00:00EU diplomats had hoped to get a new package of sanctions against Russia approved in time
00:05for Tuesday, the fourth anniversary of Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
00:09But Hungary's opposition is making that deadline increasingly unrealistic.
00:14The problem is that the Ukrainian state hates Hungary and the Ukrainian state carries out
00:19an anti-Hungarian political approach for the last ten years.
00:23Ukraine behaves in a very hostile manner towards Hungary.
00:28Please ask the Ukrainians why they have stopped the oil deliveries to Hungary.
00:34Kyiv says that the pipeline which supplies oil to Hungary and Slovakia through its territory
00:38was damaged by a Russian strike earlier this year, but the two nations claim Kyiv is intentionally
00:44not restarting the pipeline as a form of blackmail.
00:47It's not just the sanctions that are on the line.
00:49Hungary is also threatening to block the €90 billion loan agreed by EU leaders in December,
00:55which Ukraine depends on for survival.
00:56Ukraine's allies are outraged.
01:00I am astonished by the Hungarian position.
01:03We will be discussing this with our Hungarian colleagues.
01:06The thing that shocks me fundamentally is that while Ukraine is defending itself against the
01:15might of the Russian army, Hungarians used to understand what it's like.
01:21Poland has accused the Hungarian prime minister of exploiting the situation for political gain
01:26in the run-up to an April general election.
01:29Hungary has blocked previous packages of sanctions against Russia and aid for Ukraine, but has ultimately
01:34backed off in exchange for concessions.
