00:18I come to the set every day with a smile on my face...
00:21...because we're making Captain America.
00:25And being handed the shield, it just means a lot to me.
00:28It's personal.
00:32Ele fez essa decisão
00:33de ser unabastamente Captain America
00:35Sir, hey, hey
00:38Ele stays
00:39E Harrison Ford, playing President Ross
00:41É um dos muitos momentos
00:43Pinch-yourself moments
00:44Eu vi atores que atores
00:46em Marvel movies
00:48Tive um bom tempo
00:49E eu pensei, well
00:51Talvez ele possa me dar algum de isso
00:53Harrison foi legal e ele foi ótimo
00:56E foi muito interessante
00:57To see him sculpting a character in a world this big
01:00I couldn't put a price on that lesson
01:02You may be Captain America
01:03But you're not Steve Rogers
01:07You're right
01:07I'm not
01:12Captain America
01:13You ever ask yourself
01:16Who's playing who?
01:19Audiences are gonna really appreciate
01:21Bringing it back to old school Marvel
01:22And I'm excited for people to see that
01:27So many surprises left
01:32You want me?
01:34Come and get me!
01:40He didn't take the serum
01:41He can't, you know
01:43Punch his way through problems
01:45I bet you break easy
01:47Not that easy
01:58The really critical thing
01:59Was
02:00That you know
02:02That Sam is our new Captain America
02:03And that you understand
02:05How this guy has been able
02:06To thrive in this position
02:08He is not conventionally super-powered
02:10He does not have a serum
02:12Yet he's still incredibly heroic
02:18A lot of that stuff I did myself
02:20My stunt double
02:21He choreographed it in a way
02:24Where it was a lot of stuff
02:25That looked very dangerous
02:27But stuff I could do
02:30There's a great moment
02:31Where he gets really resourceful
02:32And grabs a bunch of bricks
02:33And uses them to take
02:35You know
02:35Take out a few mercs
02:36And it's a cool fun action moment
02:38So there was this one part
02:40Where I just had to
02:41Take this dude
02:42And slam him over the brick
02:44Pick the brick up
02:45And just beat this dude
02:47With the brick
02:50Redway
02:51On my mark
02:52The film is so kinetic
02:53It was such an amazing experience
02:56I already know what you're trying to do
02:57Can't be at two places at once
03:00Alright, this time
03:08I never experienced
03:09First of all
03:10Motorcycles crashing
03:11At full speed
03:12Underneath me
03:13While I then land
03:14With wires right after
03:15But these guys
03:16Were phenomenal
03:17These stuntmen
03:18The type of Joaquin I wanted
03:20You can find in the comics
03:21He was incredibly agile
03:23And swift
03:24And so
03:24Wanting to translate that
03:26From the comic
03:27To the movie
03:28Made me have to build
03:29A pretty strong foundation
03:31Of the fight choreography
03:33Stunts
03:34Wirework
03:35Yeah, it was pretty cool
03:48How you doing?
03:50Good morning
03:50Good morning
03:51I brought you guys
03:52Some coins
03:52That I had made
04:02One, two, three
04:04Hold on one second
04:32Good morning

08:47It's so exciting that Sam Wilson is a guy who just went out for a jog and he became Captain
08:55America.
08:55It's like the American dream, you know, it's everything that's wonderful about the world that we live in.
09:02And now we get to see him in full regalia at the precipice of his ability, you know, being Captain
09:10America.
09:11It's just great. That's never happened before. We've never seen it before.
09:15And I'm just proud that people get to see him and his full, true ability.
09:21This story has a political thriller tone and is grounded on the base of reality.
09:27Why is that important to this franchise and to your characterization of Captain America?
09:33It's very important that Captain America is grounded and, you know, gives more of a human-like feel with being
09:41a political thriller and, you know, things like that.
09:44Because these characters are every man, you know, Sam Wilson never took the serum.
09:51So everybody can watch this movie and see themselves in Sam Wilson.
09:55He's literally the best part of all of us personified.
10:00You know, when you don't have superpowers, you really have to, you know, use yourself.
10:06And two things, two words Julius and I would bring up every day was compassion and empathy.
10:15And I feel like those two words exemplify who Sam Wilson is.
10:21So Sam Wilson is no Steve Rogers, so they say.
10:26How does he differ from Steve Rogers?
10:28And what stands out about Sam that makes him a great Captain America?
10:35Well, I think with Steve giving the shield to Sam, he saw something very unique.
10:41But also he saw a lot of himself in Sam and vice versa.
10:47Sam's not having the serum.
10:51It makes him more of a human.
10:54It makes him more of a compassionate superhero.
10:57Because when we first saw him, he was a counselor.
11:00There's a certain type of person that it takes to put all of your troubles and everything aside
11:07to literally focus on someone else and help someone else.
11:10He's a caretaker.
11:12He's a, you know, he's a humanitarian.
11:15And I think that's what makes him so different from Steve.
11:19He can't use brute force to solve his problems.
11:21He has to listen and care and react to the person in front of him,
11:29as opposed to going through the person in front of him.
11:32Can you describe Sam's new suit and weaponry?
11:37Sam's new suit is something special.
11:39So we went to Wakanda, and Wakanda gave me a new all-out, you know, tech-heavy suit.
11:47Because becoming Captain America, I need to be able to, you know, take those blows.
11:52And, you know, I need that extra force.
11:54And, you know, the wings need to be more viable in whatever climate we're in.
12:00So the Wakandans gave me a new suit.
12:02And the tech is something special.
12:06You know, red wing is new.
12:08The vibranium in the suit is new in the way it's used.
12:12So there's many different parts of it that I can't say.
12:15But the suits knew and improved.
12:19What was your experience like working with director Jonas Onok?
12:23My experience of working with Julius was kind of unique but beautiful at the same time.
12:31I mean, two days after he got the job, he flew to New Orleans.
12:35And we sat for two days and just talked about this story, this character,
12:41what we wanted it to be and what we wanted it to represent.
12:45And what was really unique about him that I really cared about, he's so good with character.
12:52Like he can sit and watch the monitor and he knows what conveys the emotional place of the character so
13:00well
13:01that he would literally give me notes in a very constructive, specific way.
13:08When you do this, it gives me this.
13:11So let's try this because I want that.
13:14Because that will get us to that idea of, you know, who we want this character to be.
13:19So just his verbiage and directing and his open, easy heart, like it was just, it's fun to be around
13:28him.
13:30Tell us about working with the cast.
13:34It really was a treasure, the people that we were able to put together for this.
13:42You know, if you look from Shira to Danny, you know, to Zosia,
13:48everyone was just so into the idea of this movie and into the idea of Sam being Captain America.
13:57You know, Giancarlo Esposito was on my wish list when we first started.
14:02You know, Julius asked the question, if no wasn't an answer, who would you get?
14:09And Giancarlo Esposito didn't say no, you know.
14:12So, and I've known him and Tim Blake Nelson for so long.
14:15You know, I did a movie with Harrison 21 years ago.
14:18It's just, it's really interesting how it came together.
14:21And we really got, I feel, the best cast we could ask for.
14:26Because everybody showed up and played fair.
14:28Everybody showed up with a certain pep in their step and excitement about this movie.
14:34And I think it shows on the screen and it just made the movie ten times better.
14:39What was your workout like for this film?
14:43And how did it differ from your preparation for your previous Falcon roles at the MCU?
14:48Well, because of the stunt work that we were doing in this movie,
14:53my workout program was very different.
14:56I usually lift heavy weights and just lift as much as I can, lift the whole gym.
15:01But with this one, I did Pilates and yoga.
15:05I did a lot of body weight working.
15:09I did a lot of, you know, pulley and band work.
15:14And I was surprised how much, how different of a workout that was
15:20and how different it made my body look and feel.
15:22It was really more so the idea of being pliable and being more flexible than being stronger.
15:32So, from your opinion, what can the fans look forward to when they see this film?
15:40I think the fans would be very excited to see, you know, Sam Wilson come to, you know, come to
15:47full bloom as Captain America.
15:49I think there's something very special about Sam and his ability to identify with everyone as the best part of
15:57them.
15:58We all see ourselves in Sam Wilson, you know.
16:01So, I'm just excited for people to see that and see his character
16:05and how we've made it into this dynamic, three-dimensional representation of everything that's good.
16:17Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Thaddeus Walls.
16:33Whatever this is, Cap, be careful.
16:40What do we know?
16:41There were five shooters.
16:44This was a coordinated terrorist attack, sir.
16:47I was a wartime general.
16:50Now I'm a wartime president.
16:53Your inner circle's been compromised.
16:55Let me fix it.
16:56Watch yourself.
16:58You're not Steve Rogers.
17:00You're right.
17:01I'm not.
17:09Wait for it.
17:16We're on the brink of war.
17:20I can't trust anyone.
17:25Nothing about this feels right.
17:28Captain America.
17:29You ever ask yourself,
17:32who's playing who?
17:43Someone's been pulling the strings on everything.
17:46You're under arrest?
17:49I don't want a variable out there that I can't control.
17:52Stop!
17:56Captain America caught without his wings.
18:00You like to play dress up and blindly execute the state's orders.
18:04Don't say I didn't want you.
18:05What if this is a trap?
18:07You don't even know what this is.
18:14Since when were they red?
18:23Você quer me?
18:25Venha me pegar!
18:49Tchau, tchau!
