00:00Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Minister Mustafa Saabmud has urged all parties to maintain
00:05decorum as discussions continue on issues involving Petroleum Nacional Berhad and Petroleum
00:10Sarawak Berhad.
00:11Mustafa said the Madani government remained open to discussions on matters regarding
00:16relations between the federal and state governments, including the current legal dispute involving
00:21Petronas and Petros.
00:23Mustafa also said arguments should be based on facts and added that the matter should
00:28be allowed to run its course in court.
00:30On February 23rd, the Sarawak government announced that it had commenced proceedings in the federal
00:35court to seek clarity on the constitutionality of the Petroleum Development Act 1974, the
00:41Continental Shelf Act 1966 and the Petroleum Mining Act 1966 and their application to the state.
00:48The filing came a month after Petronas sought leave from the Apex court to obtain judicial
00:53clarity on the regulatory framework governing its operations in Sarawak.
00:57Mustafa also reiterated that the rights of Sabah and Sarawak would be defended, particularly
01:02those guaranteed under the federal constitution.
