00:03Connor. Yes. We hear you love languages and accents. Other than Russian, what's your favorite?
00:10Ooh, I'm kind of always switching between languages. Right now, I really want to learn
00:16Spanish. I'm from West Texas, so I've always heard Spanish. And living in LA, there's Spanish
00:21everywhere. So it doesn't feel very, like, exotic to me because I've heard it my whole life. But
00:27I think it's sexy. Spanish is muy sexy. Yes, I think Colombian Spanish, I think, is the
00:36sexiest language there is. I like the traditional Spain-Spanish. Spain-Spanish. Vamos a la playa
00:41de Barcelona. Barcelona. Con Javier Bader. Yeah. Ana de Armas. Ana de Armas. She's Cuban,
00:50right? She's Cuban. Okay. Pretty girl. Okay. This year marks 20 years since Brokeback Mountain.
00:56Are there any MM romance movies, shows, or books that have really stuck with you either
01:00growing up or recently? Well, I love Brokeback Mountain. It was one of the first things that
01:05you told me. Yeah. I love Keith Ledger plays Ennis. I still think it's his best work. I think
01:11that was one of the first pivotal ones when you have two leading men take on, you know,
01:17gay cowboys. It's pretty bold. But then, you know, you have Call Me By Your Name, Moonlight,
01:22I think with Barry Jenkins saying, bringing the art house to the hood is what he said.
01:27That was already just a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having, you know, he said he wanted
01:33to redefine masculinity with that movie, which I thought was so cool.
01:36Yeah. Call Me By Your Name, I think, was like pretty revolutionary. Yeah. Yeah. I was in high
01:40school at that time. And I remember that being the first thing that felt like it was really a part
01:46of the cultural zeitgeist. And it also handled, like, it also handled queer stories in a really
01:52cool way where it was so under the surface and it made it so human, you know, which I think
01:59also
01:59was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking these people in such a specific time and
02:05place and like letting them explore love. Right. What does SMUT mean to you?
02:14I'm going to try to make an acronym. SEXY. This is going to be in relation to Amber and Ice.
02:23SEXY. MAGIC. UNIVERSE.
02:31T.T.T.T.T.T.I.
02:33T, T, T, T.
02:36The tongue.
02:36The tongue.
02:39I have no idea.
02:40What did I say?
02:41Sexy, magic, universe.
02:46Um, titillating.
02:48Yeah.
02:49Yeah, we'll do that.
02:50Titillating.
02:51Oh, you very publicly shot your shot for Nightwang.
02:54Yeah.
02:55Which was extremely fun to watch.
02:57Have you been a DC fan?
02:59And what is it like to see fans
03:00instantly rally behind you,
03:02especially the ones that say you have the face the talent and the butt i will be completely honest
03:06i when i saw like some fan art of you as nightwing i was like blown away whoa like i
03:14i i mean you
03:16never know if that's going to come to fruition or not but yeah i see like someone did you in
03:21the comic book style i was like i see it right away wow yeah i would i would love to
03:26play him
03:26i love dc i love um i loved all like comic books that were true to the source material
03:37um and i think you know there are a lot of good filmmakers who like bring their own style
03:42to these you know beloved um um comics that i think it would be really great to work with them
03:49you know i'm not fully set on nightwing you know i'm open to other things um did you always want
03:55to be in like did is superheroes no always something that's been like i absolutely not
04:01it's just it's when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven so when like a guy like james gunn
04:07um or matt reeves you know comes to comics it i think that's what draws me um and
04:14and i heard james gunn is doing the the teen titans i know there's yeah but yeah james gunn
04:21he's in love with you true or false hudson is more like ilia in real life and connor is more
04:27like
04:27shane i think me and you are both like rose and i'm like svetlana i just said me and you
04:34are both
04:35like rose but i'm just i'm just parting ways that's so svetlana for you to say um i don't know
04:42i mean
04:42maybe i do feel like ilia i don't know i think that um i i'm i'm too sensitive or outwardly
04:50sensitive or don't have a lot of shame around emotion to be ilia i could be a little cocky
04:55like ilia yeah but beyond that it's like i think shane and ilia sort of share us you know a
05:02soulfulness
05:03that's kind of buried under all these you know walls and kind of um masks but i think i think
05:11underneath that what we both relate with both of them is you know the the heart and and their soul
05:16after wrapping heated rivalry you two got matching tattoos that say sex sales and if true how did
05:22that happen um i did i have a reason for coming up to vancouver i just want to come see
05:28yeah come
05:29hang out am i not good enough right come on yeah i just i don't know why for a second
05:33i was like
05:33i have something to do up there i have nothing to do in vancouver i was there so yeah i
05:39just went up
05:39to see um i just came up to see you we knew we wanted to get matching tattoos i hadn't
05:44gotten a
05:45tattoo in forever um and we were just shuffling through ideas and yeah i think you came up with
05:51sex but like we were both pitching ideas and then like one person would like them the other person
05:57wouldn't and then when you said sex sales i was like oh we were sold that's the first idea you've
06:01had that's good i think it's honestly my most well done tattoo as well so that feels good
06:05the front of my shin pull in here zoom in true or false you ate a pound of beef of
06:13ground beef a
06:14day while filming heated rivalry true um connor told me what his routine was and after i saw him
06:20in person um i asked him how he got to that size i thought he was taking illicit substances he
06:27wasn't
06:27he does it super clean sorry i mentioned illicit substances um but i have nothing to hide bring
06:34it on but he was so
06:37just like so i was like what are you eating freak i was like i'm eating
06:45and he just couldn't speak and he just kept doing that i was like i think that means ground
06:49beef um you're like that level of capability is what i need and then connor was actually the person
06:55who put me onto fiber because if you need to eat the protein you want to get you know ilia
07:00cheeks
07:01um and chest you need so much fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down and you go into cardiac
07:08arrest and you get carried out from your your little workout on a stretcher with some you know
07:13pumped up pecs and a shut down fucking you look good digestive system it's really unfortunate if it
07:19ends that way yeah yeah i actually um i'm gonna one-up this true or false i actually think that
07:25we ate more than a pound of beef yeah because a pound of beef only has i think 84 grams
07:29of protein
07:30and you need a solid 200 if you're going through size and shape so sometimes i can eat two pounds
07:37of ground beef a day plus like 10 eggs yeah and so many salads i was having so much salad
07:42because by
07:42the end i got like gained 10 pounds so like when i started shooting i was like and by the
07:47end i was
07:47like 10 pounds heavier and it was because of yeah yeah you i mean you're very inspiring i'm glad that
07:53we had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if you know we were
07:57going back to our 12 hour days and then the gym and then like going back to a residence like
08:01alone
08:01it's really it's nice that i got to be like hi son let's go to gym and we would go
08:08from a fucking 11
08:09hour day skating lesson and connor would go let's do legs and i and i looked him he's a madman
08:15that's how
08:15he has a butt he'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs now and i
08:21was like
08:21what are you saying i okay i knew i had a responsibility to the people he's america's ass
08:29and i i take that very seriously romance readers are famously passionate about book adaptations
08:36did you feel any pressure being bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making the
08:41characters your own it's good i think to go into a project accepting that you know people might be
08:48disappointed especially with something like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions
08:52they've visioned they've envisioned these characters they've drawn these characters they've gotten
08:56tattoos of these characters like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be
09:03disappointed all you can do is is read the material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and
09:12respect it show the respect show the dedication and just hope that people you know connect with
09:17it and love it and see that enthusiasm i think we both had that level of whether you want to
09:22call
09:22it nihilism or not like people might just hate this people might hate your casting or they might hate
09:27my casting i'm not going to expect anything more and uh i'm just going to do the best i can
09:33but you have really no metric of if people are going to be warm to your your take i really
09:39think at the
09:39end of the day all you can do is be really intentional give it a hundred and fifty percent
09:45yeah just go for it you know and luckily for us this worked out really freaking well
09:55hudson we have heard rumors about a very serious multi-step korean skincare routine can you break it
10:00down for us it's not that lengthy yeah i always made fun of you for it too because i like
10:05honestly
10:06i'm just kind of jealous because you have really good skin um but i was like yeah your skin routine
10:11and then it's actually not that long it's not that long it's okay i'm gonna tell you in the morning
10:16i use water to cleanse my face warm water and then i put on a glow toner but it's pretty
10:24dry it's not
10:25like i don't like when people have like dewy like if i see someone it looks like they just wore
10:28a face
10:29mask i'm like why are you out right now like go go wipe that off and then come talk to
10:33me because
10:33i won't right now um and then so my toner and then i'll put on um a serum and then
10:40sunscreen
10:41and then sometimes instead of a serum i put on a moisturizer and then my pm routine is an oil
10:47cleanser
10:48you know to get out these blackheads to get the the gunk out um and then i'll either use
10:53like a cerave normal ass cleanser or i'll use like a poor shrinking cleanser that's their new
10:59that's their new slogan survey normal ass cleanser i think that is i yeah i also and then like a
11:08poor shrink or a poor shrinking cleanser if that's my goal and then the same thing toner serum and then
11:14either a retinol or a salicylic acid and then i go to fucking sleep so i think everyone in the
11:21studio agrees that was a lot well i will also say i mean it makes sense you have flawless skin
11:27so
11:27and then when i take it off it just falls apart yeah he unhooks the he unhooks the clip back
11:34here
11:34in the back keeps it all up connor yes story yes do you have a favorite spicy scene from heated
11:41rivalry
11:41and a favorite from ember and ice what makes those stand out for you my favorite spicy scene from
11:46ember and ice is actually a scene where dane um is with two former lovers cassandra and elijah yep
11:57i need you to i need you to be here with me okay um dane has an interaction with uh
12:05two of his former
12:06lovers um after having been with finn for some time and uh yeah not to spoil but he he ends
12:15up
12:15realizing that what what really works for him isn't working for him anymore and it's kind of
12:21this moment of identity loss and you know what what pleases me isn't pleasing me the same i think
12:27that's really cool because it's also it's because it's cool because it's like sexy and spicy but it
12:31also is really revealing of the character and the connection and where he's at you know um and i think
12:37it's funny i think i remember dane saying something about um he's like he's like and then the next thing
12:43i did was i just had to come up with uh an excuse and then he's like he's like my
12:47friends i have bad
12:48news i have a lot from ember and ice but one is the lake scene where we kind of go
12:55in together and
12:56you kind of coax it out of me without spoiling too much i think that one's just you know a
13:02lot of times
13:02like the intimacy before intimacy i think it has more of a charge in a way that one really got
13:08me um
13:09frothing at the mouth and heated rivalry favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to
13:16film do you remember filming the stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our
13:21lips never come apart me and you were like do people do this do people i know it's always a
13:27fun
13:27balance right of like when you're filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming
13:33it's like how much of it is fun tv and then how much of it is like is like true
13:40sex because at the
13:41end of the day you know you do have in real life people do have those those like movie moments
13:46where
13:46you're like you know you're like yeah yeah yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we
13:50i've done that and then connor and i were like oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down
13:57then
13:57go upstairs naked and go sex now sex now i'm robot plug me in true or false hudson's roommates
14:07once kept a mooning tally of how many times he flashed them do you know how many times i know
14:14that
14:14you i've yeah remember this yep it's true it was one roommate um and i i mooned him 31 times
14:22what was
14:23his reaction when you moved him was he like hudson her poor name was chelsea i i i've talked with
14:31her and chelsea has been like you can say my name and i was like so i've since talked about
14:35this
14:35since double like sent uh double consent um and uh poor chelsea would just go i think her main
14:41reaction was like oh hudson and it made me so happy where where is chelsea now and i i developed
14:53different techniques over the years um she's chilling she's got a cat that's like hanging
14:58off her walls um but i would go and i would do like a drive-by at all these different
15:02techniques
15:02and then she would bring like other you know romantic interests home and then they're like
15:08what's this tally up on the board and they're like oh that's how many times hudson my roommate has
15:13mooned me and they were like would you just like kind of butt crack it or would you fold so
15:18i had one
15:18where i would get pants low like i would de-pants and she would be unassuming like maybe on her
15:24phone
15:24on the couch and i would run by and jump in the air so i was like a like like
15:31a like a literal moon
15:32a literal moon but in fast motion sometimes i would just do the like oh drop something before we leave
15:37bend and i'm right there gotcha oh god
15:41the airborne moon is crazy yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were
15:47gonna moon someone yeah a close friend chelsea is still my make it make it known that this is okay
15:52yep she got a do not moon people you don't know in places it's not okay hudson as an asian
16:01actor
16:01leading such a hugely popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for
16:06more people to see you in going forward hmm yeah i i want to i want to represent my my
16:14wajins out
16:15there you know um i've been declared do you know about this i'm declared the i think princess or prince
16:23of wajia me i mean i i sign off on it okay i think you he's the final stamp off
16:30guy for this so uh yeah
16:32i'm the i'm the ambassador of wajia as a fully as a completely caucasian yes but uh as as this
16:41um
16:41little wajian i am i hope to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know i'm happy to
16:50do roles that are you know race has something to to play in there but also i just want to
16:55be an actor
16:56and a lot of the times i just want to play parts where it's like
17:00i'm i'm just there and we don't need to go in my backstory or whatever it's just you know i'm
17:05playing with any other uh non person of color would play as well you know you're a person you
17:13want to be treated i'm a person love it baby on both heated rivalry and ember and ice you worked
17:19with an intimacy coordinator um why do you think that role matters on projects like this was there
17:23anything about the process that you think would surprise people wow i mean i think it's so um
17:30yeah that's a yeah that question is i mean it's so important i mean you you literally can't do things
17:39without that role um the thing that i think would shock people about the role of intimacy coordinating
17:44is it's not just about and this is what i learned from chayla originally and then also jamie doing this
17:50is it's not just about the actual safety the boundaries monitoring what's going on what that
17:57looks like making sure everyone's okay there's also actually a conjunction of an artistic edge
18:03where you are like jamie with this you know was also the voice that was reminding us this is how
18:10long
18:11it's been since this happened you know you need to i need to hear that shiver or that i need
18:16to hear
18:16those um i need to hear that feeling through your wings i need to see that come about i need
18:23to feel
18:23that pleasure in this way so it's not always technical even though that's what i feel like
18:27is brought up a lot there is also an artistic sensibility to that job and that really promotes
18:32that conversation absolutely bring in the first ginger ale this is so fun we have canada dry we have
18:41schweps we have can you can someone give me a rundown of the brand nope you're gonna try it and
18:46we're
18:47gonna go i don't i've only named two from memory well how about this i'll hold it so we don't
18:51we don't
18:52give away anything yeah that's my hudson that's my hudson
19:03that's not canada dry this is some shitty american ginger ale this is like schweps or like
19:11um yeah that's my guess it you said it's not canada dry why is it not canada dry yeah canada
19:16dry has got more ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and
19:23should
19:23be blindfolded you god we got you where is this imported from this this is this is no no way
19:36it
19:37says from frisco tex nope i don't i don't this is it changed it changed bring in ginger ale number
19:46two
19:47oh that is so embarrassing thank you so much this one was that one was canada dry what is this
19:55one
19:56um you're my baby drink more this is cough syrup this is this is yellow snow what is this a
20:13pissy
20:13pineapple but that's the brand hudson i have to guess the brand that buy yeah this is schweps
20:22this one is schweps
20:29i am so happy that i'm not the one tasting these because if i was getting them wrong
20:34i'd feel like an idiot no i'm kidding stupid no you're not i mean they they really set you up
20:44give
20:44me another one do you have more bring me bring in how many more bring in the last to me
20:51oh this one's a hard one thank you oh no
21:09that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer hudson
21:18what what what what there's a there's a secondary flavor
21:25do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no but do like
21:30an aromatics test
21:34go full song vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell it's
21:41ginger pear it's ginger yeah i'm gonna be honest he would never be able to understand you can't taste
21:48that flavor at all what blood orange good job you can't taste that at all you put food coloring in
21:55you didn't put no blood orange in there i will say i kind of like this one though that one's
22:00nice
22:00i like all of them but i guess the brand did i not you killed it when did you first
22:06realize you
22:06clicked and what are some of your favorite memories from working together um i would say our first
22:13facetime outside of a chemistry read because at that point i was always shane he was always
22:17ilia but then when we first met over facetime before we went to toronto um we had so many
22:25like so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked um art we liked and similar approaches to how
22:32we
22:32you know like to perform um that i immediately knew i think we clicked there and i think that's
22:39saying a lot because i think some of our our interests can be pretty niche the fact that there
22:43is overlap is amazing yeah and favorite memories i would say all our laughs on set being in misskoka
22:53was really beautiful there was a lot of like lounging around um you know it was just great my favorite
23:00memories of working with you are also the laughs what's what's like an inside joke that we just
23:06died over the whole time um we had a storm the set that was also with oh yeah i would
23:12always be
23:12like storm bus if we couldn't afford extras our idea was we would just like do like a cattle call
23:20we used to joke that like we um because we would have like airport scenes and stuff where there would
23:25be like you know for an airport you need like you need a bunch of people and we'd have like
23:29five people
23:29and i just imagined um i imagined jacob being like being like costumes get up there and everyone's
23:36like taking off their mics and he's like storm the set opening the garage and just like opening it up
23:43to
23:43the public how does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement i can't i honestly still cannot
23:51believe that that was someone's takeaway from this you know i like i think i look a little too shabby
23:58i'm
23:58i'm in the process of gaining weight you know now yeah i was when you look you look freaking
24:02fantastic well bring it back to me muchas gracias de nada corazón de melón
24:13um yeah i people people like our bodies let's just be honest about it
24:18people you know i care about my health i care about my fitness as do you um honestly watching
24:25the show is making us work out even more yeah so what drew you to doing a fey romanicy story
24:31and
24:32what was it about the script that hooked you for me it was exploring sensuality with with your voice
24:38you know that's the only tool you have and it kind of scared me a little bit and you know
24:44that there
24:44it was a really fun way to explore yourself it was fun it was actually fun and you know it's
24:50very
24:50demanding and it's well written i think in the booth the term winged hemingway came up you know
24:59fantastical heavy way because there was like war there's like this romance that's forbidden and it
25:06seems doomed uh in a lot of ways um and that was way heavier than i thought you know this
25:14would look
25:15like and it was really rewarding the story just moves really well too um it was just written really
25:21well uh as someone who you know is not a big reader i think something like this would be really
25:28appealing to me um just the way it it cycles through the feelings it cycles through the years and
25:35point of view yeah yeah i just think it's really like almost physically well done why do you think
25:40mm romance resonates so strongly with women right now yeah we've we've both talked about this and kind
25:48of been intrigued by it um there's so many reasons there's so many reasons and then even just women
25:53you know there are straight women there are trans women there are um gay women like queer women it's it's
26:00um well that feels like a giant term to be like i know exactly what um you know there's like
26:08the
26:08element of you can live vicariously and you can feel safe um like with women this is just one opinion
26:13that i had never even considered or thought of um that i saw that i think you're alluding to which
26:19is
26:19if you are female um and you are you are taken out of the equation there's and you're you're there's
26:30a spectatorship to that there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety
26:36you know like especially women um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially
26:41when it comes to sex and pleasure it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be lived
26:48out without um right female dynamic being yeah i i heard i heard someone online say a woman say that
26:55like when you see like a hetero um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced to
27:03sort
27:03of relate with the woman character um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and too and like
27:07imagination a lot of writers you know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of outdated
27:14tropes um old archetypes and i think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they can kind
27:20of relate with this person in one moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced into

31:04fine i'm invested in heated rivalry not because of their giant bouncy bullets but because it's a
31:11true yearner i'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing i think that's that's
31:17probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies you're
31:21enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes i have enjoyed people seeing that physical intimacy
31:28isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics
31:32and character and also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things
31:37jacob talks about this and that was one of the first things i think he brought to us
31:44to try and explain his vision which was you know when you read the scripts when you read the pages
31:49it
31:49can sound very sex heavy but to know that the sex really is just the foundation of their relationship
31:56and how they connect um yeah i think that is i think that i think that's kind of you know
32:01for the first
32:02years of their life that's how they communicate that's where their relationship builds and you know
32:07that's not usually how sex is used in media yeah yep meteor i need hudson williams to know that so
