Two men have been arrested by the police for the illegal possession of fireworks in Kluang, Johor.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the men, aged 25 and 41 years old, were arrested separately at their homes between 12.35am and 1.11am on Wednesday (Feb 25).

00:13were arrested separately at their homes on Wednesday. Along with the arrest, police seized
00:1811 units of Happy Boom fireworks, including a set that had been lit and two lighters. The suspects,
00:26who worked as a shop assistant locally and a painter in Singapore respectively,
00:30have prior drug records. Both tested negative for drugs during the arrest. The case is being
00:37investigated under Section 6 of the Explosives Act 1957 for causing an explosion likely to endanger
00:45life or property, which carries a penalty of up to seven years imprisonment or a fine of
00:5010,000 ringgit or both upon conviction.
