00:01All right, gentlemen, you receive the instructions in the dressing room.
00:03Know what I expect?
00:05Good clean fight.
00:06Legal punches here for you.
00:09Legal punches here for you.
00:10Touch gloves left to both of you.
00:12There's no doubt Cardenas has the better resume, the better competition.
00:18But you heard the crowd, they believe El Moreno can pull it off.
00:22Over half of his KO wins have come in either round one or round two.
00:27But he's never seen the seventh round.
00:30Martinez early, Cardenas late.
00:32We're about to find out.
00:34What a matchup to start the show.
00:37Here we go.
00:39This crowd is already on fire for Jordan Martinez, a hometown fighter.
00:44And look, I don't know what to expect about Martinez either.
00:47Not much tape on him.
00:49His resume is a little soft, but that zero is impressive.
00:52Undefeated fighter.
00:54I want to see what he's going to do once he gets clipped, how he's going to react.
00:57With the harder puncher and the most more experienced fighter in Cardenas.
01:02Yeah, Martinez is not a high volume puncher from what we've seen on film.
01:06But he is a slashing puncher.
01:08And he loves to throw that leaping left hook.
01:10It's one of his best shots.
01:11That's how he scored several of his knockouts.
01:13And leap in, try to take advantage of his athleticism.
01:16You can see right away, quick feet, good bounce on it.
01:19I think it's going to be a challenge for Cardenas tonight.
01:25If Martinez doesn't have upper body movement, he's going to get caught with a catching counter-type shot.
01:31So he needs to be a little more loose with the upper body.
01:34Interestingly, Martinez, despite that rousing ovation, said he doesn't really like fighting here at home.
01:39Sergio said, there's so many distractions.
01:41Everyone's pulling me one way or another.
01:43Hey, listen, I talk about the hometown curse all the time.
01:47It just, it's, it really is a lot of responsibility being a hometown fighter with the tickets, the family,
01:53and they pull you in different directions and you still have to go in there and fight.
01:59You know, one thing I like about Martinez is that even though he's not with a major promoter,
02:05he was able to stay active over the last few years.
02:08Six fights in 2024, four fights in 2025, including one just this past December.
02:14So he's coming into this fight sharp.
02:16Nice work here for Martinez as Cardenas is content just to absorb some punishment on the ribs.
02:21This is a great run by Jordan Martinez.
02:23And I love the fact that he's punching and dipping, minding his defense.
02:26No talking, no talking.
02:27He's not just, he's not just aggressive.
02:28He's actually punching and dipping and minding what's coming back.
02:32You can see that Cardenas is just waiting to counter something hard,
02:35but one punch is not going to do it for a sly fighter like Martinez right now.
02:39I wonder, Sergio, if Cardenas wants to know if the power is real.
02:44You kind of back up against the ropes, play a little game of possum.
02:47It's a guy coming in with a glistering, glistening rather, knockout ratio.
02:50Maybe you kind of want to see if that power is legit.
02:53Right now, Martinez is having a great opening round.
02:57And you can tell that Cardenas is giving him a little bit of that,
03:00but he can't give too much giving away to the hometown fighter.
03:03I mean, it's going to get good to him winning rounds, hearing the roar of the crowd,
03:07giving a fighter like Martinez a lot more confidence.
03:11You know, Cardenas is doing a pretty good job gobbling up a lot of these punches.
03:15His defense has been pretty sharp so far.
03:17Not throwing much back offensively, but that guard has been pretty tight.
03:21And nice job here by Martinez to kind of slow the pace a little bit.
03:24It's clear Cardenas is kind of giving this round away, Sergio.
03:27Let Martinez burn off some of that energy.
03:29Let's stop at the bell.
03:36Stop!
03:37Thank you, man.
03:45Yep.
03:47How do you feel?
03:47How do you feel?
03:48I'm stuck.
03:50You want to get out of your power right now.
03:52Yes, exactly.
03:53Yes, you have to start close.
04:11Let'sím plaisir.
04:13Watch this one.
04:17Watch this one.
04:17Watch this one.
04:18Watch this one for me.
04:19That's a good one, okay?
04:25Okay, let's go.
04:31Excellent round by Martinez,
04:32and that's why I was talking about minding his defense.
04:34Punching and going under the left hook of Cardenas,
04:38so he knows what's coming back,
04:39but they want more from Cardenas,
04:41not letting Martinez get comfortable
04:43with those foot feints and jabs to the gut.
04:45But, Sergio, when you've got a fighter
04:46like Martinez standing in front of you
04:48who's never seen the second half of a fight before,
04:51are you content to just let him throw some punches early on?
04:55No way.
04:55Fatigue? No? No way.
04:56No, you don't want this man to get any kind of confidence.
04:59I mean, this is his hometown.
05:00This is a moment that Martinez has been waiting for.
05:02You don't want him to have any kind of rounds
05:04and any kind of confidence going his way.
05:09Let's see how much more active Cardenas is
05:12here in round number two.
05:13In the first round, he got outlanded 16-5 by Martinez.
05:18And the punch output.
05:20Big right hand for Martinez.
05:23And look at the redness already on the face of Cardenas.
05:26Quick hands, quick combinations by Martinez.
05:29I love the punch selection.
05:30Watch your elbow.
05:31He's going down the middle and going around the guard
05:33and still going under the punches.
05:36Martinez looking really sharp,
05:38and that's that jab to the body that I like cutting Cardenas in half.
05:40Chris, I'd love to get your perspective.
05:42What do you think Cardenas is doing right now?
05:44Is this his style?
05:45Is he fighting the way he wants to be fighting?
05:47Or do you think he's giving up some?
05:48No, this, Cardenas.
05:50Look, I think Cardenas is sitting on that one shot.
05:53We talked to him this week and he said power was a big emphasis in this training camp.
05:57Getting more on the back end of his shots.
06:00But I think he's being too inactive right now.
06:02I mean, look, he's not going to match the output of Martinez here,
06:06but you can't just sit back and allow him to pepper you like this.
06:09A ten-round fight.
06:10You're giving up one round, a little bit more in the second.
06:13Got to be more active.
06:15But here's the thing, Chris.
06:16You're not just giving up rounds.
06:17You're giving up confidence.
06:19I mean, the thing about Martinez,
06:21you want to make him feel like he doesn't belong.
06:24You don't want him to get confidence and feel the role of the crowd.
06:27Yeah.
06:27You know, so you want to take that away from him,
06:29rob him from that by just digging away to the body
06:31and making him feel the heavy hands
06:34and heavy pressure of Cardenas.
06:37But you wonder if in the back of Martinez's mind,
06:39is he thinking, I've got to say something.
06:42I've never, you know,
06:43sparring is way different than a real fight, Sergio.
06:45He doesn't know what the second half of a fight feels like.
06:47Look, man, right now, I love everything I'm seeing from Martinez.
06:51The foot feints, that jab to the body,
06:53the combinations, the defense.
06:55If he continues this,
06:57it's going to be a long night for Arturo Cardenas.
07:00And Sergio, sparring isn't everything,
07:03but Martinez sparred with Sugar Nunez in advance of this fight.
07:08He says he has sparred with Kazuto Ayoka, a world champion.
07:11He says he's also sparred with Nonito Donaire.
07:14Those are top-level guys that he's getting a lot of work in.
07:17And when you spar big names like that, world champions,
07:22you feel you belong.
07:23You learn something from them.
07:25You pick their brain.
07:26And especially if they compliment you,
07:28saying that you're going to be something,
07:30that just takes you to another level.
07:32And that's what we're seeing right now with Jordan Martinez.
07:35Another solid round by the hometown kid.
07:50Take a breath. Breathe.
07:52Look, I don't want you to get overconfident.
07:57You got to lift your hands up, man.
07:59You got to go in with a jab.
08:03Don't get overconfident.
08:16And Martinez going around the guard with a beautiful right hook.
08:20I love the hand speed.
08:21Hand speed is on the side of Martinez.
08:23Cardenas maybe has a slightly better technique and maybe the power,
08:27but right now speed is needing technique and power.
08:31You know, I like that advice from the corner of Martinez.
08:35Ten-round fight. Settle in here.
08:36Don't get too confident.
08:37He's had a lot of success in these first two rounds,
08:40but you're going up against a guy that's very familiar
08:42with fighting into the second halves of fights.
08:44Yeah, Martinez's trainer, Chuy Fuentes,
08:46basically saying what we are seeing.
08:49Sort of like, hey, you know, still waiting for Cardenas to wake up here.
08:52Be careful.
08:53The body shot's up by Cardenas.
08:56That's what he's going to have to do.
08:58Stop focusing on the body of Martinez.
09:00Slow down them legs because the speed and the foot speed
09:04is on the side of Jordan Martinez.
09:06So you got to slow this guy down.
09:09I think Martinez is at his best moving forward here.
09:12Cardenas has not shown that he's able yet to fight off the back foot.
09:16When he starts moving forward and pressing,
09:17that's when he's had his limited amount of success.
09:20Look at those body shots.
09:21I love the punch selection and combinations by Martinez.
09:26He's creative with the punches that he's throwing against Cardenas.
09:32There's a straight right-handed snuff through from Cardenas,
09:34followed up by a left uppercut.
09:39Martinez answering back.
09:40Some of those punches are being blocked off.
09:42Yeah, and he's not loading up.
09:43Martinez is not loading up on those punches.
09:45He's waiting for the counter to come back
09:47so he can counter the counter puncher.
09:50A really smart fighter is Jordan Martinez.
09:52I'm really impressed so far.
09:55He talked the talk in the fighter meetings.
09:57He said all the right things, but I love seeing it in display.
10:03Good body shot there by Cardenas.
10:08He's going to need a lot more of those body shots to slow down,
10:11Martinez.
10:12Cardenas told us yesterday that he thought
10:14Martinez would stand right in front of him and throw punches,
10:16and that's exactly what Martinez is doing.
10:27Good uppercut again from Cardenas.
10:31Trying to do that shoulder roll.
10:35You don't see a lot of Mexican fighters using that move, Sergio.
10:38No, not at all.
10:38And then when they do use the shoulder roll, it doesn't work for them.
10:46In the long run, the shoulder roll betrays everybody.
10:49Unless you have the perfect body frame, the small head, the wide shoulders,
10:53the speed, the instinct.
10:55Bring him up a little bit.
10:56Yeah, I know.
10:57Just bring it up.
10:57Much better round for Cardenas here.
11:00Oh, best punch of the fight.
11:02As Chris just told you, he was doing better.
11:05Yeah, Martinez had to roll that punch.
11:06He got a little bit lazy and got caught with that right hand.
11:09Rolled with most of the power, but it still landed.
11:16Good body shot there by Cardenas.
11:19See, now he's fighting his fight.
11:21This is Cardenas' fight.
11:22He has good timing, good technique,
11:25but when he's on the back foot, he doesn't do as well.
11:28This is where he doesn't want to be.
11:29Martinez trying to bully him a little bit in the corner.
11:32Here we go. Listen for that bell.
11:35Good jab right there.
11:37That's going to be key for Martinez.
11:38A stabbing jab to the bread basket
11:41of an aggressive pressure-fighting Cardenas.
12:00Look, you got to put pressure on this guy, right?
12:02He's going to be stubborn.
12:03One punch is not going to be enough.
12:05Do not step back after one punch.
12:09Come on, he has nothing for you.
12:11Let's go.
12:13You need to stay on the inside, dig on the inside,
12:16uppercuts and body shots.
12:19Even if he's not hitting, even if he's not touching,
12:21you still got to put pressure on him.
12:24And there's that uppercut that he was asking for.
12:28And that straight right hand, best punch of the fight.
12:31But you could see that Martinez rolled with that shot,
12:33but in slow motion, you could see that it didn't really land,
12:36but we don't have the luxury of slow motion and here do the judges.
12:39Inspector, right here for me.
12:41Mouthpiece.
12:42Yeah, when you see spit fly out of a guy's mouth and sweat go everywhere,
12:47the judges can't help but notice that as we enter round four.
12:50But that was the best round so far for Cardenas III.
12:57This is going to be a key round for both fighters.
13:00If Cardenas wants to actually start imposing his pressure and his style
13:06and not let this fight get out of control,
13:09or if Martinez is going to get back control
13:11and do what he was doing in the first two rounds.
13:14Cardenas landed a fight high, 22 punches in the third.
13:20You can see the heavier feet is on Cardenas' part.
13:24He's a flat-footed fighter.
13:25So if you keep that jab on him and be fleet-footed like Martinez is,
13:29don't give him anything to get on inside,
13:31then the later this fight goes,
13:32he's going to be a headache for Cardenas.
13:35Martinez has the right game plan.
13:37This kid is cagey, he's sly,
13:39but when you see it, he has the experience and the conditioning
13:42to do this all the way in the end.
13:43Yeah, I think that's a big question.
13:45I've seen Martinez slow down a little bit over the last round of that.
13:48Good overhand right there,
13:49but you can see the pressure slowly working for Cardenas.
13:53We talked about the difference in resume for Martinez.
13:56He's only faced five opponents out of his 16
13:59that have had a winning record.
14:01Cardenas landed a solid right hand right now.
14:03Moreno tried to roll with that one, but no.
14:05That one actually landed really cleanly,
14:07but I'm impressed that he took that punch that well.
14:12You always want to see how a young, unproven fighter
14:16reacts to getting hit cleanly.
14:18So far, Martinez passed that test.
14:21In the first two rounds, Cardenas was content
14:24fighting off the back foot.
14:25Robert Garcia urging him to come forward now.
14:28Yeah, but Martinez has quicker feet, so he's more fleet-footed,
14:32and it's hard to close the distance
14:33when someone has foot speed advantage on you.
14:35That's the power of hand and foot speed,
14:37and Cardenas is behind on that.
14:45That jab to the gut is going to be key all fight,
14:49because that's how you stop power punches from getting comfortable
14:51coming forward, is digging them and stopping them downstairs.
14:56Beautiful.
14:57Yeah, nice left there from Martinez,
14:59answered with an uppercut from Cardenas,
15:01who is loving that uppercut.
15:11Martinez continuing to stab at the body with his jab.
15:16I'm impressed with Jordan Martinez.
15:18This is a kid that didn't have much of an amateur background,
15:20but he's a natural fighter.
15:22You can see he's a natural boxer-puncher, confident,
15:25good speed, Keith's range, quick hands, but I'm proving.
15:31So now I can tell that that undefeated record that he has,
15:34he can fight, he can take a fight.
15:37Nice right there from Cardenas,
15:39trying to end this round on a positive note,
15:41leave a lasting impression in the judges' minds.
15:53After being postponed on the ring six card,
15:56Carlos Adamas finally defends his WBC middleweight title
15:59against Ammo Williams, March 21st in Orlando,
16:02as the rescheduled clash promises fireworks.
16:05You can see it right here on the global home of boxing, DAZN.
16:14Both fighters here have their moments,
16:16but Cardenas had bigger moments
16:18in the first half of that fight,
16:20at the first half of that round.
16:22Good, clean right hand, and this is a shot
16:24that he doesn't want to get hit with too much as Martinez.
16:28Even though Martinez is full of confidence,
16:30Cardenas does have heavy hands,
16:33and he's an improvement fighter.
16:37Chris, I know you're not scoring this fight,
16:39but it feels maybe like 2-2.
16:41Yeah, I gave Martinez the first two rounds.
16:43Cardenas picked up the last two.
16:45Good movement still for Martinez,
16:48but it feels like Cardenas is starting to settle
16:50into this fight a little bit.
16:52The power of Martinez isn't really affecting him,
16:54and he's starting to walk him down a little bit.
16:56I want to see more jabs from Cardenas as well.
16:59Instead of just waiting for Martinez to stop punching,
17:02you know, jab your way in, double, triple the jab,
17:05even down to the belly as well.
17:07Only two fights last year for Cardenas.
17:09Martinez had five fights last year.
17:13Loves to stay busy,
17:14but most of his fights are over in the first couple rounds.
17:16Yeah, but you know what?
17:17Activity matters.
17:18You know, as long as you continue being inside that ring,
17:20under the bright lights, you know,
17:22you keep that momentum going.
17:23So that's the reason Martinez is doing really well right now,
17:27because he's been staying busy.
17:30First scheduled ten-round fight of his career.
17:34And that's the red flag right there, Todd.
17:36How is he going to react when it comes to the later rounds,
17:39the seventh, the eighth, the ninth?
17:40Because right now he's starting off really well,
17:42like he did the first two rounds in this round.
17:47I think Martinez would be wise to hit and get out.
17:51The longer he stays in the pocket,
17:52the more likely it is we see exchanges like this.
17:55Cardenas has the heavier hands,
17:57and he is the better puncher.
17:59I think Martinez, when he has success, hit,
18:01then get out of there.
18:02Nice jolt of energy there from Martinez.
18:05In, right hand.
18:06Cardenas answers back,
18:07but nice moment here for Martinez.
18:09This kid, I remember what I'm seeing from Martinez.
18:13Even though I think Cardenas is winning this round,
18:16he's being active, he's landing a good shot.
18:18He actually caught the attention of Martinez
18:20with a body shot earlier in the round,
18:22but Martinez turning southpaw and getting angles.
18:25He's got it up now.
18:27Good right hand there for Martinez.
18:29Both these guys landing some signature shots.
18:34Good shot.
18:38Martinez got caught with a right uppercut,
18:40squared up, missing that right hand.
18:42That's a big no-no.
18:43If you're going to be missing a punch,
18:44you can't be squared up against an uppercut-type puncher.
18:50Were you a big fan of uppercuts, Sergio?
18:53On the inside, I was.
18:54But on the outside, just like Cardenas was right now,
18:57it's a dangerous punch to throw.
18:58Well, if you are a fan of uppercuts,
19:00allow me to introduce you to Emmanuel Navarrete.
19:04Watch your hands, watch your hands, guys.
19:06There has to be another word for that uppercut,
19:08because he throws it from way far.
19:11How about an outer cut?
19:15There's another one.
19:16Just missed.
19:17That's a free.
19:18Let him go.
19:19It's a very close round here.
19:21It's a close round, but I like Cardenas' solid punches.
19:25He's digging those fists inside the ribs,
19:29and he's really landing cleaner, heavier shots,
19:32in my opinion, in this round.
19:35Stop.
19:36No, no, no.
19:37Listen for that bell.
19:3910 seconds.
19:41Good shot there.
19:42Martinez walking right into the fire here at the end of the round.
19:46Good job.
20:01Look, we're halfway through now.
20:03You gotta get me going now.
20:07Look, these are close rounds.
20:13You need a punch with more spike.
20:15Come on now.
20:18Let's go.
20:19You got two more punches.
20:20You can't be waiting anymore.
20:25Urgency being shown in the corner of Arturo Cardenas by Robert Garcia,
20:29and for good point, because even when Cardenas does get a good shot,
20:32Martinez comes right back with counterpunching from that southpaw angle.
20:36Brendan with confidence.
20:39Jordan Martinez nosing in the fight,
20:40and right now confident getting off that stool.
20:43Yeah, it seems like Robert Garcia pretty concerned over there.
20:46That's a little concern being shown,
20:48because he knows this is a fight.
20:49Tight fight, tight rounds.
20:51They could be going either way halfway through.
20:54Cardenas coming off two wins in 2025,
20:56both going the distance the full 10 rounds.
21:03In fact, in 2024, he had 10 round decision wins.
21:07Three of them.
21:10Martinez has never even gone close to that.
21:13Just the sixth round, and this is round six.
21:15Never been past this.
21:19If Cardenas has his way, he won't get it past six this time.
21:27Whenever you're dealing with a boxer puncher, a fighter that can use the entire ring,
21:32it's hard to land that power shot that Cardenas is looking for.
21:36You're going to have to, you know, break them down with pressure.
21:38Beautiful angle right there by Martinez.
21:41Throwing away two shots just to get an angle and flank Cardenas and hooking him with a solid shot.
21:47Let's see how the fan zone sees this fight going.
21:5062% of you have Jordan Martinez.
21:52Chris, that makes sense if they gave him round five.
21:55Yeah, the output of Martinez has been solid.
21:58Just felt like over these last three rounds, the accuracy and really the power of these shots have been landed
22:04by Cardenas.
22:05I just popped into the corner of Cardenas to talk to Robert Garcia.
22:08He said he wants to see more pressure, more power, and more punches.
22:11He feels like they've seen everything that Jordan Martinez can offer, and they want him stepping on the gas and
22:17putting on the pressure.
22:18Well, right now it's Martinez stepping on the gas.
22:20He's having a great round.
22:21I love the punches he's throwing in this round using the entire ring.
22:26Good flurry of punches there for Cardenas as Jordan tried to use head movement.
22:31I was about to say not staying in front of Cardenas too long because that's what you have to do
22:34with a fighter like him.
22:35You can't let him unleash your shots when he gets flat-footed.
22:39So stay on the arm, bounce on your toes, use the entire ring, jab to the gut, and keep control
22:44of the round if you're Jordan Martinez.
22:47And if you're Cardenas, you've got to recognize that these are the rounds you need to rack up
22:53because when you get Sergio to that 8, 9, 10 range, you're going to get that adrenaline rush from Martinez.
22:59He's going to start to feel it a little bit, and that's when he can start to get that second
23:03win.
23:03Especially a hometown kid, a hometown fighter.
23:06So, yes, that rush of adrenaline is going to carry him to the finish line in a close fight.
23:12Martinez better be careful dipping down to that right side.
23:14There you go. See?
23:15He's already getting too familiar.
23:17Cardenas is with that right hand, getting closer and closer to the landing.
23:21Martinez better start dipping to his left and not just only to his right.
23:25A couple of chopping shots there from Cardenas.
23:30He's winning perhaps the second part of this round after Martinez started the round well.
23:35Oh, nice.
23:37Good shot there.
23:38Just barely missed by Cardenas with a left hook.
23:4010 seconds, stop at the bell.
23:4110 seconds.
23:4210 seconds, stop at the end, okay, so.
23:4211 seconds, stop at the end of the turn.
23:42Let's go with Cui.
23:42Go!
23:4320 seconds.
23:47Go!
23:48Go!
23:49Go!
23:50.
24:08Look, you have, you must win this round, you understand?
24:13How do you feel?
24:14Okay, how do you feel?
24:16How do you feel?
24:17Give him some water.
24:26Don't get desperate, don't get desperate, but you got to win.
24:31There's that angle I was talking about, beautiful shot.
24:34Missed the right hand, got the angle on Cardenas, and that's what you have to do with heavy foot fighters.
24:40You got to flank them and attack from the side.
24:46So Jordan Martinez enters round seven for the first time in his career, and he's taking on an undefeated fighter
24:52for the first time in his career.
24:53You know, I love between rounds.
24:55While Jordan Martinez is listening to his trainer, he's also glancing over at the great Julio Cesar Chavez, who is
25:01sitting there describing what he sees out of this action.
25:04Oh, there's a nice left.
25:06Good left hook from Cardenas.
25:09Ooh, good body shot by Martinez.
25:11And Chris, Martinez's corner is adamant.
25:13They said he must win this round.
25:16Well, look, Martinez, and you look at some of these punch stats, 95 punches, 97 razor thin, the slight edge
25:23for Martinez when it comes to total punches thrown.
25:26So razor thin.
25:27I get what Martinez's corner is saying.
25:30Even though he's the hometown fighter, he is the B-side here.
25:33Arturo Cardenas is the man that Matchroom has behind him.
25:37He's the man with Robert Garcia behind him.
25:39You cannot come in here and expect a win decision just because you're from the Phoenix era.
25:43You've got to go out and win these rounds decisively.
25:45And you can't be satisfied with close rounds.
25:48You can't be satisfied with just staying in the fight.
25:51You want to have control of the fight, and you will want to give it back to Cardenas.
25:55That's what Martinez has been doing in a tight fight.
25:57You got to just close the show in the second half.
26:00Sergio, would you be fighting this fight right now like it's even, or would you be fighting it like you're
26:04behind?
26:05Listen, I love the way Jordan Martinez has been fighting this entire fight.
26:09It's a close fight.
26:11It's an evenly split fight between a pressure puncher and a boxer puncher.
26:15I love the foul clash.
26:17So I wouldn't change a thing if I'm Jordan Martinez.
26:20Just keep boxing, keep moving, keep getting the respect of Cardenas.
26:23He's got to get his head out of the way.
26:26I think he's got to get his feet moving again.
26:29A lot of times in the last few rounds, they've kind of been stuck in the mud when he's been
26:32in these exchanges.
26:33He was at his best in the first two rounds when he was bouncing on his toes, getting in and
26:37out.
26:37Here you see these exchanges, guys.
26:38I want to see him hit and then get the hell out of there.
26:40Get out of range of some of these counter shots.
26:42I don't know, Chris.
26:43I like this round by Martinez.
26:45I think he's gotten some respect.
26:47He's dug his heels in, trying to get some more power behind his shots and still out of range of
26:53the heavier punches of Cardenas.
26:56And still stabbing him downstairs.
26:58Those are annoying shots, you know, whenever you're getting pierced through that gut area.
27:03Slowly, don't hit yourself.
27:04Here we go, man.
27:04That's such an underrated jab when you jab him downstairs like that, chopping your opponent in half.
27:1530 seconds to go here, round seven in what has been a very close contest.
27:21Martinez started well, won the first two rounds with Cardenas.
27:25Woke up in the third, and every round since has been very competitive.
27:29Martinez can't get lazy right now.
27:31He got hit with three glancing shots, stepping back like that.
27:40And getting it right back is Martinez.
27:43Good body shot right there.
27:44He landed by Antardeno.
27:45Stop.
27:47No punch, no punch.
27:48Here we go.
27:48Vox, this is for that barrel.
27:50Come on.
28:05You can't be doing that.
28:07Look, now you gotta win all these three rounds.
28:11You gotta mess this guy up now.
28:14This is a tight fight, what are you doing?
28:18What, you don't have the guts to wanna become a champion?
28:23Let's go.
28:26You can't let him start first.
28:28What are you doing?
28:29Some very aggressive language from Robert Garcia, but he knows what's at stake.
28:33Cardenas' perfect record is on the line, and that was not a good round for him, Sergio.
28:37Hey, listen.
28:38That's what I was telling Chris.
28:39I love what I'm seeing from Martinez.
28:40Even though right there you see Cardenas land a nice right hand, the majority of that
28:44round, Martinez was implementing his game plan, boxing and punching.
28:50Here we go, box.
28:52Chris, are you in the agreement with Robert that Cardenas needs to win these final three rounds?
28:57I think both these corners have the right attitude.
29:00You've got to have a sense of urgency.
29:02Every one of these rounds has been really close, but it comes down to the judges.
29:06Do you favor the activity of Martinez, or do you like the more compact, stronger punches of Cardenas?
29:13Oh my gosh.
29:14The last time we saw Cardenas here in Phoenix, he had a razor-sight decision against Danny
29:19Barrios.
29:20He has got to come and finish this fight strong.
29:22I love the upper body movement by Jordan Martinez.
29:25Even on the inside, Cardenas couldn't land anything solid.
29:29So you have to credit Martinez for defense as well right there.
29:37Well, Martinez is not fighting like someone who hasn't been in the later rounds before.
29:42Looks good.
29:43He looks great.
29:44I love what I'm seeing.
29:46Not any big signs of fatigue, but like Chris said, he kind of gets stuck in the mud sometimes.
29:50He tries to use head movement to avoid these shots when his feet might be the better option.
29:54See, the thing that Martinez, he doesn't stay in front of Cardenas.
29:57He slowly starts shifting.
29:58When he's punching, he's shifting.
30:02Great upper body movement right there.
30:06The thing that Martinez is really good at is he doesn't just get stuck on defense.
30:12You know, he ducks the punches and he comes right back with a combination.
30:17That's exactly what you have to do before you can impress the judges.
30:21Not just defensively, but doing both defense and offense.
30:24As you look at through seven rounds, jabs thrown, jabs landed, jabs to the body landed.
30:31Martinez has gone loco to the body.
30:34That's the punch that I was talking about earlier that I love when fighters do that.
30:38It's an underrated punch, a jab to the gut, but it's really good shot.
30:42Yeah, with the left hand, Cardenas tries to get it back with a minute to go here in round eight.
30:47A crucial round for both of these fighters.
30:50Crucial round, but I'd rather be Martinez right now.
30:53I mean, this is just an excellent performance by the unknown Jordan Martinez.
31:00And in a tight fight, Cardenas needs to do something.
31:05Because he's not throwing enough punches at mid-range.
31:07He's always a step and a punch behind.
31:09He needs to get on the inside, break that distance, and make it rough on Martinez.
31:14Cardenas told us he believes he's fought fighters and beaten fighters better than Martinez.
31:18But there's no doubt about it, Cardenas is by far the best man Martinez has ever stepped into the ring
31:24against.
31:26Oh, just got clipped there with the right hand from Cardenas.
31:29I don't think it landed, but it looked like it landed from Marvaneck's point.
31:32With body shot there by Cardenas.
31:35And now they're standing toe-to-toe.
31:38Robert said, Robert Garcia said, go and get it.
31:41And that's what Cardenas is trying to do now.
31:43Big shot, big right hand landed by Martinez right now.
31:50Come on!
32:06Come on, man, you've got to do something spectacular.
32:08Let's go show in!
32:13Look, you landed three punches, then you're waiting for him to punch something back.
32:17No!
32:18Come on, man.
32:20Let's go.
32:21Don't be satisfied with one punch.
32:23You got to land pressure.
32:24More combinations.
32:31Boltzmann landed some really big shots here.
32:34There's one for Cardenas, but then Martinez answers back.
32:37That was a big shot landed.
32:39That got him in a big overhand right, but Martinez comes right back with a right hand of his own,
32:44closing that round.
32:45Excellent fight, excellent matchup.
32:47That is some real urgency from the corner of Cardenas.
32:50Robert Garcia, arguably the best trainer in boxing today, the reigning trainer of the year by multiple publications.
32:58He's telling Cardenas, this is getting away from you a little bit.
33:00You've got to step up.
33:01You've got to win these last couple of rounds.
33:03I don't think he said a little bit, Chris.
33:05I think a lot bit.
33:06He thinks Cardenas has to do something, quote, special to win this fight.
33:11And I would say Robert Garcia is right.
33:14This fight is slipping away from Cardenas.
33:17It's a tight fight.
33:19But right now the momentum is with the hometown fighter.
33:23And we were talking about it earlier.
33:24Once you start getting to the ninth and tenth round like we are now, adrenaline for the hometown fighter is
33:30going to see this come through.
33:31You see the landed punches in round eight.
33:34Martinez, five more shots despite throwing ten fewer punches.
33:38Good body shot landed by Cardenas.
33:40I want to see him double shots downstairs though.
33:43Both hands.
33:44Good left hook.
33:45Cardenas answers back.
33:46And how impressed are you with Martinez's stamina?
33:50Incredible.
33:53I'm really impressed with this kid.
33:54And now he has Cardenas on the back foot.
33:56Martinez wanting to win.
33:58Pushing back the heavier hands of Cardenas.
34:04This is a man that's not going to be denied in Jordan Martinez.
34:08And Cardenas better do something special.
34:11You know, watching this fight, I'm kind of getting some Josh Padley, Mark Chamberlain type of vibes.
34:18Josh Padley came in.
34:20Complete unknown.
34:21An electrician steps into the thing with Mark Chamberlain who was a favorite fighter of Turkiala Sheik.
34:27Scores the big victory.
34:28That gets him a huge fight against Shakur Stevenson in a deal with Matchroom.
34:33Martinez, it's a competitive fight.
34:35No doubt about it.
34:36This fight could go either way, but he is a round plus away from maybe having a similar moment.
34:43Good right hand landed by Cardenas, but Martinez controlled.
34:48Oh, good.
34:48A big shot there by Cardenas.
34:50This round's getting away from Martinez.
34:52Martinez is boxing nicely, but back comes Martinez in the right with a combination of his own.
35:00Boy, round 10 is going to be electric, I'll tell you that.
35:05Stop.
35:06I'm here.
35:06I'm here.
35:07Take a breather.
35:07I'm here.
35:08And you can see maybe a little bit of fatigue finally seeping in on Martinez.
35:15Oh, step in.
35:16Yeah.
35:17Cardenas just walks right into that one.
35:18It's like he heard you.
35:21Just when Cardenas tries to get something going, Martinez gets the flow of the round right back.
35:32What a start to the night.
35:34The first of four fights as another left hook is landed by Cardenas.
35:42Martinez got caught with that hook because he opened up with a right uppercut from that far.
35:48Dangerous punch to throw to open up a combination when you're at mid-range.
35:51Stop.
35:52No punch, no punch, no punch.
35:53Here we go.
35:53Turn it off.
35:54Box, listen for that bail.
35:55Come on.
35:57One round to go.
35:59Come on.
36:05Come on.
36:06Come on.
36:08Look.
36:14Come on.
36:19Look.
36:20What did you do that the last four rounds?
36:22Man, that's the last round already.
36:24Now what are you holding back?
36:31Look, man, you got to knock this guy out now.
36:35Well, there you have it.
36:36They say they need a knockout.
36:38Chris, do you agree?
36:39No, I think it's competitive enough on the scorecards.
36:41And I do agree that Cardenas had a very good round last time.
36:44Landed some clean shots and was a stronger fighter.
36:47I think it's a super competitive fight right now.
36:53Cardenas, nine knockouts in his 18 pro fights.
36:57But according to his trainer, the future Hall of Famer, Robert Garcia, he needs another one here in the tip.
37:10Typically, a Mexican fighter will get the biggest cheers in Arizona, but not when there's a guy from Phoenix in
37:17the other corner.
37:18And that's Jordan Martinez.
37:19Great body shot by Martinez, landed on the inside while he was dipping the punches.
37:24That's a hard thing to do is going under the punches and landing uppercuts.
37:29What a clever fighter is Jordan Martinez.
37:31Oh, and he just ate a big one, did Cardenas.
37:34But he's willing to take one to land one.
37:37And Martinez catching Cardenas off balance there, but didn't stop punching.
37:41Didn't hear the referee say stop, so he kept going.
37:46He did the work in the gym.
37:49Who put in more hours, more sweat equity.
37:53It could come down to that.
37:54No wrestling, Jordan.
37:55No wrestling.
37:55Pull your arm out.
37:56Pull your arm out.
37:57You can see Jordan Martinez is fatigued, leaning over, falling off balance.
38:02But he's doing the right thing.
38:04He's staying on the inside for he wouldn't have, he could smother the attack of Cardenas.
38:10Get in the breather and right back out.
38:12Stop, I'm here, no punch, no punch.
38:14Here you go.
38:14Get a breather, gentlemen.
38:15Here you go.
38:15Come on.
38:16Heads up.
38:16Let's go.
38:16Box.
38:21The fan zone gives Jordan Martinez a 70 to 30% edge here.
38:28Good uppercut from Cardenas.
38:30Excellent uppercut right there.
38:41Martinez promised that he would be the biggest surprise of Cardenas' career.
38:46Overlook me at your peril, he told us yesterday.
38:50And he's perhaps a minute away from getting the biggest win of his life.
38:53But it's very close.
38:55If Cardenas can win the 10th, who knows what the cards will look like.
39:05I'm already impressed with this kid.
39:06Jordan Martinez already exceeded my expectations.
39:18The defense, the gritty offense, the punch selection, wing generalship.
39:24In a tight fight, in a tight fight, you know, this is where the hometown fighter might have
39:29the advantage if the judges sway the close rounds his way.
39:33But with shots like that, clean punches like that left hook landed in a quiet round, this
39:38is going to be a Martinez round if Cardenas doesn't get something going.
39:44All right, 10 seconds to go.
39:4810 seconds.
39:52This is going to be a big shot by Cardenas right there.
39:57Great battle.
39:59And Glendale did the hometown kid pull off the upset.
40:05What a performance by Jordan Martinez.
40:09And both of these fighters, incredible what they did, but wow.
40:12And Julio Cesar Chavez ringside has given these two fighters a standing ovation.
40:20If el gran campeón mexicano can give these guys a standing ovation, we know we're in for
40:25a hell of a night.
40:26This was an opening fight.
40:29Hometown fighter in Jordan Martinez taking it to another undefeated fighter.
40:33This is the way to start the night.
40:35Well, what do you think, Sergio?
40:36What's your gut tell you?
40:37My gut tells me Martinez pulled this out, man.
40:40I really think this kid, this unknown kid, unheralded, might have just made a name for
40:44himself.
40:45I think at least one judge is going to have it even.
40:47That's my prediction.
40:52Either way, win or lose, Jordan Martinez just made a name for himself here tonight as Arturo
40:57Cardenas is hoping his perfect record remains unblemished.
41:02He does have one draw on his record.
41:04He's 17-0-1.
41:05And right now, he'd probably shake hands and be happy with another one here against Martinez.
41:15Well, generational heavyweight force, Moses Atomwa storms into 2026, going toe-to-toe with
41:22battle-tested Jermaine Franklin in a 12-round collision.
41:25That's March the 28th live on the global home of Boxing to Zone.
41:34Do you think Atomwa has any problems with Franklin?
41:38I think Franklin will give him some issues, but I think Moses Atomwa is the future of heavyweight
41:43division.
41:48What is going through the mind of Arturo Cardenas?
41:52What is going through the mind of both these fighters?
41:54Because the longer these scorecards are taken, the more concern Arturo Cardenas should have.
41:59Well, one guy looks like he's already gotten the bag, and the other one looks like he's
42:02lost the bag.
42:05But don't judge their faces for the scorecard, Sergio.
42:09This is boxing, after all.
42:10And there you see el gran campeón mexicano, Julio Cesar Chavez, giving all the credit to
42:15the world and showing respect to Jordan Martinez.
42:18Martinez, you've got to hand it to this kid, man.
42:21I think he just made a name for himself and put Arizona on the map.
42:25Yeah, he said there's not a lot of world champions here from Arizona.
42:28I'm hoping to put my name on that list in the near future.
42:39122-pound division, Martinez versus Cardenas.
42:42An exciting fight to start the night.
42:45Very competitive.
42:46Ebbed and flowed.
42:48But according to Sergio and Chris Mannix, they think the Phoenix native,
42:53Jordan Martinez, will edge out a decision.
42:56Let's find out now.
42:59Ladies and gentlemen, after 10 rounds of action here in Glendale,
43:03we go to the judges' scorecards.
43:08Chris Flores, 98-92, Martinez.
43:17Dennis O'Connell, 96-94, Cardenas.
43:25And Rocky Taylor scored this contest.
43:3095-95, we have a split draw.
43:35Well, there you have it.
43:39I had a feeling, Sergio.
43:41The crowd not happy about it.
43:43But it was very competitive to the very end.
43:46It was very competitive, but this is nonsense when you get a 98-92 scorecard
43:50and a 95-95 scorecard.
43:53Because two judges saw two completely different fights.
43:57Look, I'm not going to go as far as the crowd robbery,
44:01but we know that Martinez had a great night tonight.
44:05You can see...
