00:00Can we make his arms like 31 on the card so it looks better?
00:08Small arms are gonna cost you some money and draft stock if you're an edge rusher in the NFL, or
00:15will it?
00:16And just like that, they're in the red zone.
00:18Another play-action pass.
00:19And in trouble and taken down again by Reuben Bain.
00:23They cannot block.
00:24Number four for Miami.
00:26The U, Miami, defensive end, Reuben Bain Jr.
00:29He's expected to be drafted in the top 10, but there's some critics or analysts out there that are saying
00:35that his arms are too small to justify being one of the top 10 players to hear his name called
00:41in this year's draft.
00:43Reuben Bain, I have him in the top 10 right now, but I don't know how the NFL is gonna
00:47view him.
00:47He is short and he has very short arms.
00:50Reuben Bain Jr. will have to be that outlier whose arm length is in, I'd say, a dangerous category, where
00:56risky category.
00:57Bain's underwhelming.
00:58When you break down what you're looking for from an edge rusher, he doesn't have that prototypical length.
01:03He doesn't have the prototypical arc athleticism that teams are looking for.
01:08Reuben Bain, who's a pure pass rusher, has been awesome all year, but shorter arms concerns.
01:14We're not talking about a Miles Garrett or a Bosa, you know what I mean?
01:19Bain might have been the best defensive player in college football this year, but his arms are less than 31
01:24inches in length.
01:25Since 1999, no-edge defenders with arms 31 inches or shorter have made a Pro Bowl or had a double
01:31-digit sack season.
01:32To give you guys some context, no-edge rusher has been drafted in the top 100, let alone the top
01:3910 with sub-31-inch arms.
01:41Bain was measured at 30 and 7-8 inches.
01:44None of the teams mentioned that to me, so I really don't give the kind of time of day for
01:48it.
01:49That's just all stuff I feel like you see on social media, but none of the teams have concerns, so
01:53I'm not to concern.
01:54So let me get this straight.
01:56We're talking about the consensus top pass rusher in this draft falling out of the top 10, or as some
02:03has even gone as far to say, the first round because of his arm length.
02:07But I think there are NFL decision-makers out there that are going to pass on this kid in the
02:13top 10 because of arm size, not production, arm size.
02:18He's got a powerful lower body.
02:20He can bend.
02:21Listen, we always say it like, hey, can we make his arms like 31 on the card so it looks
02:26better?
02:28Warriors guard Jonathan Kaminga.
02:30Salute, sir.
02:31You are the definition of I'm going to have the last laugh.
02:34So weeks ago, before the NBA trade deadline, he felt like he wasn't getting the minutes that he deserved with
02:40Golden State and that the relationship or work environment had become toxic.
02:45If we're getting to the point where we are dissolving into whether or not someone's friend took too much free
02:51food, then I think you know it's time to just have a little bit of a fresh start here.
02:55So just like any disgruntled employee, he demanded a trade.
02:58When you make a demand, there needs to be demand on the market, so we'll see where that unfolds.
03:04But in came all of the Kaminga slander from everybody, from the Warriors' own GM, Mike Dunleavy Jr., to Charles
03:12Barkley.
03:13The Kaminga thing is over.
03:15They know him better than anybody.
03:18That's up to Steve Kerr and Mike Dunleavy.
03:23It's something they don't like.
03:24Yeah, that's something they don't like.
03:26One of his friends, you know, taking too much food in the Warriors in a tense meeting with Steve Kerr
03:30on December 10th in his office.
03:32One of the things that he was kind of dinging Kaminga about, and it was just an example of, you
03:36know, the toxicity of where this relationship got to.
03:39Petty was the term many people used.
03:40Well, it's funny, right?
03:42Fast forward to this past Tuesday night, his first game of action since January 22nd.
03:47With the steel wraparound at Kaminga!
03:51Who's having the last laugh now?
03:53New city, new team, new coach.
03:56That can unlock talents.
03:58My man's headed to Magic City after that win.
04:01What's going on, y'all?
04:01This is Hilly Nekia.
04:02Monday, March 16th.
04:03That's a Maddie City Monday, so you know what that means.
04:05The Hawks is teaming up with Maddie City to bring you a special day.
04:08The 2026 NBA draft class, it ain't just good.
04:12It's historically good.
04:13A.J. DeBonson scores 43 points.
04:16Kingston Flemons from Houston scores 42 points.
04:19Keaton Wagler from Illinois scores 46 points.
04:22Cam Boozer from Duke scores 32 points.
04:25This may be the best freshman class ever.
04:27So good, teams aren't even hiding the fact that they're tanking.
04:31I think what Utah is doing right now is messing around with the integrity of the NBA.
04:36The ability to sit players, starters, in the fourth quarter, to not call timeouts in the fourth quarter.
04:45Utah Jazz got fined $500,000 for tanking, and the Patriots got $100,000 for tanking.
04:50Sitting your starters, bro, in the fourth quarter is f***ing disgusting, bro.
04:54This is blatant, egregious tanking in February.
04:59And the game the other night with Sacramento, they're up 17, 20 points whenever we're going
05:05in the fourth quarter.
05:06Markadon's rolling.
05:07Jaron Jackson Jr., new guy on the team, rolling.
05:10And they just don't put him back in.
05:12No one.
05:12And then they ask Will Hardy after the game, like, would you consider putting them back
05:16in?
05:17And he was just like, nope.
05:18How close were you to put him, Jaron?
05:21No, it wasn't.
05:22Are we seeing behavior that is worse this year than we've seen in recent memory?
05:28Yes, is my view.
05:30And which is what led to those fines.
05:33Ah, but it looks like the NBA is trying to crack down on the blatant tanking.
05:38They've dished out a half a million dollar fine and a hundred thousand dollar fines to
05:42both the Jazz and the Pacers.
05:44The NBA is also sending independent doctors to validate injuries reported by a team.
05:50But leave it to Charles Barkley to be the voice of the people with how the NBA should
05:56police this tanking problem.
05:57I've always suggested this rule.
05:59I don't think any NBA team should be able to raise their ticket prices if they're below
06:03500.
06:04I've always said that.
06:05You cannot raise your ticket prices if your team is below 500.
06:09I think they should make that a rule in every sport, to be honest with you.
06:11That'd be interesting, Chuck.
06:12That'd be some incentive.
06:14Think about it.
06:15Chuck's right.
06:16There's no stopping tanking.
06:18We cannot stop that.
06:19These teams are going to find a way to do it or to kind of just cheat around it, to
06:24get
06:24around it.
06:25But what's a half a million dollar fine when you've upped your chances to land the next
06:29best thing or the possible next best thing in the NBA?
06:32You make that fine money back easily just off a ticket and jersey sales when you actually
06:37land that player.
06:38The number one pick in the 2025 NBA draft goes to the Dallas Mavericks.
06:45Today's quick takes are all about college basketball coaches crashing out.
06:50Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg snapped at a fan after a loss.
06:56For putting his phone in his face.
06:58I am 100% reliant on a pacemaker that I was told never forget a conversation with my doctor.
07:03If a cell phone can put it off.
07:05If anything ever happens, I'm done.
07:07What's the likelihood of that happening?
07:09Close to zero.
07:10I'm sticking up for Coach on this one.
07:12There had to be some sort of valid reason why he just completely crashed out.
07:16I mean, come on.
07:17Social media.
07:18Maybe he didn't like the filter.
07:23UCLA's head coach Mick Cronin kicked one of his players out of the game.
07:27Mick Cronin is pointing to the tunnel for him to get off the floor and get out of the
07:32game.
07:32Cronin just kicked him out.
07:33And then he apologized for it.
07:35I already apologized to Steve.
07:37Okay.
07:39I thought that he took the guy out.
07:41And a foul.
07:42Pooper's fouled from behind.
07:43And now Pooper is up.
07:44And in Jamerson's face.
07:46Like the kid at Providence took the guy from St. John's out.
07:49Hopkins right on the floor.
07:50Hopkins.
07:51Oh, he is whacked.
07:52Whoa.
07:53Hard foul.
07:54It's the only reason I sent him to the locker room.
07:57I thought he literally made a dirty play and tried to wipe the guy out.
08:00Coach's defense.
08:01Maybe he thought the foul was a lot harder than what it was.
08:05You know, it was his very own Instagram versus reality moment.
08:09Now it's been a tough week for Coach.
08:11He then crashed out on a reporter for asking him about Michigan State's student section.
08:16What was your thought from the student section chanting Booker's name?
08:19I could give a rat's ass about the other team's student section.
08:22I just meant overall the way that you answered it.
08:25I would like to give you a kudos for the worst question I've ever been asked.
08:31I would you coach on that one.
08:33Don't ask no dumb questions like that.
08:35College basketball is different these days, guys.
08:37We can all agree.
08:38Kansas head coach Bill Self is dealing with load management of the top prospect in college basketball,
08:45Darren Peterson.
08:45The narrative is BS in many ways.
08:49I'm not sure.
08:50Load management, if he hadn't talked about that one time or anything.
08:55Load management, geez, that's when you play four games in seven days.
08:58That's not when you play one half a week.
09:01Load management, pre-draft self-preservation.
09:04I don't know, man.
09:05I don't know what you want to call it.
09:07I just call it stupid.
09:08But in Peterson's draft evaluation file, I wonder which player pro comparison they have for him.
09:16Has to be Kawhi Leonard.
09:20That's it for What to Take.
09:21Check us out again next week.
09:23Same time, different takes.
