Quel est le problème avec Julián Álvarez ?

Julián Álvarez traverse une période compliquée à l’Atlético de Madrid, et les chiffres comme les prestations confirment une méforme qui s’installe. Après un début de saison très convaincant et une fin septembre exceptionnelle, l’attaquant argentin a vu son influence chuter brutalement à partir du mois d’octobre.  En Liga, Álvarez n’a marqué que dans quatre matchs depuis le début de la saison. Hors penalty, son dernier but remonte à la 7e journée, et il n’a plus trouvé le chemin des filets à l’extérieur depuis la première journée du championnat. Sur ses douze dernières apparitions, il ne compte que deux buts et une passe décisive, un rendement insuffisant pour un joueur censé être la référence offensive.  Sur le terrain, le constat est tout aussi préoccupant. Face au FC Barcelone puis contre la Real Sociedad, Álvarez a manqué de justesse, de présence dans la surface et d’impact dans les duels. Malgré son activité et son pressing, il semble souvent déconnecté du jeu collectif, pénalisé par le manque de fluidité offensive de l’équipe et des associations encore inefficaces avec ses partenaires.  Diego Simeone l’a reconnu publiquement : l’Atlético attend davantage de Julián Álvarez.
