00:19On August 12, 2013, Tiffany Daniels told her supervisor that she wouldn't be able to come
00:26to work for a few days. And when her supervisor asked her why, she didn't give a clear answer,
00:31and then left. And from that point on, she was never seen again. So today, we are going to talk
00:37about Tiffany Daniels, who was 25 years old at the time of her disappearance, and how she vanished
00:43without a trace, remaining missing to this day. Starting from the very beginning, her full name
00:48was Tiffany Heaven Daniels. She was born on March 11, 1988, in Dallas, Texas. And from a young
00:56age, Tiffany had a deep love for creative work, particularly painting. And as she grew older,
01:02she took a job at the Pensacola State College Theater, in Pensacola, Florida, where she worked
01:07painting theater sets. Her family raised her with a great deal of freedom, which gave her a free-spirited
01:12nature from childhood. In short, Tiffany was a happy person, who cared deeply about keeping others
01:18happy as well. Before working at the theater, she loved exploring the cultural and natural
01:22attractions that Pensacola had to offer. After joining her job, she would often organize outings
01:27nearby, and also attended blues and swing dance parties. Now she also loved outdoor activities,
01:33and whenever she was not working, she would go hiking or cycling. In addition to that, she had two
01:38tattoos on her feet, that carried a meaningful message. If you look closely, you can see that on
01:43one foot, there is a small seed, which gradually grows larger, and on the other foot, the plant continues
01:49to grow until it reaches its full size. The message behind this is quite clear, that if you love
01:54something or dedicate time to it, it will grow and improve over time. This also tells us just how
01:59creative a person she was, to have come up with something like that. However, 2013 was not a good
02:05period for Tiffany, as her parents had begun to notice that she was likely facing some financial
02:09difficulties. Although nothing was directly said about it at home, her lifestyle made it clear
02:14enough for her family to figure out. She was struggling to pay her rent, which led her to change
02:18roommates multiple times. To make matters worse, most of the roommates she had were also unable
02:23to pay their share of the rent on time. In July of that same year, she posted an ad on
02:28Craigslist
02:29looking for a new roommate. And it was around this time that Tiffany's current roommate, and
02:33what would turn out to be her last roommate, entered the picture. But he was significantly
02:37older than Tiffany, which is why her parents were somewhat concerned from the beginning, as
02:41she was about to live with someone nearly double her age. His name was GN, a 54-year-old father,
02:48who happened to be the father of one of Tiffany's friends. Now he was in the middle of divorce
02:52proceedings, and was no longer living with his wife. So he was looking for a new place to stay.
02:57And when he came across the ad on Craigslist, and later found out it was his daughter's friend,
03:02who had posted it, he decided he would move in. Another reason that made it a practical choice,
03:07was that GN's workplace was also quite close to Tiffany's home. There was also something interesting.
03:13Many of the things Tiffany enjoyed, GN enjoyed as well. Like whether it was cycling, hiking,
03:18or even their diet. They had quite a few similarities. And although I mentioned earlier that Tiffany's
03:24parents had some reservations, the time GN and Tiffany spent together as roommates actually built
03:29a really good bond between them, almost like a father and daughter relationship. GN was genuinely
03:34caring, and made sure Tiffany was doing alright. They would even watch their favorite movies together
03:38late into the night, when they had the time. Now coming to Tiffany's personal life. She did have
03:44a boyfriend. However, he had been accepted into a graduate robotics program at the University of
03:48Texas in Austin. Which meant he had to move away from Tiffany. He had asked her to move with him
03:54so
03:54they could continue living together. But Tiffany declined. Her heart was in Pensacola, and had built her
04:00own little world there. She already had a job, and after so long, her housing situation had finally
04:06stabilized. She did not want to uproot herself, and start over somewhere new.
04:11I will refer to her boyfriend as Dee, going forward. On August 11th, the day Dee was leaving
04:16for Austin, the two of them had a conversation about it, and came to an agreement that she would
04:21not be moving with him, but would visit him in Austin from time to time. When she came home afterward,
04:26she was understandably a little sad. Her boyfriend was moving far away, and even though she knew they
04:31loved each other, and would continue their relationship. The temporary distance still
04:35hurt after spending so much time together. Gian had already noticed this, and reassured her that
04:41things would get better with time, and that whenever she had the chance, she could always visit Dee and
04:45Austin. Or even stay for a few days. That same night, to help lift Tiffany's mood, Gian came up with
04:51a
04:52plan to watch a movie together. The movie they watched was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. They watched
04:57it simply to relax, and once it was over, they each went to their bedrooms. However, at around five
05:03in the morning, Gian was woken up by a sound. He kept hearing the front door of the house opening
05:07and closing, repeatedly. When he came out of his room to check, he didn't see anyone. But he assumed
05:13it was probably Tiffany, and that she had stepped outside for some reason. So he didn't think much of
05:18it, and went back to bed. Then, at around seven in the morning, when Gian was leaving the house for
05:23work, he noticed that Tiffany's car, a gray Toyota 4Runner, wasn't in the garage. Since he had
05:30already heard those sounds earlier at five, he figured Tiffany had probably taken the car out for
05:34something, perhaps heading to the theater. This seemed reasonable to him because Tiffany had
05:39mentioned the previous night, that her work schedule might be changing, as they were working
05:43on a new set that needed to be finished quickly. So he didn't think too much about it, and left
05:47for
05:47work. Now that same night, Gian began to grow worried, as Tiffany would normally be home by
05:53ten o'clock. But Ten came and went with no sign of her. He also had in the back of
05:57his mind that
05:58she had been quite upset the night before. So he called Gian's daughter, who I will refer to as N,
06:04and asked whether she was with her. N told him not to worry, that she was an adult, and had
06:08probably
06:09gone out with friends her own age, and that she would likely be back by midnight. She told Gian to
06:14stop worrying, and get some sleep. In the morning of August 13th, when Gian woke up and found that she
06:19still hadn't come home, his concern grew even more. There had been times before when she had
06:24gone out to parties, but she had always made it back by midnight. And if for some reason she could
06:29not, she would at least reply to Gian's messages, or call him to let him know. But this time, she
06:35had
06:35done neither. When he returned home that evening, and when he went inside, there was still no sign of
06:40Tiffany. This time, he didn't wait any longer. He called N and told her everything, including that it had
06:46now been over 24 hours, and she still had not come home, and that this was not normal at all.
06:51N understood that something was genuinely wrong. Tiffany had never gone completely silent like
06:56this before. So she called Tiffany's mother. I will refer to Tiffany's mother as C. Now N and C
07:01together began calling Tiffany's friends one by one, but none of them had any information about where she
07:06might have gone. By the time they had gone through everyone they could think of, three days had already
07:11passed, with no trace of her. They even went to the theater where Tiffany worked, and asked her
07:16supervisor whether she had come in. The supervisor confirmed that yes, she had come to work on August
07:2112th. But she had been in a great hurry, and had told her supervisor that she would not be able
07:26to
07:26come in for a few days. When the supervisor asked her why she needed the time off, she didn't give
07:32a
07:32clear answer. And this had already concerned the supervisor at the time, as Tiffany's creativity was
07:37essential to the set they were building. And her sudden absence was going to make things difficult.
07:42The supervisor then told C and N that she leave the theater was at 4.43 p.m. Now when
07:48they told
07:48GN about this, he felt that the supervisor was probably right. On the night of August 11th, when he had
07:54heard the front door opening and closing repeatedly, his suspicion that it was Tiffany now seemed more
07:59likely to be true, because the next morning he had woken up to find her car gone, and she had
08:03apparently headed to the theater. At least on the surface, the timeline appeared to line up.
08:08Since she was still nowhere to be found, and with the supervisor's account of her leaving at 4.43 p
08:13.m.,
08:14they decided to take everything directly to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
08:18However, the authorities didn't treat it as a serious concern at first.
08:22They said that she was an adult, and perhaps she simply wanted to spend some time on her own,
08:26away from phone calls and conversations. They even suggested she might have gone on a hiking trip.
08:31They said there was not much to worry about, and that she would probably come back whenever she
08:35was ready. They did, however, suggest that since Tiffany was last seen in Pensacola,
08:40her family should go to the Pensacola City Police Department and inform them,
08:43as they would likely be better placed to investigate the matter further.
08:47When they came to the Pensacola City Police Department, the matter was taken far more seriously.
08:52The case was handed over to Detective D.H., an experienced investigator.
08:56After listening to NNC, his initial impression was that there was no clear indication of foul play.
09:02One early theory was that Tiffany may have gone camping or hiking to take a break,
09:06given that she was known to enjoy those activities.
09:09However, when they went to her bedroom, they found all of her camping gear and equipment right there,
09:14making it clear that she had not gone on any camping trip.
09:17When GN told the detective everything, including the detail about Tiffany's boyfriend leaving,
09:21and how upset she had been about it, Detective D.H. began to consider whether the boyfriend might
09:26somehow be connected. However, this was quickly ruled out. D.H. had left for Austin on August 11th,
09:32the same day he had breakfast with her for the last time. And when his DNA was tested,
09:36his fingerprints were taken, and his cell phone tower data was traced. Everything pointed to Austin.
09:42There was no evidence placing him anywhere near Pensacola on August 12th, 13th, or any time after that.
09:47As a result, D.H. was never seriously considered a suspect, and was fully cleared from the very
09:52beginning. When no meaningful clues could be found, the case was brought to the media,
09:56who began broadcasting it widely. And slowly, new information started to come in.
10:02About a week after Tiffany's disappearance, her car was finally located, and the circumstances
10:06surrounding it were quite concerning. A jogger who had gone out for a morning run recognized the car.
10:12This person happened to be a friend of a family member, and was familiar with the vehicle.
10:15As photos of it had also been released to the media. The car was found on August 20th,
10:20nine days after her had disappeared, in a parking lot near Pensacola Beach at Fort Pickens,
10:25at the western end of Santa Rosa Island. When the car was found there, Tiffany's mother
10:30immediately grew worried. She had told her on previous occasions not to go to that area alone,
10:35as that particular stretch of beach was not considered safe. While investigators initially
10:39thought Tiffany may have gone there for a hike, given the location near Santa Rosa Island,
10:43her mother knew that was exactly the kind of place she had warned her about. Inside the car,
10:48they found Tiffany's bicycle, her cell phone, her purse, some of her clothing,
10:52a painting that was in the trunk, a bottle of water, and a bottle of peanut butter.
10:57When the car was sent for investigation, even more concerning details came to light.
11:02Two fingerprints were found inside the car, one on the door handle and one on the steering wheel,
11:07and neither of them belonged to Tiffany. Police had initially looked at both her boyfriend
11:12and her roommate, GN, as persons of interest. But GN was quickly ruled out, given that he was the
11:18one who had reported her missing in the first place. Neither of their fingerprints matched the
11:22two found in the car. These prints remained completely unidentified, which was a significant
11:27concern. It was also discovered that the car had not been in that parking lot until just two days
11:32before it was found, meaning someone had driven it there recently. This made it clear that the car
11:37had been moved. It had been somewhere else entirely before being brought to that parking lot. And since
11:42the fingerprints on the steering wheel didn't belong to Tiffany, it was evident that she had not been
11:46the one to drive it there. Someone unknown had driven the car to that location. As soon as this
11:50became clear, police began checking CCTV footage from roads in the area. And they found footage showing
11:56the car passing through at 7.51 on a road that connected Pensacola and Island via a skybridge.
12:02However, the footage was not clear enough to determine whether the person driving the car was
12:06her or someone else. Since the CCTV footage had confirmed that the car was seen heading toward the
12:11island, the prevailing theory was that the unknown person whose fingerprints were found in the car
12:15was most likely the one who had driven it there. The problem was that the parking lot where the car
12:21was found was situated next to Santa Rosa Island, and Santa Rosa Island is far from small. It stretches
12:26approximately 80 kilometers in length. So searching an island of that size was no easy task, especially
12:32given that it contains beaches, farmland, shops, and residential areas spread across it. About a week
12:38after the car was found, a massive search operation was launched, which included search dogs. And in the
12:44early stages, some pieces of clothing and a few items of jewelry were recovered. However, when these were taken
12:50into the investigation lab and tested for DNA, none of it matched Tiffany. So despite the scale of the
12:55operation, the outcome yielded nothing positive. Many months later in January 2014, a new report came in. A
13:03waitress at a restaurant in Materi, Louisiana, just outside New Orleans, reported that she had seen a girl who
13:08looked very much like Tiffany come into a restaurant. What made it concerning was that she was accompanied by two
13:13other
13:13women who appeared to be around the same age. They were all nicely dressed, but their behavior was
13:18noticeably strange. They avoided making eye contact with the waitress and seemed uncomfortable. When the
13:24waitress grew suspicious that this might be Tiffany, she reported it to the police. And when investigators
13:29checked the restaurant's security camera footage, they couldn't determine with any certainty whether it
13:34was actually Tiffany, as the footage was not clear enough. However, when Tiffany's family was shown the
13:39footage, they believed it could be her. Although the image wasn't sharp, the body language of the girl in the
13:45footage felt very familiar to them. This led Tiffany's mother to a deeply troubling thought.
13:51That Tiffany may have been taken out of Pensacola, but not of her own free will. The family was now
13:56looking at the case from a very different and deeply worrying angle. Although the police weren't
14:00willing to accept the theory that Tiffany's parents had put forward, as they hadn't found any direct or
14:05indirect evidence to support it, the investigation continued. A few more clues surfaced over time,
14:11but no major breakthrough was ever reached. It has now been over 12 years since she disappeared.
14:17The first thing that struck me as suspicious from the very start of this case is what GN said about
14:22that night. He mentioned that in the early hours of the morning, just before he woke up, he kept hearing
14:28the front door opening and closing repeatedly. But when he came out to check, he didn't see her anywhere.
14:34Now what I can't make sense of logically is why Tiffany would be going in and out of the house
14:38repeatedly. And if she was indeed doing that, how did GN not see her even once? On top of that,
14:45there is no evidence that anything was missing from her room. Which might have at least given us
14:49some explanation for why she would have been moving in and out like that. The next point I want to
14:54raise
14:54is about the conversation with her supervisor. When Tiffany told her supervisor that she wanted to
14:59take a few days off, and her supervisor asked her why, she didn't give a reason. Now the fact that
15:04she
15:04was already planning to take three or four days off suggests that she had something in mind beforehand.
15:08It is possible that she was missing D deeply and was planning to see him, and that this was what
15:13she had been thinking about when she requested the time off. But if that was the case, why would she
15:18not simply tell her supervisor that? There is another thing I couldn't find anywhere in my research.
15:23What time did she actually arrive at the theater that day? If she left home in the early hours of
15:27the
15:27morning, the drive to the theater would take it most around half an hour. So if she left early in
15:32the
15:32morning, and was last seen leaving the theater at 4.43pm, how long was she actually there? That is
15:38something I couldn't find any mention of anywhere. And I think it is worth noting. The next point is
15:45the most troubling of all. Two fingerprints were found in the car, and the one on the steering wheel
15:49in particular makes it clear that someone other than Tiffany had driven it. That alone is deeply
15:54concerning. On top of that, we know the car wasn't in that parking lot from the beginning, because
16:00local residents confirmed that it had not been there until two days before it was found.
16:05If we count from the day Tiffany disappeared, to the day the car was discovered, nearly a week had
16:10passed. And since the car only appeared in that parking lot two days before it was found, that means
16:16it was moved there somewhere around four to five days after she went missing. The biggest question then
16:21is, who drove that car to that parking lot? And what makes it even more alarming is that the
16:26fingerprints and DNA found in the car didn't match anyone in the system. This makes it clear
16:32that an unknown person was behind the wheel, and that person was not Tiffany. Now if we take a brief
16:38look at Pensacola's crime history, we find that the crime rate in 2013 was actually notably lower
16:44than in 2012. Various reports suggest it was around 18% lower. However, that doesn't prove in any way
16:50that nothing sinister happened to Tiffany. So what do you think happened to her that day?
16:55I would love to know your thoughts. Feel free to leave them in the comments.
16:59If you have any information regarding Tiffany Daniels,
17:02please do not hesitate to reach out to the Pensacola City Police Department.
17:17It was April 24th, 1977, when Dora Ruth Smith left her home sometime around midnight,
17:23and never came back. And the only thing known about her disappearance is that when she left,
17:28she was wearing nothing but a nightgown. And during that time, her husband was the only one home.
17:34However, he wasn't particularly alarmed by her leaving, because apparently Dora had a habit of
17:38making spontaneous trips like this. So at first he likely assumed she wasn't feeling well,
17:43and had stepped out to clear her head. So to him, it didn't seem all that out of the ordinary.
17:49But still, there is one thing worth noting. Even if her sudden departures weren't unusual,
17:54the fact that she was leaving in just a nightgown should have prompted at least some concern or a
17:58question from her husband. And perhaps even more troubling, the car itself has never been found
18:03either. As for who Dora Ruth Smith was as a person, she was not someone who kept to herself.
18:09She was social within her neighborhood, talked to people, and by all accounts lived as a fairly
18:14normal, everyday person. So why did Dora suddenly leave her home that night? And more importantly,
18:21why has she never been found since? This case is now nearly 49 years old,
18:26and it still remains unsolved. So in today's video, I'll be going through everything that happened from
18:33the very beginning, and at the end, I'll share my own thoughts on the case.
18:37Dora Ruth Smith was 47 years old at the time of her disappearance, and she lived on the 400 block
18:43of Weekly Street in Florence, Alabama. Now, although her husband hadn't been particularly alarmed by her
18:49leaving, he also didn't report it right away. And it wasn't until nearly a week had passed with no sign
18:55of her that a report was finally filed, and it was actually her son who went to the police. Now,
19:01initially, people speculated that perhaps due to her age, Dora may have been experiencing some kind
19:07of mental decline or memory issues, and that this could explain why she wandered off. However,
19:12because her family waited almost a week before reporting her missing, the police investigation
19:17was already delayed from the start, and by that point, a significant amount of potential evidence
19:21had likely already been lost. As is the case with any investigation, the longer it takes to get
19:27started, the more evidence disappears over time. Beyond this, there is very little else documented
19:34about the case until 2003, when a letter was discovered in the same house. It was not found by
19:40her husband, but by a new resident living there at the time. Inside the letter was $200 in cash,
19:47along with a deeply unsettling message that read,
19:54whether Dora actually wrote that letter, no one can say for certain. But given that it was found
19:59in her former home, police believed it was possible that she had. Police questioned the new resident
20:04about where exactly they had found the letter, because the first obvious question was how a letter
20:09had managed to sit in that house for nearly 26 years without anyone, including her husband ever
20:14finding it. That alone raised some suspicion. The resident explained that since they had just
20:20moved in, they were cleaning the house, and while doing so, they found the letter inside a closet.
20:26And after finding it, they immediately notified the police. This discovery reactivated the investigation,
20:33because after so many years, a new lead had finally surfaced. There was renewed hope,
20:38particularly among Dora's grandchildren. Search dogs were brought in, and the dog was first given the
20:44scent of the letter to work with. Initially, the dog didn't show much of a reaction, but then suddenly
20:49it made its way to a shade in the backyard, where it began digging. But after a short while,
20:53it stopped. Police then dug further into the area themselves, but found nothing. And that was
21:00essentially it. No new leads have emerged since. Now cases like this are difficult to analyze from the
21:06start, especially when so little information is available to begin with. On top of that, given how old
21:12this case is, the technology that exists today simply wasn't available back then. And what makes this
21:18case particularly puzzling is that not only has Dora never been found, but the car has never been found
21:24either. A person disappearing is one thing, but a full-size car is not something that is easy to hide,
21:29and yet it has never turned up either. Now while no news report I came across has officially named anyone
21:34as a suspect, there are a few things in this case that I personally cannot make sense of.
21:40The first is that her husband is the only person who claims to have seen Dora leave the house that
21:44night, and there is no other eyewitness to corroborate that account. On top of that,
21:48he never went to the police himself. It was her son who filed the missing persons report.
21:53It's possible that her son simply hadn't seen his mother in a while. And when he realized she hadn't
21:58been home, that's when the concern set in, and he went to file the report. And then the letter found
22:04nearly 26 years later. Now we can't confirm with certainty who wrote it, but given that it was
22:10found in her former home, many believe it could have been Dora. The message read,
22:15They are trying to take my food away and kill me. Please help me. Now who exactly they refers to
22:21in
22:21that letter, we simply don't know. But what we can take away from it, is that whoever wrote it was
22:26clearly in some kind of trouble, and was trying to get a message out to someone, but never could.
22:31Now as for the theory that police initially considered, which was that Dora may have been
22:36mentally unwell, I personally have a hard time accepting that, because in none of the reports
22:41I read, was there any mention of any prior medical or psychiatric history, that would suggest she
22:46had issues of that nature. Even her granddaughter never brought anything like that up to the police.
22:52So I want to know what you think. Where do you believe Dora Ruth Smith went on the night
22:56of April 24th, 1977. Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed today's video. I am Paul and today's video is bit
23:04longer than usual, because with this kind of video, I need to cover every single details very carefully,
23:10and I know it can be bit longer sometimes, but since I am talking about real people, I want to
23:16make
23:16sure I am sharing all the available details with you. Feel free to leave a comment telling me no,
23:22which case study should I cover next time, and I will definitely do my best to make a video on
23:28it.
