00:03what's up y'all it's Zach John King proud to be the next Odyssey launch artist to be an Odyssey
00:08launch artist means the world to me I'm a kid that grew up listening to country radio and I
00:13think anybody that wants to make music a career especially in country music dreams of having a
00:18song on the radio and so just to know that you know Odyssey is taking a shot on me and
00:24and and
00:25basically putting this in front of a ton of people is incredible I want to put in the work I
00:29want
00:29to meet as many people as I can and I can't wait to see how many people enjoy this song
00:34I am a kid
00:35from Fayetteville Georgia born and raised just south of Atlanta by about an hour grew up on the
00:41traditional country radio station that my grandma had playing she had a little radio station in her
00:46kitchen cabinet that we would always listen to while she cooked I grew up on all that and then I
00:51grew up with my dad handed me an iPod full of Indian alternative rock for Christmas one year and so
00:58I
00:58basically took my two favorite influences the traditional country I grew up with and then all
01:03the weird stuff my dad loves and I mixed it together so I write country music but it's a little
01:08different
01:08and I feel like it's me I think what inspires me to make music the most is getting to connect
01:12with
01:12people I mean we write these songs in little bitty rooms with about four other people usually and
01:18getting to bring them to the audience and getting to share them and see how the the fans have made
01:26these
01:26songs their own is my favorite part I think once I record something and put it out it's not mine
01:30anymore it's theirs and so that's the best part of the job store behind get to drinking is uh essentially
01:36how you know a little bit of optimism and a whole lot of alcohol can sort of change the way
01:41you view
01:41the past and I think for me uh in my positions with past relationships uh it seems to be that
01:48memories
01:48only kind of flood back when you're you know you're into a couple jack and cokes and so this was
01:54really
01:54an attempt for me to paint an honest portrayal about you looking at the past in a little bit
01:59better light than it maybe was um and I feel like a lot of people relate to this idea of
02:04seeing things
02:05in rose colored glasses once they've once they've had a few uh for me the the fun thing about this
02:10song is the music behind it is happy you know it's a it's an upbeat song with a really sad
02:15message
02:15and so for me to mix the two I feel like it's really a cool way to I don't know
02:20interpret the song
02:21I hope fans take away some authenticity for me I mean I hope you hear it in the way I
02:25sing I hope
02:25you hear it you know in the storytelling of the song I mean it's me it's a place there I've
02:30actually
02:31been uh in a relationship and musically I hope they hear all my influences you know I hope they
02:36hear all the different types of music I grew up listening to kind of put into one package
02:40you
02:42you
02:45you
02:46you
