00:00I am thrilled to be here at Tyree Power today.
00:05What we are trying to do as we rebuild our energy system
00:09is to make sure that Australian businesses,
00:12and in particular New South Wales businesses,
00:14are at the heart of it.
00:15And Tyree demonstrates that already.
00:18What we're announcing today is funding from our
00:21Renewables Manufacturing Fund.
00:23$20 million to go to Tyree so that they can expand
00:28and build the transformers that we need across our energy network.
00:32This is incredibly exciting.
00:34This is local jobs, over 100 local jobs for construction,
00:37and another 60 jobs to add to the 410 jobs
00:41right here at Tyree already.
00:43What we're trying to do with the Renewable Energy Manufacturing Fund
00:49is three things.
00:50We're trying to set up, as we rebuild our energy system,
00:54Australian businesses for the future,
00:55so that they can move into these new jobs
00:58and they can supply the components that they need.
01:01We want to support local jobs.
01:03As we make this really big change,
01:05we want to make sure that there are jobs all across New South Wales
01:08for people.
01:09There are good, local, secure jobs that have got a future.
01:12Not just for the next five years,
01:14but for the next 50 and the next 100.
01:16And that's exactly what this is about.
01:18And finally, we're also just trying to deal with...
01:21the reason why we're rebuilding the energy system
01:24is to deal with the retirement of coal-fired power,
01:27but also to get to net zero by 2050.
01:30These components that are built in factories like this
01:33are absolutely essential.
01:35And I'm so proud that the $20 million
01:38that New South Wales Government will provide
01:40will allow this site to grow
01:42so they can fulfil the hundreds of orders
01:44for batteries, for substations,
01:46for the transformers we need
01:47to build renewable energy into our grid.
01:50I'm so proud of a company that's been here for 80 years
01:53and we know it's going to be here
01:55for at least another 80 and beyond.
01:57Today I'm also announcing actually three other grants
02:00as part of this fund.
02:02Two of the grants are going to Moree,
02:04to a company called Hyringa.
02:06They're doing hydrogen and ammonia,
02:09low carbon ammonia for fertilisers.
02:12Absolutely fundamental for our agriculture sector
02:15being able to transition to lower carbon use.
02:19There's a really great project up there.
02:21The funding that we're going to support there
02:22will allow them to expand that
02:24and actually use low carbon fertiliser
02:28on the cotton fields up in Moree.
02:31So there's some terrific work going on there.
02:33And we're also doing a biomethane project today.
02:35So $22 million into Griffith,
02:38which is for a company called Optimal,
02:41but essentially what they're doing
02:42is using agricultural waste.
02:44They're going to build a facility right next to a large chicken facility,
02:48be able to use chicken manure to turn it into biomethane,
02:52and that will then be able to use gas that's lower emission, cheaper,
02:56and able to also use all of that agricultural waste
03:00and put it to good use.
03:01So this is exactly what this funding is for.
03:05It's about local jobs.
03:06It's about moving to net zero.
03:08It's about a low carbon economy,
03:10but it's also about backing New South Wales businesses
03:13to find their place in our renewable future.
03:16I'll see you soon.
