00:41Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli.
00:43We begin this morning with President Trump signaling a possible U.S. strike on Iran if a nuclear deal is
00:50not reached soon.
00:51Multiple sources say Trump is weighing military options against Iran.
00:55At Thursday's inaugural Board of Peace meeting, he indicated a decision could come within days if negotiations fail.
01:02And now is the time for Iran to join us on a path that will complete what we're doing.
01:10And if they join us, that'll be great.
01:11If they don't join us, that'll be great too.
01:14But it'll be a very different path.
01:16They cannot continue to threaten the stability of the entire region.
01:20And they must make a deal.
01:23Or if that doesn't happen, I maybe can understand.
01:26If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen.
01:28But bad things will happen if it doesn't.
01:33So now we may have to take it a step further or we may not.
01:36Maybe we're going to make a deal.
01:37You're going to be finding out over the next probably 10 days.
01:41Later, aboard Air Force One, Trump said 10 to 15 days is, quote, enough time for Iran to reach an
01:48agreement.
01:49He has not ordered an attack, but according to the Wall Street Journal,
01:53options under review range from a limited wave of strikes targeting government and military facilities
01:59to a broader campaign aimed at weakening the regime.
02:02Defense analysts warn any U.S. action would likely trigger retaliation and risk a wider conflict.
02:09Meanwhile, the U.S. military buildup continues.
02:12The USS Gerald Ford is moving toward the Mediterranean to join the USS Abraham Lincoln strike group,
02:19already deployed to the region.
02:21Dozens of additional American warplanes have repositioned to Europe and the Middle East.
02:26CNN reports the military could be ready to act as soon as this weekend.
02:31In Britain, Prime Minister Keir Starmer is reportedly declining to allow American forces
02:36to use certain air bases for a preemptive strike, citing concerns and international law.
02:43U.S. and Iranian negotiators held mediated talks this week.
02:46The administration says there has been some progress, but no deal.
02:51Former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,
02:55has been released from police custody following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
03:01The royal was photographed leaving a police station in Elsham, England, Thursday night.
03:06Police say searches at properties in Norfolk, where he currently lives, have concluded.
03:11Searches in Berkshire, the site of his longtime residence at Royal Lodge, remain underway.
03:16His brother, King Charles III, issued a statement supporting the investigation,
03:21saying it must be, quote, full, fair and proper.
03:24NBC News notes the king does not typically sign statements related to his brother, but did so in this case.
03:31The arrest stems from Mountbatten Windsor's ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
03:37He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged here in the U.S.
03:42If prosecutors move forward and secure a conviction,
03:45misconduct in public office carries a maximum sentence of life in prison in the U.K.
03:51New Mexico is reopening its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's former Zorro ranch
03:57after newly released federal documents raised fresh questions about what may have happened on that property.
04:04Attorney General Raul Torres ordered the review,
04:07saying material in the latest release of the Epstein files warrants further examination.
04:12The remote ranch, about 30 miles south of Santa Fe, was one of Epstein's most notorious properties,
04:17a sprawling compound with a mansion and private airstrip.
04:21State prosecutors closed their original case in 2019 at the request of federal authorities in New York.
04:27Epstein never faced charges in New Mexico,
04:30though investigators at the time confirmed they interviewed potential victims connected to the ranch.
04:35Now the state has sent a letter to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche requesting full,
04:41unredacted federal records, including a 2019 email in the files that alleges
04:46two foreign girls were buried near the property.
04:49A claim Reuters reports is unverified.
04:52Lawmakers have also created a bipartisan commission to examine whether the ranch facilitated abuse or trafficking
04:58and if officials failed to act.
05:00The property was sold in 2023 to the family of Texas Republican politician and developer Don Huffines,
05:07who says he will operate it as a Christian retreat.
05:10President Trump is accusing former President Barack Obama of revealing classified information,
05:17and it's all over comments about aliens.
05:21Yes, aliens.
05:22Trump says Obama made a big mistake during a podcast appearance last week
05:27when he said extraterrestrials are real.
05:30Remember this?
05:31Are aliens real?
05:34They're real, but I haven't seen them, and they're not being kept in, what is it?
05:40Area 51.
05:40Area 51.
05:41There's no underground facility unless there's this enormous conspiracy,
05:48and they hid it from the President of the United States.
05:51That clip spread quickly online.
05:54So a day later, Obama clarified on Instagram, writing that he was speaking statistically.
06:00Quote,
06:00The universe is so vast that the odds are good there is life out there,
06:05but the chances we've been visited by aliens is low,
06:08and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us.
06:14But when asked about Obama's comments by a reporter on Air Force One on Thursday,
06:18here's what Trump had to say.
06:20Well, he gave classified information.
06:22He's not supposed to be doing that.
06:24So aliens are real?
06:25Well, I don't know if they're real or not.
06:27I can tell you he gave classified information.
06:29He's not supposed to be doing that.
06:30He made a big mistake.
06:33He took it out of classified information.
06:35No, I don't have an opinion on it.
06:37I never talk about it.
06:38A lot of people do.
06:40A lot of people believe it.
06:41The White House has not detailed what rules he thinks were violated.
06:45But hours later, Trump said he had directed officials to begin releasing
06:49government files tied to aliens and UFOs, writing on Truth Social that the declassification process would begin.
06:56He did not provide a timeline.
06:58The moment also lands against the backdrop of Trump's own scrutiny over classified material found at Mar-a-Lago.
07:04As for Area 51 in the Nevada desert, the CIA acknowledged its existence in 2013, though it did not confirm
07:12alien technology, underground bunkers, or extraterrestrial visitors.
07:17For now, it's less about UFOs and more about a podcast answer triggering a classified fight between two U.S.
07:24presidents.
07:26Some sad news this morning.
07:28Eric Dane, the actor who became a fan favorite as Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey's Anatomy, has died at the
07:35age of 53.
07:37His family confirmed the news on Thursday.
07:39Dane revealed in April of last year that he had been diagnosed with ALS.
07:44His family said he died Thursday afternoon surrounded by his wife, Rebecca Gayhart, their two daughters, and close friends.
07:51They asked for privacy.
07:53Dane portrayed Dr. Mark Sloan, known to fans as McSteamy on Grey's Anatomy, from 2006 to 2012, returning briefly in
08:022021.
08:03ABC and 20th Century said his work left a lasting mark on the series.
08:08He later starred as Cale Jacobs on HBO's Euphoria.
08:12HBO and creator Sam Levinson said they are heartbroken by his death.
08:16In the final year of his life, Dane spoke publicly about his diagnosis and supported ALS awareness and research.
08:23A memoir titled Book of Days is scheduled for release later this year.
08:28Finally this morning, did you watch it?
08:31A historic day for Team USA at the Winter Olympics.
08:35The women's hockey team trailed arch-rival Canada with just under three minutes left.
08:40So the U.S. pulled the goalie and, with an extra attacker on the ice, scored the tying goal.
08:45Captain Hillary Knight tipped in a shot from the point to send the game into overtime.
08:49Then Megan Keller delivered the winner, making a beautiful outside-inside move to beat the Canadian defender.
08:57Her backhand shot got past the goalie and into the net.
09:00The golden goal, as they call it.
09:03The United States defeats Canada 2-1, avenging a heartbreaking loss to the Canadians at the 2022 Olympics.
09:10The USA wins the gold medal.
09:12Also on the ice, what a performance.
09:15To figure skating we go.
09:16American Alyssa Liu delivered a skating program that they will be talking about for decades.
09:21Incredible spins, jumps, and just a marvelous routine in the women's free skate.
09:27She wins the gold medal and she was jumping for joy on the podium.
09:31Liu had actually left skating in 2022 to do other things in life.
09:35But her comeback story is now complete.
09:38She's the first American woman to win figure skating gold since 2002.
09:42And Sarah Hughes, incredible.
09:45And what a joy to watch.
09:46I can tell you last night before I went to bed, I watched the golden goal about six or seven
09:52times.
09:52It got better each time.
09:53And then I watched the last minute of the skating routine over and over and over again.
09:58Just tremendous.
09:59What a great day for the USA.
10:02All right, before we head out, here's what we're tracking today.
10:04At 10, the Supreme Court is expected to begin releasing new opinions.
10:08Always a potential headline day, so we'll keep an eye on it.
10:11Then at 11, NASA reveals results from its second rocket fueling test, a key step in deciding when Artemis astronauts
10:19can launch to the moon.
10:20At 2, First Lady Melania Trump delivers remarks as her 2025 inaugural ball gown is formally presented to the Smithsonian.
10:28And today is a deadline for the National Park Service to restore a slavery exhibit in Philadelphia, unless a court
10:36grants the administration more time to appeal.
