00:00with something to savour.
00:01They made the change that many had been calling for for some time.
00:05They brought in Terry Alderman
00:06and they gave Peter Taylor a chance to prove himself in the West Indies.
00:11Out went Bruce Reid,
00:12who had not looked like the series winner that Australia had hoped for
00:16and the out of sorts Stephen Waugh.
00:18Andy Roberts has been in control of the preparation of this pitch
00:21for the last couple of seasons. Has that made any difference?
00:24I think so. It has made a very big difference.
00:26Last year against England, it had a lot more life on Pearce than it had.
00:30in previous years.
00:31Heads.
00:34Heads to death.
00:34We're going to have a bat first.
00:36I thought you would.
00:38It looks pretty good, doesn't it?
00:39It does look an excellent wicket.
00:41Most of the tracks we played on have been pretty good,
00:43so hopefully we can make best use of it.
00:45And what about the selection?
00:46What was the thinking with the changes?
00:48Well, we just had a look at the track yesterday
00:50and we thought that it might take a spin later on the game,
00:54so basically we need a spinner to make use of it
00:57and hopefully that's the case.
00:59And hopefully the top six batsmen can do the job.
01:01So, you know, bringing Terry Aldam in for Bruce Reid,
01:03who's been a bit out of sorts on this tour,
01:06and hopefully Terry can find some of that old magic.
01:09It's been a good batter micket over the years, you know,
01:10and I'm quite certain that it would be a good game in a sense
01:14where there may be a couple of batters, you know,
01:16who may get stuck in and get some big ones.
01:19But there's always a little bit of bunks as well, too, you know,
01:22but it looks a little bit drier than normal,
01:24so we only can hope for the best in it.
01:25And a typical Antigua Test atmosphere
01:29with the disco, Chickie's disco,
01:33in the corner of one of the stands,
01:38blaring out,
01:40and they're blaring out to rally around the West Indies.
01:44There's Chickie in the front.
01:50They'll have to hurry here,
01:53but Haynes didn't pick the ball up cleanly
01:55so that Mark Taylor gets off the mark
01:57with a quick single into the offside.
02:04Looks very much to me as if the Australian batsmen
02:07have come out in a very positive move this morning.
02:09That's a boundary hitting through the line of the ball by Marsh.
02:13Moving the score on to 10,
02:15but they've looked positive.
02:20So Richards takes the catch.
02:23Marsh goes, caught by Richards off Patterson.
02:27And the Antigua Recreation Ground has caused to explode
02:31as Australia lose their first cricket for 10.
02:39Goes in a field for a catch.
02:40He's gone.
02:42Ampar Bucknor makes the signal
02:44and David Boone comes off
02:47attempting the hook shot for the first time
02:49under Australia in real trouble here
02:52at 2 for 13.
02:57It's a no ball
02:58and Mark Taylor
02:59besides the up and under
03:00is the best way to handle the bounce.
03:06Good shot.
03:08Beautiful stroke.
03:11Just played to perfection by Alan Borda.
03:19Quite sensible.
03:21The first moment of preservation
03:22should be for the batsman to protect his stumps.
03:26Borda had no idea where that had gone
03:27once it hit him on the back of the helmet.
03:32Oh, that's a great shot.
03:34Tremendous back foot shot by Mark Taylor
03:35and it goes all the way for four.
03:38Perhaps the shot of the day so far.
03:46Very good shot.
03:51Now it's only one run from the 100 partnership
03:54and another 50 for Mark Taylor.
04:04Very positive approach
04:06by Alan Borda.
04:15He hasn't missed an opportunity
04:18to pull a hook.
04:19Alan Borda gets his first half century
04:21of the series.
04:29Well, Lumpard Barker has given him
04:32looking for the sweep.
04:34Look to see
04:36very carefully
04:37appeal from Dujon
04:38and Hooper has his 12th best wicket
04:41with a score at 3 for 129.
04:44Dean Jones certainly not having
04:45a happy time of it in this series.
04:52Boundary for Dean Jones
05:01and that's well hit
05:02right out of the ground.
05:13And a big shout
05:14from Geoffrey Dujon
05:16and once again
05:17Hooper has got the breakthrough.
05:19He got a double breakthrough
05:20at the Kensington Oval
05:22when he got Jones
05:22and Mark Waugh.
05:24This time
05:24he's got rid of the two left-handers
05:26Mark Taylor
05:27and Alan Borda.
05:33Mark Waugh
05:34comes in
05:35at the fall
05:35of the fourth wicket
05:42Nicely timed
05:51He's timed that one
05:52a little bit better
06:04There's one of the runs
06:05that he needs
06:05Patrick Patterson
06:06moves very quickly
06:07he's coming back
06:08for the second
06:09and there it is
06:093,000 runs
06:10in test cricket
06:11for Dean Jones
06:19and Dean Jones
06:20gets his half century
06:25Very good effort indeed
06:30And Mark Waugh
06:31going straight
06:34and it's called 6
06:35hitting the
06:35sideboard on the fall
06:38but the
06:38board is in front of
06:40the boundary board
06:41is in front of
06:42the sideboard
06:47Gordon Greenidge
06:48is out at mid-wicket
06:49but no chance
06:50of stopping that one
06:52and that brings up
06:5354 Mark Waugh
07:00Man at long on
07:01but it's going to
07:02clear him
07:02Malcolm Marshall
07:04is the man back there
07:05and it takes a piece
07:06of the fencing
07:07with it
07:15beautiful cricket
07:17almost read that
07:18before it was
07:19bowled
07:20still I suppose
07:21that wasn't all that
07:21hard
07:21because Kirtley
07:22bowled nine
07:23bounces on the
07:23trot
07:32I don't think
07:32Mark Waugh
07:33will mind that
07:36another four runs
07:39Patrick Patterson
07:40will
07:40he's got to chase it
07:45he's got that away
07:46nicely
07:47and Mark Waugh
07:48has become the first
07:49Australian
07:50ever to hit a test
07:51century on this
07:51Antigua ground
07:54he goes now
07:55to 102
07:57previous high
07:58scores
07:58Alan Bordas

08:07well he's got him
08:09Dean Jones
08:10leg before
08:10wicket
08:11Marshall gets
08:12the wicket
08:12and a long
08:14partnership
08:14between the two
08:15of them
08:15has ended
08:16Jones
08:17leg before
08:18on Australia
08:19are five
08:20for 300

08:39at all
08:39Malcolm Marshall
08:41has taken
08:41the wicket
08:42that he was
08:42looking for
08:44Ian Healy
08:45attempting to
08:46hook
08:46he's got himself
08:47into trouble
08:48doing it before
08:48and he's done
08:49it again
08:50Taylor has
08:51strike to
08:52Kirtley Ambrose
08:54and he's there
08:55no longer
08:56Kirtley Ambrose
08:57has got one
08:58to go away
08:58from Taylor
08:59and outside
09:00edge
09:01Dujon
09:01takes the
09:03catch
09:04and it is
09:05seven
09:06for 381
09:11and Kirtley
09:12Ambrose
09:13has got him
09:13with the
09:13Yorker
09:14so the
09:15problems
09:16for the
09:16Australian
09:17tail
09:17continue
09:24that's got him
09:24right on the
09:25point of the
09:25elbow
09:26it seems to
09:27have missed
09:27the
09:28arm guard
09:30I'd say
09:31in fact
09:33just above
09:33the arm guard
09:37Craig McDermott
09:38just really
09:38turned his head
09:39away
09:39not much
09:40chance of
09:40hitting him
09:41when you're
09:41not looking at
09:42him
09:42the first
09:43time

11:54time
11:56oh
12:01dear
12:02me
12:20and
12:20there's another one
12:22yes that indeed is gone
12:25that was
12:26I reckon as plum as you'll find
12:30McDermott is in there
12:31again, he's a big improver
12:32Michael on this tour
12:344 for 46, McDermott now
12:36to bowl to Gus Loogie, Richard's just gone
12:39OBW
12:43Merv Hughes down at fine leg
12:46Desmond Haynes on the front foot as well
12:49there's no need to run for that
12:59very good shot there
13:00from Desmond Haynes
13:07he's gone with him
13:08to mid-wicket trying to go over the top
13:10Gus Loogie
13:12and straight into the grasp
13:14of the man with the shades
13:16Dean Jones holds the catch
13:18at mid-wicket, the West Indies have lost their fifth picket
13:20for 114
13:21new batsman is Jeffrey Dujon
13:23204 their first target
13:25to avoid the follow-on
13:28and very elegant too
13:29Dujon
13:31as he gets off the mark
13:33with a boundary
13:48in that deep square
13:50Peter Taylor had no idea where that was
13:56oh, he's got to be this top
14:00oh yes, yes
14:03I think it would have been a bit much
14:07even for McDermott's flesh and blood
14:10had he not got that
14:11he aimed for the Yorker again
14:13great delivery
14:14great delivery
14:15from Craig McDermott
14:15from West Indies
14:16just lost
14:17their seventh picket
14:19at 138
14:21yes, the Australians are now down to the tail
14:25West Indies in batting
14:27Malcolm Marshall
14:29receiving from Craig McDermott
14:35he's got trouble with McDermott
14:38it may be cramp
14:39because he called for water
14:41after he took Haynes's wicket
14:44cramp is the best it can be
14:49that's nicely hit by Malcolm Marshall
14:51going in front of square
14:58in the air
14:59and once again
15:00it's cleared the fence
15:16well, would you believe that?
15:18what a marvellous catch
15:23what an absolute blinder
15:25by that fielder, Dean Jones
15:307 for 186
15:34so often, Kirtley Ambrose
15:36has been the stopper
15:39for the Australian side
15:40he's come in and made runs
15:41a couple of times
15:42when they've been in trouble
15:43once when they were trying to avoid
15:45the follow-on in Trinidad
15:50Kirtley Ambrose has bowled
15:51a few bounces
15:52in the series
15:54particularly yesterday afternoon
15:56almost three overs in a row
15:57he's just found out
15:59what it's like to get one back
16:04one hand
16:05Ian Healy
16:07got it
16:09and
16:10Mark War has done it
16:11with a bouncer
16:13and it's eight down
16:15for 195
16:16204 needed
16:17to avoid the follow-on
16:25that's a very good straight drive
16:27by Courtney Walsh
16:28to raise that possibility
16:30of a follow-on
16:30it doesn't go quite all the way
16:33maybe because Mervview's got a touch-on to it
16:36but a superb shot
16:41good catch
16:42well taken at second slip
16:44Mark Taylor
16:46that was a good one
16:47taken by Mark Taylor
16:48at second slip
16:51Mervview's angling the ball
16:52across Kirtley Ambrose
16:55so it's nine down
16:56with the West Indies
16:57just having avoided
16:58the follow-on
17:02and that's the end of the innings
17:04for the West Indies
17:04Merv Hughes
17:05picks up his fourth wicket
17:07Patterson bold
17:09Patterson out for two
17:10leaves Courtney Walsh
17:1111
17:11and the West Indies
17:13all out for
17:14214
17:16a little bit concerned
17:18about the light
17:19here at the moment
17:23that's a good delivery
17:24from Kirtley Ambrose
17:25Geoffrey Marsh
17:26once again
17:28has left the bat out
17:29to dry
17:29outside off stump
17:30he's got the outside edge
17:32and the ball's gone through
17:33Geoffrey Dujon
17:34has taken the catch
17:36Geoffrey Marsh
17:37is not very happy
17:37about the light
17:39Ian Healy
17:40is the new batsman
17:41he has been sent in
17:42as the night watchman
17:47Australia one for six
17:48an overall lead
17:49of 195
17:53and Healy
17:54adds a four to it
17:55from the first ball
17:59way down there
18:00at deep backward square
18:03but not deep enough
18:08four runs
18:14he is absolutely
18:16marvellous
18:17that guy
18:19not only
18:20did he anticipate it
18:21and go with the ball
18:23but
18:24you could almost say
18:25never really
18:27looked like dropping it
18:28Ian Healy
18:29out
18:30for
18:31a very positive innings
18:33David Boone
18:34is the new batsman
18:35two for 49
18:41that's down
18:42a legitimate chance
18:45there
18:50scores for Mark Taylor
18:52in this series
18:5258
18:54and a duck
18:5515
18:5561
18:56to
18:5826
18:5876
18:58and
19:0059
19:01plus what he's got today
19:04and what he's got there
19:05to add to it
19:06that's the stroke
19:07we were talking about
19:08last over
19:08he picks up
19:09four from it
19:10and up comes the 100
19:11it's two for 101
19:16that won't be any problem
19:17for David Boone
19:25off the inside edge
19:27so Walsh finally
19:29gets his wicket
19:30he's had a lot of hard luck
19:32but Boone has dragged that one
19:34back into his stumps
19:35bull for 30
19:35and Australia are 3 for 142
19:38and Alan Borda
19:40comes in
19:40for his
19:42215
19:42test innings
19:43no one
19:44in the history of the game
19:45has had as many
19:46in test cricket
19:49that's in the air
19:50but it's safe
19:50over the top
19:51of the keeper's head
19:52very hard to set a feel
19:53for those sort of shots
19:54and that's four runs
19:59that's a very good delivery
20:01there from Courtney Walsh
20:02it's been a magnificent
20:03bowling performance
20:04from him this afternoon
20:05he's got a little bit
20:06of movement again
20:07from the wicket here
20:07this time getting
20:08the inside edge
20:09of Alan Borda's bat
20:10onto the stumps
20:12so he's bowled
20:13David Boone
20:13with the playing one on
20:14and now Alan Borda

21:21for 184
21:23Peter Taylor
21:24is the new batsman
21:26I went into the nets
21:27and just tried to run
21:28in and bowl
21:28how I would normally
21:29bowl in a match
21:30and practice
21:30keep practicing it
21:31because I had problems
21:32with the rhythm
21:33I had problems
21:33with the no ball
21:34once you're a fastball
21:35and you have those problems
21:36you're going to struggle
21:37and I was struggling a bit
21:38must have been nice
21:39to hit the stumps
21:40twice today
21:41and not hear the call
21:41of no ball
21:42was it
21:42definitely
21:47and there's the century
21:49for Mark Taylor
22:00a very good innings
22:01for Mark Taylor
22:02he has stood his ground
22:05while others
22:06have been tumbling
22:07around him
22:09that's very close
22:11that's out
22:12Peter Taylor
22:16LBW
22:17to Malcolm Marshall
22:18that's his 355th
22:19test wicket
22:20this is his 76th
22:22test match
22:22and he's now equal
22:23with Dennis Lilley
22:24who took 355
22:26test wickets
22:26in his 70 test matches
22:28and Australia
22:29has lost
22:29the 7th wicket
22:30with a score
22:31237
22:33the King Merv Hughes
22:36arrived at the crease
22:37to replace
22:38Peter Taylor
22:41and Merv Hughes
22:42is away
22:46and not even
22:47Viv Richards
22:49couldn't cut it off
22:50he must have got
22:50that off the meat
22:53he's got him
22:53this time
22:56and that was
22:56a very good catch
22:58at this stage
22:58of the day
22:59stretching away
23:00to his left hand side
23:02but Taylor has gone
23:04144 for Australia's
23:07left hand opener
23:08congratulations
23:09as he goes past
23:10Vivian Richards
23:15straight into his lap
23:17Courtney Walsh
23:18has the catch
23:19to add to his
23:20score wickets
23:20and Australia
23:22are 9 down
23:23for 265
23:29in the air
23:30brilliantly taken
23:31what a brilliant catch
23:33by Geoffrey Dujon
23:35Dujon
23:36now has taken
23:37250 catches
23:39in test cricket
23:39this is how he took
23:41the 250th
23:44that's a brilliant
23:45diving left handed
23:46catch
23:48454 the lead
23:49for Australia
23:51here is the first
23:52ball of this
23:53last over of the day
23:57runs for the West Indies
24:00Alan Border
24:01out of the fielder
24:09that's the end
24:10of the day's play
24:11one over
24:11survived by Greenwich
24:13he and Haynes
24:14march off
24:16the West Indies
24:17are two without loss
24:19on their way
24:20to get
24:22a massive
24:25455
24:26if they're to win
24:27this match
24:28Australia have
24:29two days to build them out
24:30and here's Terry Alderman
24:31now
24:32bowling the first over
24:33of this fourth morning
24:38and there's a good start
24:39for the West Indies
24:40runs from the very first ball
24:42been very proliferic
24:44scorers
24:46as opening batsmen
24:47over the years
24:48148 times
24:49now they've opened
24:51the batting
24:51for the West Indies
24:56it'll go all the way
24:59down to mid-wicket
25:00slightly uppish
25:02but four runs
25:03all the same
25:04and the West Indies
25:04are no-wicket
25:05for 26
25:10but Gordon doesn't
25:11always need
25:12half-volleys
25:13and that brings up
25:14the 50
25:21that was a fine shot
25:23it wasn't all that short
25:25the Greenwich
25:26was onto it
25:27in a flash
25:39what would you believe it
25:41the first wicket
25:42goes down
25:43pure chance
25:45or miss chance
25:51but the Westerners
25:53lose their first wicket
25:54unfortunately
25:54but
25:55it's one for 76
25:58Richie Richardson
25:59is the new batsman
26:02chase for Merv
26:04at St. John's
26:05recreation ground
26:19and Greenwich
26:20is out
26:20just to
26:22make certain
26:22that David Boone
26:23has hit the stumps
26:25on the full
26:26so
26:27the West Indies
26:28have lost
26:28two wickets this morning
26:29both of them run out
26:30a very good bit of
26:32fielding there
26:32by David Boone
26:34the West Indies
26:35two for 92
26:37Cooper
26:38has come out
26:39to join
26:39Richie Richardson
26:42almost off the toe
26:43of the bat
26:44but
26:45haven't got room
26:46to write all that
26:47in the scorecard
26:47it just goes down
26:48as a four
26:54what a brilliant
26:55piece of work
26:56again
26:59another super catch
27:01by Jones
27:02but low to the ground
27:04and away
27:04to Dean Jones
27:06Jones left
27:08oh that is a super catch
27:09marvelous piece of feeling
27:11now Richardson goes
27:12and the West Indies
27:13are free for 142
27:15Vivian Richards
27:16playing his first ball
27:18of what could be
27:21his last innings
27:22on this ground
27:26and that's another wicket
27:28to Alan Border
27:28the very prized wicket
27:30of Vivian Richards
27:32that puts Australia
27:33well on the road
27:34to victory
27:35four for 145
27:37Gus Logie
27:38is the new batsman
27:40coming out
27:40to replace his
27:41captain Vivian Richards
27:43so Taylor here
27:44just taking over
27:46from Alan Border
27:52well they've served up
27:54a couple of full tosses
27:55to Karl Hooper
27:57and he's put them away
27:58that really was a
27:59liberal one
28:04he's got him
28:05that's a good catch
28:07he tried to go over the top
28:09Karl Hooper
28:10and didn't quite make it
28:12five for 182
28:15oh that's very close
28:17and that's gone
28:17it's a great delivery
28:19from Craig McDermott
28:20cutting back sharply
28:21from just outside
28:22off stump
28:22Jeffrey Dujon
28:23well back on the stumps
28:25wasn't any hesitation
28:26from umpire Lloyd Barker
28:27that's the sixth wicket
28:29to fall in the West Indian
28:30second innings
28:31new batsman
28:33Malcolm Marshall
28:34he's there to replace
28:35Jeffrey Dujon
28:38that's up in the air
28:39but it's
28:41over Peter Taylor's head
28:43he won't be able
28:44to stop it
28:44going into the boundary
28:46Terry Alderman's
28:47come in for a little bit
28:48of rough treatment
28:49during this game
28:51just copying
28:51a little bit more
28:56short delivery
28:56but Malcolm Marshall
28:58able to find the gap
29:00short gully in there
29:01but he's evaded him
29:03four takes the West Indies
29:05along to six
29:05for 227
29:10well that guy
29:10in the red shirt
29:11has got another job
29:12to do
29:13six this time
29:24it's in the air
29:27and he's put it down
29:28and that could be
29:29crucial
29:34he's gone now
29:35out for 51
29:37Marshall leg before
29:39wicket
29:39Murfews gets his
29:40first deserving
29:41wicket of the day
29:42and the West Indies
29:44are seven
29:44for 271
29:45currently Ambrose
29:46comes on now
29:51well that's three
29:53run outs
29:54Greenwich
29:55Haynes
29:56and now Ambrose
29:57Logie
29:57Strands Ambrose
29:59undecided whether to
30:01take the single
30:01to get the strike
30:02West Indies lose
30:04this is your eighth
30:04wicket
30:05271 for eight
30:06now then
30:07Courtney Walsh
30:08takes the place
30:09of Courtney Ambrose
30:11Murfews is the
30:11bowler
30:12it's eight for 271
30:16oh what a
30:18oh dropped it
30:19he had it
30:21it jarred out
30:23and he grabbed at it
30:24again and knocked
30:25it away
30:29and that is out
30:31no need to worry
30:32no wonder Murf
30:32smiled
30:33he knew it was
30:34only delayed
30:34action
30:37and Australia
30:38one wicket away
30:39from what will be
30:40an excellent victory
30:41here in Antigua
30:42on this the fourth
30:43day
30:43that is nine
30:44for 271
30:45and Patrick Patterson
30:47the last batsman
30:48for the West Indies
30:49comes to the crease
30:54it's over the top
30:55and that's his 50
30:59and that's it
31:00the half centre
31:01for Gosling
31:02that's what he was
31:02chasing after
31:04the end of the over
31:05West Indies
31:06is now nine
31:07for 281
31:10that's another shout
31:11and he's given it
31:12and that's the end
31:12of the test match
31:13Australia has won
31:14an historic victory
31:16here at the
31:16recreation ground
31:17at St. John's
31:19Antigua
31:19the first time
31:20the West Indies
31:21have lost the test
31:22match on this ground
31:24Australia has won
31:25by 157 runs
31:27so it's a very
31:28comprehensive
31:29victory for the
31:31Australians here
31:32they lost the series
31:34in Barbados
31:34but a 2-1 result
31:36is certainly more
31:37palatable to them
31:38they've played some
31:39very positive cricket
31:40they've deserved
31:42the result
31:43they've done it
31:44a wonderful victory
31:46a sign that while
31:47they were not quite
31:48world champions
31:49they were still a
31:50force to be reckoned
31:51with
31:51and Mark Waugh
31:52confirmed that the
31:5390s will be his
31:54decade with a
31:55wonderful innings in
31:56Australia's first innings
31:58Waugh finished up on
31:59top of the batting
32:00average with 61.17
32:02and just to prove
32:03what a versatile
32:04cricket he is
32:05his name was on top
32:06of the bowling
32:07averages as well
32:08with only 8 wickets
32:09he didn't make
32:10anything like the
32:11contribution that
32:12Craig McDermott
32:13and Nerv Hughes
32:13did but with the
32:15other strike bowlers
32:16not featuring
32:16Waugh's contribution
32:18was a good one
32:18and the 7 wickets
32:20from Captain
32:20Allen Border
32:21were also invaluable
32:23when you wrap up
32:24the series
32:25a few things emerge
32:26undoubtedly Australia
32:28got the rough end
32:29of the umpiring
32:30decisions
32:30but Australia
32:31had problems
32:32of its own making
32:33it needed another
32:34bowler to finish
32:35with around 20 wickets
32:36Reid was the great
32:38hope but failed
32:39to live up to
32:40expectations
32:40Alderman didn't
32:42play in a test
32:43until Antigua
32:43many times McDermott
32:46broke through the
32:46West Indies top
32:47order but when he
32:48was tired there was
32:50no one to finish
32:51off the batting
32:51and in the bottom
32:53half of the order
32:54Gus Logie,
32:55Geoffrey Dujon,
32:56Kirtley Ambrose
32:57and Malcolm Marshall
32:58would do a quick
32:59renovation job
33:00and with the West
33:01Indies bowlers
33:02running hot
33:03most of the time
33:04that was enough
33:06nowhere was that
33:07more obvious
33:08than in Barbados
33:09McDermott and
33:10Merv Hughes
33:11bowled brilliantly
33:12and they actually
33:13reduced the West
33:14Indies to tatters
33:15if Australia
33:16had a world
33:18class spinner
33:18and another
33:19fast bowler
33:20to back up
33:21Hughes and McDermott
33:21they may well
33:23have been toasting
33:24themselves as
33:25world champions
33:26though the
33:27contribution of the
33:28tail was negligible
33:29and a constant
33:29source of irritation
33:31Australia's top
33:32water batsmen
33:32particularly Mark
33:33War and Mark
33:34Taylor had matched
33:35the West Indies
33:36Porter had made
33:37consistently solid
33:39contributions
33:39Boone and Jones
33:41had chipped in
33:42from time to time
33:42but whenever the
33:44front line Aussie
33:45bowlers had made
33:45the breakthrough
33:46they lacked the
33:47support to
33:48completely demolish
33:50and even demoralise
33:51the West Indies
33:52with the junior
33:53war and Taylor
33:54set to make their
33:55mark over the next
33:56decade and
33:57McDermott still very
33:58much a member of
33:58the younger brigade
33:59the future still
34:00looks bright
34:02the Frank Worrell
34:03trophy had stayed
34:04with the West Indies
34:05but with Richards
34:06Greenwich
34:07Haynes and Marshall
34:08another series
34:09closer to retirement
34:10the Calypso
34:11greats must know
34:13that their grip
34:14on it is
34:14tenuous
34:16Australia's campaign
34:17to win the next
34:18series ought to be
34:19helped by some
34:20much needed changes
34:21to the way the game
34:22is played
34:22the West Indies
34:24practice of slowing
34:25down the over rates
34:26has to be stamped
34:27out
34:28it ought to be a
34:29matter of concern
34:30also for the ICC
34:31that the West
34:32Indians couldn't
34:33afford to pay the
34:35Australians the
34:36contracted touring
34:37guarantee
34:37and something must
34:39also be done
34:40about the behaviour
34:41of the players
34:42for reasons best
34:44known to himself
34:45Desi Haynes
34:45stopped smiling
34:47and started
34:48sulking
34:48Verve when a
34:50player of his
34:51stature ought to
34:52know better
34:52made gratuitous
34:54remarks about
34:55Bob Simpson
34:56these winners
34:57wanted to be
34:58sneerers rather
34:59than grinners
35:00however
35:00regardless of
35:01their behaviour
35:02and their tactics
35:03they proved
35:04they were still
35:05the best in the
35:06world
35:06for the Australians
35:07their Everest
35:09is still to be
35:10climbed
35:10the manager series
35:12Richie Richardson
35:16what do you think
35:16has been the most
35:17important part of
35:18the West Indies
35:18victory
35:19well I think
35:20it's the way
35:21that we stuck
35:21together
35:22because at first
35:23I don't think
35:24maybe some of
35:25the spectators
35:25fully or collectively
35:27were behind us
35:28from the start
35:28but gradually
35:29we got them
35:31back in there
35:31what it took
35:32to convince them
35:33it's to win
35:34and we have done
35:35that but I hope
35:36that it doesn't
35:37take them this
35:38far
35:38a message for the
35:39supporters I hope
35:40that they may
35:42support from
35:42ball one
35:43not wait until
35:43we win a few
35:45and things like
35:45that to start
35:46coming and jumping
35:46on the bandwagon
35:47I don't want
35:48these people
35:48behind my wagon
35:49at all
35:49to Vivian Richards
35:50to Vivian Richards
35:53and West Indies
35:54the winner
35:55of the series
36:00is to win a
