:03it went to the horizon,
00:43:05it looked like
00:43:06a little star
00:43:06in the distance,
00:43:07and it went over
00:43:08the horizon,
00:43:09and it was headed
00:43:10south to the coast.
00:43:12Whatever it was
00:43:13that J. Michaels saw,
00:43:15it was now heading
00:43:16in the direction
00:43:17of Pascagoula.
00:43:18Could it have been
00:43:19the same thing
00:43:20that Charles
00:43:21and Calvin saw?
00:43:22The adults
00:43:23were snickering
00:43:24and joking
00:43:25and laughing
00:43:25about the two guys
00:43:26in Pascagoula
00:43:27that claimed
00:43:28they were abducted
00:43:29by aliens,
00:43:30and that's when
00:43:31I realized
00:43:32that the night
00:43:32that what I saw
00:43:34was the same night
00:43:35that they were abducted.
00:43:44By the following morning,
00:43:45the local press
00:43:46had a hold
00:43:47of the story,
00:43:48and now Calvin
00:43:49and Charles' experience
00:43:50was the talk
00:43:51of Pascagoula.
00:43:52It was just
00:43:53a few minutes' drive
00:43:54to the shipyard
00:43:55where we was working.
00:43:56We pulled up,
00:43:58and there was
00:43:59TV trucks
00:44:00with the uplink
00:44:01stuck up in the air
00:44:02and all.
00:44:02It was a bunch of them.
00:44:04The guy
00:44:05that owned
00:44:06the shipyard
00:44:07said,
00:44:08Calvin Parker
00:44:08and Charlie Hickson
00:44:09come to the office.
00:44:11He said,
00:44:12y'all gonna have
00:44:12to give a press release
00:44:14or something
00:44:15because we can't
00:44:16even use the phones.
00:44:18And I realized
00:44:19then the story
00:44:20was out.
00:44:21It really hit me.
00:44:22Everybody knew then.
00:44:24With Charles
00:44:25and Calvin's story
00:44:26now out in the open,
00:44:28other eyewitnesses
00:44:29started to realize
00:44:30that what they'd seen
00:44:32wasn't an anomaly.
00:44:33It was really exciting
00:44:35up until I heard
00:44:37on the news.
00:44:38They called it
00:44:39an alien encounter
00:44:41that had happened
00:44:42the previous night.
00:44:43Calvin and Charlie
00:44:45had been abducted.
00:44:46It was all
00:44:47on the front page.
00:44:48And they described
00:44:49what they saw
00:44:50and both seemed
00:44:52to be in a state
00:44:52of shock.
00:44:53And that's when
00:44:54it really bothered me.
00:44:56My heart jumped up
00:44:57in my throat.
00:44:58I'm thinking,
00:44:59you know,
00:44:59that could have been us.
00:45:00People were scared.
00:45:03People were
00:45:05spreading rumors.
00:45:07For many,
00:45:08the story of Charles Hickson
00:45:10and Calvin Parker's
00:45:11encounter
00:45:11with an unknown craft
00:45:13seemed almost
00:45:14too extraordinary
00:45:15to believe.
00:45:16But for the two men
00:45:17at the center
00:45:18of the experience,
00:45:19the ordeal
00:45:20was very real.
00:45:22Word of their encounter
00:45:23quickly reached authorities
00:45:25and before long
00:45:26the two men
00:45:27were summoned
00:45:28to Kiesler Air Force Base.
00:45:31It was a step
00:45:32neither man
00:45:33had sought out
00:45:34but one they felt
00:45:35compelled to take
00:45:36as the world around them
00:45:38began to close in.
00:45:40Both gents
00:45:41went to
00:45:41Kiesler Air Force Base
00:45:43to be checked
00:45:44for radiation.
00:45:45The same Kiesler Air Force Base
00:45:47was the night before
00:45:47I told them
00:45:48to get lost.
00:45:49Daddy told me
00:45:50that they had people
00:45:51in radiation suits
00:45:53at the gate.
00:45:54And they
00:45:55not got their counters
00:45:57but something
00:45:57they had
00:45:58to detect radiation.
00:46:00They run it over
00:46:01and they found
00:46:02a little bit
00:46:03you know,
00:46:04why be in radiation suits
00:46:05if you didn't think
00:46:06something happened?
00:46:07I worked in the oil field
00:46:09and I worked around
00:46:10on gamma rays
00:46:11and all that
00:46:12plus welding
00:46:13puts out
00:46:14a certain amount
00:46:15of radiation
00:46:16and I had been
00:46:17welding all day.
00:46:18They said
00:46:19all clear.
00:46:20Everybody pulled
00:46:21their suits off.
00:46:23They said
00:46:23some of the brass
00:46:24wants to see you
00:46:24in the back.
00:46:26And they said
00:46:27while you're here
00:46:28gents
00:46:29why don't you
00:46:30sit down
00:46:30and tell us
00:46:31what's happened?
00:46:32We followed them
00:46:33down the hall
00:46:34it seemed like
00:46:34it took hours
00:46:35to get
00:46:36it was just
00:46:36a matter of
00:46:38five minutes
00:46:39probably
00:46:39but it seemed
00:46:40like it took
00:46:41hours
00:46:42to get
00:46:42walked out
00:46:43home
00:46:43and we opened
00:46:46the door
00:46:46and there was
00:46:49all kind of
00:46:50brass in there
00:46:51which officers
00:46:53and it was
00:46:54the police departments
00:46:55from every
00:46:56major city
00:46:57on the coast
00:46:58the sheriff department
00:47:00and some
00:47:01of the military
00:47:02brass.
00:47:03and it was
00:47:04mainly Charlie
00:47:05talking
00:47:05you know
00:47:07and we
00:47:08we know that
00:47:09because
00:47:09we have a
00:47:11transcript of
00:47:11the meeting.
00:47:18Charlie was
00:47:19my spokesman
00:47:20by then
00:47:20and I let him
00:47:21make the fool
00:47:22what I thought
00:47:23make the fool
00:47:24out of his self
00:47:25and I'm gonna
00:47:26go on
00:47:27and everybody
00:47:28forget about me
00:47:29in a day or two
00:47:29you know
00:47:31and that
00:47:32wasn't the case.
00:47:34Fred Diamond
00:47:35which was a
00:47:36sheriff
00:47:36said for us
00:47:38not to leave
00:47:38that somebody
00:47:39was there
00:47:39to see us
00:47:40which was
00:47:41Dr. Hynek
00:47:42and Dr. Harder.
00:47:44Of all the men
00:47:45in the UFO field
00:47:46today
00:47:46the name of
00:47:47Dr. J. Allen
00:47:48Hynek
00:47:48tops the list.
00:47:50The former
00:47:50Blue Book
00:47:51investigator
00:47:51for the Air Force
00:47:52and current
00:47:53head of the
00:47:54astronomy department
00:47:54at Northwestern
00:47:55University.
00:47:56Hynek was over
00:47:57Project Blue Book
00:47:58and he had flown in
00:47:59for California
00:48:00how he found
00:48:02out about it
00:48:03and got there
00:48:03that fast
00:48:04I don't know
00:48:05because really
00:48:07it didn't hit
00:48:08the media
00:48:08until that
00:48:09same morning
00:48:10and he was
00:48:11there that evening
00:48:12and that was
00:48:13just unheard of
00:48:14to come from
00:48:15California
00:48:16that far
00:48:17in a day's time.
00:48:20Because of
00:48:21his expertise
00:48:22in the field
00:48:23of UFOs
00:48:24Dr. Hynek
00:48:25is called
00:48:26to the scene
00:48:26of every major
00:48:27UFO sighting
00:48:28he was summoned
00:48:29to Pascagoula
00:48:30Mississippi
00:48:30last October
00:48:31hours after
00:48:32two shipyard
00:48:33workers
00:48:34Charles Hickson
00:48:35and Calvin Parker
00:48:36stumbled into
00:48:37a sheriff's office
00:48:37and said they had
00:48:38been taken aboard
00:48:39a flying saucer.
00:48:40Dr. Hynek
00:48:42really is the one
00:48:43that got me
00:48:44out of the shell
00:48:44to start with.
00:48:46I talked to him
00:48:47about it
00:48:47and I would
00:48:48call him
00:48:49and he would
00:48:51call me
00:48:51and check on me
00:48:53probably once a week.
00:48:55Dr. Hynek
00:48:56also talked
00:48:58about other
00:48:59cases
00:48:59going on.
00:49:01I guess he
00:49:02was doing that
00:49:02to try to
00:49:03relax
00:49:05me
00:49:05and get me
00:49:06where it opened
00:49:07me up
00:49:07and get me
00:49:08where I would
00:49:08talk about it.
00:49:09You had a really
00:49:10hard time
00:49:11and he knew
00:49:13that and I think
00:49:14he knew how
00:49:16to focus in
00:49:17on that
00:49:18and help you.
00:49:19But he was a
00:49:20blessing.
00:49:21It was the only
00:49:22good thing
00:49:23that come out
00:49:23right when
00:49:24that happened.
00:49:26We got
00:49:27to work
00:49:28that morning
00:49:28and Dr. Hynek
00:49:30pulled me in
00:49:31and Dr. Harder
00:49:32pulled Charlie
00:49:32in and then
00:49:34Charlie and I
00:49:35traded spots
00:49:36and Dr. Harder
00:49:38tried to
00:49:39well he did
00:49:41hypnotize me.
00:49:54tried to
00:49:54block it
00:49:55out of my
00:49:56mind.
00:49:56When this
00:49:57first happened
00:49:58I would tell
00:49:58everybody I
00:49:59just passed
00:50:00out.
00:50:00I didn't know
00:50:00nothing.
00:50:01I didn't
00:50:01remember
00:50:02nothing.
00:50:02And I
00:50:03couldn't
00:50:03say you
00:50:04know
00:50:05distinctly
00:50:05because I
00:50:06was at
00:50:07the point
00:50:07where I
00:50:07passed
00:50:08out.
00:50:18I
00:50:19don't
00:50:19even so
00:50:20much
00:50:20remember
00:50:21being
00:50:22hypnotized
00:50:22too much.
00:50:23I know
00:50:23I got
00:50:25chills
00:50:26running up
00:50:27my spine
00:50:27and I
00:50:28started
00:50:28shaking
00:50:29real bad.
00:50:29That's
00:50:30what he
00:50:30brought
00:50:30me out.
00:50:31I
00:50:32probably
00:50:33wasn't
00:50:33under it
00:50:34for 30
00:50:34minutes.
00:50:36Just
00:50:36enough
00:50:36to relax.
00:50:37I
00:50:38remember
00:50:39him
00:50:39tying
00:50:39balloons
00:50:40to me
00:50:40and
00:50:40floating
00:50:41off.
00:50:41That
00:50:41was
00:50:42about
00:50:42it.
00:51:0710
00:51:07years
00:51:08he
00:51:08worried
00:51:08you
00:51:09gradually
00:51:10can
00:51:10open
00:51:10this.
00:51:11It
00:51:11brought
00:51:12back
00:51:12some
00:51:12memories
00:51:12and I
00:51:13guess
00:51:13he
00:51:13was
00:51:13trying
00:51:14to
00:51:14bring
00:51:14back
00:51:14memories
00:51:15there
00:51:15and
00:51:15it
00:51:15scared
00:51:16me
00:51:17because
00:51:17I
00:51:18sure
00:51:18didn't
00:51:19want to
00:51:19remember
00:51:20it.
00:51:20I
00:51:21believe
00:51:21my
00:51:21subconscious
00:51:22mind
00:51:24about
00:51:25blocked
00:51:25it
00:51:26out
00:51:26because
00:51:28back
00:51:28then
00:51:28I
00:51:29couldn't
00:51:29handle
00:51:29it.
00:51:30I mean
00:51:30I
00:51:31can
00:51:31handle
00:51:31about
00:51:32anything
00:51:32and
00:51:33I
00:51:34wasn't
00:51:34scared
00:51:35of
00:51:35nothing
00:51:35but
00:51:36I
00:51:36was
00:51:36scared
00:51:36of
00:51:36that.
00:51:38I
00:51:39went
00:51:39down
00:51:40to
00:51:40Patrick
00:51:40Guller
00:51:40completely
00:51:41negative
00:51:42but
00:51:43I
00:51:44worked
00:51:44with
00:51:44those
00:51:44men
00:51:44for
00:51:45quite
00:51:45a
00:51:45while.
00:51:46I
00:51:47listened
00:51:47to
00:51:47tapes
00:51:47that
00:51:48had
00:51:48been
00:51:48taken
00:51:49when
00:51:49they
00:51:49didn't
00:51:49know
00:51:49they
00:51:49were
00:51:50being
00:51:50taped.
00:51:51I
00:51:52saw
00:51:53how
00:51:53Charlie
00:51:54behaved
00:51:54under
00:51:55hypnosis
00:51:55and
00:51:56finally
00:51:57the
00:51:57lie

00:51:59All
00:52:00of
00:52:00those
00:52:00things
00:52:01convinced
00:52:01me
00:52:01that
00:52:02he
00:52:02was
00:52:03not
00:52:03making
00:52:03it
00:52:03up.
00:52:04They
00:52:04had
00:52:04had

00:52:05experience

00:52:13all
00:52:14that
00:52:14sort

00:52:16Of course
00:52:16it
00:52:16fits a
00:52:17pattern.
00:52:17That's
00:52:18not a
00:52:18nice
00:52:18case.

00:52:58but
00:52:58on
00:52:59the
00:52:59third
00:52:59night
00:52:59there
00:52:59was
00:53:00only

00:53:00women
00:53:00and
00:53:01a
00:53:0114
00:53:01year
00:53:01old
00:53:01boy.
00:53:06I
00:53:06pulled
00:53:06up
00:53:07and
00:53:07said

00:53:09And
00:53:10we got
00:53:10a
00:53:10laugh
00:53:11and
00:53:11then

00:53:13pointed
00:53:13and
00:53:13said
00:53:14what's
00:53:14that?
00:53:20Got
00:53:20out and
00:53:21started
00:53:21looking
00:53:22looked
00:53:23like
00:53:23a
00:53:23blue
00:53:24cigar.
00:53:25And
00:53:25I
00:53:25noticed
00:53:26the
00:53:26reflection
00:53:26off
00:53:27the
00:53:27water
00:53:27some
00:53:27hazy
00:53:28blue
00:53:28life.
00:53:29Basically
00:53:29there
00:53:30was
00:53:30no
00:53:30other
00:53:30shape
00:53:30to
00:53:31it
00:53:31than
00:53:31that.
00:53:32We
00:53:33were
00:53:33watching
00:53:33it
00:53:35and
00:53:36there
00:53:37for
00:53:37a
00:53:37couple
00:53:37minutes.
00:53:39And
00:53:39then
00:53:40it
00:53:40headed
00:53:40west
00:53:42in
00:53:42an arc
00:53:43and
00:53:44came
00:53:44to
00:53:44rest
00:53:44180
00:53:45degrees
00:53:45behind
00:53:46us
00:53:46where
00:53:47the
00:53:48abduction
00:53:48was supposed
00:53:49to have
00:53:49happened.
00:53:50And
00:53:50we watched
00:53:51it for
00:53:51a little
00:53:51bit.
00:53:52Then
00:53:52it
00:53:52came
00:53:52back
00:53:5290
00:53:53degrees
00:53:53west
00:53:54and
00:53:54went
00:53:54gone.
00:53:56Now
00:53:57it
00:53:58made
00:53:58no
00:53:58sound.
00:53:59There
00:54:00were
00:54:00no
00:54:00flashing
00:54:00lights.
00:54:02Weather
00:54:02balloons
00:54:02don't

00:54:03that
00:54:03way.
00:54:04Helicopters
00:54:05make
00:54:05noise.
00:54:07I
00:54:07don't
00:54:07know
00:54:07what
00:54:07it
00:54:07was.
00:54:10I
00:54:11didn't
00:54:11think
00:54:11of
00:54:11any
00:54:11other
00:54:12reason
00:54:12for
00:54:12them

00:54:14somebody
00:54:15else
00:54:15to
00:54:15pick
00:54:15up.
00:54:17The
00:54:18women
00:54:18wanted
00:54:18a
00:54:18report
00:54:20and
00:54:20I
00:54:20said
00:54:21I'll
00:54:21tell
00:54:21you
00:54:21what
00:54:21you
00:54:22come
00:54:22to
00:54:22the
00:54:22station
00:54:22with
00:54:23me
00:54:23and
00:54:23tell
00:54:23the
00:54:23captain
00:54:24then
00:54:25I'll
00:54:25write
00:54:25a
00:54:25report.
00:54:26And
00:54:27I
00:54:27did.
00:54:28And
00:54:29procedure
00:54:30at
00:54:30the
00:54:30time
00:54:31was
00:54:32that
00:54:34the
00:54:34media
00:54:34did
00:54:35not
00:54:35get
00:54:35reports
00:54:36until
00:54:36the
00:54:37clerks
00:54:38cleared
00:54:38it.
00:54:39Unfortunately
00:54:39one of
00:54:40the
00:54:40newspaper
00:54:40reporters
00:54:41got there
00:54:43early and
00:54:43grabbed the
00:54:44reports.
00:54:46And when it
00:54:46hit the paper
00:54:47I had to
00:54:48hide.
00:54:49I was dodging
00:54:50media left and
00:54:51right.
00:54:52The chief
00:54:52obviously was not
00:54:54overly
00:54:55happy.
00:54:56and
00:54:57his opinion
00:54:58was
00:55:00keep your
00:55:01eyes on
00:55:01the ground
00:55:02don't
00:55:02look up.
00:55:03Whatever
00:55:04it was
00:55:04Bill
00:55:05Gennaro
00:55:05saw
00:55:05was
00:55:06eerily
00:55:07similar
00:55:07to what
00:55:08Charles
00:55:08and
00:55:08Calvin
00:55:09had
00:55:09experienced
00:55:09just
00:55:10three
00:55:11nights
00:55:11previously.
00:55:13Something
00:55:14strange
00:55:14was
00:55:15happening
00:55:15in
00:55:16Pascagoula
00:55:16and
00:55:17nobody
00:55:18knew
00:55:18why.
00:55:19Amid
00:55:20the
00:55:20growing
00:55:21frenzy
00:55:21of
00:55:21eyewitness
00:55:22accounts
00:55:22and
00:55:23widespread
00:55:23speculation
00:55:24Dr.
00:55:25Heinecke
00:55:26decided to
00:55:27visit the
00:55:27site where
00:55:28Charles and
00:55:28Calvin had
00:55:29reported their
00:55:30abduction.
00:55:30But by the
00:55:31time he
00:55:32arrived the
00:55:33location had
00:55:34already been
00:55:35overrun.
00:55:36He wanted
00:55:36to go to
00:55:37the site to
00:55:38see what
00:55:39it was.
00:55:40I didn't
00:55:40walk on the
00:55:41site with
00:55:41him but I
00:55:42went out
00:55:43there anyway
00:55:44and I
00:55:45remember him
00:55:45being mad
00:55:46because the
00:55:47police department
00:55:48didn't have
00:55:48it ribboned
00:55:49off.
00:55:49The site
00:55:50was now
00:55:51contaminated
00:55:51littered
00:55:52with footprints
00:55:53disturbances
00:55:54and signs
00:55:55of human
00:55:55activity.
00:55:56Whatever
00:55:57clues the
00:55:57original scene
00:55:58might have
00:55:59held were
00:55:59lost making
00:56:01it even
00:56:01harder to
00:56:02separate fact
00:56:03from fiction.
00:56:04And people
00:56:05were stomping
00:56:06all over there
00:56:06reporters
00:56:07was all
00:56:08over it
00:56:08the law
00:56:09enforcement
00:56:09was all
00:56:10over it
00:56:10trying to
00:56:11get the
00:56:11reporters
00:56:12off.
00:56:17Kids
00:56:17that rode
00:56:18a bicycle
00:56:18over there
00:56:19and I
00:56:20remember
00:56:20the law
00:56:21running
00:56:21them
00:56:21off.
00:56:23And
00:56:24later on
00:56:26way down
00:56:27the road
00:56:27one of the
00:56:28kids that
00:56:29rode the
00:56:29bicycle
00:56:30had told
00:56:30me about
00:56:31they went
00:56:32over and
00:56:33seen a
00:56:33spot on
00:56:34the ground
00:56:35where this
00:56:36thing had
00:56:37landed.
00:56:38With another
00:56:39eyewitness
00:56:40coming forward
00:56:41albeit decades
00:56:42later the
00:56:44story of
00:56:44Charles and
00:56:45Calvin's
00:56:45encounter was
00:56:46becoming
00:56:46harder to
00:56:47dismiss.
00:56:55My old
00:56:56name's
00:56:56Bratton
00:56:57Claybrook
00:56:57Caldwell.
00:56:58I go by
00:56:59Clay Caldwell.
00:57:01I was born
00:57:02here in
00:57:03Pascoe,
00:57:03Mississippi.
00:57:04My father
00:57:05was an
00:57:06attorney at
00:57:06Engel's
00:57:07Shipbuilding
00:57:07at the
00:57:08time.
00:57:08He'd
00:57:09got a
00:57:09phone call.
00:57:10I suppose
00:57:11they were
00:57:11concerned
00:57:12about the
00:57:12fact that
00:57:13two men
00:57:13had been
00:57:14abducted by
00:57:15UFO and
00:57:16had reported
00:57:16that that
00:57:17worked there
00:57:18at the
00:57:18Engel's
00:57:19Shipbuilding.
00:57:20My mother
00:57:20was sitting
00:57:21there and
00:57:21she was
00:57:21like,
00:57:22what are
00:57:23they saying?
00:57:24What are
00:57:24they saying?
00:57:25So he
00:57:25was explaining
00:57:26to my
00:57:26mother,
00:57:27well it
00:57:27happened
00:57:28down there
00:57:28at the
00:57:29river at
00:57:29the little
00:57:30fishing pier
00:57:30just south
00:57:31of the
00:57:31drawbridge.
00:57:32So immediately
00:57:33I knew
00:57:34where he was
00:57:34talking about
00:57:35because we
00:57:36used to go
00:57:36fishing there
00:57:36ourselves
00:57:37as kids.
00:57:38That
00:57:39Friday I
00:57:39spoke with
00:57:41some of
00:57:41my friends
00:57:41and said
00:57:43hey,
00:57:44do y'all
00:57:45want to go
00:57:45see where
00:57:45the aliens
00:57:46landed?
00:57:46Would y'all
00:57:46like to go
00:57:47see that?
00:57:48I know
00:57:48where it
00:57:49is.
00:57:50One or two
00:57:50of them
00:57:50were like
00:57:51yeah,
00:57:52but what
00:57:52if something
00:57:52happens?
00:57:53What if
00:57:54they come
00:57:54get us?
00:57:55What if
00:57:56they're still
00:57:56there?
00:57:57And then
00:57:58it started
00:57:58coming up
00:57:59what if
00:57:59they drop
00:57:59something?
00:58:02So as
00:58:02kids we're
00:58:03thinking oh
00:58:04we're going
00:58:04to find a
00:58:04ray gun
00:58:05or we're
00:58:05going to
00:58:05find something
00:58:06from another
00:58:06planet.
00:58:08So that's
00:58:09what we did
00:58:09and we knew
00:58:10we had to
00:58:11be quick.
00:58:12We had to
00:58:12be fast
00:58:12because we
00:58:13knew that
00:58:15if this was
00:58:15ever found
00:58:16out we're
00:58:16in hot
00:58:17water.
00:58:18So we got
00:58:19out there to
00:58:20where the
00:58:20pier was.
00:58:21We kind of
00:58:22scattered around
00:58:22all on the
00:58:23ground,
00:58:24went out on
00:58:25the pier
00:58:26looking.
00:58:26We're looking
00:58:27for anything
00:58:27that may have
00:58:30been left
00:58:30by an alien
00:58:31and we
00:58:32decided
00:58:34where did
00:58:35it land?
00:58:35We decided
00:58:37well let's
00:58:37go out
00:58:38here and
00:58:38look in
00:58:40the weeds
00:58:41and the
00:58:41tall grass
00:58:41and stuff.
00:58:43I say I
00:58:43used to go
00:58:44out in the
00:58:44woods all
00:58:45the time.
00:58:45I wasn't
00:58:45scared to
00:58:46go out
00:58:47in a
00:58:47little bit
00:58:48of tall
00:58:48grass
00:58:48and weeds
00:58:50so we
00:58:51made our
00:58:52way through
00:58:54and I'll
00:58:55just never
00:58:55forget.
00:58:56It was
00:58:57just a
00:58:58feeling
00:58:58when we
00:58:59first saw
00:58:59it we
00:59:00were like
00:59:01whoa
00:59:03what is
00:59:04this?
00:59:07And
00:59:09it was
00:59:10about
00:59:11a 30 foot
00:59:1225-30 foot
00:59:14wide circle
00:59:16of nothing
00:59:17all of a
00:59:18sudden.
00:59:21It was
00:59:21just flat.
00:59:23You would
00:59:24have had
00:59:24to gone
00:59:25in and
00:59:25just cut
00:59:26literally
00:59:27with
00:59:27scissors
00:59:29something
00:59:29so sharp.
00:59:30I've never
00:59:31been able
00:59:31to imagine
00:59:32what kind
00:59:33of machine
00:59:33could do
00:59:33that and
00:59:35leave nothing
00:59:35behind.
00:59:36You know
00:59:37it's not
00:59:38like it
00:59:38was just
00:59:39pushed over
00:59:40like something
00:59:40just landed
00:59:41on top of
00:59:42it.
00:59:42It was
00:59:43like as
00:59:44though
00:59:45something
00:59:46came from
00:59:46above
00:59:47and just
00:59:48removed
00:59:48everything.
00:59:51We just
00:59:52kind of
00:59:52never really
00:59:53talked about
00:59:53it because
00:59:54we didn't
00:59:55want to
00:59:56get in
00:59:56trouble
00:59:57from being
00:59:57someone
00:59:57we weren't
00:59:58supposed to
00:59:58be.
00:59:59And over
01:00:00the years
01:00:00as I grew
01:00:01older
01:00:02and I never
01:00:03really even
01:00:04told my wife
01:00:04about all
01:00:05this until
01:00:07that day
01:00:08we were going
01:00:09to go see
01:00:11the plaque
01:00:12that was
01:00:12being put
01:00:12at the
01:00:13river
01:00:14and on
01:00:15the way
01:00:15I opened
01:00:16up to her.
01:00:22I'm sorry
01:00:24but
01:00:26it kind of
01:00:27disturbs me.
01:00:39it's like
01:00:40anything else
01:00:41you've held
01:00:42inside of
01:00:43you for
01:00:43all these
01:00:43years.
01:00:47And
01:00:48I
01:00:49expect to
01:00:50do this.
01:00:56For Clay
01:00:57Caldwell
01:00:57his memory
01:00:59of what he
01:00:59saw that
01:01:00day had
01:01:00lingered
01:01:01unresolved
01:01:02a burden
01:01:02he carried
01:01:03alone for
01:01:04decades.
01:01:05His story
01:01:06like so many
01:01:07others tied
01:01:08to the
01:01:08Pascagoula
01:01:09abduction
01:01:09was a
01:01:10reminder
01:01:10of how
01:01:10deeply
01:01:11this event
01:01:12affected
01:01:12those who
01:01:13came close
01:01:13to it.
01:01:18Pascagoula
01:01:18was just
01:01:19beginning to
01:01:20settle back
01:01:20into normalcy
01:01:22after the
01:01:22chaos of
01:01:23the abduction
01:01:24story.
01:01:25The town
01:01:26was still
01:01:26buzzing
01:01:27with
01:01:27speculation
01:01:28but life
01:01:29had started
01:01:29to move
01:01:30on.
01:01:31And then
01:01:31just weeks
01:01:33later
01:01:33another
01:01:34strange
01:01:35event
01:01:36shook
01:01:36the
01:01:36community
01:01:37when a
01:01:38mysterious
01:01:39object
01:01:39was
01:01:40reportedly
01:01:40seen
01:01:41in the
01:01:41waters
01:01:42nearby.
01:01:42three
01:01:43little boats
01:01:44gone out
01:01:45fishing
01:01:47and
01:01:48they
01:01:48see
01:01:49something
01:01:50under
01:01:51the
01:01:51water.
01:01:52It's
01:01:52circular,
01:01:54it's
01:01:54illuminated,
01:01:55it was
01:01:56segmented,
01:01:57it looked like
01:01:57one of the
01:01:58old-fashioned
01:01:58parachutes,
01:01:59it was
01:02:00segmented,
01:02:01and they
01:02:01got so
01:02:02close to
01:02:02it that
01:02:03they could
01:02:04hit it
01:02:04with an
01:02:04oar,
01:02:05and it
01:02:05went
01:02:05clunk.
01:02:07And one
01:02:08of those
01:02:08fishermen,
01:02:09there's only
01:02:10one of that
01:02:10party that
01:02:11went out
01:02:12that night
01:02:12still alive,
01:02:13there was
01:02:13eight,
01:02:13I believe,
01:02:14all together,
01:02:15this chap
01:02:15called
01:02:15Earl Ryan.
01:02:17We
01:02:17know
01:02:17what
01:02:18we
01:02:18say
01:02:18at
01:02:19night,
01:02:20and my
01:02:20daddy
01:02:21was
01:02:21going
01:02:21to go
01:02:22down
01:02:22to the
01:02:23duck,
01:02:23and look
01:02:23down at
01:02:24what
01:02:24was
01:02:25going
01:02:25on,
01:02:25we
01:02:25didn't
01:02:26know
01:02:26what
01:02:26it
01:02:27was,
01:02:28and
01:02:28it
01:02:28got
01:02:28poking
01:02:29at,
01:02:29poking
01:02:29at,
01:02:30it
01:02:30sounded
01:02:30like
01:02:31a piece
01:02:32of metal,
01:02:33that's
01:02:33when the
01:02:34light
01:02:34went
01:02:34off.
01:02:35So
01:02:36when
01:02:36one
01:02:36got
01:02:36the
01:02:36coast
01:02:37guard,
01:02:38he
01:02:38managed
01:02:38to
01:02:38get
01:02:39back
01:02:39out
01:02:39there
01:02:39and
01:02:39work
01:02:40for
01:02:40that,
01:02:40and
01:02:41they
01:02:41got
01:02:41the
01:02:41problem
01:02:41to
01:02:42women
01:02:42and
01:02:43the
01:02:43life
01:02:43went
01:02:44off
01:02:44again.
01:02:45It's a
01:02:45very
01:02:46bizarre
01:02:48sighting,
01:02:48if you
01:02:49like,
01:02:49in its
01:02:49own
01:02:50right,
01:02:50but this
01:02:50happened
01:02:51again just
01:02:52after the
01:02:53events in
01:02:54question with
01:02:55Charlie and
01:02:55Calvin,
01:02:56in the same
01:02:56part of the
01:02:57river,
01:02:57but just a
01:02:58little bit
01:02:58further out.
01:03:00And
01:03:01fortunately,
01:03:02there is a
01:03:03photograph of
01:03:04all those
01:03:05present,
01:03:06all the
01:03:06civilians,
01:03:07that was
01:03:07taken by
01:03:08the
01:03:08coast guard.
01:03:09They've
01:03:09lined them
01:03:09up on
01:03:09the
01:03:09side,
01:03:10taken a
01:03:10photograph of
01:03:11them,
01:03:12and the
01:03:12good thing
01:03:13for us,
01:03:13although the
01:03:14names are
01:03:14mentioned in
01:03:15the documents,
01:03:17the names are
01:03:18all on the
01:03:18back of the
01:03:18photograph.
01:03:23And the
01:03:24U.S.
01:03:25Navy were
01:03:25brought in the
01:03:26next day,
01:03:26sent a
01:03:27gentleman,
01:03:29and Mr.
01:03:30Ironhill Ryan,
01:03:31one of the
01:03:31witnesses,
01:03:32showed him
01:03:32where the
01:03:33incident
01:03:33happened,
01:03:34and he
01:03:35said that
01:03:35the Navy
01:03:36were going
01:03:36to look
01:03:36into it
01:03:37and issue
01:03:37a full
01:03:38report.
01:03:39But some
01:03:40naval workers
01:03:41aboard a
01:03:41ship on
01:03:42the Pascagoula
01:03:43River had
01:03:44already experienced
01:03:45something similar.
01:03:46I had top-secret
01:03:47clearance when I
01:03:48was in the
01:03:48Navy, which is
01:03:51one reason why I
01:03:52never talked about
01:03:52it in the Navy.
01:03:53We could see
01:03:54six spherical,
01:03:58shiny, silver,
01:04:00metallic-looking,
01:04:02aluminum-looking
01:04:03objects in the
01:04:04water under the
01:04:05surface.
01:04:07We're traveling
01:04:08about, I would
01:04:09have to say,
01:04:1035 to 40
01:04:11knots.
01:04:12They were
01:04:12traveling at a
01:04:12very rapid rate
01:04:14of speed.
01:04:14They came from
01:04:15a southeasterly
01:04:16point, came to
01:04:18the northwest,
01:04:19and curved right
01:04:20up into the
01:04:20river.
01:04:21And then when
01:04:23they came back
01:04:23out, I assumed
01:04:25it was the same
01:04:26six, but six
01:04:27more came back
01:04:28out, and they
01:04:29went straight
01:04:29into the Gulf.
01:04:30And from our
01:04:32vantage point
01:04:32here, we saw
01:04:33them, detected
01:04:34them, and they
01:04:35were right about
01:04:35here.
01:04:36And like I said,
01:04:38it was only a few
01:04:38minutes before
01:04:39they were out of
01:04:39sight as they
01:04:40were traveling
01:04:40on extremely,
01:04:42extremely rapid.
01:04:43That night, the
01:04:44Coast Guard saw
01:04:46objects just like
01:04:47we did.
01:04:48A lot of the
01:04:48fishermen out in
01:04:50the Gulf that
01:04:51had seen them
01:04:51described the
01:04:52same exact type
01:04:53of craft.
01:04:55So it's a
01:04:56powerful, powerful
01:04:57batch of evidence,
01:04:58if you like.
01:04:59If you were just
01:04:59looking at this
01:05:00case on its
01:05:01own, it would
01:05:01be, wow, this
01:05:02is fascinating.
01:05:03But of course, it
01:05:04comes in the wake
01:05:05of what happened
01:05:06just a few weeks
01:05:07earlier.
01:05:09The mystery of
01:05:10what happened in
01:05:11Pascagoula in
01:05:121973 remains
01:05:14unsolved to
01:05:16this day.
01:05:17Decades later,
01:05:18the questions
01:05:19linger.
01:05:20But with all the
01:05:21eyewitnesses and
01:05:22the compelling
01:05:23accounts that have
01:05:24come out over
01:05:24the years, the
01:05:26events in
01:05:26Pascagoula stand
01:05:28out as one of
01:05:29the most credible
01:05:30and fascinating
01:05:31glimpses into
01:05:32the unknown,
01:05:33offering a story
01:05:34that continues to
01:05:35captivate and
01:05:36challenge our
01:05:37understanding of
01:05:38the world around
01:05:39us.
01:05:40Whatever happened
01:05:41in 1973, the
01:05:44shared experiences
01:05:45of the residents
01:05:46of Pascagoula and
01:05:48those who witness
01:05:48things further
01:05:49afield will connect
01:05:51them forever.
01:05:56And while Calvin
01:05:57Parker's story may
01:05:59have seemed
01:05:59increasingly plausible
01:06:01as more and more
01:06:02witnesses came
01:06:03forward over the
01:06:04years, the truth
01:06:06remained that his
01:06:07life could never
01:06:08truly return to
01:06:11what it once was.
01:06:13I had my plan for
01:06:15life when I was
01:06:1818 years old.
01:06:19I had everything
01:06:20planned out the
01:06:21way that I wanted
01:06:22and I've always
01:06:24said I was going
01:06:25to get married,
01:06:26buy a house,
01:06:27have children,
01:06:28have grandchildren,
01:06:29retired fish.
01:06:31And that was
01:06:32simple life.
01:06:33That's all I wanted.
01:06:35Since this happened,
01:06:37I chased the media.
01:06:39The media's chased me.
01:06:42They're set up at
01:06:44night, wonder why
01:06:45I'll worry about
01:06:47this stuff.
01:06:48And you're wary
01:06:49and brings on
01:06:51sickness.
01:06:52And I really
01:06:53believe you can
01:06:57worry yourself
01:06:58sick.
01:07:00I think that's
01:07:01so much wrong
01:07:02with me.
01:07:06So I wanted my
01:07:08life to be
01:07:09stable.
01:07:10I wanted my
01:07:11marriage to be
01:07:12stable.
01:07:13And it is now.
01:07:16And I got a
01:07:17great family.
01:07:18I got a wonderful
01:07:19wife, wonderful
01:07:20kids, wonderful
01:07:24son-in-law.
01:07:27And everything's
01:07:29stable now.
01:07:30Then I got sick.
01:07:32So another curveball
01:07:33comes in.
01:07:35So it's just
01:07:36something you
01:07:37have to deal
01:07:37with.
01:07:39And I'm
01:07:39making plans
01:07:40now for them.
01:07:42I'm not planning
01:07:43for myself because
01:07:44I don't feel like
01:07:46I'm going to be
01:07:47around.
01:07:47Nobody ever
01:07:48knows.
01:07:49But I don't
01:07:51want to leave
01:07:51this whole world
01:07:52and leave
01:07:53everybody in a
01:07:54bind.
01:07:55I don't want to
01:07:56owe nobody
01:07:57no money.
01:07:57I don't want to
01:07:58lie.
01:07:59and to do
01:08:01right by your
01:08:01family and
01:08:02friends and to
01:08:05live by your
01:08:06conscience.
01:08:10No, I'm not
01:08:12afraid of it at
01:08:12all.
01:08:15Everybody's
01:08:15going to die,
01:08:16so I'm not
01:08:16scared of dying.
01:08:18I wouldn't be
01:08:19sitting here
01:08:19fixing to die
01:08:20and lying about
01:08:21it all.
01:08:24So anyhow,
01:08:25I want to say
01:08:26goodbye and
01:08:26goodnight to
01:08:27everybody.
01:08:30Everybody,
01:08:31goodnight.
01:08:32And I hope
01:08:33y'all enlightened
01:08:35somehow.
01:09:10you
