00:00The COVID-caused work-from-home revolution may be coming to an end for many as companies continue
00:05to pull employees back into the office. But the four-day workweek revolution may be on the horizon.
00:10Companies all over the world have been trialing a four-day week model for a while, but firms that
00:14were part of a particular trial in the UK say they're sticking with it even after it's over.
00:19The program was organized by Four-Day Week Global and began in June 2022 and included 61 businesses.
00:24But it wasn't just nine-to-five office workers who were involved. The trial also featured
00:29businesses like breweries and restaurants. It was meant to be a six-month trial, but BBC News
00:33reports of the 61 companies, 56 of them will keep doing it. The researchers say the trick is
00:39maintaining productivity. And while the metric is a bit difficult to quantify, other metrics are not.
00:43With the researchers writing, quote, on a variety of other metrics, whether we're talking about
00:47revenue, workforce attrition, self-reports of productivity, employee well-being, and costs,
00:52we had really good results. So how did they do it? Well, one of the companies told BBC News they
00:57had
00:57plans to get rid of unnecessary meetings, travel, etc. But the employees themselves took care of the
01:02rest, increasing their productivity by 2% in less days a week. Their incentive needing only be that
01:07extra day off every week.
