Police have detained a student of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) on suspicion of uploading social media content touching on issues of religion, race, and the royal institution (3R).

00:06on suspicion of uploading social media content touching on the sensitive 3R issues.
00:12Pahang Police Chief Commissioner Yahaya Othman confirmed the arrest,
00:16stating the student was taken in early Wednesday morning to assist with investigations.
00:21Authorities wasted no time, announcing they would be applying for a remand order against the suspect
00:26on the very same day.
00:28The arrest follows the rapid spread of social media content allegedly linked to the suspect,
00:34including posts insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
00:37The student faces investigation under Section 295 of the Penal Code for the offence of insulting religion.
00:45Additionally, the suspect is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998
00:53for the improper use of network services to transmit offensive, abusive, threatening or obscene content.
01:01The university had earlier confirmed it was separately investigating the student under university disciplinary rules,
01:08stressing that it would not compromise on content that spreads hatred or touches on 3R sensitivities.
