Quezon City 4th district Rep. Jesus "Bong" Suntay made an offensive remark toward showbiz personality Anne Curtis on Tuesday, March 3 during the House Committee on Justice hearing on the impeachment complaints filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Suntay--who had been gallantly defending Duterte from her impeachment allegations--was rebuked by the committee members as a result.

00:00And whether individually or collectively, looking at all the videos shown, there can be nothing said issues that can be
00:15attributed to the Vice President.
00:18In fact, there is nothing for her to denounce, no statements to denounce.
00:24Because we cannot attribute statements made by other people to the Vice President just because she was there.
00:31Then we have to do it with everyone who is there.
00:35Eh, lahat na lang ng present, sabihin natin eh, we should attribute that statement.
00:40So, mere presence in the rally does not make reactions and issues. That is very clear.
01:11Thank you very much, Madam Chair.
01:17Madam Chair, I would like to have those statements tricken from the record.
01:24Madam Chair, happy women's mother.
01:26There is nothing sexual, dun sa sinabi ko.
01:28Nothing immoral.
01:30It's just, I said, may na-imagine ako.
01:34I think that is not, that is nothing wrong.
01:37Nevertheless, Madam Chair, I want that deleted in the record.
01:40Can the Chair hear the proper motion towards striking out from the record?
01:47Honorable Samora.
01:49Madam Chair, I move to strike those statements from the record.
01:52Objection, Madam Chair.
01:53There is a motion to strike out from the record the earlier manifestation of the Honorable Suntai
02:01about his imagination upon seeing Ann Cortese.
02:06Do I hear a second?
02:08A second.
02:08Second, Madam Chair.
02:10I just want to put on record that we cannot censure anything which is illegal or immoral.
02:13The Honorable Suntai is enjoined from further making manifestation until we resolve the motion.
02:18Order, please.
02:19I think we are starting a dangerous precedent because now we are censuring manifestations
02:27which is neither illegal or immoral.
02:31So imagine we are conducting a hearing, but now statements which are neither immoral or illegal
02:38can be streaken out of the record without any reason.
02:42I think that's a terrible procedure that I'm just acting.
02:45Madam Chair, the Honorable Samora.
02:47With all due respect to my friend, Congressman Bong Suntai, it is just the start of the Women's
02:56Month, and I don't think that we should be hearing such comments from our dear colleagues.
03:04We are not censuring anything, but we are reminding them that, in fact, we should support women
03:16by not saying these statements.
