43:47But for those of you who don't know it,
43:49here's the short version.
43:52My parents were both junior hockey coaches.
43:56And they were hit by a drunk driver
43:59when I was 12 years old.
44:02Mercifully for them,
44:03they died instantly.
44:05Mercifully for me,
44:07the St. Thomas Scholarships existed.
44:11I didn't have anybody else to help me.
44:15I had a lot of memories,
44:17a love of hockey,
44:18and a huge hole in my heart.
44:22St. Thomas filled it with hope.
44:25The hope of a new family.
44:28Things weren't always easy.
44:30You know,
44:31they never are for anybody.
44:32But
44:34in hockey,
44:34I found what I was missing.
44:37First at my high school,
44:39then later at college,
44:40and now here with the admirals.
44:42And I never looked back
44:45because I never had to.
44:49The family I craved,
44:51the family that I needed,
44:52that I still need today,
44:56hockey gave it to me.
44:58And St. Thomas gave me hockey.
45:02So from the bottom of my heart,
45:04I want to thank you all

45:08because it's not just a scholarship.
