00:00If you're planning a trip to Antarctica, I'm going to tell you three mistakes you want to avoid
00:03because almost everyone makes at least one of them. Your first big mistake is overpacking.
00:06You think you need to bring everything, but trust me, you don't. Once you get there,
00:10your expedition company will probably give you a parka and you will wear that thing every single
00:13day. Expedition ships also do laundry and you'll re-wear the same three layers anyway. And most of
00:18the stuff you pack will never leave your cabin. Second is forgetting to wear sunscreen. This one
00:21surprised me a little bit and I'm not really sure why. Yes, Antarctica is cold and sunscreen might
00:25feel unnecessary, but between the snow, the ice, and the water, the sun reflects everywhere. You
00:30will get burned and look like a lobster if you don't apply before you go outside. And the biggest
00:34mistake of all is forgetting to look around. It sounds obvious, but it's so easy to forget to put
00:38your camera down. I had to remind myself to stop filming and actually take it all in with my own
00:41eyes so many times. Trust me that you're going to get your 9,000 photos of penguins and icebergs,
00:45but no photo fully captures how massive, quiet, and surreal Antarctica feels in real life.
