An unprecedented winter storm is battering the Northeastern United States, affecting 59 million individuals with weather alerts and imposing a complete travel restriction in New York City.

Snow accumulation is reaching rates of up to three inches per hour, with some locations anticipating nearly 28 inches overnight. Wind gusts are hitting 70 mph, leading to power outages, flight cancellations, and perilous whiteout situations. Almost 4,000 flights have been cancelled, and many are without power across several states.

Governors from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, and Pennsylvania have issued states of emergency. The National Guard has been deployed, schools are shut down, Broadway performances are cancelled, and officials are strongly advising residents to remain indoors.

Meteorologists predict this could be the most intense nor’easter to strike the area in almost ten years.

Please prioritize safety and preparedness.
