00:00But we do start with the Lakers and Cavs, and LeBron James return.
00:05Now, Jeremy, you got that little social thing, and LeBron and Bronny arriving on the scene,
00:14and there was something waiting for them here on the screens as they went in with
00:21welcome home LeBron and welcome home Bronny as well.
00:27Oh, that's cute, yeah.
00:28So, we don't know.
00:30Everybody's talking, hey, this could be the last time LeBron returns to Cleveland to play.
00:34Do you think he knows right now?
00:36Last time to play where?
00:37In Cleveland.
00:38Because he's retiring?
00:39He's not retiring.
00:40As a visiting player.
00:42Oh, as a visiting player?
00:43I just don't think his retirement is here, only because, you know,
00:48he's super productive still at this stage in his career.
00:51And he's getting an opportunity to play with his son,
00:54which is obviously they come into the games together.
00:57That's a unique situation.
00:58So, all of the things that point to one more year are happening.
01:03If he, his production, his playing time, lack of injury, his son,
01:08all those things point to, I'm still playing.
01:11Yeah, nobody's, he hasn't said it, yes or no at this point,
01:15but does he know at this point?
01:17I don't think he knows, but I think it's fair to say three more years from now, no.
01:22Two more years, maybe, but one more year, definitely.
01:24So, you know, LeBron's very calculated at, you know, things he does.
01:28So, the whole world will know when it's his last year because him and his team,
01:32they probably want the farewell LeBron tour.
01:34So, to answer your question, he doesn't know now, Ernie,
01:37but I do believe he's definitely coming back at least next year.
01:40I'll get to you in one second, Chuck, but first let's hear,
01:43this is J.J. Redick in his pregame press conference just talking about LeBron.
01:49I know, you know, a lot of our conversations about why he's,
01:54he could probably expand on this, but why he's still doing this, you know,
01:58at age 41 and in his 23rd season, he loves the challenge of it,
02:04and he loves new challenges.
02:06And so, I think what we've tried to do as a coaching staff is challenge him
02:13in different ways.
02:14That could be, you know, with three-point volume
02:17or getting more transition opportunities for our team.
02:21To me, it hasn't been, like, hard to coach him.
02:24You just had to kind of understand what he needs,
02:27and then you coach him that way.
02:30Chuck, how impressed are you with what LeBron is doing at 41?
02:35Well, I think you've got to be impressed at what he's accompanying at 41.
02:39Well, there's one thing I'm sure of.
02:41This is last year with the Lakers.
02:43He's not going to play with the Lakers next year.
02:46I like to, I've always said I'd like to see him finish in Cleveland.
02:50I'm not opposed to him getting traded to Cleveland this year,
02:53to be honest with you, because the Eastern Conference is up for grabs.
02:59I think so is the West.
03:00The West is not up for grabs.
03:03Well, they can't grab it.
03:04It might be up for grabs, but the Lakers can't grab it.
03:07I would, like I said, I'd love to see him finish his career in Cleveland
03:10because I've been on the record.
03:12I thought he shouldn't have never left Cleveland.
03:14But this is last year with the Lakers.
03:16The Lakers pretty much, like, you know, this is it.
03:20But, so, depending on what happens, like I say.
03:23What if they win a championship?
03:25If they, I tell you what.
03:26Would this be his last year?
03:28No.
03:28Man, let me tell you something.
03:29The Lakers are not going to win the championship, and you know that too.
03:32Well, I've seen aging superstars not play well.
03:36Oh, yeah.
03:37I'm sorry.
03:38I didn't mean to pause.
03:40Enough about Shaq.
03:42I mean.
03:44At least I left for four.
03:45I was just saying.
03:46This aging superstar is playing great.
03:48And if they win, they have, Chuck, they're in the fifth seed.
03:52They have a shot.
03:54They're only two games out of being a home quarterback.
03:57A three.
03:58A three seed.
03:59Are you kidding me?
04:00Like, they could win the West.
04:03Y'all get to still hurt.
04:04Are you sure you want to say this?
04:05Yes.
04:05Please do.
04:06Let's put our paychecks up against this.
04:09I'll give you the Lakers, and I'll take it.
04:11Oh, no.
04:11That's not a bet.
04:12Okay, okay.
04:12That's what I thought.
04:13You get the field, and I get the Lakers?
04:15I'll take anybody.
04:16I'll take a team in the West.
04:18I'll take a team in the West.
04:19You take the Lakers.
04:20I bet the Lakers.
04:21And whoever goes further in the playoffs.
04:23Okay, what team are you taking?
04:24O-K-C?
04:26Well, that's a limb.
04:27I mean, you're taking the champs.
04:29So, I'll give you anyone other than O-K-C.
04:32Denver Nuggets.
04:32Okay, Denver Nuggets.
04:33I'll say the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
04:36I'll take that bet.
04:37Okay, we'll take that bet.
04:38Our salaries.
04:39And the bet is whoever goes further in the playoffs?
04:42Whoever goes further in the playoffs.
04:43Are we going to bet our salaries?
04:45You know what?
04:47I'm not playing, so I'm not betting on somebody I'm not playing.
04:49I got your back.
04:50Well, and listen, how about this?
04:51I'll let you sign with the team.
04:55No, then I'll bet with them.
04:56Listen, LeBron, number one, I think he's earned the right for a farewell tour.
05:00But it's clear this is his last year with the Lakers.
05:04They're going to move on.
05:05And I think that's the right thing to do.
05:06At some point, you've got to turn the team over to Luka and Austin.
05:09And that's the only way you can start.
05:10Because you can't be paying him $50 million a year to be the third best player on a team.
05:15You want an interesting one of those nuggets that I find interesting that some other folks
05:23do find interesting from time to time?
05:24I do.
05:25Lakers are 11 games over 500.
05:27All right?
05:28They've scored one more point than they have allowed.
05:31How about that for a point differential for a team that's 11 games over 500?
05:36And you know why it is?
05:37I do.
05:37Because they're the best team in the league in clutch games.
05:40And they've also lost 17 games, 15 of those by double digits.
05:45By double digits, yeah.
05:45There you go.
05:46And so that's how you come up with it.
05:47That's why I told you earlier, you should go on Jeopardy.
05:49You know more useless crap than these other people on Jeopardy.
05:51I think that's interesting.
05:53Don't you think that's interesting?
05:54But you know why they lose by double digits?
05:56Because they –
05:57Because when they get to a point –
05:58If it's not a tight game, they just –
05:59No, right, when they get to a point, they're like,
06:01we have LeBron and we have older players
06:04and we have Luka who plays super minutes.
06:07We're not going for this game.
06:08We're allowing this game to get out of hand.
06:11And so where OKC, they'd be bringing in younger guys.
06:16You know, San Antonio, they're bringing in guys.
06:18And they're trying to go to still get those down 15 with nine minutes to go.
06:22They'd still try to go.
06:23And now, for a team that's been hurt, Garland's still out.
06:27Now, Evan Mobley is out tonight.
06:30Chuck?
06:31Yeah, the Mobley thing is obviously a big deal.
06:35I tell you, man, I've been –
06:37I've been watching these games very closely because –
06:40You get paid to.
06:40No, no, no.
06:41It's starting to get serious because I'm getting ready to take our hiatus
06:44because I've been watching more college basketball.
06:47And as I call March Madness, it's the Arizona Invitational, just for the record.
06:51That's what March Madness is going to be.
06:52It's going to be the Arizona Invitational.
06:54Bet it.
06:55But I think – I have no idea who's going to win the East right now.
07:03The Pistons are probably the favorite.
07:05I picked the Knicks to start the season.
07:08They haven't adjusted mentally to being the hunted instead of the hunter.
07:13My Sixers, if they're healthy, they're in the conversation.
07:19If Jason Tatum come back – because Jalen Brown's in the MVP conversation.
07:24But if Jason Tatum come back and he can be 80% Jason Tatum,
07:30the Celtics will probably be the favorite.
07:33But, sir, you would rather not talk about the Cleveland Cavaliers?
07:35I don't believe in the Cavaliers.
07:37I don't.
07:38Like last year when they were the number one seed and then they got –
07:41I'm not worried about sweating, dude.
07:43We're on TV.
07:43When they were the number one seed last year and came out –
07:47It looks crazy.
07:47You know, when they came out last year and lost to Indiana,
07:53and they – I was like, wow, they should not lose.
07:56Because I picked them last year.
07:57Then they just got smoked by Indiana.
08:02And Indiana's compromised, obviously.
08:04I don't have faith against them, against the Pistons,
08:07against the Knicks, and against Boston, to be honest with you.
08:10I don't.
08:11I don't have faith in them.
08:12And I would like to judge this team when they're at full strength.
08:15You know, the last two seasons have been kind of up and down with injuries.
08:17But this guy right here, you know, sometimes he turns it on, he turns it off.
08:20I would like to see him have a consistent year, especially in the postseason.
08:24Chuck makes a great point.
08:25Indiana smoked him.
08:26You know, he didn't really play that well in the players.
08:28But this guy right here, him and Mobley, those guys are going to carry him.
08:32But right now they're not healthy, so really can't judge him.
08:34He's one of the only guys that when his supporting, real supporting cast members go down,
08:42actually gets more productive.
08:44Because the more volume you give him shots, the better he actually is.
08:49He is a volume shooter.
08:51And when he gets hot, he can hit a high clip of him.
08:54So a lot of guys, they're facilitators and playmakers.
08:58They're not just scorers.
08:59His number one job is to put the ball in the basket.
09:02And so when you have a guy like Garland out and you have Mobley out,
09:07the team doesn't suffer as much as it would be some other teams in the league.
09:12Cavs with 11 wins when down by double digits.
09:18Tied for the most in the league 11 times.
09:20And the Lakers, by the way, just one loss after they've led by double digits.
09:25Slice gets a shout-out.
09:27Yeah.
09:28Let's see.
09:29Stop this in the middle.
09:30There's a comment on your jacket.
09:33Clean.
09:34Your mom said, wow, that looks like the cats we had growing up.
09:37And it's the entire suit.
09:39It's clean.
09:41Thank you, Mom.
09:41Extremely clean.
09:42I appreciate it.
