00:00It's a Friday. It feels like unbeaten Friday. Why? Because you got Miami of Ohio tonight going for that unbeaten
00:05regular season against Ohio, but there's crazy, crazy topics out there. And sometimes you watch a live show like, hey,
00:11what are you guys talking about in the morning around 7 a.m.? There's nothing going on live. The WBC
00:15is absolutely live right now, which we're going to get to. On your right side, Joe Renier. It's welcoming Tom
00:19Vecchio, good friend of the program here. And also, as I hear it, Tommy, a little two-hour episode there
00:25this weekend here coming to you live for some Major League Baseball, World Baseball Classic updates.
00:29And information. Tommy, welcome in. Well, thanks for having me. Yeah, we have World Baseball Classic going on, not only
00:35now, but literally all day. We're going to baseball for 12-plus hours today. Japan is absolutely throttling Chinese-type
00:42pay up 13-0 right now. But we've got games throughout the rest of the day. Like I said, another
00:46episode this weekend. We've got the NHL trade deadline later this afternoon. A lot going on.
00:52Yeah, a lot going on. A lot of fun here, Tom. We updated the people when we started the show.
00:56Todd, he was on the hunt there for the cycle, already hitting a grand slam and filling everything in.
01:00The toughest one to get is the triple. But 13-0 Japan over Chinese-type pay.
01:04Let me start here, Tom, because we know in real time these lines are always on the move.
01:08But I am surprised by this. When we opened up talking about the WBC, it was always Team USA that
01:13was going to be the favorite.
01:14They're sitting out minus 110 price. But Japan was always in second in line.
01:18But the Dominican Republic, Tom, has taken a lot of money down to a plus 330 price as I'm looking
01:23at a fan doing Japan at a 4-1 price.
01:25I'll start here. Do you agree that the Dominicans here should be in line in second in the odds market
01:29here to win the WBC?
01:32You know, realistically, I think it's like a 2A, 2B between Japan and the Dominican Republic.
01:36Like, you know, I talked, you know, a week, week and a half ago with you guys.
01:39I think Venezuela is a good team as well. But, you know, Japan and Dominican Republic being that high of
01:44a price, I don't agree with.
01:45I think they should be a lot closer. I don't think USA should be minus 110 at a certain point.
01:49It really comes down to the pitching. And once that top-tier pitching for the U.S. isn't in the
01:52game,
01:52if they're not in the game for, you know, five, six innings, it's only going to be three or four,
01:56that's where the other teams really can show their power.
01:58And you have a lineup that has Soto and Vladdy and Tatis all back-to-back-to-back.
02:03Like, that's just as good as the Team USA lineup.
02:06So Dominican Republic taking that money does not surprise me.
02:09Yeah.
02:10Feels like, especially with Team Japan and Team USA, at least early on when they play these teams,
02:16that shouldn't even be on the field when it's time.
02:18Feels like a lot of overs are coming. Maybe team total's over.
02:22Are we going to the alternate markets? Are we laying three and a half runs?
02:27Like, I mean, there's got to be a way to capitalize on the disparity between the level of play here,
02:33no?
02:34There is. When you look at the run line for the USA game later tonight,
02:38and they're playing Brazil, it's nine and a half.
02:41We're at nine and a half runs.
02:43That's what you see as an in-game at Coors Field, right?
02:46So it's nine and a half.
02:47The total is 14 and a half.
02:49It is juiced minus 140 to the over.
02:51You know, I would like to say there's some amount of correlation.
02:54If USA is covering nine and a half, the game goes over 14 and a half.
02:59Frankly, I would rather play the 14 and a half, even though it's got the juice of minus 140.
03:02I think hopefully Brazil can get across, let's call it two runs, right?
03:06And then USA can do the rest of the heavy lift.
03:08Like, USA is going to have to do 90% of the work in this circumstance.
03:11And listen, any extra runs that Brazil can push across is obviously fantastic.
03:14But I'd rather take the over than lay the nine and a half.
03:17That's just me.
03:18Yeah, no, it's crazy.
03:20It's funny you did that because I was just going down some of the lines.
03:22I'm like, wow, two and a half, four and a half, three and a half.
03:25That's funny.
03:25Then you get down to USA tonight.
03:27Nine and a half runs.
03:28They have to win by 10 runs for you to cover.
03:30Hey, by the way, I bet USA.
03:31Yeah, easy win, eight nothing.
03:33I lost my bet.
03:34What are you talking about?
03:35They won by eight runs.
03:36Yeah, they had to win by 10 runs.
03:37And it's not even a win by 10 runs here plus 500.
03:41Win by 10 runs, minus 128.
03:43You're even getting juiced on the 10 runs here at this point as it goes through.
03:46But it's a lot of fun to see here and a lot of fun to show some of these guys
03:49away from their teams throughout spring training.
03:51March 25th, we'll get to the regular season.
03:53Come on, let's get some action together.
03:55The WBC is live right now.
03:58And I know most people out there saying, well, come on, man.
04:00I'm only going to care about team USA and they play.
04:02I get that.
04:03You have to wait a couple of days for that to happen.
04:04But in the meantime, Joe, 13 to nothing.
04:07Japan putting it on Chinese Taipei.
04:09And all I remember is growing up in the 80s watching the Little League World Series where Chinese Taipei would
04:13run rings around everybody here.
04:15But apparently, Joe, all those players are still the same age playing now in the WBC as they were supposed
04:2012-year-olds back in the day.
04:22Yeah, and they're all pretty good here.
04:25But again, for the love of everything, like stop pitching to Otani.
04:30Like just figure out a way to pitch around him, pitch under him, over him.
04:34Like do not pitch to Otani in this tournament.
04:37He will destroy mediocre pitching here in this.
04:42By the way, as Tom pointed out as well, this isn't just like, oh, watch Otani in Japan early in
04:46the morning.
04:47Like you got it all day long.
04:4811 o'clock game, 12 o'clock game, 1 o'clock game, 6 o'clock game, 7 o'clock game,
04:52and then Brazil and the United States.
04:53Is that tonight at 8 o'clock?
04:55Am I seeing that correctly?
04:57I don't mind if you wait until this weekend.
04:59So Brazil's the first game tonight.
05:01And then it's so Scoobo's not throwing in this game.
05:03They're going to hold him for Great Britain.
05:05Who's pitching tonight for the U.S.?
05:07Do we know that?
05:08That's a great question.
05:10Assad versus Anderson, whatever that means.
05:13Yes.
05:14Oh, no.
05:15I'm sorry.
05:15That's Mexico and the thing.
05:17Hold on one second.
05:18Let's see.
05:18That's what it says.
05:19I don't know who that is, Anderson for the Americans.
05:21Yeah.
05:21Yeah, that's a good question.
05:22Who is going to start here?
05:24Logan Webb, I think, is who's going.
05:27Yeah.
05:27Webb is going.
05:28My goodness, man.
05:29That nine and a half run line spread.
05:32Logan Webb.
05:32Nine and a half, man.
05:34Yes, that's not a misprint out there.
05:35That's not a point spread in the NFL.
05:37That's nine and a half is the run line for Team USA tonight at a minus 128 price here.
05:42Other news, Joe, around the WBC, the Astros announced that Jeremy Pena has been diagnosed
05:46with a fracture in the tip of his right ring finger, and we reevaluate in two weeks.
05:51The status for the WBC remains unclear.
05:53I'm telling you right now, these guys are so wild about playing for their countries, Joe.
05:57Like James Harden got out there after a broken wrist playing some basketball.
06:00You know he's going to want to play and be with his team.
06:04Yeah, you know it, too.
06:05I mean, some of these guys are just, they don't, it's, well, you wish the NBA would have
06:09this, you know what I mean, this kind of pride here that some of these guys that you're going
06:13to see in the WBC where, the heck with anything, if I'm going to play a game, I'm going to
06:18want
06:18to win it.
06:18So, but it's unfortunate for Pena.
06:21It's unfortunate for Houston, too.
06:23Let's hope it doesn't eat into any of the long-term regular season games.
06:28By the way, how about this story here?
06:30Andrew McCutcheon seems like he's been with every Major League Baseball team, even with the
06:33Philadelphia Phillies, but one of my more favorite teams in Major League Baseball, and here's
06:37the shame of it, because McCutcheon, the story is he's going to sign with the Rangers on a
06:40minor league deal.
06:41One of the better good guys in baseball, could be a great mentor, maybe he can still play
06:44a little bit.
06:45But when you go back as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, if you are one, you had one of the
06:49youngest, most athletic, fun teams that you could watch that made the playoffs, and they
06:54just said, we're not paying any of you, and you left out of town.
06:56They were so innovative at the time and so much fun to watch.
06:59Andrew McCutcheon was a big part of that, and a monster Major League Baseball player.
07:03Still kicking it with the Rangers here.
07:05That's a crazy story.
07:07You know, I thought the whole reason when he went back to Pittsburgh was just to finish
07:10his career there and be done with it, you know, all together, because they do, he's
07:16a great locker room guy, too, Donnie, right?
07:18So, you know, that's like having pool holes in the locker room, you know, a guy that's been
07:22there, done that.
07:24And kudos to the Rangers for getting him, but I'm shocked that Pittsburgh couldn't come
07:29to an agreement with him.
07:31Yeah, it's a shame there, but still, again, that guy's wanted in the locker room, a really
07:34good guy, and away you go for this one, Joe.
07:36I do want to spend a little bit of time here, USA and Brazil tonight here.
07:40That minus nine and a half is hilarious.
07:42The money line, Joe, minus 7,000.
07:44The total in this game, 14 and a half, which, you know, the heavy lifting is going to have
07:48to come from Team USA.
07:49But I'm trying to go around the different sports books, because you don't get it here
07:52on FanDuel, where I just see, like, okay, take the game lines and maybe a couple of player
07:56or batter, excuse me, pitcher props, but other outlets I'm looking at, like a Bet365, like
08:01they do have some things where it's like both teams have scored a certain amount of runs,
08:03lead after innings, and also the totals here.
08:05And they also have batter props.
08:07Let me see, home runs.
08:09You can bet home runs tonight.
08:10Aaron Judge, you get one, a plus 130, Schwarber, a plus 140.
08:14Now, when you put this in the regular season, usually those guys are plus 250, plus 300, but
08:18they might be getting, Joe, some meatballs tonight at the plate.
08:22You got to love it here, Donnie.
08:24You know what?
08:25I'm also thinking maybe we should just across the board go run in the first inning.
08:29Yes, let's just go the Yerfies all day, all tournament long.
08:33They'll score in the first.
08:34They'll score in the second.
08:35They'll score in the third.
08:37Those markets, too, are probably going to be really, really good here, because the hitting
08:42is apparently way ahead of the pitching so far.
08:45It is.
08:46And also, you can bet total bases, but I don't know if they're giving total bases to everybody.
08:51I see Roman Anthony, Bryce Terang, and Pete Crowe Armstrong here.
08:54Total bases, one, two, three, four, and five, as it lists you.
08:56So I'm pretty sure throughout the day, Joe, some of these markets might be updating, but
09:01it looks like it's probably going to be a blow, which means a lot of players will be playing.
09:04You might only get two at-bats or three at-bats max, as maybe four or five in a regular
09:08full game here.
09:09Good stuff on the way, hour number two next, guests, PME, who says no?
09:14Come on back.
09:15Let's flip it over, Joe.
09:16A lot of people watching live this morning and yesterday, the WBC is underway, USA versus
09:22Brazil tonight, 8 p.m. start, 98%, Joe.
09:29That's not an error that they're trading to win this game against Brazil.
09:32So if you say, you know what, I'm going to take that yes contract out, you'll get $2 into
09:37your back pocket.
09:38And I got to tell you, I could pay for maybe a half of a cup of coffee or a
09:42third a cup
09:42of coffee at Starbucks.
09:43Might not be too bad of a $2 discount, Joe.
09:46No.
09:47Yeah.
09:48Donnie, there are some awful markets around this game here.
09:52I looked at the Nerfee or the Yerfee, right?
09:55No run in the first inning or run in the first inning.
09:58Do you know that the yes to a run in the first inning is trading at minus 563?
10:05You know what the no is?
10:07Minus 185.
10:09Think about that market for you, Donnie.
10:12Whether we get a run or we don't get a run, we still have to wager it.
10:16We still got to lay down anywhere from $200 to $600 in order to make any money.
10:22Just, it's just crazy.
10:23This is one of those markets and games where you just go, congrats for winning Team USA.
10:28But they haven't played the game yet.
10:30Congrats for winning USA.
10:31I'll invest my money someplace else.
10:34I'll tell you what's interesting too, Joe.
10:36You take a look at the over 13 and a half run scored here, trading at 76%.
10:39They don't let you even slide it up.
10:41We were talking about the books here, like FanDuel, DraftKings, Bet365, listing it at 14 and a half.
10:45They only give you the 13 and a half.
10:46It would be interesting to see what that slider would be higher and higher.
10:49But also, you're basically just betting on Team USA at that point.
10:52So instead of saying to yourself, okay, USA wins by nine and a half runs,
10:55I would just slide it up to 11 and a half, take the yes on that point, and it's $117
10:59back.
11:01It's crazy.
11:01We are expecting almost two touchdowns to come just from Team USA here, Joe.
11:08It's, again, congratulations, Team USA, for beating Brazil.
11:12I know the game's on at 8 o'clock Eastern time, but again, congrats for beating them.
11:17Let's get that out of the way, Donnie.
