00:00Right from the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have capability to go far longer than that.
00:08We'll do it. Whatever somebody said today, they said, oh, well, the president wants to do it really quickly.
00:14After that, he'll get bored. I don't get bored.
00:18Let's get the latest with Bloomberg editor John Haney.
00:21John, we are hearing the U.S. president saying they'll do whatever it takes.
00:26Can they do this without dragging the U.S. into an endless war?
00:32History, of course, is inescapable here.
00:36Americans, of course, remember or know about the conflict in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan.
00:46So there is not there's not going to be unlimited patience on a part of the American people for a
00:53conflict in yet another conflict in the Middle East.
00:57Now, I should say I should say that this has become more complicated, perhaps as time has gone on.
01:07Now, just a short time ago, the State Department warned Americans to leave countries in the Middle East and that
01:15they had to do so by commercial means,
01:17which suggest that the U.S. government will not be helping them to get out.
01:24Is there any suggestion as we hear that there are background talks involving the UAE, Qatar trying to get allies
01:31to form some sort of coalition to persuade the president to keep this short?
01:34Is there any indication that such a coalition would have that influence?
01:40Well, President Trump over the weekend said that he was willing to speak to the Iranians.
01:46And there have been indications that perhaps the United States will be willing to make some sort of accommodation with
01:58the remnants of the Iranian establishment.
02:02But and there has also been some some idea that this could go the way of Venezuela, where you had
02:11the removal of Nicolas Maduro, the president, but his government still largely intact.
02:18But, of course, as we've seen, even the last few days, Iran is a very different country than Venezuela.
