01:00This morning and then he was out on the court going through his pregame routine by 845 and as you
01:05can see he looked pretty good here but he didn't respond particularly the foot the way that the Lakers and
01:11the training staff were hoping that he would and so about an hour before tip he was ruled out of
01:16this game.
01:17Now I am told that this is more the foot again than the elbow and this is something that is
01:22going to be day to day moving forward Dave.
01:24All right Malik well Doris Luka Doncer certainly capable of carrying the Lakers without James we saw Friday night he
01:30had in a game without James he had 44 points in three quarters.
01:34At the moment every aspect of that vast offensive arsenal is on display every aspect so the step back is
01:40going the floaters going the three ball you name it he has been sensational so he can singularly put you
01:47on his back.
01:47So can Jalen Brunson for the Knicks he can do it as a score or assisting three straight games with
01:5310 or more assists tying a career high he is ruling the court brought to you by Burger King.
01:57He's just a winner.
01:58I love what he's doing because he's a guy who averages over 26 but all of a sudden all the
02:04gravity and the double teams are being sent his way.
02:06So what does he do you shoot less and look at the assist numbers the last two games making all
02:12the right plays starting lineups delivered by Taco Bell the usual five for the Knicks of Hart OGN and OB
02:19Towns Bridges and Brunson and Hachimura for the second straight game will start to the injured LeBron James along with
02:26Aiton Reeves and Donchich.
02:30The Knicks at 41 and 23 they have won nine of their last 11 road games three in a row
02:37by 15 points or more which ties the second longest streak in Knicks history.
02:44Meanwhile the Lakers game two of a five game homestand the hope is LeBron James now will be back for
02:50Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves.
02:55L.A. currently sixth in the West 38 and 25 they're two games out of third in the last column
03:01but they're also two games from the play in your life in the West just feels precarious regardless of where
03:09you sit.
03:12Donchich with a no look pass raves three in and out but a foul called and it will be free
03:17throws for Reeves.
03:21Mikel Bridges on the closeout picks up the early foul and with Cleveland losing to Boston earlier the Knicks are
03:30now two games up on the Cavs for that third spot as you see the contact from Bridges.
03:36But that is one aspect and we'll document some of the Knicks improvement on the defensive end throughout the course
03:42of this telecast but that type of closeout is part of why their defense is better.
03:47So yes you commit a foul it's not ideal but if you're Mike Brown you do love the improved physicality
03:55the improvement at the screen you improve you know closeouts heavy contests there has been a market improvement for the
04:02New York Knicks.
04:04So listen you know Austin Reeves can make corner threes you know in particular he can make corner threes he
04:10is covering a lot of ground now you want to be disciplined on the closeout but you're covering so much
04:15space that in doing so you commit the foul.
04:19Reeves misses the third after making the first two.
04:22Reeves misses the Knicks defensively they are sixteen and five in the last twenty one games and have the number
04:28one defense in the NBA during that stretch.
04:32Here's Towns defended by Aiton who is back after missing Friday night's game.
04:37Brunson on the pull up can't knock it down and rebounded by Doncic.
04:43He's third in assists number one in scoring averages eight rebounds per game.
04:50Doncic is the number one first quarter score in the league so he misses here on that three point attempt
04:56but gets it back after Aiton got the offensive rebound.
05:01Reeves knocks down that one he's got all five.
05:04And they need an aggressive Austin Reeves.
05:10Josh Hart through the lane and his mid range shot off target rebound Marcus Smart.
05:17Reeves averaging a career high twenty four points per game step back three short and Towns the number two rebounder
05:24in the league.
05:25Got the board nice job by Reeves deflecting the outlet pass as both he and Bridges hit the deck.
05:30Well if you're Deandre Aiton you have jobs to do and one of those is hit the glass hard on
05:35both ends.
05:36That extra opportunity and an exceptional pass from Luca means a wide open three.
05:48Got Doncic on Towns.
05:51Towns lost the ball as he tried to drive.
05:53Aiton couldn't handle it though out of bounds will stay with New York.
06:0218 games left for the Knicks.
06:04They have the fourth easiest remaining schedule.
06:06The Lakers have 19 games left.
06:10As the three won't go for Bridges batted out to Towns.
06:13He'll try it.
06:14And the Knicks struggling early on here 0 for 4 and 0 for 2 from three point range.
06:20And that's an area in the first meeting that the Knicks won.
06:22They buried the Lakers from three.
06:25Very proficient from the corner three.
06:27So a tough start there.
06:29Reeves trying to break down Brunson goes behind the back.
06:32Can't hit the mid-range jumper though.
06:36Hart crashing into Hachimura swatted away by Aiton.
06:40That's the kind of effort they want to see out of Deandre Aiton.
06:44It's got to be sustained right.
06:46We see it in pockets from Deandre Aiton.
06:49But Mark or excuse me Rui Hachimura there as well.
06:52So you love the effort that they're getting in defensive transition.
07:02Here's Brunson coming off a town screen.
07:04His three is off target.
07:06Last couple games even though the assists have been there.
07:09The shooting is not for Brunson.
07:11And an OB coming off a 34 point game.
07:13Aiton with a block.
07:14Harto cleans it up inside.
07:16Aiton very active but they give up a second chance bucket.
07:21I mean think about that.
07:23If you're going to get 30 minutes of that level of energy and attention
07:28from Deandre Aiton your ceiling rises.
07:31Donchett short.
07:33Towns rebounds.
07:34Outlet Brunson.
07:35Lakers get back as Brunson is leveled by Smart.
07:40That's the first foul on the Lakers.
07:42So the criticism of Deandre Aiton is that his attention and effort can wax and wane.
07:47But to start this basketball game boy he has done some terrific things.
07:53When you have that kind of body and athleticism even though they give up that second chance.
07:57You love what you've seen from Aiton out of the gates.
08:00Former number one overall pick by the Phoenix Suns.
08:04Back in 2018.
08:05Luka Doncic was the number three pick that year.
08:07The 33rd pick that year has the ball right now.
08:10Jalen Brunson.
08:13Towns.
08:13Attacking.
08:15Gives it up to Hart.
08:16And Hart gets it to fall over Doncic.
08:23Hart with all four for New York.
08:25Reeves has all five Laker points.
08:27Three minutes gone by.
08:29Step back.
08:29Doncic fires.
08:31Off the mark.
08:33Doncic 0 for 3 from the field to start the game.
08:37Runson's 0 for 2.
08:39Towns 0 for 2.
08:40He drives here.
08:42Wild shot.
08:44Lakers looking to push.
08:48And Doncic waiting for Aiton to come set a screen as he crosses half court.
08:53Doncic bump.
08:54And the basket no good but he will shoot two as Hart picks up the foul.
08:58The second for New York.
08:59Andre.
09:00DeAndre Aiton was very slow to come up the floor.
09:04Looks like he's just trying to catch his wind.
09:07Because you called it.
09:08They had to wait for him to come across the floor to get the screen.
09:12They want him to sprint the floor on both ends.
09:15He did it on defense.
09:16Now just got to do it on offense and get into the play.
09:19And Doncic at the line.
09:20He leads the league in free throw attempts.
09:23And second in free throws made per game.
09:27Trying to win his second scoring title in three years.
09:32This is what I'm talking about.
09:33Now he's given great effort.
09:35But you're in transition.
09:37And he is again.
09:38It looked like he was winded.
09:40And for JJ.
09:41Listen.
09:42Simple.
09:43You got four tasks.
09:44Run the ball.
09:46Run the floor extremely hard both ends.
09:47Set incredible screens.
09:49Make sure you're on point with the defense.
09:51And then his minutes will rise.
09:53Like.
09:54He's such an X factor.
09:56And that's exactly what Austin Reeves called him.
09:59Our X factor depending on the commitment he makes nightly.
10:04Here he is defending Towns.
10:06Done a nice job so far on Cat.
10:08Who has not scored.
10:09Neither has Brunson.
10:12Brunson with three to shoot.
10:13Has to kick it out.
10:14It's deflected by Doncic.
10:16Good possession defensively.
10:17One point three on the shot clock for the Knicks.
10:21New York has won four of its last five.
10:24Six of eight.
10:24Game two of a five game road trip for Mike Brown's team.
10:27They'll face the Clippers tomorrow night.
10:32And I know he finds Bridges turn and fire and hit the rim.
10:35And eight with the clear.
10:40Traylor.
10:40Traylor.
10:40Donchich.
10:41Hesitates.
10:42Launches.
10:43And hits a three.
10:47He had 22 points in the first quarter.
10:50The other night.
10:50It's the fifth time he's had 20 or more in the first quarter.
10:53That's the best in the NBA in 30 years.
10:55As Towns.
10:57Picks up the loose ball foul.
10:59You're talking about the good defense.
11:01So Aiton had to guard Jalen Brunson.
11:03But when you're getting good defense.
11:05You can get into your offense a little bit earlier.
11:08He takes that shot.
11:09A clean look for Luca with 17 ticks.
11:12In the NBA.
11:13Your highest field goal percentage is going to come in those first eight seconds.
11:17So so much of that is okay.
11:20Did we get a stop.
11:21And what was our pace.
11:23First field goal for Donchich.
11:25He's got four.
11:27Fighting off the screen with Ananobi chasing the lob to Aiton from Donchich.
11:31And a timeout by the Knicks.
11:35I mean folks if you're a Laker fan you're saying please DeAndre can we get this kind of effort all
11:43game every game.
11:44Because if you're a hard roller off the screen guess who's a pretty good lob target deliverer.
11:52NBA Sunday Showcase on ABC is presented by Popeyes.
11:57Love that.
11:58Lead athleticism.
11:59And a mind that can occasionally wander.
12:01But not at the start of this game.
12:03Blocking shots.
12:04Getting down in a stance guarding one of the best guards in the entire league.
12:08Carl Anthony Towns has to stop Luca.
12:11It makes the lob target open.
12:13And Mr. Aiton we want to see more of this.
12:16Doris when he was at Arizona Sean Miller had a special jersey he would give out for a hustle award.
12:22DeAndre Aiton wore that jersey almost every practice.
12:25Wow.
12:25So the question is if he did it in college why isn't he doing it consistently in the NBA.
12:322.3 rebounds in a block so far.
12:35Towns with a slam as Bridges finds him inside.
12:38The bucket felt big for New York and it was terrific execution coming out of the break.
12:46Here's Doncic.
12:47He has scored her assistant on nine of the eleven points for the Lakers.
12:51Reeves gets past Bridges.
12:54Swing.
12:55Hachimura starting for the injured James.
12:57Cans a three pointer.
12:59He is fifth in the league in three point shooting.
13:01Yeah he has really knocked it down.
13:03He's got such good size.
13:05So even on the close because of that size he's got great vision on the rim.
13:09Ananobi gets deep and a Laker foul.
13:15First free throws of the game for New York.
13:17New York Mets are a very capable offensive team.
13:20So a little screening action here by Carl Anthony Towns.
13:23It means that the help's got to come from the bottom.
13:25It's not in time and they get an easy bucket.
13:28And then you love the ball movement here and the efficient footwork of Rui Hachimura.
13:34Seven for his last nine from three.
13:37Donchich committed the foul and Ananobi at the line shooting too.
13:40As we look at our upcoming national TV schedule tonight.
13:43NBC and Peacock.
13:44Houston at the Spurs.
13:46Charlotte at Phoenix on Peacock tonight at 10.
13:48Peacock Monday.
13:49Oklahoma City host Denver.
13:51And the Knicks as we mentioned earlier are at the Clippers.
13:53Go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app for more.
13:58San Antonio just two back of Oklahoma City for the best record in the NBA
14:03with about 16 games to go for each team.
14:10Ananobi hits both free throws.
14:1134 points a season high in the win over Denver on Friday.
14:14Knicks back within six.
14:16Mid-range reads.
14:17Off the front rim.
14:18Towns with another rebound.
14:19His fourth.
14:21Brunson still has not scored.
14:24Five and a half minutes in.
14:25Coming off a nine point game.
14:27Just the third time for him under ten this season.
14:33Shot clock down to seven.
14:35Towns driving at the chest of Aiton.
14:37Has to power that one up.
14:39And it was knocked out of bounds.
14:41Touch last by Aiton.
14:42Look at that with the foul.
14:43Look at that boy.
14:48So we've talked about the Knicks improvement.
14:50Like you've got to be able to guard.
14:52And you see Aiton trying to contend with what is an elite driver
14:56in Carl Anthony Towns particularly going to his right hand.
14:59I think.
15:00Are they going to challenge this?
15:01J.J. Redick using his challenge in the middle of the first quarter.
15:04So must be convinced that it was touched last by the Knicks.
15:08Even though on the floor it was ruled off of DeAndre Aiton.
15:12Did Josh Hart touch it last?
15:15Aiton called a timeout to challenge the on-court ruling of New York possession.
15:19That play is under further review.
15:23Successful coaches challenge for J.J. Redick and the Lakers.
15:26Off the fingertips last of Josh Hart.
15:30So it is overturned and it is Laker ball.
15:36Lakers lead by six midway point of the first quarter.
15:41Laker.
15:43Luke Kennard on the floor.
15:45He checked in a couple of possessions before he last went to break.
15:49Here's Doncic with Hart on his hip.
15:51Stops just inside the elbow.
15:53He comes up short.
15:54He's one for five.
15:56Hard in transition.
15:57Diawara checking into the game.
15:59The rookie from France, 20 years of age.
16:02Landry Schammett who's had a great year for the Knicks also checking in.
16:07Brunson 0 for 2 from the floor.
16:10Shot clock at 8.
16:11Gets past.
16:12Doncic floats it up and heads off the window.
16:15And I like how they started the possession.
16:17You know, get him off sprinting to his left hand and then get to the matchup you want,
16:22which is Luka, and then work that.
16:25Brunson ninth in the league in scoring.
16:26Doncic leading the NBA in points per game.
16:29Now has six.
16:31And his shot making is just so good.
16:33And it really doesn't matter which part of the floor he's on.
16:42Hart, knifing through the lane.
16:44Kicks it out to Schammett with the timer down to 8.
16:47Another good half-court defensive possession for the Lakers.
16:51Can they hold up deep in the clock?
16:52A foul as Brunson tries to muscle that up.
16:55Don't think Redick would use another challenge.
16:58He's only got one left even though the Laker players want him to.
17:02So Brunson eventually ends up with the ball.
17:05And this one-on-one to beat is Luka Doncic.
17:07And he's thinking, okay, I'm attacking this because I know I can get by.
17:10And then Luka Doncic, if there's any kind of size differential,
17:14which typically there is, he's just so big and strong
17:17and in the best shape of his career.
17:20Five-time first-team All-NBA.
17:28And free throws for Brunson after the eight-and-foul.
17:37Time for today's DraftKings Sportsbook player pulse.
17:41Assists per game we'll look at for Brunson.
17:43Well, we talked about double digits the last two.
17:46I'm saying he's definitely over.
17:47And Luka, leading the league in scoring, definitely over.
17:52DraftKings the number one sportsbook for live betting.
17:54Use promo code SPLASH when you sign up.
17:57Three straight for Brunson with ten assists or more.
18:00He had six games all season prior of ten assists or more.
18:08One out of two at the line on that trip for Brunson.
18:11He has the last three points for the Knicks.
18:13They trail by five.
18:14Doncic working through a double-team, stopped his dribble.
18:18Here's Reeves who had five early points, nothing since.
18:22Shot clock down to four.
18:24Hachimura on the catch, one to shoot, gets it away, and connects.
18:28A two-pointer from Hachimura.
18:34Brunson off the bounce.
18:36No good.
18:37Reeves skies for the rebound.
18:41Kennard can't leave him open.
18:43No basket, offensive foul.
18:46Jackson Hayes clearing out space on the low block.
18:49Basket will not count.
18:51First foul on Hayes.
18:57Going to be bottom left side of your screen.
18:59Now a technical foul has been called.
19:02We're trying to see who they were pointing at.
19:04It was in the backcourt.
19:06Trey Maddox pointed down court.
19:08Was he pointing at Jackson Hayes or Doncic?
19:11Doncic was next to Hayes.
19:13Luka can't get one because if he does, it's number 16.
19:16It's a one-game suspension.
19:17We're being told it was on Hayes.
19:19They were very close to one another.
19:21It was hard to tell who Maddox was pointing at, but it is against Hayes.
19:24Well, he barked immediately on the foul call.
19:29But it was, to me, it was obvious how much physicality there was on the post.
19:43Brunson with four points.
19:45Knicks down six, nearing four minutes to go.
19:47And they're showing zone here.
19:49This is not a defense the Knicks have faced a ton of.
19:51And Landry Schammett can be a zone buster, folks.
19:54So they immediately go into the zone.
19:57The Knicks are the team that's faced the fewest zone.
20:00And Schammett's like, okay.
20:01A little simple screen, and I'm getting a jumper.
20:04Robinson knocks it away from Hayes.
20:06Will stay Laker ball.
20:09And it took a couple minutes for this to happen, and against the zone.
20:12It's easy to screen.
20:14Jackson Hayes hanging back, and Schammett saying,
20:16you're giving me a ton of space, and I am quite in rhythm.
20:20Was listed as questionable with a neck injury, but playing through the pain.
20:24Schammett, a career best, ten points per game, 41% three-point shooting.
20:29Doncic able to hit that one as he's leaning forward, trying to draw contact.
20:35Eight in the quarter for Doncic.
20:38Lakers back a five.
20:42Robinson setting the screen.
20:44Now to the corner, Hart.
20:46Gets past LaRavia.
20:48Schammett.
20:48Toe tap.
20:49Triple.
20:50No good that time.
20:51Doncic with the board.
20:55A double Luka as he brings it into the front court.
20:58And he fires, and is short on the three.
21:04Brunson hits Diawara, who drives all the way to the goal and scores.
21:08Diawara has entered the rotation, folks.
21:11He gives them such great effort on the defensive end.
21:14Look at the pressure he's applying.
21:16Bumps Doncic, who skips to Hachimura.
21:21Hachimura on the back down, on the smaller Hart.
21:24Leans in, great up and under move by Rui Hachimura.
21:27But, you know, from the time he's been in this uniform as LeBron enjoying that, the lift he gives them
21:35when he's in double digits, you can feel it.
21:39Starting for James, second straight game LeBron James has missed with that foot injury as Schammett gets to the basket
21:46and lays it home.
21:47It's the first time James has missed consecutive games since the beginning of the year when he set out the
21:52first 14 with sciatica.
21:55Day to day, as Malik Andrews reported at the top of the telecast, they hope to have him back Tuesday.
22:01Doncic draws Robinson, and some contact inside.
22:07Doncic thought he got the ball away in time, but no, the foul occurred before he was in the shooting
22:12motion, so no basket.
22:15So we mentioned Hachimura entering the rotation, and why?
22:20Well, Mike Brown's instruction is go make plays.
22:22How do you do that if you're him?
22:24Sprint the floor in transition, make yourself a target.
22:27But this, this is why he gets some leeway to make a play.
22:31He gives them incredible effort on the defensive end, and gonna stick in the face of Luka Doncic, able to
22:37close off the dead stop dribble.
22:39That is good defense.
22:40Second-round pick by the Clippers and traded on draft night to the Knicks.
22:45Foul is on Shamit, and now Ananobi knocks Doncic to the ground.
22:49Penalty situation, so Luka will go to the line.
22:51First on Ananobi.
22:54Ananobi's as good a defender as anybody in the NBA, but you can't make that mistake to put Doncic to
23:00the line.
23:01That's correct.
23:01And we talked about the various improvements.
23:03One area the Knicks have really stepped things up is physically, but this is a step too far.
23:08Like, you appreciate the physicality, O.G., but that is crossing a line.
23:16Now, Doncic, eight points, one of two at the line.
23:22He has lit up the Knicks over the course of his career, averaging almost 31 points per game.
23:27Only two players in NBA history have averaged more against the Knicks.
23:31Will Chamberlain and Michael Jordan.
23:35The Lakers will be featured in our NBA Saturday primetime game at ABC as they host Denver.
23:40Coverage starts with NBA tip-off 8 Eastern.
23:42After the game, Ernie, Shaq, Kenny, and Charles wrap up the night with Inside the NBA.
23:47Well, you have to hope that Jamal Murray's ankle responds quickly.
23:51The Nuggets have felt shaky for a bit.
23:54You just got Aaron Gordon back.
23:57Massive game for both teams.
23:59It feels like every game in the Western Conference is so weighty at this moment.
24:03They are tied right now, the Nuggets and Lakers, for fifth in the loss column
24:07as that goes through the hands of Diawara.
24:09Or, excuse me, Ananobi out of bounds.
24:11It'll be Laker ball.
24:14The Lakers and Denver played twice already.
24:16They've split those two.
24:18So the winner of that game Saturday earns the tiebreaker,
24:20which could be huge in the standings at the end of the year.
24:24Just over a month left in the regular season.
24:29Doncic the only player in double figures with ten.
24:32Dribbling through traffic and his lob off the mark.
24:35But a foul inside as Hayes got knocked off his spot in midair.
24:41Jalen Brunson commits the foul his first, so Hayes will go to the line.
24:48The Lakers are two back of Houston in the loss column for third,
24:52and they have two games at Houston coming up in the next couple of weeks.
24:56But Phoenix still hanging around.
24:58They do have injuries, but they've overcome injuries all year, the Suns have.
25:02The Lakers have been in the play in three times.
25:05Last year they made it to the playoffs,
25:07but then got beat as a three seed in the first round.
25:11There's Rob Palenka, the GM.
25:14We don't show you the top of the standings there,
25:16but it's Oklahoma City and San Antonio.
25:19And one thing no one is talking about is as brutal as the Western Conference has been,
25:24Oklahoma City has eight more wins in conference than the next closest team.
25:29Like anybody who's deluding themselves into thinking, you know, they're more vulnerable.
25:34I mean, you know, yes, San Antonio has beaten them,
25:37but I have great faith in the Oklahoma City Thunder.
25:41Donch has just picked up a second foul.
25:43Brunson will go to the line.
25:44Oklahoma City has won five in a row, beat Golden State last night on ABC.
25:53And Brunson at the line again where he's two for three.
26:14With Cleveland losing to Boston,
26:16the Knicks have a two game lead on the Cavs for the three spot in the east.
26:20New York trails Boston by two in the lost column for the two spot.
26:26And with Jason Tatum back,
26:30Celtics, they were dangerous before.
26:34Two pretty good wins since he came back.
26:38Donch has just passed through the hands of Shamit right to Kennard.
26:41And Kennard, a 50% three-point shooter, couldn't hit.
26:45Donch on the baseline, bumped, and he'll go back to the line and has some words.
26:50And a smile along with Jalen Brunson, teammates for four years in Dallas.
26:57I'll tell you this.
26:58Two tremendous players in terms of getting defenders off balance
27:03and getting themselves to the free throw lines.
27:06Right?
27:06You think about Shea Gildress Alexander, you think about Luka,
27:09you think about Jalen Brunson.
27:13Second foul on Brunson.
27:16And Doncic up to 11 points.
27:25It's just so good, former teammates.
27:29I love that.
27:30Together they advance to the Western Conference Finals in 2022 with the Mavericks.
27:35Then Brunson left for the Knicks.
27:37And a couple of years later, of course, Doncic traded to L.A.
27:44Five of six free throws for Doncic.
27:46He's got 12 in the Lakers' lead by seven, closing in on a minute remaining in the opening quarter.
27:51Now Brunson working on Doncic.
27:53Gets past him.
27:54The bank hung on the rim and fell off.
27:56Out of bounds to L.A.
28:03Brunson just one of five from the floor.
28:05Nine for 36 over the last two-plus games.
28:09They're seven for 20 and are still only down seven.
28:13Towns is one of five as well.
28:16Smart gets a good look.
28:18Can't hit the three.
28:20Ananobi with the board.
28:22Diawara quickly ahead to Shamit.
28:23Good pass hitting Shamit in stride.
28:28Brunson pulls it back out.
28:32Lakers communicating, rotating.
28:34Kennard trying to hang with Diawara.
28:36Shot clock down to seven.
28:37That hit the foot of Ananobi.
28:40Three to shoot.
28:41Ananobi in the lane.
28:42Lob in the slam by Robinson.
28:45Wow.
28:46That looked like a possession going absolutely nowhere.
28:50For OG to somehow command that basketball and make that kind of play is pretty tough.
28:56Patrick Ewing, recipient of many alley-oops in his Knick career.
29:02The bench for New York has given this crew a nice lift.
29:089-2, they're outscoring the Laker bench.
29:11Three-second difference in the game in shot clocks.
29:14Kennard left alone.
29:15The three is good.
29:19Playing his 14th game of the Lakers after being traded by the Hawks.
29:23He's the NBA's leader in three-point shooting.
29:27Brunson with six seconds left.
29:29They double force him to give it up.
29:31Now three seconds to go.
29:33Ananobi, wide open corner three.
29:35In and out.
29:36And the corner comes to an end.
29:39Donchich with 12.
29:41Brunson with six for the Knicks.
29:43And the Lakers lead after one.
29:45NBA Sunday Showcase will continue after these messages.
29:48And a word from our ABC stations.
29:54The Lakers Youth Foundation and receive a tax deduction.
29:57Visit the booth on the main concourse across from aisle 12 to place your bids.
30:02Jared Vanderbilt, Maxi Clebaugh.
30:12Welcome back to Crypto.com Arena.
30:14It's time for today's Access.
30:15It's presented by Samsung Galaxy.
30:17Here with Josh Hart.
30:18And Josh, the last time you faced the Lakers about a month ago,
30:21you guys had a lot of success from three.
30:23As you look to jumpstart your offense, how do you get that going, particularly the corner threes?
30:26We just have to be focused.
30:28Obviously, they're running a zone, so we've got to make sure we just get in the gap.
30:31There's going to be shots, but we've got to make sure we get in the gap,
30:33make the first domino fall, and then knock ourselves down.
30:36Luka Doncic is going to sit to start the second quarter.
30:38How do you take advantage of those minutes, particularly with no LeBron today?
30:41Yeah, obviously he's a great player, but we've got to make sure we win those minutes when he's off the
30:45court.
30:46So we've got to make sure we get stops, play fast.
30:48We put him on the free throw line too many times our first quarter,
30:50so we've got to cut the fouls down and just play our game.
30:53Josh, thank you. DB, Dave.
30:54Alright, Malika, 12 points for Doncic.
30:56And you saw Luka and other Lakers.
30:58They thought there should have been a foul called on Towns.
31:00They called it on Kleba for a block.
31:06J.J. Redick used a challenge earlier, was successful, but he wants to save that last challenge.
31:12I also think the Lakers may want it reviewed for a flagrant by Towns.
31:17You see the elbow make contact there, but...
31:20He's on his way to the cup though.
31:24I... no way.
31:25That's a foul.
31:27That's absolutely a foul.
31:28I wouldn't... I don't...
31:29Marcus Smart trying to say review, review.
31:33I don't know.
31:34To me, this is a guy who's an opportunity to go to the lane.
31:41But what's the holdup?
31:43I think there's some blood on the floor.
31:48Yeah, there's some blood on the floor.
31:50The left elbow...
31:53Of the...
31:56On the next side of the floor, and then Kleba had some blood as well.
32:00They got to get that to stop.
32:02This is not a non-contact sport.
32:06There is some contact here.
32:10And they Kleba pleading his case with James Williams saying, like,
32:16yeah, there's contact above the head.
32:17But he's... to me, he's just driving.
32:20Didn't seem to be an unnecessary extension of the arm by Towns to create contact or anything.
32:25Correct.
32:26I think this is adjudicated appropriately here.
32:30First trip to the line for Towns, who's just one of five from the floor.
32:33Brunson went one of five.
32:35Third straight game that Brunson's gone one of five from the field in the first quarter.
32:40He's not shot at well the last couple of games, Brunson.
32:44We've talked about high number of assists.
32:47He certainly seems to be...
32:49When teams are sending doubles or multiple guys at him, he's getting off the ball.
32:55Feels like he's making the right decisions.
32:58Checking with Malika.
32:59Dave, Jalen told me before the game that he's trying to be aggressive,
33:02and that doesn't always mean scoring.
33:04He said you can be aggressive by trying to keep defenses guessing
33:07and forcing them to make decisions.
33:09So he doesn't come into the game like today saying,
33:11I'm going to rack up points versus assists.
33:13The game dictates the version of his aggression,
33:15but he says that there's multiple different kinds here.
33:18Yeah, he told us, or Mike Brown told us,
33:19he's making the right play whether he's scoring or assisting.
33:22And Mike Brown also said, and this is the key point,
33:25because I asked him about trying to, if you're a point guard like Jalen,
33:28who's so skilled as an offensive player as a scorer,
33:31he said it's my job, not Jalen's, to maybe get him into movement off the ball,
33:36pin downs, et cetera, et cetera, so that he can get to his scoring game.
33:41Offensive foul in LaRavia.
33:42Towns on the turnaround, and it drops.
33:44Second basket for Carl Anthony Towns.
33:46Knicks back within four.
33:50Lakers led the entire first quarter.
33:54Led by eight after one.
33:56Here's Reeves, who had five early points, has not scored since.
33:59Jared Vanderbilt to Kennard.
34:01Shot clock down to eight.
34:05LaRavia on the move.
34:07Nice fake and score off the glass.
34:14LaRavia's first year with the Lakers had been with Memphis and Sacramento prior.
34:19Diawara to the corner, Ananobi rising for three.
34:21It's off the front rim.
34:22The Knicks are one of nine from three.
34:29Lakers are four of ten.
34:36Reeves with Jose Alvarado defending, and Reeves hit the back iron.
34:40Rebound Towns.
34:42Here comes Alvarado playing his 13th game as a Knick,
34:45traded by the Pelicans right before the deadline.
34:48Ananobi, nice move in the paint with a spin and hit.
34:50I like that he's attacking downhill, right?
34:53You touched on their struggles from three.
34:55Until you start to see the ball go in the basket, attack from there,
34:59because they've been so much more efficient in the paint today.
35:02They're outscoring the Lakers 16-8 in the lane.
35:05Kennard stripped by Ananobi.
35:10Numbers for the Knicks.
35:12Down four.
35:13Towns straight away.
35:15Three is off the front iron.
35:16Rebound by Bridges.
35:18Ananobi.
35:19And another miss from deep.
35:21One of 11 now.
35:25Reeves off the cleave of screen.
35:28Stops, pops in the lane, and it gets at the ball.
35:31But what do you notice about him today?
35:33Like, no LeBron understood.
35:35So much more aggressive, and it's something J.J. Redick has talked to him about.
35:39More opportunities because the king is over there, but they need him.
35:42With or without LeBron thinking school.
35:44Nice cut by Towns.
35:46It draws a foul.
35:47Although Reeves, or make that Laravia, appears to have gotten the worst of that.
35:53That's twice now when Towns drives that the defender is the one ailing.
35:59Let's watch Austin Reeves on the other end before this play, the immediate sequence.
36:04This guy is an elite driver.
36:05The numbers are so efficient.
36:08And he just pulls up quickly trying to make sure Carl Anthony Towns.
36:12But once he's get a little bit of space off that screen, look out.
36:17Boy, he looked like he was headed for an all-star season in October and November.
36:22Then he suffered the calf injury on Christmas.
36:24Ends up missing 22 games.
36:26Not eligible for any of the postseason awards, but it looked like he was going to have a breakout year.
36:32And it feels different for him since he's come back.
36:35Now, part of it is probably you've got to get over the mental hurdle of is my body right?
36:40But I said to JJ, like, how does he get back to that all-star level?
36:43Because it was unequivocal he was heading in that direction.
36:46And the first conversation JJ ever had with Austin Reeves, he told him, you will be an all-star.
36:52That's the kind of ability you have.
36:54And so JJ said to him, listen, I need you, when you're coming in transition or when you're off a
37:00screen,
37:01I need you thinking score.
37:03Right now you're thinking I'm going to set somebody up like you're trying to fit in,
37:07and I need you to make sure you're being assertive for yourself.
37:11Carl Anthony Towns now 4 of 4 at the line.
37:14Six points in the quarter.
37:16Eight on the day for Capp.
37:19Four-point game again.
37:22Second quarter, three minutes gone by here in Los Angeles.
37:25Alvarado knocks it away momentarily.
37:27Reeves gathers and scores on the floater.
37:31Nine points for Austin Reeves.
37:34Fifth-year pro undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2021.
37:41Ananobi, hand-fighting.
37:43Reeves knocks it away and out of bounds off of Ananobi.
37:52Lakers defense holding the Knicks to 36% shooting.
37:56L.A.'s 21st in defensive rating but playing much better right now.
38:03So the Knicks are challenging now the ruling on the floor of out of bounds off of Ananobi.
38:13O.J. putting his head down.
38:15His jumper's not going so he's attacking.
38:17It's a little stripped down steal but it does look like Mando.
38:26Kirk and Malik Andrews here in L.A.
38:29A successful Mike Brown challenge once again off of Jared Vanderbilt last.
38:34So both Brown and Redick have one challenge remaining.
38:38It'll be Knicks ball with 10 on the shot clock.
38:42And Mike Brown, best in the league, successful in 80% of coaches' challenges.
38:47Give the back bench a lot of credit.
38:49That's their job.
38:50Go-look pass by Alvarado was picked off by Kleba.
38:54Lakers can tend to sit in that zone.
38:56Now they will match up out of it.
38:58But the Knicks, the team that doesn't face a ton of it.
39:03Hachimura's three is good.
39:05Rui Hachimura four of four and two for two from behind the arc.
39:10Lakers have their largest lead at nine.
39:16Bridges driving in Kleba.
39:19And Alvarado will bring it out to Towns with Smart,
39:22former defensive player of the year on him.
39:24Great pass, Towns.
39:25But Bridges could not finish.
39:27He is 0 for 3.
39:29No points.
39:30Reeves on the other end.
39:31Fights off Shambon and scores.
39:33That's the guy they need.
39:34And I love his level of aggression.
39:36He's just putting his head down and saying,
39:38you can't stay in front.
39:42Lakers five of six in the quarter from the floor.
39:45Alvarado on the move.
39:46Floats it up short.
39:47And the one-hand hammer followed by Robinson.
39:56Two baskets, two slams for Robinson.
40:01Reeves on the move.
40:02Whips it to Smart.
40:03Extra.
40:04Corner.
40:05Vanderbilt's three is there.
40:08Wow, he's knocking down shots.
40:10Look out.
40:11But again, all of that generated off of Austin Reeves getting downhill.
40:1858% shooting for the Lakers.
40:20Playing without LeBron James today for the second straight game.
40:24Got here about four hours before tip-off.
40:28Was working out.
40:29Thought he was going to go.
40:30Game-time decision.
40:31Ended up not going because of a foot injury.
40:33Shot clock at three.
40:34Shamit.
40:35And he traveled trying to create some air space from Kleber.
40:39The Lakers have been excellent on both ends.
40:42And Austin Reeves looks like the guy pre-All-Star break.
40:45So you got the big.
40:47He said, all right, I'm going to attack the big.
40:48Get off the ball into Rui Hachimura.
40:51Score it.
40:52Okay?
40:53You don't stop the ball.
40:54I've got incredible handle and footwork.
40:57I get downhill.
40:57So he's doing a little bit of everything.
41:00Half the hockey assist on the last possession.
41:03Reeves double.
41:04Fires to the corner hitting Hachimura.
41:07Can't pay it off though.
41:08Missing the three.
41:13Vanderbilt pounding Alvarado.
41:15Alvarado usually does that to other players.
41:19And Vanderbilt gets the deflection.
41:21Alvarado tracks it down.
41:23Shot clock down to seven as they get to their offense.
41:27Alvarado deep three over Smart way off the mark.
41:30How about this defense?
41:35Smart in the lane.
41:36Good defense by Bridges.
41:38Vanderbilt keeps it alive though.
41:41Knicks are one of 12 from three.
41:43Lakers are six of 13.
41:45Kleber.
41:47Shot clock at six.
41:48Smart is fouled.
41:49Got it on the rim.
41:51And he'll go to the line as the Knicks pick up their first foul in the quarter.
41:55Could not be more impressed with the intensity of the defense of the Los Angeles Lakers.
41:59But back to Austin Reeves.
42:01How about this little wrap around the vision?
42:03This is the hockey assist I'm talking about.
42:06And then yeah.
42:06Okay.
42:08Pressure now.
42:09They're being more physical the last couple of possessions.
42:11Look at the angle to make that pass.
42:13Does he make it?
42:14No.
42:14But you put it right into the shooting pocket of a guy who, you know, missed a shot prior to
42:20that from three.
42:21He'll get a breather as Don just checks in.
42:23They're going to stagger their minutes right now.
42:24Love it.
42:25Love it.
42:25But how about the New York Knicks?
42:26The Lakers, a potent offensive team, has 33 points.
42:30And the Lakers defensively, that has been a problem all year.
42:3521st in efficiency.
42:3727th in opponents effective field goal percentage.
42:4029th in rim protection.
42:41I mean you could go down the list of where they have struggled defensively.
42:45But today they're holding the Knicks to 33.
42:47Really impressive.
42:48Knicks have just one basket in the last four minutes.
42:51And you touched on how good they've been this year.
42:53They're number three in the league in offensive rating.
42:5811-2 Laker run.
42:59They have their largest lead at 13, midway through the second quarter.
43:03Brunson back on the court.
43:04He's tripled.
43:06Fights out of there.
43:07And almost throws it away.
43:09Smart crashes into us.
43:10You all right, DB?
43:11All good.
43:12Our monitors aren't.
43:13But glad that you're all right.
43:18That just, the intensity.
43:20They are playing with the all-out effort.
43:23And not a surprise.
43:24Former defensive player of the year again.
43:26Sitting in this zone.
43:27Everybody's in the right possession.
43:29Everybody swarms the ball.
43:31Marcus just selling out to try to get a possession.
43:35Look at this guy.
43:36I mean it just.
43:39Bill Maher.
43:40Was that a shoulder, Bill, that you gave Smart there?
43:44A little extra there?
43:45He is a Knicks fan.
44:01But the boards are intact.
44:03That's all that matters.
44:03You're healthy and the boards are good.
44:05All our information here is still intact.
44:07Yes, yes.
44:08That's why you don't put open water bottles on the table.
44:10Analysts have done that before.
44:13Analysts.
44:13I think J.J.
44:14I think J.J. actually did that early on.
44:16Yeah.
44:16In his analyst career.
44:17And then somebody crashed into the table and he realized quickly one way to get a play-by-play
44:22guy upset.
44:24Put a lid on that water bottle or put it under the table.
44:27You guys do obsess about those game boards.
44:29There's no question.
44:30I mean they can steal my computer from my bag.
44:34You can take my clothes.
44:35Just don't take my board.
44:37This is what he's talking about, folks, right here.
44:40Every piece of information Dave Pash needs to call this game is on this.
44:44So they obsess about it for a reason.
44:46There's a lot of work represented there, Dave Pash.
44:48Helpless without it.
44:49Yeah.
44:51I'm the only one that can read it.
44:53Do we need to get the training staff on your hand there?
44:55Oh, he's got a little cut.
44:57Oh, my God.
44:58He got hit.
44:59It's already swollen.
45:00Okay, though, all right.
45:00He's a tough guy.
45:02He bent a little bit.
45:04He looked like an offensive lineman.
45:09So they continue to work on Marcus Smart.
45:15Flagrant foul penalty one on Marr.
45:19It has been a choppy game, has it not?
45:23A couple of reviews, a lot of stoppages.
45:29We have another doubleheader for you on ESPN on Wednesday
45:33with Cleveland at Orlando and Houston at Denver.
45:36It all starts with NBA countdown at 7 Eastern time.
45:39The Orlando Magic playing better.
45:41They've won three in a row.
45:42They've climbed into sixth now in the east,
45:45and that's a big one with Houston, Denver.
45:47Got the Lakers in there in Minnesota all fighting three through six in the west.
45:511.9 on the shot clock here for the Knicks.
45:54So you've got to execute brilliantly.
46:13Inbound to Brunson.
46:14They change the shot clock back to 14 since it was last touched by the Lakers.
46:21Shot clock at five.
46:22Brunson over Doncic.
46:24Cans a three.
46:28Just the second three for the Knicks,
46:30and the first by Brunson is 167th on the year.
46:37Doncic, Hachimora now.
46:41Line drive two won't go.
46:43Vanderbilt commits the foul going over the top,
46:45the third on the Lakers and the first on Vanderbilt.
46:48It's always just a matter of time with Jalen Brunson.
46:51I know he struggled last couple of games.
46:53He's just two for six, but twice he's had Doncic on him,
46:57and twice he has scored.
46:58Earlier it came off a drive.
47:00Now he's just using his footwork to back him down.
47:03And, of course, his patented celebration,
47:06which he's now got on some outerwear, I believe.
47:09Got to brand yourself well.
47:12Brunson's got nine.
47:14Towns with eight.
47:1512 for Doncic.
47:16Reeves 11 for the Lakers.
47:18Five minutes to go here in the second quarter.
47:21Knicks trying to get back to single digits.
47:23Brunson in the paint.
47:24Stolen by Doncic.
47:28And Doncic stops at the foul line.
47:31Smart in the corner.
47:33His three no good.
47:36Racing into the front court, Brunson.
47:41Lakers get back defensively.
47:45And an OB gets right past Smart all the way to the basket
47:49to make it an eight-point game.
47:50He's just so big and strong.
47:52I feel like his confidence with his handle on his drives
47:55is all of a sudden a little bit better.
48:00Donchich double.
48:03Here's Smart on the spot up.
48:04Three no good.
48:06Loose ball.
48:07Hart grabs it.
48:08Looks to run.
48:10Three on three.
48:10Hart charges in to Marcus Smart.
48:14Who was set.
48:15Offensive foul on Josh Hart.
48:17He's been a big part of what they've done defensively
48:20because he just plays so hard.
48:21Former Defensive Player of the Year.
48:23He knows Josh is going to come back to the strong right hand.
48:25takes it square in the chest.
48:29Second foul on Hart.
48:31And a Laker timeout.
48:33Smart still having some issues with that left hand
48:36that was injured when he crashed into the monitors
48:39in Bill Maher.
48:41That same Louisiana spice flavor y'all love about our chicken?
48:45Yeah, we did that to crispy Alaskan flounder
48:47and butterfly shrimp too.
48:48Both for $5.99.
48:50The seafood menu is back.
48:52Love that seafood from Popeyes.
48:57Welcome back to Crypto.com Arena.
48:59They're competitors now matching minutes.
49:01But Luka and Jalen Brunson,
49:02they were part of the same draft class in 2018.
49:05They spent four years together in Dallas as teammates,
49:08including going to the 2022 Western Finals.
49:10Now, Luka does own the head-to-head,
49:12but these two have remained close.
49:14When Jalen left for the Knicks in free agency in 2022,
49:18he actually tried to tell Luka Doncic first.
49:20But Luka was playing in international competition.
49:22So he went back to his phone afterwards and had quite a few missed calls.
49:26And then fast forward when Luka was traded,
49:28Jalen told me that he was pretty shocked.
49:30He waited three days to text him because he thought, like most of us,
49:34that Luka would be a part of the Dallas Mavericks for life.
49:37But these two, they still grab dinners.
49:39They remained incredibly close, including dinner in New York after their last meeting.
49:43The only question, DB and Dave, is who picks up the bill?
49:47Well, Doncic has the big, big money,
49:49and they both obviously have incredibly rich contracts.
49:54As Doncic hasn't scored yet on the quarter, finds Kennard, and he misses from three.
49:59He's missed twice.
50:00That's rare for him.
50:01And out of bounds is Achimura, Nick Ball.
50:04As much as the Knicks have struggled shooting, and they're three for 15 on any shot outside the paint,
50:0910 for 19 in, look at where they stand.
50:12Like, and give them credit.
50:14We've been talking about both teams' defense.
50:16Both teams are playing very hard on the defensive end.
50:20Since both Brunson and Doncic came back into the game, it's a 5-0 Nick run.
50:2450 move by Towns to avoid charging into a defender.
50:28Loose ball, cleaned up by Brunson, shot clock at 2.
50:32Hart has to put it up, and blocked by Aiton, his second rejection.
50:37Look at Doncic goes down.
50:38Might have been friendly fire from Aiton on the follow-through.
50:43Aiton closing very hard, understanding where the shot clock was.
50:49It actually looked like, accidentally, the knee of Hart.
50:56And Doncic, I feel that one for a while.
51:04Eight-point game.
51:06Lakers led by as many as 13.
51:08Three and a half to go.
51:09Achimura short on the triple trot.
51:11And all of a sudden, the three ball for the Lakers start to abandon him.
51:16They're two for seven in the quarter from three.
51:18Brunson spins, puts up the shot.
51:21It's almost an air ball and cleared by Doncic.
51:28Doncic spinning, can't get the shot away against an excellent defender in Bridgetts.
51:32Long pass, intercepted Hart, ahead to Ananobi, and he'll soar for the slam.
51:37And if you want to know why the Knicks are in this basketball game,
51:41I mean, give them great credit, playing through really tough struggles.
51:45And it feels like forever since the Lakers have had a bucket.
51:48Seven-nothing run.
51:50It's been four and a half minutes for the Lakers.
51:52They don't get one there, but Reeves is fouled.
51:54And he'll shoot two.
51:57But good defense is going to lead to a turnover.
52:00And then that's going to put you in transition, right?
52:02Just a good pressure on the ball leads to an easy opportunity.
52:07O.G. putting it down.
52:09I love this.
52:10I love that the Knicks, you're a championship-caliber team,
52:13and you don't have your best stuff offensively.
52:16It doesn't matter.
52:17You've got to continue to play and to work.
52:20And if you want to know why the Knicks believe their championship calories,
52:23because Mike Brown changed some of the defense.
52:26But the bottom line is they're more engaged.
52:29They're more invested.
52:30They continue to give multiple efforts.
52:33Now, did they do some tweaks defensively?
52:34Yes.
52:35But a lot of this is about commitment and engagement.
52:38Hart picks up his third foul.
52:39He also said physicality has skyrocketed, said Alvarado's been a big reason why.
52:44But he cited Carl Anthony Towns and Mikkel Bridges,
52:47saying both of their level of physicality has increased during this stretch
52:51where the Knicks are 16-5 over a 21-game span.
52:56Two-and-a-half to go in the half.
52:58Towns driving into traffic, stops, leans in, and hits it off the glass,
53:04finishing through contact.
53:07He's the first Knick in double figures with ten points.
53:12Doncic turns it over again.
53:14Shaman, great bounce ahead, Bridges.
53:19The Lakers thought Towns touched down the rim.
53:22It doesn't matter.
53:23No basket, and it's Laker ball.
53:25Two-minute mark.
53:27Reeves driving and draws another foul.
53:30He's four of five at the line, and back to the stripe he goes
53:33with 13 points to lead all scores today.
53:36Keep talking about the Knicks paint points.
53:38This guy is a dynamic right-hand driver.
53:42Ayton closes because he knows he's a shooter.
53:45Has to play through some contact.
53:47Tough, too, by Carl.
53:49Both Bridges and Hart now with three personal fouls.
53:52So Dior is going to check in for Bridges here.
54:00Fourteen points now for Austin Reeves.
54:03We touched on earlier about Reeves' numbers before the injury.
54:07In October he averaged 32.
54:09November averaged 27.
54:11Remember LeBron James wasn't there.
54:13Did not play the first 14 games.
54:14He had to step up and did, and is doing it again today here with no James.
54:19Meanwhile, Luka Doncic keeps holding his left hand and shaking it.
54:23He's in some pain in the backcourt.
54:25I wonder if it happened on that last play where he tried to split the double.
54:29He's not lacking for attention because the Knicks have repeatedly doubled him.
54:35Lakers have six turnovers this quarter.
54:38They have six baskets this quarter.
54:40And Anobi's three is gone.
54:44First one today for OG Ananobi.
54:47One for four.
54:51Down to five again with a minute 35 to go in the half.
54:56Doncic still looking for his first points of the quarter.
54:58He had 12 in the first.
55:02Here's Kennard driving, stopping at the elbow.
55:05Shot clock at four.
55:07Doncic from way out and rebounded by Schammett.
55:10But they have had to scramble, right?
55:12The Knicks, because you're sending that extra defender at Luka, they have had to cover some ground to challenge shots.
55:19And boy, I love the amount of effort it's required and they have committed to.
55:24Corner three no good from Schammett.
55:26Brunson had eight on him and gave up the ball.
55:29One minute remaining.
55:33And a foul called on Doncic.
55:35That is three on Luka Doncic.
55:38Well, the guy who's bringing a tremendous amount of toughness and physicality all day.
55:43And we haven't mentioned of Schammett.
55:44And he has been on some switches guarding Schammett.
55:48And I think this is a little bit of Luka frustration.
55:51Like he's just meeting them one-on-one and you see he's getting frustrated.
55:55Because Schammett's been in his grill.
55:56When he's had the one-on-one assignment, he's been up in his chest and physical.
56:01And a little bit of frustration there from Luka.
56:03And obviously Doncic has to be careful with how he reacts with the officials.
56:07At 15 technicals, if he gets another one, it's an automatic one-game suspension.
56:11The Lakers don't have a field goal in six and a half minutes.
56:14Yet they're still up in this game.
56:16A steal by Doncic.
56:18He's got two here in the quarter.
56:19Gets bumped by Diawara.
56:21Got the shot up and a wedgie.
56:25So Doncic will go to the line for two free throws.
56:29As Diawara picks up his second personal foul.
56:36Doncic in with two steals.
56:38He has three assists.
56:40Also three turnovers, 12 points.
56:43Just great anticipation.
56:45He's close enough to the passing lane.
56:47Just jumps into it.
56:49And as soon as Diawara gets on his hip, it's over.
56:57In the first meeting that Malik was talking about between the Knicks and Lakers,
57:00Doncic in a losing cause at 30 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists.
57:05He's averaging 33 points, which leads the lead.
57:08Right?
57:09And the better run.
57:10With that.
57:10And that's the point.
