00:02Google and OpenAI employees are voicing opposition against the company's plans to
00:06collaborate with the Pentagon on artificial intelligence technology, according to the
00:11New York Times. More than 100 Google employees sent a letter to management urging clear red
00:16lines in government contracts similar to those pursued by Anthropic. They objected to the
00:21possible use of Google's Gemini product for surveillance of American citizens and autonomous
00:26weapons without human intervention. The letter was addressed to Jeff Dean, the head scientist
00:31of Google DeepMind, who has supported limits on AI use for American surveillance. In a separate
00:37open letter titled, We Will Not Be Divided, OpenAI and Google employees criticized the Pentagon's
00:43negotiating tactics and urged leaders to resist its current demands. Earlier this month, several
00:49full-time Google employees signed an open letter urging the company to cut ties with DHS, ICE,
