00:00The Ukrainian president will want to try and secure this loan.
00:03It is much needed by Kiev because soon Ukraine could run out of its own funds
00:08to try and continue to function despite the state of war that the country lives under.
00:15Those funds are important to secure salaries for civil servants, salaries for soldiers,
00:22simply for the country to continue to function.
00:24And you've mentioned that the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been opposed to that loan.
00:31It seemed at the end of last year that he had been convinced by other EU member states to agree
00:38to it.
00:38But since then he has been, he has changed his mind.
00:44He threatens to oppose this loan because the Druzhba pipeline,
00:48which is transiting through Ukraine and bringing Russian petrol to Hungary and Slovakia,
00:53is no longer functioning since Russian strike back in January.
00:58Ukraine refuses to repair this pipeline so far,
01:02arguing that Russian petrol is actually used to fund Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
01:10So that's the main bone of contention between Budapest and Kiev.
01:14This is crucial for Ukraine to try and obtain this loan as soon as possible.
01:21So that's what's at stake today for Kiev and what Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be defending.
