A university student under investigation for posting a photo of himself stepping on the Quran is expected to be charged at the Kuantan Sessions Court on Tuesday (March 3).

The Attorney General’s Chambers said on Monday (March 2) that, after reviewing police investigation papers, there is sufficient evidence to proceed with charges.

00:42Conviction under Section 295 may result in up to two years' imprisonment, a fine or both,
00:49while Section 233 carries a maximum fine of RM500,000 up to two years in prison or both.
00:57The AGC reaffirmed its commitment to upholding justice in accordance with the law.
