Writer/Director Manon Coubia talks to Fest Track about connectivity, location and editing in regards to her film: "Forest High" playing the Perspectives section of the Berlinale in Berlin, Germany

00:29I'm here in Berlin, Germany for Berlinale 2026
00:33I wanted in this last part, I think the last part, in the last part, everything is connected
00:41as a first, the second one and also the past of the place and yes, it's the only part where
00:50I wrote the dialogue, yes, there was no improvisation here, except for a gesture, how she lived in
01:05the place. I didn't write it, I said okay, how do you feel in the place? But the dialogue,
01:16yeah, your character is definitely like this, so your habits with food should be different
01:24than the other, the first and second one. And when you go to sleep, you don't sleep the same
01:35like the other, you have different little things. But you had to sleep in the same spot.

04:26fait pas peur du tout j'apprécie j'apprécie beaucoup mais il y a du
04:31passage quand mĂȘme des randonneurs bien sĂ»r bah oui bien sĂ»r plus ou moins

04:41as we we shot in 16 millimetres we we made a few takes maybe around two takes max or three

04:51sometimes so it's very easy at the editing to to work all the process uh i start to editing the
05:01film
05:01during the shooting i know i knew exactly okay i want this spot connect with this part i want to
05:09to connect this mountain with this moment this night with this day and uh i am a
05:15monsieur during yes no me and but by draw often by draw by drawing wow yes we edit in three
05:26parts so it
05:27was easy to for me to construct the story yes to construct the story uh during two years uh we
05:37shooting then i we did things and we're shooting then we did so yes not for the shooting because i
05:44i
05:44continue to to make this film like i i made my short films not not during the shooting it's the
05:52first
05:52moment here i realized i made a first future yeah because always someone everybody asks me it's your
06:02first future oh yes yes but i don't hold this up
