00:00Where it wasn't supposed to do it for many years were tariffs.
00:05I used these tariffs, took in hundreds of billions of dollars to make great deals for
00:10our country, both economically and on a national security basis.
00:15Everything was working well.
00:17Countries that were ripping us off for decades are now paying us hundreds of billions of
00:22dollars.
00:23They were ripping us so badly.
00:25You all know that.
00:26Everybody knows it.
00:27Even the Democrats know it.
00:29They just don't want to say it.
00:30And yet these countries are now happy.
00:34And so are we.
00:35We made deals.
00:36The deals are all done.
00:38And they're happy.
00:39They're not making money like they used to, but we're making a lot of money.
00:43There was no inflation, tremendous growth.
00:45And the big story was how Donald Trump called the economy correctly.
00:49And 22 Nobel Prize winners in economics didn't.
00:53They got it totally wrong.
00:55They got it really wrong.
00:57And then just four days ago, an unfortunate ruling from the United States Supreme Court.

01:04Very unfortunate ruling.
01:09But the good news is that almost all countries and corporations want to keep the deal that they already made.

01:18Knowing that the legal power that I, as president, have to make a new deal could be far worse for
01:26them.
01:26And therefore, they will continue to work along the same successful path that we had negotiated before the Supreme Court's
01:35unfortunate involvement.
01:36So despite the disappointing ruling, these powerful country-saving, it's saving our country, the kind of money we're taking in,
01:47peace-protecting, many of the wars I settled was because of the threat of tariffs.
01:52I wouldn't have been able to settle them without, will remain in place under fully approved and tested alternative legal
01:59statutes.
02:00And they have been tested for a long time.
02:03They're a little more complex, but they're actually probably better, leading to a solution that will be even stronger than
02:11before.
02:13Congressional action will not be necessary.
02:15It's already time-tested and approved.
02:17And as time goes by, I believe the tariffs paid for by foreign countries will, like in the past, substantially
02:25replace the modern-day system of income tax, taking a great financial burden off the people that I love.
