00:12Welcome back everyone it's Charlie HBO is finishing Night of the Seven Kingdom season
00:17two right now we have our first look at the episodes it takes place in a completely new
00:21area of Westeros with a totally different group of characters HBO also released a couple
00:27promos hyping up the new season two characters so we will break it all down we'll also explain
00:31why it's gonna feel very different from season one too also because we're gonna get way more
00:36Blackfire rebellion flashbacks I know people been asking them to do a Blackfire rebellion
00:40TV show we actually get way more Blackfire rebellion during season two than we ever got
00:45during season one there's a lot of Blackfire rebellion that happens on this season and
00:50future seasons of Night of the Seven Kingdoms they literally live through and are involved
00:54in the subsequent Blackfire rebellions there are five total of them across the timeline
00:59they are releasing season two episodes in 2027 but they haven't said exactly when I believe
01:05it'll be early in the year pretty close to the same time season one episodes are released
01:09it will be six episodes and as far as Ira Parker the showrunner has said they're gonna stick
01:14with the six episodes per season for each season even after the Paramount Warner Brothers buyout
01:18finishes in the next couple of years and for those of you asking the actual buyout is it
01:23not really gonna affect the Game of Thrones universe all the prequels all the other shows
01:27that they're working on like House of the Dragon the Aegon's Conquest series that they're working
01:31on right now this seems like it's actually gonna be turned into a trilogy of movies David
01:35Ellison who is the person who's in charge of Paramount Skydance right now and is orchestrating
01:39this big buyout said that his favorite thing at HBO was Game of Thrones just in general
01:44so it sounds like he just wants them to make as much Game of Thrones as possible to the
01:49heat death of the universe good news for him HBO already planned to do that they were already
01:54in the process of doing that I cannot wait to be in my 90s still breaking down the latest
01:59season of Game of Thrones just starting with the biggest season two stuff first these first
02:04scenes it's meant to be in the reach between Standfast and Cold Boat here they are on the
02:09map just to give you an idea of where it is in Westeros is just north of Highgarden closer
02:14to the Westerlands in Casterly Rock what these scenes are depicting are the farmland in the
02:19river called the checky waters for the House Osgrave banner which is a checky lion as in
02:24checkered lion that flows through the area which is the source of the major problem in
02:28season two that Dunk and Egg have to mediate have to solve even you know the jump from season
02:33one to season two Dunk is anxious about his ability to fight to just keep up with these
02:37people and in season two he's thrust into we'll say light politics which of course you know now
02:43that he's you know mastered how to fight or you know gotten better at fighting you know he's never
02:47had to talk to a highborn lady before so there's always something new around the corridor there's
02:50always something for these human beings to interact with as they grow up in their careers the very
02:54cheeky way that Ira Parker describes season two comparing it to season one is that unlike season
03:00one where Dunk was fighting for his life and to become a knight the trial of seven season two is
03:04even more self-contained in terms of scope with fewer characters and Dunk and Egg get involved in some
03:10light politicking as he describes it where Dunk has to mediate a dispute between two neighboring realms
03:16before it escalates into a full-blown petty war like a smaller conflict the way that the trial of
03:21seven in season one was an extreme over escalation of a much smaller issue that could have been avoided
03:27violence could have been avoided leading to one of the most tragic things to happen to the Targaryen
03:31family during this part of the timeline R.I.P. Baelor Breakspear press F to pay respects
03:36one of the greatest kings who never was you can also see the dam that reroutes the river to the
03:42farmland that they're creating here season two is based on the sworn sword novella the title is a
03:48reference to Dunk becoming the sworn sword to Sir Eustace Osgrave he's being played by Peter Mullen he's
03:53awesome he's been in a billion different things but more recently you probably remember him as the
03:58dwarven king from rings of power during night of the seven kingdoms he controls hold fast which is a small
04:03fort here on the map you can see compared to house Osgrave territory that he controls and it's lady
04:09Rohan Weber who's being played by Lucy Boynton she's a redhead during the series even though she's a
04:14natural blonde who controls cold moat the larger area here next to hold fast in house Osgrave she's
04:21the one that creates the dam rerouting the river from Sir Eustace's land to her farmland which is how
04:26the main problem of season two begins at the very beginning of the season as you can see from the
04:31area
04:32in the reach here they're currently in the middle of a drought in this part of Westeros so the river
04:36is extremely valuable and necessary for growing enough food to keep the small folk in the area
04:40from starving to death after Osgrave has hired Dunk to just be a normal hedge knight working for him
04:46and just the daily activities of a night just taking care of his lands they discover his riverbed has
04:50mysteriously dried up and set Dunk to the task of figuring out what went on then learning that lady
04:56Rohan Weber yoinked it rerouting the water using a dam to water her farmland which leads to the
05:02conflict and we meet Sir Benis the Brown who's being played by Babu Sisay from Alien Earth he was
05:07great during that series if you haven't seen Alien Earth I did episode videos for all the episodes so
05:12I'll put a link in the description below because they're going to be doing season two so he will
05:16also be back during season two you know the story of John Henry and his 10 pound hammer Benis the
05:22Brown
05:22though is another hedge knight that Osgrave has hired to do what Dunk is doing Benis the Brown is
05:28meant to be an example of a less honorable version of a knight though compared to Dunk who's trying
05:32to be a very honorable knight and remembers Dunk and Sir Arlen when Dunk was much younger around
05:38Egg's age and used to torment him so he's a very cruel person in present day he also continues to
05:44torment Egg the way that he tormented Dunk when Dunk was younger because he doesn't know that Egg is
05:48secretly Aegon Targaryen a royal prince you remember at the end of season one there was that end credits
05:54scene with Makar yelling about egg running off again like where the hell is he gone to implying
05:58that he did not give his permission for egg to go with Dunk Ira Parker said that season two would
06:03deal
06:03with the consequences of that and I think the idea because in the books that was a little bit different
06:08the way this went down Makar eventually gives his permission to egg on the condition that he continue to
06:13shave his head to hide his identity so people don't notice his silver Targaryen hair and that he
06:18carry Makar's Targaryen sigil ring to prove that he is who he says he is that he is a Targaryen
06:24if he
06:24needs to also because of that other teaser at the end of season one even though the majority of season
06:29two is meant to take place in the reach in this area where like all these scenes are taking place
06:33they did film scenes in Dorne following up on the end credits teaser where egg says he's never been
06:39south of the Red Mountains and Dorne has great puppet shows which is a reference to a couple different
06:43things yes they do go to Dorne and they spend a couple of years there Ira Parker said they filmed
06:48the Dorne scenes in Spain because they needed way more arid dusty looking land we saw what Dorne looked
06:54like during the original Game of Thrones series this is where the tower of joy was during the big
06:58flashback scene to show Jon Snow's origin most of the time in Dorne are given to us through Dunk's
07:04memories of what they did in the past before the events of the present day of the actual series in
07:10the reach so my assumption is to just give us Dorne flashbacks for that when he references the puppet
07:15shows though that's a Tanzel reference she's still meant to be Dunk's best girl in the grand context
07:20like me the anime references but Lady Rohan Webber becomes kind of a new love interest for Dunk
07:25during season two there's also a time jump of two years between the end of season one and the beginning
07:30of season two so egg has gotten way bigger which is why he looks way taller during these behind the
07:35scenes
07:36this is going to be one of the outfits that he wears but he's still only meant to be about
07:4010 11 years
07:41old which works for the show because dexter soul Ansel is growing so fast normally little kids grow
07:46faster than their characters age season to season which is a big problem for the stranger things kids
07:51between season one and season five because it took them so long to make the series they were like
07:55full-grown adults like in their 20s by the time season five happened playing younger high school age characters
08:05so a lot of time shows that run for a long time have to recast the younger actors the reason
08:10why
08:10they don't have to do this for night of the seven kingdoms is because there are time jumps that are
08:15written between the stories so like it's actually part of the story that the characters get much
08:19older adventure to adventure by the time we get to like season five egg will be an older teenager so
08:25it'll make sense that dexter is way taller when he actually shows up on screen for example this is
08:30what egg looks like as a young man in the middle of his life like 30s 40s after his children
08:35been
08:35born his oldest son is named Duncan after his best friend Duncan they talk they call him little dunk
08:40for obvious reasons george r martin has written 10 more unpublished stories for Duncan egg that he gave
08:45to ira parker for them to adapt for future seasons after season three but we will see how they cover
08:51that up to the events of the tragedy of summer hall if they don't run to like 10 13 seasons
08:55if they want
08:56to condense it to like five to seven seasons they might just try to combine a couple different
09:00adventures later on hbo please don't do that please give us 10 to 13 seasons of dunk and egg at
09:06least
09:06there are a couple cameos from season one characters that died that do return like balor breakspear
09:12but it's during one of dunks nightmares when he's hallucinating them which is how they can come back
09:16even though they died in season one there are also a couple surprise season one characters who also die
09:22during the two-year time jump between seasons because of something called the great spring sickness
09:27which is like the game of thrones version of covid that wrecks westeros for a couple of years feels
09:32very familiar doesn't it almost too true to life you have to remember that george r martin wrote this
09:38book though in the early 2000s many many years before the actual real life pandemic but one of the other
09:44coolest things they do in season two is way more blackfire rebellion flashbacks and references
09:49because oz gray is an older man peter mullet look at him he's an older man in present day
09:54who fought for damon blackfire in the past the black dragon during the war a lot of the problems
10:00of season two that dunk gets involved in in present day are consequences of things that happen because
10:05of the blackfire rebellion so it is a much bigger part of the season than it was in season one
10:10where
10:10we only got light references and a couple flashbacks after the battle of redgrass field season two
10:15flashbacks are direct references to things that happen in the actual battle of redgrass field itself
10:20because oz gray fought in the battle near a lot of the major action major figures like damon blackfire
10:25with his final battle with gwayne corbray of the kingsguard what happened right after that with
10:30blood raven brendan rivers his raven's teeth archers bitter steel agor rivers in the rest of the battle
10:36the way it went down with balor and makar when they were younger because they were both heroes of the
10:40battle that egg features in his song that he sang in season one the hammer and the anvil that's the
10:46battle
10:46where they got those nicknames the only bad thing is that during season one ira parker made a big deal
10:56about how the budget of their show was half the budget of house of the dragon so i'm not expecting
11:01them to do a full size like episode long pitched battle of redgrass field for the first blackfire
11:07rebellion they would need a couple episodes to cover that if they want to do the actual battle itself
11:12what they'll probably do is just a couple of smaller focus scenes during the battle itself
11:16flashbacks to like damon blackfire and his armor maybe with the sword blackfire maybe a little blood
11:21raven cameo scene maybe agor rivers or younger balor younger makar cameo scene and that's it you just
11:27see like a small piece of the battlefield while it's all going down everybody post all your reactions
11:32in the comments below and let me know what you want them to do in future seasons of the show
11:36if there's
11:36like 13 total stories but they only go like seven to ten seasons they're going to be finishing the
11:42episodes pretty soon like dexter and peter claffey were at a recent double in comic-con talking about
11:48season two stuff so they are very close to being done we'll probably get an official teaser or a
11:53trailer by the end of this year the way they dropped the season one trailer late last year
11:57whatever they wind up releasing of course i will do videos for it we'll also get more footage even if
12:01it's not meant to be official footage so be sure to enable alerts for my channel so you don't miss
12:05any of that
12:07hbo also literally just confirmed that they're making a game of thrones movie in the next couple
12:11of years click here to learn about that and click here for all my knight of the seven kingdoms episodes
12:16thank you so much for watching and i'll see you guys in the next one
12:19you
12:21you
