U.S. military leaders Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine confirmed more U.S. forces are being deployed to the Middle East amid ongoing combat operations against Iran — labeled Operation Epic Fury. They would not commit to a short timeline for the conflict, hinting that the war may last longer than initial estimates. Caine also pledged additional tactical aviation and resources, while Hegseth defended President Trump’s strategy against criticisms about the duration and scope of the mission.

00:29At 15.38, 3.38 p.m., on Friday, February 27th, the United States Central Command, through the Secretary of
00:39War, received the final go order from President Trump.
00:42The president directed, and I quote, Operation Epic Fury is approved, no aborts, good luck, close quote.
00:50In the region, every element of the Joint Force made their final preparations.
00:54Air defense batteries readied themselves, checking their systems to respond to Iranian attacks.
01:01Pilots and crews rehearsed their strike packages for the final time.
01:05Air crews began loading their final weapons, and two carrier strike groups began to move towards their launching points.
01:12Across the globe, our operations centers came alive in Tampa, Florida, here at the Pentagon, and of course forward in
01:19the Central Command AOR.
01:20As always, operational security was paramount, as we sought to maintain and sustain the element of surprise.
01:30This operation was highly classified so that at H-hour, the enemy would see one thing, speed, surprise, and violence
01:38of action.
01:39The first movers were U.S. Cybercom and U.S. Spacecom, layering non-kinetic effects, disrupting and degrading and blinding
01:48Iran's ability to see, communicate, and respond.
01:52At H-hour, the beginning of major combat operations, 0-1-15 local Eastern Daylight Time, 9-45 local AM
02:03Tehran Time, as dawn crept up across the Central Command AOR, the skies surged to life.
02:10More than 100 aircraft launched from land, sea, fighters, tankers, airborne early warning, electronic attack, bombers from the states, and
02:19unmanned platforms, forming a single, synchronized wave.
02:24This was a daylight strike based on a trigger event conducted by the Israeli Defense Forces, enabled by the U
02:32.S. intelligence community.
02:33The first shooters at sea were tomahawks, unleashed by the United States Navy, closed in on Iranian naval forces, and
02:41began to conduct strikes across the southern flank in Iran.
02:45On the ground, forces fired precision, standoff weapons, measured, deliberate, precise, and lethal.
02:53This was a massive, overwhelming attack across all domains of warfare, striking more than 1,000 targets in the first
03:0124 hours.
03:02We are now roughly 57 hours into the operation.
03:07In the initial phase, CENTCOM's focus was systematic targeting of Iranians' command and control infrastructure, naval forces, ballistic missile sites,
03:18and intelligence infrastructure, designed to daze and confuse them.
03:23Coordinated space and cyber operations effectively disrupted communications and sensor networks across the area of responsibility, leaving the adversary without
03:35the ability to see, coordinate, or respond effectively.
03:39The combined impact of these strikes, swift, precise, and overwhelming, has resulted in the establishment of local air superiority.
03:47This air superiority will not only enhance the protection of our forces, but also allow them to continue the work
03:55over Iran.
03:57Over the course of the last two days, the Joint Force has launched hundreds of missions from land and sea
04:03and delivered tens of thousands of pieces of ordnance.
04:07The effort continues to scale.
04:09This included American B-2 bombers, which again, similar to Midnight Hammer, flew a 37-hour round-trip sortie from
04:17the continental United States, dropping precision, penetrating munitions on Iranian underground facilities across the southern flank and slightly deeper.
