00:00Selling 20 million albums, country music hall of famer, 20 top 10 hits, 14 number ones, 5 Grammys, and throw
00:06in 7 ACMs.
00:08And she's a legend, the lovely Wynonna Judd. What's going on? Why? How are you?
00:11Oh my lord. How in the world? I'm gonna have to listen to you every day. That's amazing.
00:17Yeah, I love you. Why? I grew up, you know, listen to the good old days, listen to the music.
00:22I've heard you say that behind all the success has been a woman in crisis.
00:26Well, I wouldn't say crisis. I think what I am is vulnerable.
00:30I would love to talk about some of these classic stories that I've heard you tell before, which hopefully will
00:34help in the healing process.
00:36But I just got a chuckle when I heard you say that your mom's hobby was trying to get backstage
00:41at concerts.
00:42And there's a great story about you as a teenager and your mom getting on Merle Haggard's tour bus.
00:47And boy, did your mom have the gift of gab and that charm. Can you tell that story?
00:52I wrote about it in my book. I wrote a book about my journey, so far anyway, and it's called
00:57Coming Home to Myself.
00:58When I was a teenager, my mother got her way back to age and we ended up on a bus
01:02for three days with Merle Haggard.
01:04And the rest is her story. She's quite the character. She's colorful. She had a way about her.
01:08She was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen. She was like the kind of gorgeous that
01:12men followed her home.
01:14I think Merle just thought she was the prettiest thing in the world.
01:16And here we are on the road to Merle Haggard.
01:18And of course, years later, we would chuckle about it because it's like, here's my life.
01:22At 15, I think I was, and I had just started really singing country music.
01:27And so it was a dream come true. But it was like, how in the world did I end up
01:30here?
01:30And it was like, here's my mother.
01:31I'm here.
01:31I'm here.
