00:04Well, the story begins in 2015.
00:06Scott and Missy Tannen had just launched their bedding and linens brand, Bowl & Branch.
00:11Scott was a fan of Howard Stern, so he sent him a set of custom sheets.
00:16Why custom sheets?
00:18Well, Howard Stern is 6'5", which means he can't buy sheets off the rack.
00:23And it turns out he loved the sheets.
00:25The problem, at least for Scott Tannen, was that to advertise on Stern's radio show, the minimum buy was $2
00:33million.
00:34At the time, Bowl & Branch was only doing $1 million in revenue.
00:38How was he going to get that money?
00:40Fortunately, Scott was approved for a loan by the government-backed SBA, the Small Business Administration.
00:46He nervously took $2 million and spent it on ads on Howard Stern's show.
00:52And guess what? It worked.
00:53Within days, Bowl & Branch could barely keep up with the demand.
00:57And it came at the right time, because during that time, someone on Scott's team accidentally ordered $1 million worth
01:06of cardboard shipping boxes.
01:07A mistake that almost bankrupted the company.
01:10But the money from Howard Stern listeners helped grow the business.
01:14And today, Bowl & Branch is one of the leading luxury bedding brands with revenue over $200 million a year.
