URBAN EXPLORING ABANDONED 16TH-CENTURY CHÂTEAU IN FRANCE THAT HOUSED ROYALTY
WITH PIX AND VID
By Shuk Yee Tsang
Checkout this footage showing an abandoned building hidden deep in the French countryside, a 500-year-old château that once had royalty reside and contains historical artifacts of presidents, world leaders, celebrities and more.
Matt Nadin, 46, from Sheffield, a full-time Youtuber explored the 16th-century Château de Champigny-sur-Veude, located in Loire Valley, France.
Inside, Matt discovered grand furniture, formal clothing and framed photographs showing the former owners alongside world leaders including John F. Kennedy, George W. Bush, King Charles III (then Prince Charles), and Camilla Parker Bowles.
He shared that the sprawling estate includes more than 100 rooms, extensive outbuildings, a stable block and even an adjoining 11th-century church.
Upon his exploration he found photographs of American flags and prominent figures, which prompted him to search the names and deeper history immediately.
He explained that although the château’s modern celebrity connections were striking, its deeper history was equally astonishing.
The estate has links to the Bourbon dynasty and figures such as Cardinal Richelieu, tying it to centuries of European royal and religious power.
He believes documenting such properties preserves their stories, especially as some previously explored sites have since been destroyed by fire or vandalism.
Matt said: “I was blown away by this unbelievable château.
“It’s one of the biggest I have ever explored. Usually when you explore buildings this big the contents have been removed and it’s just the architecture left.
“But with this place, I was shocked to see amazing grand furniture, items of clothing that would’ve been worn at dinner parties and photographs of the previous owner with some of the most powerful people in the world.
“This made me feel even more privileged to walk the halls that such famous people had done before me.
“The modern history of this place is outstanding so it’s very easy to forget the hundreds of years of history that went before.
“Linking back to the Stuarts in the UK and popes from Rome really did make this explore just that little bit more special than normal.
“ It’s hard to put a figure on how much this place would be worth today.
“But I would say in my eyes it’s worth at least £10 million.
“There is always a mixed reaction to exploring videos."

00:00Hi and welcome back to a daytime explore. You wouldn't think that I was sat in a
00:09chateau from the 1500s when you look at this really would you and look out of the window
00:15and you won't believe the difference. It's also got its own church just around this corner here
00:22so we will try and get in there as well. Now what I have noticed a lot is on the
00:27architecture on the
00:29stonework there's a lot of like goat skulls a bit like demonic. In 2000, the year 2000,
00:37two Americans took over this place and I'm sure one of them was called Gene and
00:44Brian or something like that took over this place. The thing is though the Le Bourbon family and then
00:51Gene and Brian just it's not quite the same is it? So I feel we will have a mix of
00:56early 2000s decor
00:58mixed with French grandeur which is going to be a bit odd. We've got a marble, is it actually marble?
01:04Yeah it is, it'll only be thin sheets of marble but a marble bath and a full
01:10marble toilet set. All that stuff's still in here. It's a bit mad innit? Toilet, bidet, bath and on into
01:22the bedroom.
01:25Right, we're at the top of these stairs and I need to show you it is amazing. Look at this.
01:33Now, I've seen photos of this place online and I always wondered why there was American flags but now
01:41we know it's the owners. But look at this. I wish I could. This is why we're had to come
01:48in the daytime
01:49because I knew it wouldn't have the same effect at night. I don't know who this guy is. He's a
01:54good
01:55fellow with his sun on his chest and lions on his arms. But it is cool with the American flags
02:02as well.
02:02I do like that they've added them to bring something of their own to the place. Look at that. Wow.
02:11That is unbelievable. I sort of just want to keep standing here and looking because it's just so
02:19god damn amazing. The owners are looking a bit older on that look. His hair's gone from dark to
02:27light like mine. Well that's a good dining table for a start but look at that for a fireplace. That
02:36is out of this world. I've never seen a fireplace as like with its own pillars like that. This is
02:46crazy. What a place. Look this is the moat that I was on about at the other side. Yeah look
02:51little
02:51bridge to the entrance there on the moat. That is a big abandoned out building which I don't know
02:59whether we're going to go to or not. And there's stables on that side as well. Can you imagine
03:05having this as your house? You've got a big tower up there. Bell tower in fact up there. I think
03:12we
03:12can get up to that. Wow. Oh no. Before we do. Oh look. Oh my god. Talk about well connected.
03:23King Charles,
03:26President San Tropeto that shut up.
03:30Oh my god. Talk about well connected. Camilla. So Camilla and Charles.
03:41So it's after 1907 anyway. Well you can tell by the photos. That's it. The daughter getting married by the
03:49looks of the looks of things. Oh my god. Talk about well connected. That is crazy. That is crazy.
03:55And I can't believe JFK as well. But they look like they've met Charles on multiple occasions because
04:03he's wearing different on that one. He is on there. And then where's the one with Camilla?
04:10She's wearing different on the one with Camilla than she is on both of those. Definitely before
04:16we go out to that church, I'm finding out who these people are. And there's photos of them at Ascot
04:22in there as well. Royal Ascot. So probably how they've met them. They've got a huge big fireplace.
04:28It's got a winged or two winged deer. See if we can get into this other side of this building.
04:36Make our way through and round to the church. Have a look at that door. Beautiful thing. Let me zoom
04:42out.
04:45Beautiful. And look around it. Look at this.
04:53Absolutely wonderful. Look at that place. Beautiful. I can't believe sometimes the places
05:01that I managed to get in. Right, you can already see this is wonderful. Now I don't know if this
05:05is
05:05still used as part of a community. And the entrance to it is around the front. But you can see
05:14the
05:14stained glass looks amazing. And then you've got like gargoyle lizard things. There look.
05:24Spitting out water off the roof. Oh look. You can see it's, look at the age of this door.
05:31You can see it's linked to the family. Because do you remember the two winged deers we saw? Oh look.
05:38That says 1630. That says 1620. That says Chris. It's my dad. My dad's been here doodling.
05:46I got the diamond.
05:48It's my dad's been here.
05:50It's my dad's been here but there are some of the remove stuff after today.
05:58How many of thelympics have been the perfect nosotros?
05:59Well, coming back then.
06:00You
