00:00This might be the end of an era, guys.
00:01Perhaps José María Jiménez will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
00:05Remember, our Uruguayan soldier arrived in Danubio province in 2013 for 900,000 euros,
00:09And as the seasons progressed, he established himself as an extremely reliable central defender.
00:13Finally, when I say reliable, I'm talking about his level, when he's at his peak.
00:16because unfortunately, injuries did not spare him.
00:18Initially, of course, he was somewhat overshadowed by certain players like Nirenda,
00:21But that's normal, he was a young player.
00:22Little by little, he rose through the ranks, but above all, he would form an exceptional duo with Diego Godin.
00:27In addition to being a fellow countryman, he would be his true mentor.
00:30Over the years, Jiménez has had to participate in the club's major campaigns.
00:33whether it was in the Champions League in 2016, or in the Europa League in 2018,
00:36whether it's the Super Cup, or during La Liga 2021,
00:39And even if he gets injuries here and there and he still misses some games,
00:42bad matches
00:42Unfortunately, he would have been very important for Atletico Madrid.
00:45And I sincerely believe that with Coquet and Diego Simeone,
00:48Jiménez is actually the third person I've met since I've been at Atletico Madrid.
00:52And yes, time passes.
00:53Despite his injuries, the Uruguayan has played 370 official matches for Atletico.
00:57He has been an international player for Uruguay since 2013.
00:59and will have played in several World Cups and Copa América tournaments.
01:01Except that on February 17, 2026,
01:03Matteo Moreto has just revealed a gentleman's agreement between Jiménez and Atletico Madrid.
01:07The principle is simple,
01:08if Jiménez finds a satisfactory destination this summer to continue his career,
01:11Well, Atletico will make his departure easier.
01:13I don't want to lie to you, if he leaves, it's going to feel strange.
01:15So yes, he's not necessarily as important a member of the squad as he used to be.
01:18But still, as I said,
01:19There are only 3 individuals left in the sportsmanship I've known since I was very young.
01:22So, to be honest, it feels weird to me.
